Mask out two selections in two images

Here are two images, both are selection cut for emphasis.
This first image, I blurred the top of the animal as I've successfully accomplished that goal.
The bottom part of the animal is the difficult part, atleast in my case.  There is what appears to be another animal in the background ? You can see the foreground animals legs, I want to make a perfect selection, including hair.  For the top portion of the image I used color range and refine masked, worked well.
This second image I posted because I'm going to assume; that similar techniques made be used on both. I want to make out the two tufs of hair you see, including all the fine hair.  The techniques mentioned earlier were a bit frustrating to get to work, maybe it's my technique, there is also a shadow in the image which in my opinion may have hinder the technique I used ?

I would suggest getting to know the quick mask tool.
Here are some tutorials that should help you achieve your effect: http://tv.adobe.com/videos/refine-edge/

  • How do I use the move tool in CS5 to put two images on to an A4 sheet?

    Have recently upgraded from CS3 to CS5.
    I often print out two images on A4 paper.  Under CS3 I would simply adjust and crop 2 images to say 7 ins x 5 ins, after that bring up a new A4 sized sheet (file, new), then using the move tool I'd move the two separate images on to the A4 sheet and print.  Fine!
    Now under CS5, once I've adjusted my first image then try to bring up a second image to adjust that one I seem to lose the first one from the screen.  But on going back via Bridge and clicking on the image it re-appears - problem is, I lose the second image.
    When I bring up a new A4 sheet neither of the images stay on the screen and there is nothing to move.
    Have been into Preferences to see if there is anything there to help but can't see anything.
    Does anyone know what is happening here and what I'm doing wrong i.e. how do I get 2 separate images on to an A4 sheet?
    Thanks,
    Bob Eveleigh.

    There have been changes since cs3, mainly that cs5 uses tabs.
    Tabs can be confusing if your coming from cs3.
    If your in the tabbed mode, try going to Window>Arrange>Tile.
    All your open documents should be visible on the screen.

  • When I try to move from one selected image to selecting a different image, lightroom (new install of Lightroom 5.5) will keep the previous image selected, so I always end up with two selected images - why?

    For example, I will select the first image in my grid view, then let's say I want to work on the fifth image. When I click on the fifth image, Lightroom leaves image one selected, as if I have held down the Command or the Shift key to select multiple images.  This is not what I expect. Then I am forced to command click the image I no longer want selected - this happens every time I try to move to any new image - the previous one(s) stay selected.  I have tried a reboot of my machine but still this happens.  Also, as a further bug, if I leave my grid with no images selected at all, after a few seconds Lightroom automatically selects the first two images in my library and highlights them - without my even pressing a key!  This is really weird behaviour. It's really frustrating as I like to use my keyboard arrow keys to move through my library of images, but when Lightroom keeps two images selected it just ping pongs between those two images.  I deselect and try to move on, and it again leaves the previous image selected!  By the way - I am not in Compare mode while this is happening - just in standard browsing of the library...  Help please!

  • Selecting the difference between two images

    Hi
    I have two photographs exactly the same which I have taken using a tripod, lighting and general studio conditions.  However, in the second picture I have inserted an subject - in this case an intricate sculpture.  Can Photoshop merge those two images together AND in doing so select the difference between the two images - in this case the intricate sculpture?
    Basically I need to select the sculpture and don’t want to spend the time manually selecting it due to its complexity.  I need to separate the background and sculpture for editing on their own layers.
    Thanks

    Any suggestions on how to remove an "aura" from around a selection in an image?  I shoot pictures at rodeos.  To make the rider stand out, I create a mask around the rider and then blur the background with Gaussian Blur.  This results in a noticeable blur around the outside of the selection.  I have tried using Feathering as well as other Refine Edge Tools.  The only thing that works is to go around the edge with the Clone Tool.  This is time consuming and not totally successful.  So, my two big questions are: (1) Is there a better (simpler) way to avoid the aura? and (2) If not, is there a way to remove the aura that is simpler??

    Sorry, what with the long title I had neglected the body of the message and your statement
    The only thing that works is to go around the edge with the Clone Tool. This is time consuming and not totally successful.
    seems to answer my first question.
    Did you do that before or after blurring?
    Have you alternatively tried using Content Aware Fill?

  • How to combine two images in preview onto one page

    Sorry if this topic doesn't go here - there wasn't a "preview" category.
    I have two images that i want to print out on the same page and right now they are each on a separate page in the same file in preview. Does anyone know how I can combine them onto one page?

    Hi -
    I load two images in Preview and select them.
    !http://www.spotsbeforeyoureyes.com/Preview1.jpg!
    Then I select Print Selected Images:

  • Why I can't subtract two images in imaq vision builder?

    Hi,
    I have many times tried but failed to get the objects in a image by subtraction with another image which is background, in imaq vision builder(ver. 6.0). I totally can't use the "operators" command under "greyscale" to subtract the two images becauee all commands under the "greyscale" are always unactivated after two images have been stored in 2 idfferent buffers. I really don't know why and this vision builder is so difficult to use, unbelievable! I followed the instructions in its Help and it's quite simple but I totally failed to make this operation!
    Two samples of images have been attached and maybe it's very ease for you to filter out objects(fibers) by subtraction each other. Show me your scrip
    t if you can. It's urgent to me.
    Or the idea of the way I thought for filtering the objects is wrong? Point out please if you know.
    Thanks and Merry Christmas and Happy New year!!

    Okay, this is not quite as straightforward as it could be, but you can do image subtraction in Vision Builder. The basic idea is as follows:
    - select first object image and copy it to buffer 1
    - select "image >> get new image" and load your background image from a file.
    - put this in buffer 2
    - retrieve object image from buffer 1
    - perform subtraction. Even though these images appear to be greyscale, they are actually saved as 24-bit RGB images, so you need to use the color operators instead. Vision Builder will only allow you to select steps that are valid for the image you have loaded. You could extract the luminance plane from all of your images to work with 8-bit images if you like.
    I have attached below a background image, several object i
    mages, my script, and the results of batch processing. You will need to edit the "get new image" step with the correct path to the background image on your machine.
    Bruce is right though. This is a bit easier in LabVIEW.

  • On CS6  with two images in the titles and one open Tutrials tell me that I can drag one onto the greyed title and there will be 2 layers in the layer panel .I have done this many times both with unlocked layers and duplicates . None of three options work.

    In CS^ when I have 2 photos inthe title bar and one is greyed out tutorials tell me I can rag the opened photo onto the greyed title to create two images in the layer panel.  It does not wrk even if I unlock them or use duplicates. Modify keys don,t help.  What is wrong ?

    First select the Move Tool
    Drag the source picture to the tab of the destination picture
    The tab will open to reveal your destination picture, do not release the button yet, but drag the move tool onto the destination picture.
    Then release the mouse button.
    Tell me how you did.

  • Pulling out two records at a time

    I have a TABLE with multiple records in it, of which i want to pull out two records at a time (as if they were one record), of those records that meet the WHERE criteria. Order is not important. Basically, i have a TABLE of things that wither need processing or have been processed already. I can process two at a time. (In a related search, that i am not up to yet, i can do 20 at a time.) How would i go about doing that?
    My first thought was a CTE with ROW_NUMBER() RN, using CONNECT BY RN = PRIOR RN + 2, and have a sub-query (or joined TABLE) pull out the second record:
    WITH Moo (SELECT ... ROW_NUMBER RN FROM Table WHERE ...)
    SELECT ..., (SELECT ... FROM FROM Moo Moo2 WHERE Moo2.Id = Moo.Id + 1)
    FROM Moo CONNECT BY Id = PRIOR Id + 2;
    Or a join. Is there a better way to approach it?

    Pretty much everything you just said is wrong.
    >
    I generally keep away from CURSORs, as i want the DB to handle the set processing for me, as opposed to a CURSOR which tells the DB how to do it's job.
    >
    If you do any DB queries then you are using cursors. You have the wrong idea about them. All result sets are obtained using a cursor. A cursor does NOT tell a DB how to do a job; that is what the query and execution plan do.
    >
    (And, Tom Kyt's mantra of "You should do it in a single SQL statement if at all possible") But that's just a rule of thumb.
    >
    No - that isn't a rule of thumb. That is exactly what you should do if possible which is what I said. But I also said
    >
    Well the general use is to use SQL instead of PL/SQL but since you already need to use a function you might as well make that function as efficient as possible.
    >
    If you are already using a function then you should get the most bang for the buck from it and make it as efficient as possible.
    >
    If the CURSOR is the most efficient, so be it. But as you point out, if i'm already going to use a CURSOR, i might as well do all the work in the CURSOR LOOP. Why bother switching contexts.
    >
    All queries are done using cursors. It isn't a question of whether they are more efficient; it is the only way possible. I think you are referring to a user creating an explicit cursor and performing explicit manipulation of that cursor. That isn't normally what you want to do.
    A cursor loop is the slowest way to process results especially if all you are doing is row-by-row processing to perform essentially SQL-related work. PL/SQL should be used for the transactional part of the processing. In your case that transactional use is consolidating two records together for specialized processing.
    As for context switches if you perform any PL/SQL you are going to have a context switch: functions, procedures, triggers. The function you already planned to use would have caused a context switch. What I am saying is that if you are going to perform a context switch then you want to maximize the amount of work (transactional work) done in the PL/SQL engine so that you minimize the context switching.
    You still haven't explained exactly why 2 records at a time is any more ideal than 1 or if you could also process 50, 100, or 10000 at a time. Is the limit what needs to be passed somewhere else? What is the reason for a max of two? What exactly are you doing with the data to prepare it before you have to pass it on?
    Bulk collect processing is more efficient, with fewer context switches, if you process 20, 50, or 100 records in the loop at a time.

  • Re: How to Join two images

    Do you want to side by side the images so one is on the left and the other on the right? If so just make them the appropriate size and copy them to the correct locations.
    If you want to overlay on onto the other then xor them.

    i have tried following code but it gives me image of 2 strips
    public static void joinImage()throws Exception{
              //loads two images with ImageIO
              //for testing purpose both header and content image are same
              BufferedImage imageHeader=ImageIO.read(new File("/home/g.pol/images/DSC04249.JPG"));
              System.out.println(""+imageHeader.getHeight()+" "+imageHeader.getWidth());
         BufferedImage imageContent=ImageIO.read(new File("/home/g.pol/images/DSC04249.JPG"));
         //create new BufferedImage instance of same width and height as that of merging images
         BufferedImage resultantImage=new BufferedImage(imageHeader.getWidth(),imageHeader.getHeight()*2,BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_ARGB);
         //get graphichs of resultant image
         Graphics resultantGraphics=resultantImage.getGraphics();
         //draw image on graphics with width is same as that of test images but height 1/2 of test image
         resultantGraphics.drawImage(imageHeader,0,0,null);
         resultantGraphics.drawImage(imageContent,0,50,null);
         ImageIO.write(resultantImage,"jpg",new File("/home/g.pol/images/result.JPG"));
         System.out.println("success");

  • Is it possible to paste two images into one layer?

    I'm having some issues pasting two images into one layer. Every time I paste the second image, it automatically creates a new layer...is there anyway to prevent that from happening? I'm making an animation on photoshop and I want there to be more than image in some of the frames. Please let me know if you have any suggestions! Thanks!

    You can merge the two layers together once they're position. Select the top layer and choose merge down or select both and choose merge layers (from the layers menu).

  • Query to find out two counts on each column

    Hi
    can you help for the below query.
    I wanted to find out two count values on each column, ie above or equal 5 count and below 5 count.
    Table:
    Q1 Q2 Q3 (Q1, Q2, Q3 are columns in a table.)
    1 3 5
    6 7 4
    8 5 1
    2 8 5
    Query should display, like below.
    Expected Result:
    colname >=5 count <5 count
    Q1 2 2
    Q1 3 1
    Q3 2 2
    Thanks in advance.

    The query itself can be simplified as follows:
    SQL> with t as (
      2       select level lvl from dual
      3       connect by level < 4)
      4  select colname
      5       , sum(case when val >= 5 then 1 else 0 end) "count >= 5"
      6       , sum(case when val < 5 then 1 else 0 end) "count < 5"
      7  from (
      8       select decode (lvl, 1, 'Q1', 2, 'Q2', 'Q3') colname
      9               , decode (lvl, 1, q1, 2, q2, q3) val
    10               , lvl
    11       from (select q1, q2, q3
    12                       from q),
    13                       t)
    14  group by colname, lvl
    15  order by lvl;Lines 8-10 is what pivots the cartesian join (CJ) of q & t. It helps to explain it by breaking down each part.
    The CJ produces (I added the lvl into the output below for explanation purposes):
    SQL> with t as (
      2       select level lvl from dual
      3       connect by level < 4)
      4  select q1, q2, q3, lvl
      5  from q,
      6  t;
            Q1         Q2         Q3        LVL
             1          3          5          1  <-- line a1
             6          7          4          1  <-- line a2
             8          5          1          1
             2          8          5          1
             1          3          5          2  <-- line a5
             6          7          4          2
             8          5          1          2
             2          8          5          2
             1          3          5          3
             6          7          4          3
             8          5          1          3
             2          8          5          3
    12 rows selected.and the CJ from above now allows us to pivot the results using the LVL column as the "decoding" key.
    SQL> with t as (
      2       select level lvl from dual
      3       connect by level < 4)
      4  select decode (lvl, 1, 'Q1', 2, 'Q2', 'Q3') colname
      5       , decode (lvl, 1, q1, 2, q2, q3) val
      6       , lvl
      7  from (select q1, q2, q3
      8         from q),
      9         t;
    COLNAME           VAL        LVL
    Q1                  1          1 <-- line b1
    Q1                  6          1 <-- line b2
    Q1                  8          1
    Q1                  2          1
    Q2                  3          2 <-- line b5
    Q2                  7          2
    Q2                  5          2
    Q2                  8          2
    Q3                  5          3
    Q3                  4          3
    Q3                  1          3
    Q3                  5          3
    12 rows selected.Line b1:
    The decodes hit line a1 of the CJ and since lvl = 1, we get colname=Q1 and the corresponding Q1 row value (val=1) of line a1 and finally the value of 1 for lvl.
    Line b2:
    For decode of line a2 of the CJ, lvl = 1 again and we get colname=Q1 and the corresponding Q1 row value (val=6) of line a2 and finally the value of 1 for lvl.
    Line b5:
    For decode of line a5 of the CJ, lvl = 2 and we get colname=Q2 and the corresponding Q2 row value (val=3) of line a5 and finally the value of 2 for lvl.
    The other rows of the pivoted result set above are obtained similarly and from this result we can now perform the aggregation for the final result.
    The WITH query is a called subquery factoring. It allows you to reference the subquery multiple places in the query.

    I have created a back end code which is comparing two images using LABVIEW.i have used a comparator and put a tolerance factor which will help me filter out almost same images.the problem i am facing is that on subtraction of the given two images i am getting a completely random output with noise surrounding the parts of the image which are being compared.Also the tolerance percentage i have given has not been working very effectively.Kindly let me know if there is an easier solution to my task or what needs to be done

    I'm not quite following you here. Is the text part of the
    bitmap
    image, or is it something you're inserting above the bitmaps?
    And why
    do these need to be separate images?
    Try this: Insert the two background images onto the same
    canvas, then
    use the text tool to put the text over the background.
    Maybe if you could post the .pngs and some context - the page
    where
    they will be used?
