My system has slowed down to a crawl, sound is distorted and the screen flickers.  System Info says Mass Storage Controller is a probelm device.  The PNP Device ID is PCI\VEN_104&CDEV_8033&SUBSYS_309B103C&REV_00\4&13826118&0&23A4
I tried to fix it through Device Manager.  Device location is PCI Slot 3 (PCI bus 6 device 4 function 3)  Status is Code 28 - no drivers installed.  I tried to reinstall driver but don't have an installation disc and don'tknow where else to find it.
Can I download the drivers from HP  support onto a USB device on another computer and reinstall from the USB device into this computer and which specific driver do I need to install?  Help much appreciated. Thanks

That's the TI media card reader, driver for XP is here: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33001-33500/sp33439.exe
Though, if it was working before and now reporting problems in control panel, the reader might be having hardware problems.

  • Device Manager displayed " Mass Storage Controller (Code 28)"

    Greetings to all Members
I am using AMD 64 x2 3800+ processor. MSI mortherboard K8N Diamond. Graphic cards, two units, Geforce GTX6600GT. I am running on Window XP SP2. I have also updated the AMD latest drivers.
I noticed each time I log on the computer, the computer would prompt "New Mass Storage Hardware Found" and prompt the wizard to install new found hardware.
I went to device manager and noticed the device status display "This drivers for this device are not installed (Code 28). I have also carry out all the steps as suggested from the device manager menu. Mass Storage Controller location is: PCI Slot 9 (PCI 3, device 0, function 0 is displayed at the Mass Storage Controller Display. The device Instance ID display "PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3132&SUBSYS_710A1462&REV_01\4&14AECDBO&0&0060.
Try update driver option but to no success. Have all the driver systems (in the CD) that came together with the system installed as well. Again to no success in resoluting the problem.
To my horror after installing the drivers that I have downloaded from MSI website for the said board.
I notice the Virtual drive program failed to initialize.and the following messages were displayed during the installation of the website drivers for the said mortherboard:
There was a problem installing this hardware
    Mass Storage Controller
An error occured during the installation of the device. The name is already in use as either a service or a service display name.
Can someone please help me to resolve this problem? Any suggestion or advise would be sincerelt appreciated.
    Best Regards

Can someone please assist and provide me with some guidelines to resolve this problem.

    Hi Bas
I manage to remove the yellow exclamation mark from the hardware, device manager by setting the Integrated Peripherals on Board Sil3132 mode from Sata to Raid.
The Sata and Raid controllers is displayed and upon opening it up further, I noticed the following controllers are displayed:
    1 ) FarStone CDAWDM2001 SCSI Host Adapter.
    2)  Silicon Image SIL3132 SataRaid Controller.
Do you think I have set the right thing? Your kind opinion on this. I am using BIOS version used is 1.A
    Thanks

  • Unrecognised Mass Storage Controller on Satellite A100-680

    Hello,
I have a Satellite A100-680 (PSAA9E) that has been running XP Home for about two years. Very satisfied!
I decided to upgrade to Vista Business, which worked very well (actually impressed by easyness of install).
The machine works perfectly , there is only one irritating factor - under Device Manager - Other devices I have some thing called Mass Storage Controller and it does not have a driver loaded. I have been trying to locate one, but I have no idea what to look for.
Vista at some point suggested some Texas Instrument PCI device, but..... let me put it this way..... luckily I did not have to reinstall since I had made an image backup of the disks.
Can anyone give me a hint what I should look for.
    Thanks in advance
    Hans

Really nice, that your Win Vista installation worked so good.
For this unrecognised device, I too think that it is the Texas Instrument card reader.
    Go there: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com
And download the Flash Media Driver and maybe SD Memory Format. Install them, reboot and device should be installed without any problems.

  • Mass Storage Controller Error

    Hi all
I get a "Mass Storage Controller" error in device manager after a new install. I have nothing unusual in my opinion, my config is listed below. FYI - I havnt yet installed the drivers for "nVidia Firewall" and "Forceware Network Access Manager" - not sure if this could be related.
Does anyone know what could be causing this?
(some of you may recognise my request from a previous thread, which started to get off-topic so I started this new one)
    My config is:
Windows XP Pro (standard install without RAID drives for nVidia or SiS)
    MSI K8N Neo4 SLI Platinum
OCZ 520W Modstream in Thermaltake Tsunami Case
    Athlon 64 3000+
    Zalman 7000B Alcu cooler
    1 GB Crucial Ballistix PC3200
    Gigabyte 6600GT
    WD Caviar SE 80GB SATA
    Generic DVD-ROM
    Onboard audio
    USB Mouse
    USB Keyboard with Fingerprint Reader
    USB Gaming Device ("The Claw")

Problem solved - I disabled the SiS RAID controller
Interesting that it was giving a device error while set to Enabled/SATA

  • DV8225nr Mass Storage Controller driver, left mouse not working, and standby blinking light?

    Hello!
    1. Getting a yellow arrow in Device Manager for Other Devices>Mass Storage Controller. Online HP site scan can't find my computer. When I type model as DV8225nr, it's can't find that either. I need a driver so I can clear this question mark. Properties>Details> Device Instance ID is PCI\VEN_104C&DEV_8033&SUBSYS_309B103C&REV_00/4&13826118&23A4
    2. My daughter uses this computer so maybe through some key combination or switch or something (unless it just failed), the left mouse button doesn't work. I have to use a USB optical mouse. Any idea what I can look at to restore full functionality to the mouse/touchpad?
    3. At night, I notice that there is a flashing blue light comping from this computer. I think it's when it goes into standby. Any way to stop that flashing?
    I appreciate everyone's help!

    Hi:
You need this driver for that device.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-43235-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...
Did you install the touchpad driver?
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-48345-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...
If that doesn't work, I don't have any other suggestions for you and I concur with your assumption that it is a hardware problem.
Blinking light?  Shut the PC down instead of letting it go into sleep mode.
There are no settings to not have that happen.

  • Mass Storage Controller driver under Vista Ultimate on Satellite A200

Hi I installed Vista Ultimate and the driver for Mass Storage Controller was not found. I tried to solve the problem as discribed here: Link: [http://support.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB57014E000QR01.htm] But I could not find the driver on the Recovery DVD (Vista Home Premium).

    Hi
You will be not able to find this driver on the Toshiba recovery CD because the recovery CD contains only the Image files.
The whole Windows OS, Toshiba drivers and utilities are packed in this image file but this file cannot be unzipped!
So if you need the driver please visit the Toshiba European driver page, choose your notebook series from the download form and download the right driver!
    Best regards

  • [ms-1719/gx700] - windows 7 64bit - mass storage controller driver missing

    Hi,
I have a question about finding/installing the mass storage controller driver, after a clean install of win7 sp1 64bit (home edition).
I bought a new drive (Seagate ST9500420AS), onto which I installed the OS.
I thought the OS itself was supposed to install this driver?.....I looked at Seagate's site and they say the same thing. For good measure I used the "live update 5" MSI utility to see if they could provide it for my mobo....nothing useful came up there, and also looked at their page for my laptop model (GX700) no such drivers available either....neither for XP/Vista, let alone win7 64bit.
After installing the OS I also went out to Intel's site and downloaded/installed the latest chipset drivers for my mobo/chipset as well.....that didnt fix it.
so question is, where can I find this if none of the above worked??.
    here's my detailed specs page:

    thanks,

    guys,
thanks a lot for the quick replies.
    @Stu:
I was actually wondering about those...if those micro reader drivers were what I needed...thanks for confirming and point at the x64 version. I'll put them on pretty soon, see what happens.
    @Henry,
no, I wasnt aware about that at all.....but now that you mentioned it, it makes sense, the difference between my old sata1 and the new sata2. I am pretty inexperienced when it comes to messing w/ hardware, so the question is where would I get a jumper block like that?
also if I leave it as I have for the last 2 months since I had the new HD, what could happen w/out our the jumper block?....data loss/corruption, anything like that or worse??.....just wondering if it'd be ok for me to leave it as is, or if there are any issues that can come up, for which it'd be worth for me to get the jumper and install it as you mention.
also if not having this jumper does cause any issues, I was wonder if it could cause certain blank-out crashes that I've been having, which seemed so far to be related to vidcard.....but not sure if this difference between sata1 and sata2 could actually be causing these....here is the thread for that if you have any thoughts...

  • Need mass storage controller for Equium A110-147

Hello. I have an Equium A110-147 running windows7 ultimate with 2g of ram and a 500 g hard drive.
In other devices in device manager I am informed that my mass storage controller drivers are not installed. When I try to update the drivers I am told the drivers cannot be found on my computer or on the web.
I would apreciate some help on this if possible please.

    Hey,
If you dont post the vendor and device ID its hard to say what driver you need
Theoretically Mass Storage Controller could be related to internal card reader module. You can download it on official Toshiba website:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com
But I think you must search for Vista drivers because Equium A110 doesnt support Windows 7, only Vista.
And you must search in *Archive* on driver download page because its an older model. ;)

  • Satellite M70: Need mass storage controller & card reader driver

First issue: I want the driver of (mass storage controller).
Second issue: I have card reader but it doesn't work.

First issue: all you need you can find on Toshiba download page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com
Second issue: I presume the hardware is not installed properly. For that you need to install TI 5 in 1 Card Reader driver.
If you can not configure all this please use delivered recovery DVD and install OS. After doing this everything will work again.

  • Equium A100-027 - Missing driver for mass storage controller

    Hello,
after installing Windows 7 32bit, Multimedia Card Reader not working. All updates and drivers are installed, except mass storage controller driver, I can't find this driver anywhere.
    Please help
    Thanks

Try to install driver designed for A200 or A210. Maybe this will help. If not, who cares about card reader. Point is you can use Win7 and everything else works perfectly.
Disable this device in device manager and be happy.

  • Satellite A200-1CR - Driver for Mass Storage Controller

On my Satellite A200-1CR / Windows 7 Pro I see yellow "Mass storage controller" in device list. What driver I should install?
Also my cardreader is not work now.

    Hi mate
In your case I recommend checking the Device ID and Vendor ID which helps you to get more details about the device and needed driver.
Here you can find a nice HowTo:
[How to identify an unknown device?|http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=78]
If the Mass Storage Controller is the Card Reader device, then you would need the Flash Media Driver but I found only the driver for Vista, however, I recommend checking this driver even if its has been released for Vista and not for Win 7

What notebook model A100-xxx do you have exactly
You said you used Recovery disk is it right???
I wonder why the unknown device appears in device manager if the recovery disk has been used. ?:|
Recovery disk installs all drivers and usually no unknown devices should be visible in device manager
