MASS MAINT OF USERS

Hi Ruchit,
I followed the steps u sent me.I understood it until the point where it exported the variants to desktop.Im creating many users(SU01).In the exported .txt file there are many fields like
variant fields , variant ID , &BRNAME ,&TITLE_MEDI, &NAME_LAST, &NAME_FIRST, &PASSWORD1, &AGR_NAM in the first row.
In the second row we have PARAMETER TEXTS CORRESPONDING TO ABOVE FIELDS LIKE USER, TITLE, LAST NAME, FIRST NAME, PASSWORD1,ROLE.
In the third row It has the details of the user i created while recording.(His name and his password etc)
Now tell me where do i enter the names of the other users and how. Do u want me to enter the names of the users just below the name of the user i created or should they be separated by commas or is ther any format. I tried both ways bcoz when i imported the .txt file after i entered the remeining users and executed it said " ERROR RREADIND VARIANTS" IN RED OBVIOUSLY. PLEASE TELL ME WHAT TO DO NEXT. SORRY FOR WRITING SUCH A LONG STORY. ITS ONLY FOR U TO KNOW WHERE IM STUCK. HOPE UCAN ANSWER ME

Hi Kranthi,
You need to add details of other users in rows below. In nutshell there will be entry for only one user in one single row. So it is row wise entry.
Please let me know if you need more details. And one more tip. Make sure that while ur executing CATT tool the txt file is not open anymore. Also dont use SU01 while using this particular CATT utility for user creation. Also one more thing dont try to assign roles to the users using the CATT tool. Choose SU10 for that.

I have never used the assignment of licenses via roles since it doesn't fit in our licensing concept,
but:
1) I think there will be now difference except the way how you assign the license
2) I would prefere user licensing...
For sap a user typically has one role that describes all his activities. But in our small company we have many user with acivities cross applications. So we cannot use sap standard role concept. Instead I have created a structure based on our company organization and use multiply roles to combine a end user role.
Think also about DUMMY users (for example for background processing or mailing) - normally these users need permissions for the corresponding applications but you will license them as test users.
3) when you look at the predefinied values you will see that there is not really a great number of preassigned roles
4) you can add your own roles to the list of license/role assignment
5) no idea, just try..

SECATT - Mass creation of users with different assigned roles

Hello! I've been tasked with creating an eCATT to do a mass creation of users and each user will have a different role assigned (besides the general roles). We're doing this to test out the different roles we have created. I've done some searching through the forums and found some different ideas but I'm not sure they are exactly what I need. One suggestion was to use SU10 to make the role assignement but I'm guessing I would still need to setup a parameter for each role so I would initially need to know how many roles would be entered. I would like for the eCATT to be able to handle assigning multiple roles to a user with each user possibly getting a different number of roles. Would anyone be able to suggest a way to assign different roles to different users through an eCATT?

Hi Wendy,
To create users, maybe SU01 or SU10 can be used. To assign users to a role, maybe you can try with PFCG.
SU01 and SU10 have the view from the user - for each user, different roles can be selected and assigned to that user.
PFCG has the view of roles - for each role, different users can be selected and assigned to that role.
Hence if you know which roles should be assigned to which users, PFCG might be easier.

Mass upload of user photos in EP

Hi All,
I have to do a mass upload of user photos in EP. I tried it in two ways.
1.     In a network folder say
173.XX.XX.XXUserPhotos, I stored the photos and then I used the Mass photo upload iview, which is available inside collaboration demo role.
2.     I created a new task and given the below parameters,
1.     Task nameà MyPhotUpload
2.     Upload from folder à
173.XX.XX.XXUserPhotos
3.     Photo Typeà NORMAL
I clicked on save and then I run the task. I didnu2019t got any errors, at the same time I didnu2019t got any output also.
Then I tried it this way.
I created a nework path in System Administration à System Configuration à KM à CMà Global Services à Network Path (really sorry if I am being stupid)
Here I specified the network path and the login credential required to access this folder and named this network path as u201CMyNetWrkPathu201D
Now, I came back to mass upload ivew, there I deleted the old task and created a new task with
a.     Task Name à MyPhotoUpload2
b.     Upload from folder à MyNetWrkPath
c.     Photo Typeà NORMAL
I clicked on Save and then I run the task. Again the same result. No errors no success.
PS: I already specified the photo type check and photo size check in System Administration à System Configuration à KM à CMà Global Services àUserPhoto
Somebody please help me.

Hi,
it seems the portal doesn't have permissions to read contents from this physical folder.
Try to import a sample photo with "apply checked conditions" unchecked in mass upload iView.
If that doesn't help then try to increase the trace level to INFO for this app in Visual Administrator and see what is causing
the problems.
The location is com.sap.netweaver.kmc.people.photo.admin .
Eventuallly try to import files from local folder instead of network share.

Unless I'm missing it in your post, I do not see that you have also installed, to the PC, the required software?

You must do so in order for the necessary drivers to be installed to the PC, so that it can communicate with the BB via USB. This also should enable USB charging from the PC.

Check in mass WBS status (user or system)

Hello Gurus,
Does someone know if there exists a standard report allowing us to display in mass the system and the user status assigned to a WBS?
Or do we have to write a specific one using function BAPI_BUS2001_GET_STATUS?

Mass deletion of users business partner and position in SRM 4.0

Hi Experts,
We have a requirement of deleting 1000 + users who are locked in ECC from SRM Organization structure. For which I got the list of users who are under u201Cdeleteu201D group from table USR02. Then I found the business partner number of those users from table BUT000. Once I got the BP number I can do mass deletion of the BPs by using BUPA_DEL.
Now, my problem is I need to mass delete the position of the users as well. If I delete it one user at a time I can go to PPOMA_BBP and select the position and delete the object. Can anyone please help me on how can I do mass deletion of the positions of those users, its pretty urgent. I am waiting for your valuable suggestions.

Hi Velu,
To find the business partner or the central person id we can' go to table HRP1001 and get the central person id / business partner by inputing the parameters in the selection field as :
Object type : CP / BP
Rel. Obj.type: US
ID rel. object : Give the id of the user
this shows the object id . Anyway thanks for your help .

Mass Upload of user favourites from 4.6 to ERP 6.0

We have a client who is Upgrading from 4.6c to ERP 6.0
All of the users use their favourites for the transactions that they use.
We are aware of the functionality to extract and upload the favs, however this will involve users.
Is there a way to MASS upload all of the favs into ERP 6.0?
What tables, structures are the favs held in?
How have you overcome this in other Upgrade projects?

Are you going to do an Upgrade or will you be doing a re-implementation and data migration?
If you are upgrading the favourites will still be available to the users in the target system after the upgrade.
If you are re-implementing I am not sure there is a standard way for mass export/import.
What I would suggest is stepping through function Module MENU_FAVORITES_DOWNLOAD and try to simulate this for all users.

How to use Forms10g to send mass email to users via MS Outlook?

Does anyone has tried to write a Forms that retrieve emails from a database schema and then send mass emails to these users viad Microsoft Outlook? If yes, would you like to share your valuable experience with us?

i would be easier to depend on database packages for achieving this result, whether you create procedures or database triggers, you can still invoke these construct form your form. If you database is a 10g database, it is easier to handle mass email since there is an already built-in package for this.
below is an example

If you database is oracle 9i, then you have to depend on packages like UTL_SMTP , UTL_TCP. i have another example that uses the sames sample code that Mark refered to and you can find such example at my website

I wanted to delete a list of user groups in PRD system.
do we have any options to delete in mass, instead of deleting it one by one in SUGR. As we have SU10 for mass user changes.

Hi Deepan,
One way is
1. Go to SE16 -> USR02 table
2. Acquire the list of people belonging to the group you want to delete
3. Go to SU10 -> Click "Authorization Data" , Paste all the users copied in Step 2 and then execute and transfer the list to SU10 and delete all the users.
By the way, i don't recall the source, i read somewhere that it is not recommended to delete users in PRD.

Mass assignment Of users

You can do mas assignment of roles to the users.
Step1: Prepare a notpad file with the below format.
[User]
uid=User1
role=role1;role2;role3;
[User]
uid=User2
role=role1;role2;
[User]
uid=User3
role=role1;role2;
Step2: Goto User Administration and choose Import/Export
Step3: From Detailed Navigation, choose User Data Import. Then enter the File Location and press button Import.

Mass change of user roles

Dear all,
we have created near by 20 user roles in our BW system for one area, the roles consist of the same authorizations but different company codes.
Now we must extend all this roles by some settings.
Is there a tool or a helpful way to change all roles together, because all roles will get the same changes.
It will take a lot of time to change all roles manually.
It could also be, that I must change this roles in the future again,
therefore we need an effective solution for this problem

I would often try recording the first change as a test script in SCAT, then export a default variant and try updating all the roles at once. With PFCG this method is prone to error if the roles have different amounts of authorisation objects in them.
Also, if you don't like the above method, use SUPC to group the roles in an overall list, then work through each one methodically - the advantage with using SUPC in the "All Roles " mode, is that you can access the authorisations directly rather than having to go into Role description tab, choose auths tab, hit the pencil. might not sound much but if you ar changing a lot ANY time saver is welcome

Mass Changes to Users

Dear Gurus,
We are in work of cleaning roles in the systems.
For this, I'm using SU10 for deleting a role assigned to 1000 users.
But I'm not able to see the changes after this was done.
Please do help me in this.

Good question, we did it last week with our education users, but it seemed not to work. We only had to change 10 users, so we did it manually, that was faster.
Are there any other suggestions?
