Mass maintainenance of material master for the field MARC-NCOST,SOBSK

Hi
While maintaining two fields NCOST and SOBSK for hude materials using MM17 transaction, the transaction executed properly while saving the transaction. There is no warning and error messages for all materials. But it was not updated in material master or in tables. for other field relavent to MRP updated correctly.
when I am maintaining manually for each material it is taking the value update the same.
Please explain the problem why it was not updating and let me know the solution.

You wanted to maintain an existing material master record as follows:
By changing it
However, you have not yet maintained the material master record for the organizational levels and data fields specified, or user departments selected. You can therefore process this data only in Create mode.
By extending it
However, you have already fully created the material master record for the organizational levels and data fields specified, or user departments selected. You can therefore process this data only in Change mode.
In both cases, this message can appear if there is no maintainable user department left. This occurs if you have not set the Check required fields indicator when transferring data (program RMDATIND). Although the absence of an entry in required fields does not then necessarily result in an error, the number of maintainable user departments is reduced accordingly.
Procedure
Depending on the cause, maintain the material master record in Create or Change mode, or also transfer the missing required fields."
where can I find IDoc list for this transaction.

As this BAPI is triggered from external sytem that by client in production environment , I would not be able to dig it further.
Thats why I asked if anybody confronted the same error previously.

Material Master for IS Media

Hello All,
I am working on SAP IS Media Project for a publication company.
I have created the material master for the Books as per the heirarchy means Prodyct Family, Product group and Issue. with all ISBN
now these issues of books may belong to a series. my question is how to create a series in SAP and how do i assign the books belonging to these series. in SAP we have standard material type MSUB for series product creation.
but how I can assign the various isues to this searies

I solved this problem by myself. FYI while loading Product hirarchy data there is a filed called ISMHIERARCHLEVL which we need to assign the category, '1' for family, '2' for product and '3' for issue.

Mass changes of Material Master field with different values

Hi,
How to change a field in Material Master for more than thousand materials. I think MM17 can only be used for mass changes of materials with same values. I need to upload different values for different materials. Is there any other way to do this.

I think you have to use LSMW for mass updation for Material Master fields with different values.

In material master not all fields show the description of their value

Gurus -
Certain fields in the material master show their description text along.
Example -
Base Unit of Measure - EA      each
The description Text 'Each' which represent 'EA' comes from text Table T006A-MSEHT
Not all fields in material master show the description of what they represent. (only appear on F4 popup)
I want this description to come up for MARA-MAGRV field.
I want the configured value description for this field to appear on the screen.
I have 3 values put in this MARA-MAGRV
Z001 - description text 1
Z002 - description text 2
Z003 - description text 3
in MM01/MM02/MM03 only Z001 is see, not it description.
Here is what i tried
Added TVEGRT-BEZEI (desc field) in Transaction OMSR and assigned selection group 103 which holds MARA-MAGRV field too
any config missing?? what say?

You have to find out the conversion routine for domain MAGRV and enter in the convers. routine field.
if did not find one than you have create custom (take ABAPer help)
go to SE11 adn enter the domain MAGRV and hit display
on the definition tab you will see the conversion routine
here you need to populate the appo. conversion routine to see the text on the materia screen.
Conversion takes place when converting the contents of a screen field
from display format to SAP-internal format and vice versa and when
outputting with the ABAP statement WRITE, depending on the data type of
the field.
If standard conversion is not suitable, it can be overridden by
specifying a conversion routine in the underlying domain.
A conversion routine is identified by its five-place name and is stored
as a group of two function modules. The function modules have a fixed
naming convention. The following function modules are assigned to
conversion routine xxxxx:
o CONVERSION_EXIT_xxxxx_INPUT
o CONVERSION_EXIT_xxxxx_OUTPUT
The INPUT module performs the conversion from display format to internal
format. The OUTPUT module performs the conversion from internal format to
display format.
If a screen field refers to a domain with a conversion routine, this
conversion routine is executed automatically each time an entry is made
in this screen field or when values are displayed with this screen field.

Material Master: Update the Z fields using BAPI

Hi to all,
My requirement is simple. But I do not have much knowledge on BAPI. I have got some information that we can extend th BAPI and update the Z fields in material master. I have added the z fields in MARA. So when I call the bapi z fields has to get update.
Which BAPI can i use? I have got one BAPI - BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA. plz suggest me to do it.
1. how do i enhance the BAPI or extend th BAPI.
2. Is ther any approch to do it.

Hi,
Append the z fields to BAPI_TE_MARA and BAPI_TE_MARAX structures using append structures.
Populate two structures for the fields in BAPI_TE_MARA and BAPI_TE_MARAX.
To BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA, under EXTENSIONIN parameters, pass structure name as BAPI_TE_MARA and Value Part1, 2, 3, 4 with the filled structure info.
Similarly append X structure as well.

Error Field selection in material master for Tax

While creating material master MM01 in Sales orgn tab when I am trying to save HST tax for Canada, it is disappearing. Although I have classified customer tax & material tax in IMG-Sales & distribution as 1 & 0 both.
In MM I can see HST either 0 or 1 when pressing F4
I tried Log General/Material Master/Field Selection/Maintain Filed selection for data screen
I tried 0001 group but when opened it gives various numbers for optional/required/supressed/display entry
Which number is used for TAX? I could not identified.
Can any one tell me what is transaction code for field selection group for material master for making Tax Required Field?

Hello,
Tax problem is resolved by me only.
In Tax classification IMG/Sales & Dist/Taxes/Define Tax determination Rule
HST number was 4 I made as number 1 followed by CTX1 as 2 CTX2 as 3.....so on
So it picked up HST now as this was number one. Now in MM Tax is mandatory as I put 1 & in pricing it picked up.

Hi Mannev.
I don't think that you will find GBSTK in any master data source. It is however available in 2LIS_11_VASTH.

Error during Mass Maintenance of Material Master

Dear All SAP guru,
During mass maintenance of order unit ( PCS) and variable order unit "1" (Active) from T-code MM17, system is giving one error message.
Error Mess: 30000052280140 : Messages have been issued: number MASS000120000000 and notification No.:
MK101.
While system allowing automatically to log through MM90, but after puting the log no.: MASS000120000000, system is not execting.
Pl suggest ....as conversation factor is also maintained in material master for this.

Value cannot be interpreted as a floating-point number. Other terms
Reason and Prerequisites
The problem is caused by a program error.
The symptom occurs if during the maintenance of your own user profiles, you defined "Comma" for the decimal notation (Transaction SU3).
Due to a program error, the system saves the value of the field to be changed program-internally in the exponential display with "Point" as the decimal place (2.01E+00).
Solution :
You have implement the solution mentioned in the note .

Mass change of material master

Hi Experts,
I have a query regarding mass change to be done in material master. I need to update one value in the Material group 4 field in sales org view 2 in MM02 transaction for nearly 300000 materials. One option i find is LSMW and the other i saw is transaction MM17. Please let me know how feasible is this MM17 transaction? Is it possible to upload all the 30000 materials through MM17 transaction in one go and update the field? Will there be any performance issue if MM17 transaction is used?
Please give your suggestion.

Hi,
Use MM17,
Goto the Transaction code MM17 and in the table check the MVKE- sales org data for material
and select the Fields tab and choose the field MVKE-MVGR4 and execute
Now enter all the materials in the next screen for which you want to change and execute
In the next screen you can maintain the new values for the old

The value 1 is not allowed for the field variace key

Hi experts,
When i was creating material master i was getting the status message as "the value 1 is not allowed for the field variance key" , but its stopping there its not moving out of that screen and creating the material record. When i see this field in the material master configuration its an optional field. Can you give me suggestions, where it can go wrong.
