Masking works in timeline, not testing or publishing
Okay, perhaps this has been answered before, but I can't find that answer.
I've been having problems with the masking effect in Flash Professional. You see, I had created some text, and then rigged a glint to go across it. When played in the main timeline, it works perfectly. However, when I go to test the movie, the mask doesn't work, and instead I see the entire glint rectangle moving across the text. This is very irritating. If anyone knows how to fix it, that would be great.

[AS3] EventDispatcher works locally but not remotely
Hi,
I am very new to Action Script and have the following
problem. I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
I have a small video player app. I have added the FLVPlayback
component to the stage and set some properties via action script
(AS 3)
I then instantiate a class to go and retrieve some XML,
register an eventListener to wait for the XML to be loaded and once
the event has fired, load the FLV file (just hard coded at the
moment) into the FLVPlayback object.
This works when testing in the Flash IDE but not when I
publish the movie to my webserver. I have tried commenting out the
player.load() and just adding a textfield and again this works
locally but not when I publish to the webserver. I have included
some code snippets below.
Can anyone tell me where I am going wrong?
Any pointers much appreciated.

I found the problem if anyone has the same issue. I was
passing some FlashVars in incorrectly using the
AC_RunActiveContent.js that comes with Flash. I have switched to
swfobject and all is well.

Mouse clicks not working on published air app, works fine when debugging/testing
So I have an issue where when debugging my Air application, it runs fine and mouse clicks work and everything. When I publish the application and install it, it plays fine but clicking does nothing.
We have an older version which is working when we publish it and we're trying to add things in one step at a time, but I figured I'd see if anyone else has had this issue. A bit frustrating.

We're using Dropbox to share files and it turns out that two people having project open at same time is a bad idea when doing final publish! It creates conflict files and effects the final package or something of that nature.

My 6310 All in One will print a test page but will not print from Publisher, Notepad, etc. WTH?
My HP 6310 will print a test page fine, but will not print from Publisher, Notepad, etc. It goes thru the motions, but the image printed is almost not there. I have new ink cartridges in it. I have adjusted the print settings. STILL won't print properly. WTH???

Try power cycling the network devices:
Turn off the printer and computer and unplug the router for 1 minute (do not press any buttons on the router).
Plug the router back in and wait another minute, next turn on the printer and computer and test print again.

The mask works when I click play, but when "testing movie"
it's like it doesn't exist.
thanksIf you're masking text, you need to embed the font. If that's
not the issue,
you need to do as NedWebs said, and explain better.

It seems like I cannot get GPS only to work on my ipad3 (4g version, but not on an active cell plan, and wifi off). Is there some new requirement in 7.1 or 7.1.1 to have cell and/or wifi enabled for GPS to work? I am testing with MotionX, garmin blueChart mobile, and a GPS monitoring tool. All show no signal. If I turn on cell and wifi, it says I get gps signal, but can't tell if that is from the GPS chip, or just from cell and wifi only (maybe with some gps mixed in)? Any ideas on how to get iPad working with GPS only??

Yes. tried the one ram stick, no go. I have been trying to boot off/install the windows 7 disk but am unable to get to the point where windows starts installing after its gathering information portion of the install. I can get to the disk selection screen of the install with the WD HD on SATA port 2 but then get the "cant install messages" when I try to select the Vertex 3. Yes I can see the Vertex 3 Drive as well as the WD drive at this point. some times I have to hit "scan" a couple of times. -
My hyperlink is not working in the site I just published in Muse
My hyperlink just works on the computer where I published my site from a Macbook Pro 10.6.8 IOS, in Firefox 19.0, please help! I have imported it into Dream Weaver CS6, but still canno pinpoint the problem, it looks and behaves the same. Thanks for your response as you were the only one to respond, however this site was redone in Muse, and worked in the previous site (which was not created in Muse) whether the user login or not. The only one who has sign-in capability is the owner of the account the, hence the salon owner. Her clients had been using the site before to make appointments...the link recently stopped working after it was published. Is their anyway around this? such as altering the way Muse create hyperlinks? Could an anchor be used instead,? How would that work? Just grasping for straws and want eliminate possibilities.

The link https://appointment.bizlinkms.com/?page=appt is to an external site that probably requires a login first in order to access it (and hence the session error). You are able to access that page from a particular machine as you are most likely logged into that site already and hence the cookie exists in your browser that is maintaining the session.
On a quick look, the site's login page appears to be https://system.bizlinkms.com/
Nothing to do with Muse though.

Using document.getElementById to change an element size works in iWeb but not when site published
I am trying to use an HTML snippet to construct a "popup" to show explanatory text on iWeb windows. This is the code:

This works o.k. when tested inside iWeb. When the mouse is rolled over the element it is enlarged, the background colour changed and the text displayed. However, when I publish the site the background colour changes and the text is displayed BUT the size of the element remains set to the size set in the "mouseOut" function. On one occasion after publishing it did actually work, but mostly it doesn't!
What am I doing wrong?
Incidentally, when testing under iWeb, the mouseOut function sometimes doesn't shrink the element back to its original size. Mostly it does, but when it doesn't the background has still been made transparent and the text removed. It only appears to be the height and width functions that are failing!Here's how I started :

FCP 7.0.3 ripple edit in timeline not working
FCP 7.0.3, AVCHD/proRes 422 LT, ripple edit in timeline not working. Using the ripple tool, I click on the edit point, drag the cursor to the clip and direction I want to trim but it doesn't work. pop-up says collision on V-1. Same thing when I double-click the clip to player and try to move the edit point on the scrub bar. This was functional in prior sessions. What's happening? Thx in advance.
I'm only using one (V1) track. Prior to this problem I was unable to insert edit. That problem mysteriously vanished after an unsuccessful phone support session w/ Apple failed to solve. Also when I try to insert w/transition (default cross-dissolve) the transition is applied to the opposite edit point,ie: out point of insert clip has transition instead of in point where it was applied. When I try to add transition to edit point (CMD-T) it doesn't work.
I'm slowly working around the ripple edit malfunction by using the razor tool and ripple delete (shift-delete) to trim in the timeline. -

If you use FTP then ftp is the protocol and 21 is the port.
Your webhoster will tell you what path to use.
You probably can read it in the FAQ/Help/Support pages where you host your website.

Azure SQL database working locally but not when published to Azure

AngularJS solution that is connecting to a SQL Azure database. When

Thanks for answer.
I had followed that step by step guide for deploying to Windows Azure. So that was not the problem.
But I was able to get a better error message by turning off custom error in web.config.
I got the error message: "Windows login are not supported in this version of SQL Server"
I solved this by using the SqlConnectionStringBuilder instead of getting the connection string from
web.config.
So everything works great now, just think it's strange it worked locally before..

Video not viewable when published
I have tried posting a video to the web. I have used the podcast pages and the movie page. Neither one works. I called apple, and the guy that I talked to said that it might be a size issue. So, I tried posting a very small version of the video, and it still was not viewable once published.
What appears when I click on the page is a transparent quicktime "Q" with a question mark over it. When I tried publishing the video as a podcast the rss that iweb assigned was the address. Can someone tell me how to fix this?What format is the video? I have uploaded a 50MB (just to test I could do it) video to iweb pages exported from imovie '06 and also used Quicktime to compress for web. Visual Hub is also good for compressing videos for the web.

This lead the dispatcher to emergency shutdow:

if the dispatcher cannot start the work process it force the shutdown.So, you need to check
at the work process trace (dev_w*) files to find out the reason the they are dying.

this is a normal situation if the reverse name resolution is not working.
I have found this error when the DNS server has without the reverse zone configured.
However this is not a problem to the dispatcher operation.

Do a backup.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.
