Masking\Moving Questions LR3.4.1

I am using LR 3.4.1 on a PC. I have two questions if I may:
1. Sometimes I place a mask point, make my adjustments, click off to see my adjustments and find I'd like to move the point just a little but. I tried dragging and that doesn't work and I havent found anything else to work either. Is there a way to do that?
2. Sometimes I have a large area to mask and even need to get closer to some areas to make sure I'm "in the lines." Many times the starting point (mark) is not in the picture after I zoom in. I find myself wanting to slide the picture up\down\side-to-side to work on more of the detail area. I don't want to set a new marker\point but can't figure out how to move around the working area. Zooming in and out is not want I want, I want to just move a bit working with my original point\marker.
I hope I have been clear in my question and thanks in advance for any help.

To move around the work area hold the spacebar down, the cursor becomes a handallowing you to move the picture.

Layer Mask blur question

I hope that I can present this question clearly. I process 2 images from a single RAW, a light and a dark layer, the dark on top. I create a luminosity mask from the light image, and then from that selection I create a Layer Mask on the dark image.
1) Why does the resulting composite have strange colors, like a bad Curve (where it goes up to the right, and then goes down before continuing back up to the right)?
2) Why is there marked improvement with a Gaussian Blur of 40 to the mask?
3) When I paint on the mask in mid-gray, that section similarly improves (that would be the same as 2, ie, a homogeneous gray like a blur, but focal in this case with the brush).
What does the Blur actually do to improve the blending? I'm sure it has to do with how the pixels are blending without the blur, but I cannot seem to understand what's going on.
The images are in perfect registration.

Case For Rotobrush & Mask Keyframe Question

Hi,
Just wanted to make sure the below sample is a case for Rotobrush. Obviously I've never used it before, however I'd like to maintain the color, (excuse the crappy mask), I've created in the water in the first shot, throughout the sequence of cuts. When the woman moves across the aquarium, I'll need to rotoscope her correct? Any tips? I will however be reading the manual!

And the mask question - I should know this but for some reason, (in another comp), my mask changed shape over thime. It was the same tank you see above, but it was a dolly shot and the tank didn't change shape! You'll laugh but I ended up resetting the mask points in 291 frames, and it still didn't work as the variations in mask shapes created a flicker after applying color correction, levels etc.
Shouldn't I be able to go to the end of the comp. Draw the mask shape I want, keyframe Mask Shape; then go to the beginning of the comp - set the position of the mask and keyframe again. Please tell me where I'm going wrong!
And; is there a way to keyframe a "transform" of the mask shape during time? Essentially changing the size and shape of the mask, I was only able to do this frame-by-frame.

I actually wasn't using auto-trace, I drew the shapes with bezier points as one would in PS. Not sure what you mean by vertices? Didn't move the layer. My apologies for not painting a better picture. I'd like to post a screen shot, but don't see the camera icon! How do I do that, is it possible without the hassle of using flikr or photobucket?
Ok, not quite sure if you answered my question, (and yeah, my 291 frame marathon freaked me out a little.). How do I maintain the shape of a mask from beginning to end of a comp? (there will be variations as it comes into frame etc., I think I can handle that), but why wouldn't the mask hold shape when I keyframed beginning and end?
Now, with the above referenced Vimeo clip, the shot where the artist crosses the aquarium - won't that require multiple mattes on multiple solids, or layers as there are a bunch of spaces where we see the aquarium? AE will not allow more than one mask on a layer correct? Unlike PS!! Or am I wrong about that?
Would I be linking the solid with the matte(s) to a null object and then tracking that?

Regarding your questions:
1. Yes, flashing the BIOS may help solve your problem as it will re-write the configurations on the CMOS. Take note though of the changelogs or README (repair changes) as the latest BIOS updates fixes critical issues on the hardware.
I've also seen some units that act the same as yours and doing a gpu reflow most of the time fixes the issue - see this thread in reference.
2. In flashing the BIOS outside of Windows, it takes less than a minute. If you need to run the BIOS flash utility inside Windows, it may take 1-2mins.
3. If there's a new BIOS that fixes critical issues, it's most of the time uploaded on the lenovo website (in some cases, BIOS updates are not available to the public and can only be used by service technicians)
4. The latest BIOS update for the Lenovo G470 is the one below that fixes an issue on units that can not enter BIOS after restart under compatible HDD mode (see README.TXT)

However what temps are given when using speed fan and/or everest? (in windows)

Archive based on mask size question

I'm going to be working with a client who has a production repository in MDME 4.0. It has a size of about 4.5GB. In order to prep for the interaction with the client next week, I've asked for an archive based on a mask. They've created a mask which contains about 10 records. The file size has been reduced to about 1GB.
What can I do to trim the file size down even further besides reducing the number of records?

I am just thinking what kind of data is available in repository which takes 1GB for 10 records! As per my knowledge, there is no other to reduce the size of an archive file.
But, based on my experience, I want to share a small information. I faced lot of problems in unarchiving. The reason is original archive file came from MDM running on MySQL(MDM 4.0) and I was trying to unarchive on MDM running on Oracle (MDM 5.5).

Animate image behind mask, without mask moving

Hey guys this is probably really easy but this is my first run at doing a video project and cant get this to work for the life of me!
OK, I have 3 images which I imported from PS CC ( AE is CC as well for reference ) a company logo, a spacer line then the company name stylized so I want to use this and not just a text tool...
Now I have the logo and spacer fade in then I want the text to slide in from behind the logo and spacer making it look like its coming out of the vertical bar, I know I need to mask from the bar all the way to the left of the logo and offscreen to pull this off but I cannot get the mask to not slide when I try to animate the text layer! please help me figure this out!

I ended up just making another comp of the animation I wanted, brought that into comp1 and positioned it where I wanted it and bam, bobs your uncle! So easy but as I said my first time doing something in AE so I had to stumble through it

Basic file moving question

i must be numb. embarassed to say that i need a little help in understanding the easiest way to move songs into (1) a static play list, and (2) over to the ipod.
Here is the set up - I have about 10K songs in itunes and I need to go through the entire list and pick about 1000 songs to put into a static play list. I am using a wireless keyboard/mouse combo, (like a trackball) so my drag/drop capabilites using the cntrl button are pretty clumsy. very difficult to use highlighting 1000 songs. I was hoping that I could use the check boxes as a way to identify songs that I wanted to put into the statis playlist (folder) and then somehow click a button (or a similar) to say that I want to move all the checked files into my playlist. is that possible? any other options?
*one footnote here, i understand how to set up smart playlists, but the group of songs I want to aggregate has no common thread (or primary key). So i have to set up a static play list and manually choose the songs.
somehwat similar, i have a question on how to move a select group of songs (lets say 4000) over to the ipod (vs just a playlist in itunes as discussed above). i am hoping that i might be able to leverage the check box as well.

Select the iPod in iTunes.
Select *Sync Music*.
Pick Selected playlist in the drop down and pick the playlist(s) you want to put onto the iPod.
Add or delete from the selected playlist(s) to put on or remove from the iPod.

[MOVED] Question(s) regarding dzen2

While I am still absorbing the knowledge to configure dzen2, there's something that I can't stil manage to create in my head.
The only thing that I can't seem to figure out how to make in dzen is the window list, and was wondering if anyone else knew how to make one w/ dzen.
On a somewhat simmilar note, does anyone know why whenever I try to use ^ca, it's trimmed down to ^a in dzen?
Ex: In a terminal, I type this:
echo "^fg(#00f)^ca(1,urxvt)urxvt^ca()" | dzen2 -p
And I get this (in blue, of course):
^a(1,urxvt)urxvt^a()

I don't own a Neo2 anymore, although I wish I did. IMO it is THE best s939 AGP board out there. It is good to hear there is some dividers available in the BIOS now too, lol.
Anyway, if you mess with the different CPU voltage settings, you are sure to find a combo that puts it right where you want it. And I measured the vcore directly off of the board with a mm - I don't usually trust apps for that sort of thing when pushing 1.7+ volts into a 90nm or 65nm CPU.
It is also my experience that Ntune should only be used in case of emergency, if all else fails. I have had nothing but problems with that stupid program and I wouldn't touch it again with your PC if I had the choice. If you've got clockgen, A64 Info, and Core Center, you can rule the world.

Masks moving when I move the group?

Hello all
Hope you can help.
I have 4 masks applied to 4 copies of a green screen footage, all in 1 group.
Now when I move the group all the bits of footage move different amounts and do not line up.
Is there a way I can keep them in relation to each other?

Could it be that you have a 3D group? Make it 2D and you shouldn't have this problem...

Moving files LR3

Hi
I have my files divided between my laptop and an external drive. I need to move the files that are on the external drive to a new hard drive. I'm not sure how to do this so that LR3 still sees the files. I'm using LR3.2 and Mac OS 10.6.4

Hi,
Here's one way.
Backup your LR catalog and quit LR
Connect the new and old external drives to your laptop. If your external drive is called ImageData then I suggest that you use ImageData_NEW for the new drive.
Clone the old drive to the new one. I recommend using Carbon Copy Cloner. http://www.bombich.com/ It is inexpensive, easy to use and does a validated copy by default. Depending on the number of images on your external drive it may take several hours to complete. Don't worry if it gets interrupted. You can rerun the clone as many times as you wish and CCC will automatically figure out where it left off and check to pick up any additional changes.
After CCC is complete rename both external drives. This can be easily done in Finder. In a finder window click on the computer icon so that you see a list of your attached hard drives.
Rename ImageData to ImageData_OLD. Then you can eject that drive and save it. This is your backup.
Now rename ImageData_NEW to ImageData.
Now you can restart LR and it will now be reading off of the new drive.
This is how I have migrated my library from 250GB to 500GB and now 1TB drives. I also use CCC to run do all of my backups.

I am not convinced that there is a real problem. My CPU as an example will be around 1,0V at idle and 1,3V under full load. Different CPU but the behaviour should not be that dissimilar. Perhaps someone with the same CPU can comment on their CPU voltages. The AMD specs here http://products.amd.com/en-us/DesktopCPUDetail.aspx?id=640 state a voltage range of 1,125 - 1,4V. So your findings are not exceptional.
Suggest you do a CMOS clear and retest. >>Clear CMOS Guide<<
Check which BIOS version you have and I recommend that you update your BIOS, as there was a CPUID update on the 7640vI1.zip. Use the forum flasher. >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<,
