Mass Delete SMS Messages in iOS4

I am a sysadmin and I get TONS of SMS messages and I need to purge them on a regular basis to keep sane.
In the past, I had been using PhoneView to mass delete SMS messages from my iPhone, but Apple has apparently changed how the SMS messages are managed and PhoneView has permanently discontinued this functionality.
Is anyone aware of any products or methods for mass deleting SMS messages in iOS4?

Same problem here. I have over 1000 msgs that need deleting. Been waiting years for this "obvious" feature. I can't believe they didn't fix this in iOS4. So, love to hear if there's an app for that.

how to recover the deleted SMS message, Contacts, CallHistory and Photos from ipad.

If you did the backup of your data before deleting then you can easily get back the data by the following steps:
    1. First don’t connect your iPad directly to computer because the iTunes only saves the most recent backup
    2. Now make sure that you have a valid backup as listed iTunes> preferences> devices
    3. Before connecting your iPad make sure to check iTunes>preferences> devices "prevent iPad from syncing automatically." Because this will ensures we don't erase the previously stored backup. Then select ok and close the window after checking " don't sync"
    4. Now connect your iPad to your computer .
    5. Select the iPad as seen in the left bar of iTunes, as listed under the devices .
    6. Select version and click on restore from options.
    7. It takes a while to for iPad to erase itself, reset and restart.
    8. After the iPad is restart you will see Set Up Your iPad in iTunes on your computer, and now just click the restore from the backup and click continue. It will take 10 to 12 minutes to recover your data from iPad, including the deleted sms, notes, photos, music, contacts etc.

  • Trouble deleting sms messages ios8

Just updated to ios8 on an 32GB iPhone 5c from Verizon. I have a text feed ftom Twitter that gets 300+ sms messages per day. Typically I scroll through them and mark most for deletion. I do it in batches. On ios7, after I had been through the last 50 or so, there would be a link at the top of the list to "load earlier messages". I would press the trash can and delete the messages i had marked to that point.
On ios8, it seems to be automatically loading the older messages. But when it does, it undoes the marks on messages I had previously marked but not yet deleted. This forces me to scoll back though 50 or so messages to mark the again. Very annoying.
On top of that, sometimes, the trash can does not appear at the bottom, even though I have messages marked. I have to double press home and swipe away messages and then go back in to get the trash can to appear.
This image shows marked messages, but no trash can.
After getting out and back in, this is the way it should look. Note the trash can at the bottom.

Thanks for the advice.  It didn't solve the problem but possibly helped to identify where the problem lies.  None of the messages giving the problem appear in any folder from Browser Messages through to WAP Push Messages.  All were SMS messages - some were received, the others sent.  Are there any other folders/ locations I should be looking for?

  • Retrieving deleted SMS messages

How to recover deleted conversations from my iPhone 4s

You would not be able to do this the best of my knowledge.
That SMS has been deleted. Gone from your iPhone forever. The only hope was that the backup of the iPhone (done by iTunes automatically) had a backup of that SMS message.
Connecting it to a mac would only back up the current version of your phone, which does not have the message.
One idea though, and I would love input on if this would work: Could he take the back up file, move it to a Mac and use Syphone to extract the message that way?

  • Recovery of Deleted SMS messages

I recently deleted a SMS message thread. It contained approx. 1000 messages to this person. I had sync. several days ago. Is there any way of recovering the messages since last sync. or worst case how do I see the SMS messages that were present when I sync.?

    Rod,
Yes. You can sync with another computer or the same computer in another user account. That would give you a backup of your current configuration without modifying your current backup.
Just sync the iPhone in another user account or computer, verify you have a current backup in iTunes.
Erase the iPhone, Goto Settings> General> Reset> Erase all content and Settings.
Attach the iPhone to the original user account or PC, iTunes will prompt you to recover from backup.

Do you have a back of the Q5 made from before the deletion of the messages?
    If so, restore the backup.
    If not, they are gone.

  • 5800 deletes sms messages after self reboot

    My first taste of disgrace;
I took a picture yesterday and imediatly sent it from the camera application via MMS.
During the send process, the phone decided to reebot and lost its wallpaper and for my disgrace all of the messages!!!!
They were stored in the memory card...
After the reboot, the message store path was still pointing to the memory card, but it detected 0 messages...
I tried switching back and forward from "phone memory" to "card memory" but still nothing....
Were is the safety in having the messages stored in the memory card if the phone can easily wipe them out of existence???
And I was liking this phone so much.....
    Regards,
    Joao Duarte

......it could be the memory card being faulty.......
have either of you tried a different memory card?
i find that memory cards are very "sensitive" so if you have been
removing it and replacing it into the device a fault can occur......
secondly try this and see what happens
    go to messages---->options------>settings---->other
here you will find a few settings try configurating them to your lliking
(save sent messages "yes" number of saved messages "999"
MEMORY IN USE  "E:Memory Card") i think it may be a matter of the phone
switching between where the messages are saved (phone memory or memory card)
thus it appears as though messages have been deleted when in fact its just the LOCATION
    of where messages are saved.
    hope this helps.....
