Mass rename of every photo and sequential numbering of every future download

Is it possible to have iphoto 9.6 mass rename every single photo I have sequentially so there are no duplicate file names and then pull in every new photo no matter the source with sequential file names so there is never a duplicate?

no
iPhoto makes no changes of any sort when it imports - you can rename the files when you export but not when miporting or while photos are in iPhoto

I am using my own Apple ID. (My father doesn't even have one). I seem to recall having to select a contact or something to assign to my iMessage app when I used it the first time on my iPad. I checked the settings and it is set to my apple ID and correct email address. Any other ideas?

Lync client gets user photos by first querying the Address Book Web Query (ABWQ) service on the server, which is exposed through the Distribution List Expansion web service. The client receives
the image file and then copies it to the user's cache to avoid downloading the image each time it needs to be displayed. The attribute values returned from the query are also stored in the cached Address Book Service entry for the user. The Address Book Service
deletes all cached images every 24 hours, which means that it can take up to 24 hours for new user images to be updated in the cache on the server.
To troubleshoot your problem, please follow the steps below:
1. Navigate to
“X:\share\1-WebServices-1\ABfiles\000000000\000000000” folder. (ABS file share)
You should see some photo files in this folder as the following screenshot.
2. Delete all the files in this folder.
3. On test PC, delete local cache files.

4. Sign-in Lync with the test account.
5. Go back to the ABS file share, check if there is any Photo file in the folder.

[Solve] Bash: Rename file in folder to sequential numbers saving path

I have a folder with many subfolders with many files. I want to rename all files to sequential numbers (0001.jpg, 0002.jpg, .0003,jpg ...) but i want to save the path. I mean that the files should not be saved in the root directory (where i launched the script), but I want them to remain in original subdirectorys. How can i do this?

If you want to specify $PWD, just call the script with an argument of '.' to point it at PWD.

It's simple recursion. You don't want to rename directories, you want to process the contents of the directory in the same way you're processing the current directory.

Stores in dest... what? I assume that %s is a string as in C language, infact you give "$1" as argument (but why?). And I assume that "$((++i))" is like i=$((i+1)). Is it right?
It's the bash equivalent of sprintf(3).

You weren't really clear in your requirements, so I wrote it as I interpreted it. If you want to reset the numbering for each directory, scope 'i' locally:

Ipad form ....help needed please. Clear form after email as read only and sequential numbering

i am a complete novice at this however this is what I want to achieve.
i Have a paper duplicate report sheet that I want to get electronically, I want to be able to add sequential numbers to each report and be able to email the report to the client from a email field in the form
so far I have so I have created the pdf form, I have a button that runs a JavaScript that will hide the submit button and then send to the clients email and to bcc myself so I have a copy of the report also. This has been tested and works
i Am struggling with sequential numbering and once the form has been emailed it's un-ditable as the JavaScript has converted it to read only for emailing which is good as it can't be edited. But Is there a way on my submit button to email the report as read only and then clear all form fields in the report ready for filling with the next sequential number?
I Have had a good look sound for a resolution to this but am struggling

Please note that the Reader/Acrobat DC mobile apps (for iOS, Android, Windows Phone, etc.) have limited JavaScript support.

You may be able to make the form work as you want in the desktop version of Adobe Reader/Acrobat Reader DC. However, some functionality (e.g adding a sequence number to each PDF) will not work in the mobile apps due to the limited JavaScript support. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Best Place to Purchase Dynamic PAID Stamp and Sequential Numbering Stamp?

I'm trying to find the best way to have a dynamic PAID stamp that I can input the date and method of payment, as well as a stamp to sequentialy number different paragraphs in a document (currently I have to insert a small text box with the # I want, then copy, paste, and edit that same text box for the next paragraph I want to number). Just downloaded the free trial of Acrobat XI Pro, and it has no better features to meet these need than the Acrobat X Standard I have been using. Yes, I know dynamic stamps can be created, but I would rather find a good place to download what I need or a good 3rd party software for stamps, for a reasonable price, and not spend the time and effort building something from scratch.
If someone knows the best way to go about this, will I need to upgrade from X Standard to XI Pro to execute these stamps?
Is there a sequential numbering stamp tool that will stamp numbers one after another with a left click rather than having to select the stamp icon each time?

Assigning sequential numbers for every lines within a group of records

The scenario is:
This set of records with group number, lets say 100(group number) contains 7 lines/records. How to assign line numbers (sequential) for each line within these groups on the fly during the mapping process before inserting these set of rows in the target. I know it is easy to achieve in a procedure, but not sure how to do this in the mapping.

Missing photos and NONE of my recent camera downloads stay

I have been browsing the forums and it seems there isn't a solution for this but I will still post it anyway.
I just tried to download the latest photos of my daughter into iphoto, it came in ok so I told it to delete the photos off of the camera.
Once it finished I noticed that all my thumbnails were the same. The photos were different when you open them or roll over them but the thumbnails were all the same when you didn't hover over any.
I was not sure what had happened, so I decided to restart the program. It said it was backing up critical data so I left it alone. When I opened up iphoto again the last import was gone.
After closer inspection I noticed that everything that I had been downloading into iphoto was gone all the way back to October 2nd. I download pictures everyday into my iphoto so this was a shocker to me.
I didn't realize if it was now or if it had been doing it since the 2nd.
I asked myself why the 2nd and realized it was the same day I created a second iphotos library on my local machine. My current (large) library is hosted on an external harddrive on the network. If its not connected iphoto usually asks me to look for an alternate place to load it to. I then turn on the harddrive and select that library.
Is there any way of me getting back these 2 weeks or just todays photos back?

It means that your main Library has a damaged database file.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

I have a 2009 macbook air with 10.6.8 and over 20gb of memory left and also 2mb, aka all of the requirements for mavericks, i've tried every solution and yet mavericks will still not download? Somebody please help me.

If you have TimeMachine, there is a hidden TM local file taking up the remaining space on the drive.
It's not counted on the size because it self scales as more of your user data is written to the drive.
Backup all your users files off the machine to a external storage drive (not TimeMachine as it will drastically change once Mavericks is installed) and phyically unmount/disonnect.
Next Trash > Empty Trash the users files on the boot volume that you copied to the external drive.
Paste this into Terminal to turn off TimeMacine local backups and press enter, enter your admin password and press enter
sudo tmutil disablelocal
(To re-enable it: sudo tmutil enablelocal)
then turn TimeMacine on/off and reboot the machine. Check your drive space now in Applications/Utilities > Activity Monitor.
Try the Mavericks upgrade again, check your machine specs (Apple menu > about this Mac > more info) for a model identifier and consult Apple's site if your machine can accept Mavericks.

Mind you that 10.7-10.9 will NOT run your currently installed PowerPC based software.
Some of your older software may cease to function (Intel processors or not) because of the huge jump in OS X versions.
If your not currently under AppleCare, I would advise against a OS X upgrade as it can have issues with your hardware and the firmware can brick the machine.

Vertical lines appear in every photo taken w my 3 yr old Power Shot A470.Can't get rid of them.Help?

in the midst of photo shoot yesterday, this vertical line pattern appeared in every photo and can't get rid of it. Triple checked all my settings, nothing's changed about how I take my photos.
Through the viewfinder when I prefocus I see the result of what my photo should look like after the shot, but after I take it, the shot is 50% lighter, with a horrible pattern of lines. Has my camera totally died? Does anyone know what I can do to fix this? I cannot take photos anymore with this all time favorite camera of mine

First try a complete reset if possible, I can't see it being the memory card but if you have a spare one try that.
One cause could be the sensor or the display itself, I've had faulty ribbon cables going to the display on TV sets causing similar problems.
I take it they are in the same place on every shot. What does a good photo show up like, i.e., one prior to this fault showing? This would point to the sensor or display, since the photo was taken previous to the fault it 'would' eliminate the sensor as this is only used when taking photos and not when 'viewing'.
Pity you couldn't post a sample as it *may* help.

Lost photos and programs

i'm a new mac user and now i have some problems and i don't know whats going on...it started with i photo one day all my photos where there the next more than half were gone and i don't know what happened? now the whole i photo looks like it restarted all my folders are gone every photo and when i opened it was as though it had never been used before... now i also see on my bar that the i movie turned into a questions mark?? i also had a program for my palm on the computer it also turned into a question mark and now it's gone.. i really have no idea about these computers and i really want to learn, but most of all see if i can get all my photos back...can anyone pls help me or maybe have a clue of what could be going on??????

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Are you seeing the thumbnails or not? If you're seeing thumbnails what do you see when you double click on one?
To make sure your photos are still safe and sound locate the iPhoto Library package in your Pictures folder. Control-click on it and select "Show Package Contents" in the Contextual menu. Then locate the Originals folder and check inside to make sure the full sized image files are there. Report back with what you find.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

The date information is taken from the camera which writes it to the file. This needs to be set to the correct date and time in the camera itself.
The order the images are shown in the Library mode is set by clicking on the sort button in the tool bar, which if not showing can be activated from view, tool bar. There are different sort orders that can be applied including sorting by file name. You can also sort by dragging the images to the order you wish them to appear in by selecting user order.

Reset sequential numbering when importing photos

I'm importing photos with a custom name. I'm trying to get the image #0001 to reset starting at 1. I cancelled the import the first time, so of course LR is now starting the import at a hgher sequential number. Somethng simple please. Any kind of workaround that lets me enjoy the vacation photos and not blow my weekend in front of a computer! Thanks. I see people posting the same question, but haven't found an answer.

I would suggest finishing the import if you haven't already, then select all the photos in this set, and then go to the Library menu: rename, and choose "custom name - sequence," and be sure to enter 1 as start number.
eta: you can also change the start number from the import window if you've chosen one of the options that includes "sequence."
