Master Data BOM Extractor

Hi Experts,
I need extract the BOM master data (not transacional data) in order to modify the Bill of Material components in BW. How can I extract this?

Not sure if you figured it - there are BOM Explosion function modules in R3 you can either use them to populate a table and pull i.e. if other sources need the data or just create a FM extractor

I have to change frequently procurement type in material master (view "MRP 2")
How can I, afterwards, refresh the BOM linked to that material, so to have new procurement updated for my production order??

so you say even if I change material procurement type, CS12 (base BOM) doesn't see it, but production order does, and prevails. Is that correct?
My problem is that frequently a material that initially is a direct procurement material (so generating purchase request), may become afterwards a stock material (so not generating purchase requests if a stock is present).
With CS12, after changing MRP 2 view, I see that material again with direct procurement (F ZN), not changed into sotck (F).
How can I refresh it?? I have a lot of these types of changes.

Master data extractor vs Transaction data extractor

I am creating a generic (custom) extractor.
What is the difference between creating it as an transaction data extraction? or master data attributes extractor?

Hi,
If you are interested in extracting master data like materail, customer then one should go for master data extraction whereas if you are interested in transactional data Purchasing, finance then go for transaction data extractor.
E.g. some of the master datasources are not available in BI content ( z object in ECC ) then go for master data extractor to get attribute as well as text. note you will not have KF values for master data load.
and some of transactional data been stored in some ztable in ECC also data like purchasing request although stored in std. ecc table but there is no datasource provided by SAP BI, so you have to create transaction extractor.
T. Code to create these extractor in ECC is RSO2.

LSMW procedure for PP master data

You will create the procedures. I have never seen detailed procedures published for all possible LSMW scenarios, probably because, they are always different for each project..
Every Data requirement is different, based upon the business requirements. The LSMW project concept is pretty intuitive, so even without much training, a novice can create data upload functionality. Read the docs previously quoted in this thread, and if you want more detail, try the old online word doc at

Although this doc is for an old version of LSMW, it is particularly useful for a novice, since it contains so much detail. There is some added functionality is later versions of LSMW, but for the objects you have mentioned, this doc should suffice.

Pricing master data std Extractor:
There is no standar extractor available. 2LIS_13_VDKON and 2LIS_13_VAKON gives conditions from Billing and Sales order respectively.
For Pricing Master data you have to create your own generic extractor using tables A5* tables (A501, A502 etc) and KONP.

Yes, You can do that with the help of Compounding.
> Double click on InfoObject/Attr > Compounding Tab
> Check the check box of MASTER DATA LOCALLY FOR SOURCE SYSTEM
With this option you can deal with Master Data which is coming from different Source systems for a Similar object.
Give the InfoObject name/Attr name under the Superior InfoObject column.
This much only I know.
Please explore on this further.

How to find all the Master data extract structures and Extractors

I intend to create Master data dimensions closely similar to SAP BI in a 3rd party system. I would like to use SAP's standard extractors for populating the master data structures in SAP BI and then use a proprietary technology to create similar structures in a 3rd party database.
Question: How to get a complete list of all Master data extract structures and corresponding extractors?
Example: In ECC if I do SE80 and give 'Package' and 'MDX' and then press the 'display' spectacles, I get a list of structures and views under "dictionary objects" covering Material, Customer, Vendor, Plant Texts and attributes.
How do I get the remainder of the Master data extract structures viz. Purchase Info Records, Address, Org Unit etc?

Hi,
try the table ROOSOURCE and search the data source with string in astrick attr for master data and for text with text
This will give you the list of all the master data source in the system and it contains a column which tells about the extract structure and function module used by each.

Master data extractor - Customer Number

Master data extractor for Customer number is in LO as is to be.
But now I need that for finance as well - so is it usually in the Finance Process Chains or LO process chains?
There are no LO chains ready yet....so how does it work usually?

You can take the delta upload of Customer in both process chains . Or you can take new chain which will has the delta load of customer and LO chian & FI chains are as child chains.

Enhancing master data extractor View-based

Hi there,
I want to append fields to a standard master data extractor that uses a standard view. How can the enhancement be performed? Per my understanding, the append structure won't work here. So is extending the view the only valid option? Please can you provide steps how this needs to be done.

Hi Intel,
The first step would be to enhance the underlying tables involved in view. You will have to first add the required field in one of the tables involved in building the view.
In this enhancement you might have to use append structure if it is standard table or in case of 'Z' table the field can be directly added.
Once you add this field in table you will have to make this field available in View for usage and then simply enhance the DS, replicate the DS. You will get the newly added field in BW.

I am trying to do a delta init with initialisation of Setup table (OLI7BW) for 0CUSTOMER_ATTR. And I am not able to see any records in RSA7. Althought RSA3 shows 10 data packets and 1000 records.
What does that mean.
What I want to achieve is all the records a fresh for a few master data datasources since they were refreshed last month. Since then they were not being used.
Kindly help me as soon as possible.

For your information there is no conecpt of intialisation for master data.

As said there will be no setup tbale concepts for masterdata, the changes for masterdata follows the delta pointer concept(i.e whenever changes to standard masterdata table happens the message class trigger the delta pointer for those changed records and post in RSA7).So always u see in RSA7 the changed records for masterdata tables

Is it not possible to load deltas for a generic master data extractor?
I have created a generic extractor on R/3 table MEAN (EAN number assigned to material). I have also performed the init run which worked fine, but no deltas are being loaded.

Symptom
For the setup of summarization levels and summarization data in the Profitability Analysis a 'Safety delta' of half an hour is used. This means, the system only includes records which exist half hour already. You want to reduce this delta in order to get more current data in reporting.

The reason for the duration of these safety deltas are possible differences in the clocks on different application servers. If the delta is selected too short, when updating the summarization levels/data, records may not be taken into account. In particular the Account-based Profitability Analysis depends on the sufficient length of the delta, so that update processes which take longer do not cause inconsistencies. For the Costing-based Profitability Analysis a lock is set. If not active update processes exist, it fails and the update terminates.
Solution
The attached source code correction is not part of the standard system. With this change the safety delta is set from 30 to 5 minutes. You should only implement this, if exclusively the Costing-based Profitability Analysis is active in your system. If you also use Account-based Profitability Analysis we do not recommend the change for the above-mentioned reasons.

How to connect the master data extractors to 2 different characteristics

Hi All,
We have some characteristic attributes like 0PLANT and 0COMP_CODE in our BI 7.0 System already connected to 0PLANT_ATTR and 0COMP_CODE_ATTR extractors from R/3.
Now we have implemented another set of characteristics GPLANT and GCOMP_CODE for a different application. We want to connect 0PLANT_ATTR and 0COMP_CODE_ATTR to these new characteristics GPLANT and GCOMP_CODE. But I cannot connect it if I try to set up a transform for
GCOMP_CODE and specify the data source to be 0COMP_CODE_ATTR it does not seem to take it rather it takes me to a screen to activate 0COMP_CODE_TEXT_ATTR it is strange I do not understand what it is trying to do.
Appreciate your help on this.

While creating gplant take reference as 0plant. If you take reference it will copy technical properties & master data also.

Bom- master data template

Hi, in bom master data template i have seen only one "component" field in one row in excell sheet. generally in our boms we will have more than 10 components for each product as bom items. please advise if each row represents one product in bom, how to include all components for data uploading. thank you.

The excel sheet for Data upload template is generally based on some kind of recording like BDC recoding or LSMW recording.
So typically it will have BOM header material / component material & qty as 3 fields in 1 row.
If you need to enter 10 components for each header material you will have to populate 10 rows.
Ex . BOM A has 3 components C1, C2, C3.
   then Excel sheet can have following 3 rows with qty.
   A, C1, 3
   A, C2, 4
   A, C2, 1

I want to load the data to ODS,
By default SAP has not provided delta for this Object.

Hi dear and welcome on board !
If a std datasource is not available in delta mode, you cannot change it in order to deliver a delta...if you consider your requirement absolutely necessary, you can go for a generic datasource (RSO2) and try to set a generica delta...

Material Master Data Reporting with SAP BW?

Hello,
I have a question regarding the use of a SAP BW System. Do you guys think SAP BW is a appropriate System for modelling and analysing Queries for the Material master data of the R/3 System.

Material Classification System
Iu2019m not sure if Infocubes are the right way to report such kind of requirement. I mean Infocubes always requires key figures and dates but the material master data are mainly characteristics. Can someone give me some advice?

I'd say yes. You can aalo use InfoObejct and DSO (like Tables) as well as InfoSets (Join ability).
Masteer Data and BoM shouldn't be a problem.
Material Classification System is always a bit tricky. Standard Class extractors are not able to extract multiple classifcations. There will be need of some Programming due to the poor standard solution.
I suppose some 10 - 15 days till it's finished an productive.
