Masks

I have created a complex retro pattern with flowers, dots and other objects. I want to now take text and fill it with the vector pattern. What I normally do is make a clipping mask but it keeps telling me it is too complex. Is there a different way I could accomplish this. (working in Illustrator CS3)

welcome to the Pages Discussions. This depends on what do you want to do with the shape.
Do you want to have a vector image of your shape? Than you should copy your masked image into an empty Pages document, resize the document so your artwork fits it and export that document as a PDF.
Do you want to use a masked image for example in an HTML page? Than make a screen-part shot (shortcut: [shift][command][4]) with the mouse pointer, open that image in Preview and save it in the file type you need.
But of course a real image editor or illustration app will do a better job here. If there is something other you want to achieve, be more specific and we will see if we can explane how to do that.

Multiple Exclusion Criteria[Exclusion Mask] in Sender File Adapter

Hello All,
I have a requirement to specify multiple exclusion criteria in the 'Exclusion Mask' property of a Sender File Adapter, i.e. I need to pick up files that correspond to 111*.txt from a specified source directory, but I would also want to exclude specific individual files that go by the following names:-111ACC.txt, 111INV.txt & 111PUR.txt.
I have tried the following - Specified 111*.txt in the 'File Name' field and in the 'Exclusion Mask' field specified ACC, INV & PUR - the exclusion criteria separated by commas. But this does not seem to work. All the 111* files are getting picked up.
Have gone through a couple of weblogs that deal with exclusion masks, but they do not talk about multiple exclusion criteria.
Is there any other way I could accomplish this?

Try this config.
Give *.txt in filename. and Directory as <YourDir>
In exclusion mask give 111ACC.txt
Below this there will be a table. Add two Entries
Dont add anything to FilenameMask.
Directory ->FileNameMask--->ExclusionMask
<yourDir>->--->111INV.txt
<YourDir>->--->111PUR.txt
Try this and get back.

Is there any way to Mask the Name when a select statement is issued?

Is there any way to mask the name .. i mean if User issue a select statement in a customer table the real name should come like ' ABCXXXDEFXXCFXX'... Which is not the actual name?
e.g if Name: CHIEV SONG MEE
If user issue a statment select * from customers;
The Result Should come something Like this:

No there is not a single "+mask this column!+" feature in Oracle.. but that does not mean that such a feature is not supported and cannot be implemented. Oracle has a very comprehensive and rich set of tools - more so than most (if not all) other RDBMS products.
It is up to the architect/designer/developer to use this toolkit in creating a system that meets the specific requirements at hand.

What is the main difference between Create shapes or masks from text characters and why use one over the other, or when is one preferred over the other?
I am still fairly new to AE and am trying to better understand this, or can you point me to where i might look for the answer?

One creates masks, the other creates shape layers. There are properties that you can animate with shape layers that are not available to masks. There are also a few things you can do with masks that you can't with shape layers.
I'd suggest you take a look at the help files or do a Google Search on After Effects Shape Tutorials.

PL/SQL - Masking Parameters on URL with Form Post vs Get

I am inquiring about the PL/SQL functionality of passing focus from one procedure/function to another
via HTML web pages, using FORM ACTION="post" against "get".
I've successfully written a good bit of code using the "get" functionality, where the parameters are passed
on the URL, but security really wasn't an issue on that phase of the application. Now that it is, I'm researching
further on how to use the ACTION="post" to mask the parameters from the URL and not receive failures in the process.
I've seen multiple references in books showing the simple process of calling the procedure/function
which does not explicitly require parameters, and using the ACTION="post", but when doing so, it returns
the typical PL/SQL message that the page can not be found.
We are running 9i, but not running 9iAS. Is it necessary to have 9iAS in order to reap these benefits,
or is it not as simple as it's seems and I should just use Java Servlets/JSPs instead?

How do I use the adjustment brush to mask and not turn my item green?

I have shot some products for my web site. I need completely white backgrounds. I have tried to mask the product and lighten the whites, but when I click done, my product has turned very green.
Why? How do you use the brush? Also, where is the invert to make this easier on me?
Kind of urgent, I need to get these items on my site already.
I know the answer is simple... I just don't know what it is.

Have you tried without the adjustment brush, by simply adjusting white balance from the basic tab in develop?
Click on the eye dropper tool and then click on a neutral gray color. Use the background if it is neutral rather than white. You may need to keep selecting the eye dropper to click in a few different places for best results.
If you decide to use the adjustment brush you can show or hide the mask. Uncheck the mask when you have finished painting; then use the sliders, starting with tint and temperature.

Is there a way to use Premiere Pro CC's new mask tracking with a red circle around someone?

I know how to do the face blurring, but just wondering if there is a way to put a red circle around someone or something and track it using the new mask tracking on Premiere Pro CC?

Yes this is the fix. I was getting frustrated over this issue. I use Dreamweaver across two minitors and the palette locations were resetting back to the main monitior where the app was. This unchecking and a quick log out and back in fixes the issue. Thank you!

Text input mask

Hi All,
I want to add a mask to a text input field, so the user can only type numbers on it (integers, more specifically), I think that this is done by a Converter but it doesn't add the apropriate javascript.
How Can I do this? And if I want to mask to only floats?

are you talking about immediate input masking? as user types a phone number say xxx xxx xxxx, it'll automatically adds "-" in between? that, you would have to use javascript.
otherwise, create a custom converter and attach to your input box

Number format mask of text item is not applied

Hello all,
I want to format a number like 999G999G999G999G990D00
Is specify the format mask under source of the item. But it is not applied and I don't understand why.

separator in most cases.I am using substitution strings for things like that. You can define some "global" substitution strings on page application definition.
So you just have to put in the format (999G999G999G999G990D00 ) in there once and give it a name. Let's say NUMBER_THOUSAND.
Afterwards you can reference it wherever you need the format e.g. this way:
to_char(10000,'&NUMBER_THOUSAND.').
This way you just have one place where to change the format model.

Have a 1st generation Apple TV, which is not showing as a device in iTunes. Had no problems with Apple TV until I changed from a Windows PC to an iMac. I have changed my IP address, sub mask address and router address in the Apple TV, Can anyone help?

I have a new router and computer. I have just remembered that just before my old PC died on me, I transferred my iTunes library to a hard drive. I can't remember exactly just how I got my library back, but there are definately things in my library now that were in my library on my old PC! Hope this makes sense. What do you mean by same location? Do you mean in the same place in the house?
Another difference I have just thought of was my old router was connected directly to the computer bu I have not been able to do this with Sky as my PC is not near a phone socket! Will this make a difference?

Printing a graphic with a gradient mask in Flex 3-problem

Hello, I am fairly new to flex development. I am puting together a little program that allows the user to upload a picture add a vignette mask in order to achieve a soft edge, and have a problem I cannot find an answer anywhere, maybe someone could help me please.
I want to print a the user photo with a gradient mask or vignette from flex. I managed to show the image correctly on screeen with the gradient mask using this class but the output to paper is a rectangle without the soft mask.

Hello, back on my issue, i tested a little bit more the message dispaching.
I read the lazyLoadPolicy class and noticed that it always has to have a ModuleId property in the message to work, that's why the broadcast message didn't work to awake the module with the lazy loading policy.
So i added copy of my module:

Set them both with a basicLoadPolicy, and tries to dispatch a message to only one of them using the ModuleId metatag. I then noticed that both modules received the message and not only the one i expected.
I then changed the ModuleMessageInterceptor configuration to dispatch to only one kind of module:

and this worked as expected. Only the first module catched the message. I am obiously messing with the ModuleId metatag but i cannot see what's wrong...
I compiled with

The subnet mask on the Extreme isn't the same as on the Express.

Dear Group,
I have my Extreme configured to do PPPoE and DHCP and my DSL modem is setup as bridged. Everything is finally working well. I have an Express extending the Extreme in a WDS.
When I look at the PPPoE tab in the Internet tab of the Extreme in AirPort Utility it shows a subnet mask of 255.255.255.255, but the Internet tab of the Express shows 255.255.255.0.
I don't have any problems at all and wireless clients are connected to the Extreme and the Express.
Is the Extreme's subnet mask part of my DSL connection and therefore a different subnet mask?
Not sure, but I'd like to make sure that I don't have something setup incorrectly.

This really isn't an issue as long as the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) is providing a working Internet connection. Since the AEBS is using PPPoE to connect to your ISP I'm not sure that the subnet mask is even used.
The subnet value of 255.255.255.0 used by the AirPort Express (AX) is typical.

Masked elements not showing up at all

I've been working on a site and on a couple of machines I've
seen it on the
elements I've used that include masks are totally invisible.
It looks right
on most machines.
I'm building it in Flash 8 for the Flash 7 player. All of the
machines it's
had the problem with are Macs, but that could be coincidence,
I'm not sure.
I have a feeling that it's due to the machines not having the
correct Flash
player. However, one of these machines is where I work and
all the software
runs through a network, it seems that all machines there
should have the
same Flash player. It works right on all the other machines
at work that
I've seen it on.
Is there anything else that could be causing this problem?

SharePoint 2013 public facing site - need to mask url in search results

Hi, we have sp2013 public facing site. Can we mask the display url in search results? Actually we are pointing two urls(ex: A & B) to same web application. Search results are already crawled based on A URL, so when people search in browsing 'B'
URL search results is giving URL with 'A' site. Please let me know if anyone have possible solution.
Can we have more than one url for internet zone in AAM? i browsed in blogs most of them say it is not possible.

Issues with using /31 mask on 3750 switch

I work for a large manufacturing plant that employes Cisco 3750 and 6500 series switches. We are having a problem in using 255.255.255.254 mask on point-to-point VLAN uplinks. Every time, the switch restarts, after the initial boot process, it locks up after the following error message:
"Warning: use /31 mask on non point-to-point interface cautiously".
The switch in question is a 3750-12 port fibre switch. IOS version: 12.2(25).SEB March 2005.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe you are seeing two different things.
1)The message is just a warning message introduced through

It is not only during boot up but the message is printed even when the IP address is configured.

The reason you are seeing after boot up is because start up config is applied to running config.
2)However, this should not lock up the switch.

Subnet mask 255.255.255.255 assigned to VPN client - can't ping LAN

I can connect to the office using Win VPN client, but I can't ping any hosts in the office network. I suspect that the reason for that is subnet mask assigned to the VPN client: 255.255.255.255. ipconfig of the VPN client:

There are remnants of old config, I just recently took over this network, some lines look odd to me, but I did not touch what works. VPN config is all mine.
PIX internal 10.0.0.23 - is a gateway for the network. DNS server in LAN - 10.0.0.15.
I've been reading about the problem and came across several posts that this subnet mask is normal, but it puzzles me - how can this host communicate with anyone else if there is no room for other hosts in this network (according to the mask)?!
