Mask layer not in Layers tab

I have sent a video clips from my FCP timeline to Motion and added a Circle Mask to it. But somehow my hand slipped and I hit a key.... because now I do not see the mask layer in the Layers tab. And I need to attach a Match Move behavior to it.
I can see that the mask is still there (it is present on the Timeline).
What did I do to seemingly toggle off its presence in the Layers tab?

Mask Layer not working in cropping to stage Flash

I've read through umpteen Flash threads of frustrated users who export SWF and anything visible outside the stage appears in the SWF when opened in a browser. None of the solutions have worked for me. My file is called statement_onlineheader.fla. It can be seen here http://www.mediafire.com/?yrmgnoynihw. Anyone know why this does not work for me?

Very true. So what do you think is wrong with my file? The top layer is marked "Mask" when I control-click it, and it doesn't matter if I put it over an individual layer or not. The top layer is a rectangle the size of the stage, yet this layer (which is checked as a mask) does not mask what is below it.

Mask layer not visible in layers palete

I have a strange problem, when I apply any kind of mask to a layer in motion 3, the mask icon shows up on the layer to which it was applied in the layers palette, but the mask layer does not show up underneath the layer to which it was applied, thus i can't select the mask to adjust the controls of the mask, I can only toggle it on and off,
I would assume this is a simple user error, but for the life of me I can't find a "show mask layer" setting anywhere,
any insight on this problem would be hugely appreciated.

the disclosure triangle for the entire group is twiddled, showing my layers and any added effects, but for some reason the only thing that shows the presence of a mask is the small square icon on the video layer, but as there is not layer beneath the video layer to click on to adjust mask controls... i have been watching m3 tutorials and the mask always creates a layer in the palette when activated, but for some reason it's not with mine...

No mask layer in the layers or project panel

I've been taking a tutorial on Motion5 and we created a B-spline mask and once I clicked off the mask to another layer, the mask does not show up in the lawyers or project panel. The same thing just happened in the keyed lesson. Once I click off the key, I can no longer make any adjustments or even find the key layer.

The mask icon is not on. In the layers window, at the bottom right there are 3 icons, masks, behaviors, and filters. By default the mask icon is off. Just click it on to see the mask layer.

How to use a clipping mask layer to a multiple base layers?

Is it possible to use one layer as a clipping mask to a 5 different bottom layers.
What I'm trying to do is apply an adjustment layer to certain layers only. Is that possible?

not that I would know, but what you can do instead is group those 5 layers (CTRL+G), add the adjustment layer as the topmost layer in the group and set the group's blending mode to "normal". The adustment layer is then only applied to the layers within the same group.

Layer mask suddenly not working, how to fix this?

I have been using the layer mask before and it has worked fine until now. Suddenly it only paints black and white colors, not revealing or hiding as it should. I have the mask layer selected properly. I have reset the brush tool and all the tools. I have the brush mode set to normal.
I tried also the eraser, it paints black too.
I'm using Photoshop CC.

If you hold the Alt|option key when you click on the Layer Mask icon in the layers palette to target the layer mask Photoshop will display the layer mask in the images window not the composite image. Layer Mask are gray scale channels. All you can see is the mask Black, White and Gray. Could you have Displayed the layer mask by accident. Are you sure you have the layer mask targeted to show the composite image or could you have targeted its to show the Layer Mask instead of the composite image.

I am a new learner to Photoshop and working on Layers and Layer Mask to obtain see through multiple Layers effect.
Below is the description of my problem that I am looking forward towards resolution in this forum. I will be glad if some expert can guide me on this.
I have three layers of different colors as below.
Layer 1topmost layer) with Red color filled rectangle.
Layer 2(below Layer 1) with Green color filled rectangle.
Layer 3(bottom most layer, below Layer 2) with Blue color filled rectangle.
When I erase something with brush on Layer 1 using masking Layer 1, it hollows the erased part and start showing the Green color of Layer 2 in hollow section of Layer 1.
What I want to achieve is that, when I erase Layer 1 using layer mask, then it should hollow Layer 1 as well as Layer 2 and should show Blue color in the hollow section of Layer 1.
i.e: Hollow section made on Layer 1(using Layer Mask on Layer 1) should also be applied on Layer 2 so that Layer 1 and Layer 2 becomes hollow using eraser and I should see through Layer 1 and Layer 2 and Blue color of Layer 3 should be visible from the hollow section.
Though I can do this by Flattening Layer 1 and Layer 2 together so that it forms one single Image, and then when I hollow this Flattened image using Layer Mask, then it will show me Blue color. But I do not want to do this, as I would lose the flexibility to unhollow/recover the hollow region on both Layer 1 and Layer 2 independently in the future.

Layers & stuck in opacity mask layer CS6

Hi,
I have two layers. Upper most with text is locked.
Bottom layer is an image I have applied a transparency/gradient mask for the raster image. Now, seems my layers palette is stuck in a mode called 'Layers (Opacity Mask)'.
Not seen this before, but this is CS6. How do I get out to the main, root level of the layers palette?

In the Transparancy Panel, select the left icon.
You have select the right icon (to edit the Transparancy mask)

Opening a new file in photoshopcc and the file name is displayed but no white working canvas. you can see it as a layer in the layers panel and if i draw on the grey area i can see int on the layer but not on the main screen.

Feature Request, option to relink all unlinked layer masks when transforming multiple layers at once.

As a professional PS artist who works on files with sometimes hundreds of layers, I often need to transform many layers or groups at once. It is a nightmare to find that after the transformation, a mask did not get included in the transformation, (especially when the file is many gigs large, and the transformation took 15 minutes). Sometimes, a mask is accidentally unlinked, but more commonly I unlink it temporarily, but forget to relink it. There is currently no way that I'm aware of to find these pesky unlinked layers, other than going through every single one. What would work great is to have a popup asking if you would like to relink all unlinked layers, whenever you're transforming multiple layers that include one or more unlinked masks. Or else have an option in the layers palette to either select or relink all unlinked layered masks. Hope this makes sense. Cheers!

It looks like you are right! Thank you for your help.
I still have a small concern. I looked at the documentation and it reads,
"The configuration settings for a cache instance are stored in the USER_SDO_CACHED_MAPS metadata view. You should normally not manipulate this view directly, but should instead use the MapViewer administration tool, which uses this view to configure map cache instances."
But, I tried inserting records into USER_SDO_CACHED_MAPS and it works, and I can't really see any reason not to directly insert records into this table, so...
Perhaps that warning is there simply because potentially you could screw things up tinkering with the table directly.

Hard to guess on this type of question at you are not offering any tip on what you are doing. A screen shot might help to see how you have things set.

My text layer mask is not working when I test it

My text layer mask does not appear when I test the movie. The

provide a link the fla - make sure your text layer is truly
linked to the Mask layer. What is the
font? Did you try breaking apart the font until it becomes
raw shapes? not that you want to do that
but save as with new name - try it and if it still doesnt
work, then the issue is not with your font.

CS4: Does not Mask layer effects. Bug?

If you have an image of say a person and place an effect (a drop shadow perhaps) then apply a layer mask to mask out the waist down, the result should be the waist up person with a drop shadow fading the same as the person. This is how CS3 does it.
NOT SO, in CS4. With CS4, the layer mask will not 'mask' the effect. So you get shadowy legs but the body is masked out.
I am positive this is a bug since i can open the bad CS4 image INTO CS3 and it looks correct.
Attached is same file, i created it in CS4 (with shadow coming thru transparent area) and then opened it in CS3 (clean, no shadow).

This being, despite the occasional Adobe-employee thankfully dropping by, basically a user-to-user-forum I think You should adjust Your expectations regarding tone to the fact that these are people who are under no obligation to help You but do so nonetheless.
If You stay on in this Forum for some time You might get to appreciate the humor more and I for one found the post in question quite entertaining.

CS4 eye dropper values disappear after grouping mask layer with next layer

Have an adjustment/curve with a mask (layer1). Under layer 1 is a second layer with just an image needing color correction(layer2). When I group the top layer1 with image layer2, the colour values disappear in the info pallette. Never did this in any other version of PS..... Strange?

Yes! I am confused too! But, no, I am positive of the approach as I saw it in use. Can you read a .psd image from an e-mail? (I'm really stupid about most things.) If yes, then I can send each step - otherwise...
Do these steps and watch the result.
Open an image.
Make a selection.
New layer via copy from the Layers Menu Icon (L1 - blank)
ON LAYER 1 !!!
CMND + New Layer Via Copy (creates ...)
L2 and it will have the marching ants outline of/from Background.
(Option+Layer Mask and the selection appears in solid black in the layer mask box)
NOTE: You don't have to create that blank L1 - you can 'just' from Background/selection CMND+New Layer and get the outline copied to L1(in this case). What I saw involved first creating a blank layer as above - really. The next steps, make the selection in L2 appear and the L1 disappear (deleting is cheating...)

Color filling entire layer & not object?

Hello: Level: Newbie OS: Win7 64bit Ps: Cs6

Under #2 ... I am assuming the author means to draw with the Rounded Rectangle in Path mode ... am I assuming correct? I think it is suppose to be set to Path b/c it's the only way the Blend Mode reads "Pass Through"
this tuts steps aren't really numbered well but also under step two where the "BG" is filled with black the resulting shape is suppose to look like this :
But mine looks like this :
Notice how the left side has a lighter grey color and the one from the tut above is clear? Can anyone tell me why this would be?
Okay, here is my real problem ...
Also under step #2 ... where it comes to the part where I am to color the resulting shape with a yellow gradient this is what happens to me :
the entire canvas becomes colored ... ??
Here are my Layers.
I select the "BG" layer to apply the gradient.
Here is the Layers panel from the tut which is confusing to me b/c the only difference I see is that the tuts panel has the down arrow and folder of the top layer/the "Body" layer seems to be greyed out... and the tut says something like : Activate the "BG" layer and cancel the mask view. Well, I have no idea how to go about canceling the mask view and I looked all over Ps for such an "action" and also throughout the online manual.
Sorry for such a long post. I hope I gave enough information. If you need any more info to help me work this out please just let me know.

R_Kelly ~ goodness I messed the entire tut up ... lol ... thank you for your advice and pointers too!! I really had no idea that I used a Vector Mask and not a pixel mask.
Actually, I've only known about a Layer Mask and Vector until now and so I plan to go read about it more in the manual. Hope I find some good info there b/c I don't always have good luck finding stuff ... and so thank goodness for this forum !!
I'll be back later to let you both know how things pan out for me.
