Mass duplicate calendars and events

Has anybody, including Apple, figured out how to mass delete multiple duplicate events in iCal and in iPhone's Calendars. .... And, how to avoid these annoying mass duplicates, i.e., without having to reset iPhone and iCal? This seems to be a syncing problem, probably in the resetting section of .Mac preferences, which may be the culprit in creating these mass duplications.

I had an issue with many calendar events being duplicated in Entourage and my iPhone. I'm running OS X 10.4.11, iTunes 7.7.1, Office 2008. This has worked for me (naturally, I take no responsibility for your data. These are the steps I ran through with Apple tech support for my setup and worked for me. I hope it will work for you, too).
Solution from Apple as follows:
1. Sync iPhone (if you have new items to sync with your calendar/contacts).
2. Delete all of your duplicates from the contact list and calendar.
3. Open iSync (under applications)
4. Select Preferences (under iSync)
5. Click on Reset Sync History (bottom of dialog box). Note: if this is greyed out, try connecting your phone to your computer.
6. Open iTunes
7 Select your iPhone in the left side window
8. Select the Info tab across the top of the main window.
9. Scroll down to the Advanced section and check off Contacts and Calendars under Replace information on this iPhone.
10. Click apply
11. Click sync
iSync will now write the contacts and calendar information from your computer to your phone. Once this is done go back to the info tab in iTunes (step 9) and uncheck contacts and calendars in the Advanced section. Click Apply.
I hope this helps (and I hope Apple views this post and gives their blessing).

  • Calendars and events are missing from iCal

What happened was I closed the lid of my MacBook Pro to put it to sleep. When I opened the lid to wake it, the screen was dark, like it was between 0 brightness and the lowest brightness setting. It also was not responding to trackpad or keyboard input, so I restarted it. However, when my computer started up, it seems as if my Mail.app had reset and everything was gone from my iCal. With Mail.app, after I redid one account, it seemed to return to normal. With iCal, I tried to sync it with my Palm, hoping that my calendars and events would get transferred to iCal. However, that didn't work, and I am getting errors with Missing Sync. The errors I'm getting are:
    OK TimeCopy
    OK Mark/Space Conduit for AvantGo
    OK Mark/Space Contacts
    SyncClient error. Mingling failed.
    OK Mark/Space Events with 1 message(s)
No folders have been selected to synchronize.
    OK Mark/Space Folder Sync
    OK Mark/Space MemoPad
    OK Mark/Space Photos
This conduit cannot be synchronized because there are no writable calendars available to synchronize. To correct this, select a writable calendar in the conduit's configuration window.
    No writable calendars exist
    OK Mark/Space Tasks with 2 message(s)
    OK Adobe Reader
    OK Documents To Go
    OK Note Pad
Anyone have ideas where the issue is?

If you want to use your back up you need to restore then entire Library from Time Machine, and then replace the damaged Library with it.

  • Calendars and event data lost in mountain lion upgrade from snow leopard on mac book pro

I just upgraded to mountain lion today. It appears my contacts and emails were transferred without loss to the new system but all of my calendar data and the calendars themselves have disappeared. Does anyone know how I can get my old calendars and event data back? I backed up my laptop on time machine before doing the upgrade, so my old calendars should be on my external hard drive. I'd like to simple recover the data from the laptop if it is just hidden somewhere. Alternatively, if someone could tell me how to import the backed up calendars back in that might be a good plan B. I also still have the old calendars on my iphone which I am afraid to sync for fear of data loss.
I looked through previous responses in the community to this same question and I tried deleting the account and adding it back in but that did not work. Any assistance would be appreciated. Apple support is giving me an cold shoulder that is rather unexpected given my past good experience with Apple support. Bummin out over here

Which way do you reinstall OSX?
I would go through the recovery partition, check Disk there and then run the installer. make sure you have a reliable connection the the Internet.
This could be a third party app you have running in the background that is crashing. what exactly is crashing ?
    are you getting kernel Panics?
You are not able to simply roll back to Snow Leopard, you will have to have a SL disk, and then erase and install SL onto you hdd/ssd. This will erase ALL of your data so I hope you have a Time Machine backup or bootable clone.
I believe your issue is with a third party application installed.
    More information is needed.

On a personal note, I think you are missing out on ML and need to figure out if there is an application running that is causing ML to crash.
Usually a reinstall fixes my issues.

  • Lost all calendars and events

i tried to sync ical and a google calendar, and it worked for a bit, but then suddenly all my calendars and events disappeared.
now i cant even open the preferences window or add any events at all
when i double click on the "to do" section, i get a popup that says
"You can’t change events or to do items in the selected calendar. Only the calendar administrator and any delegates with permission can make changes to read-only calendars. To make changes to the calendar, contact the calendar administrator."
can anyone help me fix this? id like to recover my events and calendars

I've had the exact same issue -- I had calendars last week, now nothing (and I can't add any calendars, even though it's my home computer and I have the admin password, of course.) I thought it might have been caused by Yahoo!, Google, or my 3rd-party software (Missing Sync) but I think you have at least allowed me to narrow it down to Google.
Did you ever get your issue resolved?

  • Getting rid of duplicate calendars and contacts.

I made the mistake of syncing my iPhone while I also had MobileMe sync running. As a result I have calendar and contact duplicates of my Mac and of MobileMe account. I want to get rid of my Mac info and just use the MobileMe sync info. From here on out I will only use MobileMe to sync my iPhone. Does anyone know how to easily get rid of this other set of calendar and contact Mac info?

Probably the easiest way would be to delete the MobileMe account and then re-add it - you should then be prompted to either keep the data on the iPhone, or delete it.

  • Where are my calendars and events?

    Hello everybody!
I am a frequent user of iCal, but something weird is happening now. I started up my Macbook (10.5.6) and it is not working. When I start up iCal, my calendars list is empty, and so are all my events. iTunes (when I look under "info" and "calendars") shows me a list of calendars called "Untitled", but iCal refuses to admit any exist. Can anybody please help me!! At the moment, I am entering new events on my iPod, but I cannot rename any of the untitled calendars and I cant do anything with iCal. Stupid thing.
I didnt have this problem last week, only today (Friday). Last I used iCal was Monday, so almost five days ago, and it was perfectly fine.
    Thanks to all who help!
    James

OK. I just got off the phone with a dude at Apple. Here's what we did:
After playing around with .plist files etc. we made a new account to see where the problem was ( /Library or /Users/~~/Library). The error was in my library folder, because the other account had a working version of iCal.
Once we got that far, we had two choices:
    1. Take out all of the folders in the library folder and place them into library.old, and drag 'n' drop one folder at a time whilst logging in and out of the machine after each one to isolate the error.
    Or
    2. Use a Leopard Disc to conduct an Archive & Install process, which will move the entire contents of the OS into a folder called "Previous System" in the root of the hard drive, and then the installer would install a clean OS.
However, each of those would take a considerable amount of time, but the Archive & Install would be easier. Then the Apple guy had an idea:
We moved the Calendars folder (in the library folder of your account ie James/Library/) to the desktop, and then we emptied *the contents of* the caches folder (don't delete the folder itself he said) and empty the trash. When the trash is emptied, move the calendars folder back into the Library folder, log out and in, and when iCal starts the error is fixed!
Hooray! The iCal issue is solved! Well, mine is! Hopefully this will fix yours too!

  • Trouble with calendar and events populating phone

I am having a significant amount of trouble with getting my phone to populate my calendar and my events.  I have had trouble with this since I got my phone at the end of April and I am getting tired of it.  If i put new calendar entries in on my local calender or I sync from my active sync calender, the result is the same - nothing will show.  The strange thing is is that the reminders will open up, everything is invisible to me.  I've reinstalled the software and have been through the settings on my calender accounts.  I am a business person and this is very important to me and I am starting to get frustrated with this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ok, I finally figured it out or better I finally got it to work after playing with it. For those who have the same issues I will give you the steps I have taken. It might sound a bit senseless but I didn't know what I was doing might actually make it work.
Anyways, I read somewhere that in order to be able to set a default Calendar in Settings they added a CalDAV account. I didn't have one but I do have a gmail account. Before adding that I tried again turning on and off the iCloud calendar which didn't help.
Then I went to the ical app on the iphone and added a new calendar which I called the same as my main one on the iCloud site (HomeCloud). I rebooted the phone every time I made a change. But didn't help either.
Then I deleted my iCloud account on the iphone reboooted and added it again, rebooted. Now the "Calendars" calendar was not on the iphone anymore but I could see my main HomeCloud, my UK Holiday and the gmail account calendar but nothing was synced.
Last step I tethered the iphone to my imac and synced via iTunes again and voila I could see everything synced correctly. Last thing I had to uncheck the gmail calendar on the iphone because it was set as the default and now the events I put in the iphone sync correctly with the iCloud site and my icals on my machines.
I hope this will help whoever has the same issue.

  • Passport Hub Calendars and Events

Picked up a Passport and am evaluating if it makes sense to move back to platform. Currently using with Google Business Apps. No problem setting up the account. In calendars, it shows all of the shared calendars within our company, about 20. I go into calendars, swipe down, and only select my calendar. It then is the only one that shows up but in Hub, I still get notifications and any event on any calendar shows up in hub. I would expect that the settings for calendar would propagate down but this appears not to be the case. These are not subscribed calendars but all of the calendars under one account. Seems like Hub is lacking what calendars can be shown in for notifications. I am missing something? Any guidance would be helpful. Thanks.

  • Every calendar and event has disappeared

I just went to add an event to iCal and every single calendar (I had 5) and entry has disappeared. About a week before this happened I decided to try the Outlook calendar for work purposes and was synching between the two. (I have no other devices besides this laptop.) Synching was working until this happened. Fortunately, the Outlook calendar retained all calendars/events but the iCal calendar is empty.  I've seen this problem on older discussions but no resolution.

The All Images is a search of all images on the hard drive and would include those in the library.  if you deleted all of the photos listined in the All Images that would include all of those in the library.
To check to see if you have any of your original photos in the library open the iPhoto Library package as shown in this screenshot:
Then open the Originals folder and check the subfolders to see if the image files are there or not.
DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES TO THE CONTENTS OF THE LIBRARY PACKAGE.
If the sub folders are empty you have trashed your library.  If the files are there then you can start over with a new library and import just the Originals folder into it.

  • Calendar and Events Usage

After ios 7, my calendar on my iPad takes up 11gb of space. Same calendar on iPhone is 3.3mb.  Any ideas for a fix?

All I can suggest is that you erase and restore, using iTunes, from a backup that pre-dates IOS 7 or doesn't have the bloated memory problem. I tried restoring the iPad (through the cloud and thru iTunes) from an earlier backup, but the problem wasn't solved. I also tried to turn the calendar off and back on, but the iPad froze trying to turn the calendar off.  Good luck.

  • Duplicate Calendar Entries with MobileMe

Hi, I keep getting duplicate entries on my iPhone for any event that i enter. In the Calendar options on my iPhone i can choose either "from my mac", which is fine or "all mobileme" which is what i want to use but don't want the duplicate events.

This means you are syncing calendar events over the air with your MobileMe account on your iPhone and syncing calendar events direct with iCal on your Mac via the iTunes sync process, which is not required and duplicates the calendars and events on your iPhone.
Deselect sync calendars under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes and select Apply.
On your iPhone, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    Select your MobileMe account.
Turn Calendars off for over the air syncing with your MobileMe account. This will delete all calendars and calendar events on your iPhone that were downloaded from your MobileMe online calendar with a warning message provided indicating this will occur.
Select OK and wait a minute or two for all online calendars and calendar events to be erased from your iPhone.
Follow this by turning Calendars back on for over the air syncing. A Merge prompt will be provided. Select OK.
    Duplicates will be gone.

  • I use a Win7 PC with iCloud and Outlook 2010 for syncing my calendar and contacts. I can enter data in my Outlook Calendar and it will appear in iCloud, but data entered in iCloud does not sync back to Outlook.  ICloud syncs to my iphone fine both ways.

I use Win 7 PC with iCloud and Outlook 2010 for syncing my Contacts and Calendar.  They have stopped syncing...mostly.
Now, appointments I enter on my local Outlook (iCloud) Calendar goes up to iCloud fine.  But, data I enter on iCloud directly does not come down to my local Outlook iCloud Calendar.  If I reboot the computer, the iCloud data shows up.
Also, Contacts I try to enter on my Outlook (iCloud) Contacts goes up to iCloud fine, but does not show up in my local iCloud Contacts.
All syncing works with my iPhone.
I have signed out of iCloud on PC.  I have stopped syncing and re-started.  No change.
I have an .aplzod folder for iCloud.  I have a separate Earthlink.net.pst email account in Outlook and a me.com.pst Outlook email account (which I don't actually use) listed under Data Files.
Any help would be appreciated.  Curious that Outlook will upload to iCloud but not receive downloads unless I reboot.  However, rebooting does not download the missing Contacts.
    Jim Robbins

    Hi Jim!
You've started off with some good troubleshooting steps, so let's see if we can take this a little further and figure out what the issue is with your iCloud contacts and calendars. I have two articles here that will help you troubleshoot this issue a little further, but the troubleshooting steps for both articles are exactly the same, so I will lay those out for you here:
Note: When using iCloud Control Panel 2.0 and later, iCloud Calendar event descriptions in Outlook 2010 do not support text formatting (bold, italics, or underline), HTML, images, or attachments. The contextual (right-click) menu has also been disabled.
If you are having trouble with a PC (with Outlook 2007 or 2010) and iCloud Calendar, try each of these steps, testing after each to see if the issue is resolved:
Verify that you are using a Windows configuration that is supported by iCloud. For more information, see iCloud system requirements.
When enabling Calendars in the iCloud Control Panel, part of the setup process is to copy your Calendars data from the default Outlook ".pst" file to iCloud, and then remove the Calendars from the ".pst" file by placing them in the Deleted Items folder in Outlook. The Calendars data is then stored in the iCloud data set within Outlook so that changes can be pushed to and from Outlook by iCloud. Be sure you are looking for your data within the iCloud dataset within Outlook after enabling Calendars in the iCloud Control Panel. The deleted files can be seen by viewing Deleted Items within your Outlook Folder List. This is not iCloud removing your data; iCloud simply copies your data into the iCloud data set and then removes the local Calendars data by placing it in the Deleted Items folder.
Make sure your computer is online. Attempt to view www.apple.com and iCloud.com. If you can't connect to the Internet, your iCloud calendars and events will not update in Outlook. Click here for more information about troubleshooting your Internet connection.
Open a secure website to test if you are online as is necessary for iCloud Calendar. This also tests if the ports 80 and 443 are accessible. Outlook requires port 443 access to iCloud in order to push and pull updates to and from the iCloud Calendar servers.
Verify that your iCloud member name is entered into the iCloud Control Panel pane. See iCloud Setup for more information about setting up iCloud on Windows.
Completely close and reopen the iCloud Control Panel.
If you recently made changes in Outlook and they are not moving to your other devices or vice-versa, click the Refresh button in Outlook.
Turn iCloud Calendar off and back on:
    Close Outlook.
    Open the Windows Control Panel:
In Windows 8, move the pointer to the upper-right corner of the screen to show the Charms bar, click the Search charm, and then click the iCloud Control Panel on the left.
In Windows 7 and Vista, choose Start menu > All Programs > iCloud > iCloud.
Remove the checkmark in the checkbox next to Mail, Contacts, Calendars & Tasks, and click Apply. Wait a few seconds, then replace the checkmark, and click Apply.
Open Outlook and test to see if the issue has been resolved.
Ensure the iCloud Outlook Add-in is active within Outlook.
    Outlook 2010:
    Open Outlook 2010.
    Click the File menu.
Click Options in the left panel of the Outlook window.
Click Add-Ins in the left panel of the Outlook Options window.
Look at the list of add-ins beneath "Active Application Add-Ins" and verify that the "iCloud Outlook Add-in" is listed.
For Outlook 2007, follow these steps to verify the iCloud Outlook Add-in is active
    Open Outlook 2007.
From the Tools menu, choose Trust Center.
Select Add-ins from the left column.
Look at the list of add-ins beneath "Active Application Add-Ins" and verify that the "iCloud Outlook Add-in" is listed.
For additional information about managing Add-ins with Microsoft Outlook, see this Microsoft support document.
Restart your computer. This may sound simple, but it does reinitialize your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.

  • Calendars lose events

Why has iCal suddenly lost most of my events?
    How can I restore them?

Just found out a way to restore it, I had the same problem.
    1) Using the time machine backup, get your calendar files (<hard drive>/Users/<your user name>/Library/Application Support/iCal /Sources/Calendars) then exit time machine
    2) Open Calendar and export a Calendar Archive to your desktop or wherever
    3) right click the .icbu file, show package contents, and then replace the Calendar folder with the one retrieved from the time machine back up.
    4) Import the file in Calendar, and boom. Old calendars and events are back.
