Master comments not coming through into Subclips....

Good day to you all,
Still fairly new to FCP but can't for the life of me work out what I'm doing wrong here:
Basically, I'm taking entire tapes into the viewer and marking them - using the extend mark (option <) to mark the length of each clip - while giving them a name. I'm also, in most cases, adding a log note on the marking box, which appears in the 'Master Comment 1' section of the browser for each marker within the tape. After I have gone through an entire tape (I have about 24 hours of material to work through, so I need to sort this out quickly!) I select all the markers in the browser and hit Cmd. U to make them into subclips.
So from this point, I have two questions:
Firstly, is there any way of overriding the annoying way FCP names the subclips? For example, I name a subclip "Concrete Sculpture 1 - pan right", and it comes out as "Concrete Sculpture 1 - pan right from 'A1 Tape 04 Copy' Subclip". So I end up with about a hundred clips that I have to manually just go down and delete this extraneous nonsense which just serves to clutter up the legibility of the clip. I know this information, the image tells me its a subclip and I can see what tape it was from further along in the browser. There must be a way to override this annoying naming thing?
Second, none of the stuff in the 'Master Comment 1' column comes through into the subclips! So I'm left with a load of clips which don't, in many cases, have the most important bit of description for identifying them, and which I have painstakingly entered! What's going on here?!?!?!
Just when I thought I was starting to understand FCP, these two little niggles pop up.

I don't mind subclips, and like many people I am forced by other factors to use them. So I do better if I pretend to actually like 'em.
Jim, I don't understand what's different about logging with subclips and logging off tape. It's not like us subclippers don't log just as much as anyone else. Subclipping is a sub-maneuver of a particular subset of logging systems.
But the naming thing is really ridiculous. We should be able to go through a clip, click one button, and have it chopped into two files right there with a user-definable numerical naming scheme. And so on at the next cut point. Geezer talk: "my old NLE could do that, and that was 10 years ago...". It's true, and that was a DraCo.
Steve, I do it differently based on circumstances. Sometimes I mark and then subclip, but that's when the naming can get really really tedious.
Here's what I'm most comfortable with:
- load the SuperClip in the viewer
- name it something short and relevant
- Control-C copy that base name
- I and O to set in and out for first shot. I set for maximum possible use of either video or audio.
- Command-U makes a subclip and selects the subclip's new name for replacement
- right arrow to move to end of base name
- type whatever you need to differentiate that subclip.
There are many variations, but when I get in the groove this is very fast. And it completely bypasses the Ridiculous Name Syndrome, 'cause you change it as soon as it pops up.
I am one of those people who puts all the search terms or codes in clip names. For long form doc work. This makes a good flow for me, most of the time.
I know there are better ways lurking out there, so I'm watching this space.
