Master data attribute not updaing from PSA

Hi all,
I am on 3.5, and the have a custom attribute extension to the 0CUSTOMER object. This attribute is populated in R/3, and populated in the PSA, but not the object itself, or the master data table of the object (/bi0/pcustomer). Has anyone seen this before, or can anyone recommend how to trouble-shoot this?

Hello David,
Please follow as Sudharshan and Dennis suggested, along with that
1. Check which type of attribute (time-dependent/time independent).
2. Then search accordingly in the table p/q table of customer InfoObject.
3. Try to search in m table of custome (/BI0/MCUSTOMER).
Attribute change run for the particular master data is must to see the data in tables.
4. Just check the Infopackage settings whether the load is till PSA or which option is selected(just to make sure whether the data is loaded till master data tables)- My doubt is the data might be till PSA and not yet processed from PSA to InfoObject, and you are searching the data in master data tables ;-).
Please let us know your findings.

Master Data Attributes not showing in InfoCube

Hi Experts,
I'm a little lost here. I have loaded the master data for a field ZPARTY(data coming from 3 non-SAP sources S1, S2 and S3) with all its attributes. I have actovated it and I see it as well in the BEx.
Now I have loaded related Transaction data and and I have ZPARTY in that InfoCube as well. Now I can see the attibutes showing up in InfoCube from S1 and S2 but not from S3.
I have deleted the data and reloaded it as well. I made sure that the SIDS get generated as well and I can see SIDs as well but I do not see the data from S1 for the master data attributes.

You can check the following things,
1) In the infoobject maintainance screen on the attributes tab, just check that attributes coming from S3 are marked as Navigation attributes.
2) Check whether they are time dependent or independent attributes.
3) Once you load all the data check it in master data view of ZPARTY infoobject and make sure that all the data is active.
4) If you are not able to see the data loaded then check the underlying mappings of infoobject from S3 to ZPARTY in transformation or transfer rule.
5) Finally in infocube check that you have marked all the navigation attributes available for reporting.

Master Data Attributes Not available in RSA5

i am doing master data loading for MM Purchasing
i am not able to find Master Data Attributes in RSA5
0INFO_TYPE_ATTR
0MATERIAL_ATTR
0MATL_GROUP_ATTR
0PURCH_ORG_ATTR
please tell me where can i find those missing attribures?

I usually just do like this in the datasource tree -> set the cursor on the highest level (SAP) -> edit menu -> expand -> use the normal search functionality.
But as far as I remember there are no business content datasources for 0INFO_TYPE, 0MATL_GROUP or 0PURCH_ORG because they all are just attributes.
If you just need to load the texts, there are text datasources available for all the objects.

Extraction through master data attribute not working

Hi All,
In my ODS, i have a field Sales Document Item, with attributes ship-to-party, sold-to-party, etc.
Now, ship-to-party and sold-to-party are extracted using the update method master data attribute of Sales Document Item.
For some of the Items, the ship-to-party and sold-to-party are getting extracted properly, but for others, they are returned as blank; even though these records are present in the master data for Sales Document Item.
Kindly provide your inputs for this issue...

All Data is not loaded from PSA

Hi,
I have loaded 0material_attr data to Master data 0material.
I got records to PSA whatever data availble in R/3 after Infopackage execution,
After execution of DTP i ddint get all fields of PSA data to 0material.
In transformation whatever fields i mapped those fields data available in PSA but not in 0master.
And i restricted the fields in Infopackage but in DTP it is not extraction only PSA fileds. its extracting lot of fields, how can i restrict in DTP.
If i want delta records means for next time what i have to do..

a. check your transformation- make sure key field is set correctly.
b. no need to restrict in DTP unless you need a language or something.
c. delta records will come through fine if your dtp has delta on it.

Maintaining Generic DataSources
Use
Regardless of the application, you can create and maintain generic DataSources for transaction data, master data attributes or texts from any transparent table, database view or SAP Query InfoSet, or using a function module. This allows you to extract data generically.
Procedure
Creating Generic DataSources
1. Select the DataSource type and specify a technical name.
2. Choose Create.
The screen for creating a generic DataSource appears.
3. Choose the application component to which you want to assign the DataSource.
4. Enter the descriptive texts. You can choose any text.
5. Select the datasets from which you want to fill the generic DataSource.
a. Choose Extraction from View if you want to extract data from a transparent table or a database view. Enter the name of the table or the database view.
After you generate the DataSource, you have a DataSource with an extraction structure that corresponds to the database view or transparent table.
For more information about creating and maintaining database views and tables, see the ABAP Dictionary Documentation.
b. Choose Extraction from Query if you want to use a SAP Query InfoSet as the data source. Select the required InfoSet from the InfoSet catalog.
Notes on Extraction Using SAP Query
After you generate the DataSource, you have a DataSource with an extraction structure that corresponds to the InfoSet.
For more information about maintaining the InfoSet, see the System Administration documentation.
c. Choose Extraction Using FM if you want to extract data using a function module. Enter the function module and extraction structure.
The data must be transferred by the function module in an interface table E_T_DATA.
Interface Description and Extraction Process
For information about the function library, see the ABAP Workbench: Tools documentation.
d. With texts you also have the option of extracting from fixed values for domains.
6. Maintain the settings for delta transfer, as required.
7. Choose Save.
When performing extraction, note SAP Query: Assigning to a User Group.
Note when extracting from a transparent table or view:
If the extraction structure contains a key figure field that references a unit of measure or a currency unit field, this unit field has to be included in the same extraction structure as the key figure field.
A screen appears on which you can edit the fields of the extraction structure.
8. Edit the DataSource:
○ Selection
When you schedule a data request in the BI scheduler, you can enter the selection criteria for the data transfer. For example, you can determine that data requests are only to apply to data from the previous month.
If you set the Selection indicator for a field within the extraction structure, the data for this field is transferred in correspondence with the selection criteria in the scheduler.
○ Hide field
You set this indicator to exclude an extraction structure field from the data transfer. The field is no longer available in BI when you set the transfer rules or generate the transfer structure.
○ Inversion
Reverse postings are possible for customer-defined key figures. Therefore inversion is only active for certain transaction data DataSources. These include DataSources that have a field that is marked as an inversion field, for example, the update mode field in DataSource 0FI_AP_3. If this field has a value, the data records are interpreted as reverse records in BI.
If you want to carry out a reverse posting for a customer-defined field (key figure), set the Inversion indicator. The value of the key figure is transferred to BI in inverted form (multiplied by 1).
○ Field only known in exit
You can enhance data by extending the extraction structure for a DataSource by adding fields in append structures.
The Field Only Known in Exit indicator is set for the fields of an append structure; by default these fields are not passed to the extractor from the field list and selection table.
Deselect the Field Only Known in Exit indicator to enable the Service API to pass on the append structure field to the extractor together with the fields of the delivered extract structures in the field list and in the selection table.
9. Choose DataSource ® Generate.
The DataSource is saved in the source system.
Maintaining Generic DataSources
● Change DataSource
To change a generic DataSource, in the initial screen of DataSource maintenance, enter the name of the DataSource and choose Change.
You can change the assignment of a DataSource to an application component or change the texts of a DataSource. Double-click on the name of the table, view, InfoSet or extraction structure to get to the appropriate maintenance screen. Here you make the changes to add new fields. You can also completely swap transparent tables and database views, though this is not possible with InfoSets. Return to DataSource maintenance and choose Create. The screen for editing a DataSource appears. To save the DataSource in the SAP source system, choose DataSource ® Generate.
If you want to test extraction in the source system independently of a BI system, choose DataSource ® Test Extraction.
● Delta DataSource
On the Change Generic DataSource screen, you can delete any DataSources that are no longer relevant. If you are extracting data from an InfoSet, delete the corresponding query. If you want to delete a DataSource, make sure it is not connected to a BI system.

DTP error: Lock NOT set for: Loading master data attributes

Hi,
I have a custom datasource from ECC which loads into 0CUST_SALES. I'm using DTP & transformation which has worked for loading data in the past for this infoobject. The infopackage loads with a green status but when i try to load data, the DTP fails with an error message at "Updating attributes for InfoObject 0CUST_SALES Processing Terminated" & the job log says: "Lock NOT set for: Loading master data attributes". I've tried reactivating everything but it didn't help. Does anyone know what this error means? We're on SP7. Thanks in advance!

I have had this problem in the past (3.0B) --> the reason is that our system was too slow and could not crunch the data fast enough, therefore packets where loacking each other.
The fix: load the data into the PSA only, and then send it in background from the PSA to the info object. By doing this, only a background process will run, therefore locks cannot happen.
Fix#2: by a faster server (by faster, I mean more CPU power)
Now, maybe you have another issue with NW2004s, this was only my 2 cents quick thought

I haven't tried this scenario yet, hope you can help me, the Issue is this
I have 2 InfoObjects ZPSCHRCHY and 0PROFIT_CTR from InfoCube WBS cost and allocations I want both the InfoObjects to be mapped to 0PROFIT_CTR attribute of 0WBS_ELEMT master data object, I have tried the Master Data Attribute but only 0PROFIT_CTR is an attribute of the Master Data.how can I mapped ZPSCHRCHY and 0PROFIT_CTR to 0PROFIT_CTR?, Is creating a start routine for it must be used? Thank you very much

Master Data is NOT Loaded correctly, but PSA has correct data

Hi all,
    We have transported the Master Data Attribute 0CPR_PROJEC (cProjects: Project) from DEV to QA system. There is no problem with data in DEV, but we are having the problems in QA.
    In QA, the data is BLANK for couple of Attributes (RSA1 --> Right Click --> Maintain Master Data), but these Attributes are having the data in PSA level.
    We have verified the Transfer Rules & Update Rules and these are same in DEV and QA.
   What could be the problem, PLEASE?

Do not Extract from PSA but Access Data Source (for Small Amounts of Data)

Hi Experts,
In the DTP, the above option is available for Full Loads for certain extractors but not for others, particularly, certain HR extractors?
Is there a way to make it available for HR extractors? Is there a setting that needs to be updated in ECC or in BI?

There is no special setting for this, Please see the detail description:
Data is not extracted from the PSA for the DataSource; it is requested from the data source directly at DTP runtime.
Use
You use this mode for small data sets and full uploads, for example, small sets of master data. With file source systems, note that the file has to be available on the application server.
Dependencies
You do not have to create an InfoPackage in order to extract data from the source.
Data in the data source is accessed in "direct access mode". This has certain consequences, especially if you are extracting data from SAPI systems:
Data is extracted synchronously. This places a particular demand on the main memory, especially in remote systems.
The SAPI extractors may respond differently than during asynchronous load since they receive information by direct access.
SAPI customer enhancements are not processed. Fields that have been added using the append technology of the DataSource remain empty. The exits RSAP0001, exit_saplrsap_001, exit_saplrsap_002, exit_saplrsap_004 do not run.
If errors occur during processing in BI, you have to extract the data again since the PSA is not available as a buffer. This means that deltas are not possible.
In the DTP, the filter only contains fields that the DataSource allows as selection fields. With an intermediary PSA, you can filter in the DTP by any field.

Read from master data attribute

Hi BI experts,
Here is a challenging question.
One of the FIGL infoprovider do not have infoobject 0company. Added 0company and set up update type 'overwrite'. Update method 'Master data attribute'. So 0company should read from the master data attribute of 0Comp_code.
Master data attribute loaded for 0comp_code. Did transaction data load for FIGL infoprovider.
But 0company is blank in FIGL ODS.
Any thoughts..

It should ideally pull the 0company, Otherwise try doing it thru Start routine ..
Create an internal table, pull company code and company from the master data table of Company code into this table.
Read from this table in your update routine and corresponding to the company code read the company and populate in your ODS.
It will also be better in performance compared to a master data look up !!!!!!!

After installation of R/3 ECC 5, some of the master data attributes datasources are not visible in RSA5.
Do i need to do any other settings to get them.

Thanks for quick response. I have checked those tables. i found that i have same datasources as it is in RSA5.
For example: i have 0SALE_DIST_TEXT in both RSA5 and ROOSOURCE, how i can have the attributes for the same.
also i don't have attributes datasource for Customer Group1...5, Material Group1...5, sales office etc.,

You can copy it and recreate it as text in RSO2.
Just create a new one... There are max 5 entries in a generic extractor so note them down and recreate...

Is it possible to update master data attributes from an ODS?

HELLO ALL,
we have records coming into our ods like the following:
costcenter1, subcostcentera, subcostcenterb, manager responsible, costs (kf).
This is a custom flat file load from a legacy system.
We would like to just create an update rule from the ODS to the cost center mater data characteristic attributes.
Is this possible?

Yes its possible to update the master data attributes from an ODS.
Define your master data characteristics as a infoprovider.
Create a update rule on Characteristic with ODS as a source and do general mapping.

Error while loading to Master data attribute 0product

Hi experts,
While loading the data from 0material to 0product master data attribute i am getting a error ' 0MATERIAL : Data record 2421 (''300000072 '):Version '300000072 ' is not valid. I request u all to help me to solve this error.
Diagnosis
    Data record 2421 & with the key '300000072 &' is invalid in value
    '300000072 &' of the attribute/characteristic 0MATERIAL &.
System Response
    The system has recognized that the value mentioned above is invalid, and
    has processed this general error message. A subsequent message may give
    you more information on the error. This message refers to the same
    value, even though it does not state this explicitly.
Procedure
    If this message appears during a data load, maintain the attribute in
    the PSA maintenance screens. If this message appears in the master data
    maintenance screens, leave the transaction and call it again. This
    allows you to maintain your master data.
Please let me know what could be the problem....

Hi,
   The issue is due to errorneous record.
Delete the request in Master data and Try the following.
1) Goto PSA --> filter the Status (Red or Green)
Select the Red records and correct the data in which error is throwm.
After correcting the data, save and Right click PSA and give Start update immediately.
2) Load via Infopackage only to PSA and later update from PSA and check.
Any one of the above 2 methods will solve the issue.
