Master Data Governance - The Business Case

Hi, I'm trying to help out with getting a business case for improved Master Data Governance over the line ; It's fairly easy to work out the ITs costs of fixing Master Data related tickets ; it's not so easy to determine the overall opportunity cost to the business of poor MD Governance ; should I take a sampling approach ? How would you go about it ? Thanks in advance John.

What's the business case for using adobe forms for handling print forms

Hi
We are just starting our SAP project and are looking at the possibility to use Adobe forms for generating and printing our forms, like purchase orders, invoices etc.
My Question is:
1. Is this possible / adviseable ?
2. if so - what's the business case in using Adobe forms - We have been looking on the SAP Pricing for adobe interactive form, and in our point of view it's grotesque high
3. What other options do we have - do we need to settle with SAP Script / Smartforms ?

As far I know SAP is going to stop support for SAPScript in coming years (I don't know exact dates). It is pretty much advisable to use Adobe Print Forms.

We can use Adobe Print Forms where ever we can able to use SApscripts/PDF print Forms.
3. What other options do we have - do we need to settle with SAP Script / Smartforms ?
It is better to settle with Adobe forms rather than using SAPscript/Smart forms. One of the main reason for this is maintainance is much easier than SAPscript/Smart forms.
But remember that Java Stack need to be installed in order to use Adobe Forms.

It took me some time to figure what you are trying to do but I think I have it now.
The SR is still required.
What is happening is your "Bundle By Name" is replacing all of the fields of the cluster, not just the value coming out of the case structure. So to maintain the cluster stuff you do in earlier iterations you can either...
1) Put the "Index array, Bundle by name, and Replace array" inside the case structure and ONLY bundle the value you are setting in that iteration. (as you will see Tim post shortly)
OR
2) Move the Index array before the Case, unbundle all of the fields and feed teh case structure and run them across the case so that ALL of your output tunnels come from the coresponding input tunnel EXCEPT for the filed you are trying to set.

Error F5507 on MIRO. "The general master data of the G/L account 161000 is not maintained in the chart of accounts 1000"

I was doing a MIRO w.r.t PO. I was getting the following error - "The general master data of the G/L account 161000 is not maintained in the chart of accounts 1000." I later went ahead and created the GL Account in the COA. now the error is recitified. But, I would like to know what happens in the background.
Could someone explain me this? How is the G/L account determined?

At the time of MIRO system posts below Accounting Entry:
GR\IR Clearing Account Dr--> This will be picked from t-code OBYC- key WRX
Vendor Account Cr--this will be picked from vendor master data
If there are any tax or TDS involved then system post to those accounts as well.
I guess 161000 is your recon account? Because if it is GR\IR then you would have got error at the tim e of MIGO ( if you have already done that)

Master data on the fly - How to guide - Error

Dear experts,
I am trying to implement the solution for creating master data on the fly in a data manager package as proposed in the how to guide for BPC 7.5 (http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/f08895ab-f152-2e10-7d8b-950a8e5eba0c). We are on 7.5 NW SP 09 and apparently the included solution is not working properly.
The installation as explained in the how-to-guide was successful and all the files could be transported into the system. Furthermore I created the package as indicated.
When trying to execute the package and adding a new member in the costcenter dimension (P_CC) the package status is successful. Nevertheless no new masterdata was created.
I observed that in UJFS a new file gets created for P_CC.xml with the new dimension-members but the corresponding xlt and xls files are missing. After processing the dimension in BPC Admin the old structure returns along with the xls and xlt files.
It seems as if the delivered BADi (ZUJ_IMP_DM_MDOF) is not working properly. Did anyone try implement the proposed the solution already and what was your experience? Did some of you already experience a similair issue?

Master data on fly is mainly based on retrieving / updating XML file of the respective dimension.
SAP BPC 7.5 with SP greater than 08 will not support.

Master data on the fly in BPC 7.5

Hi All,
We need to use the Master data on the fly functionality. We have already gone through the SDN document to confirgure it but while importing the objects mentioned in the document TR we face below problem.
"However, after checking the components of this TR, it is observed that this TR is for BPC 7.5, SP 06 and our BPC system is on SP08"
Also, it refers to two components ANAXSA, OPMFND which would not be installed as part of BPC installation.
The document does not provide any information on the support pack level or the additional components.
If anyone has already used this functionality in BPC 7.5 NW version, then please do let me know whether there are any issues associated with this BPC version in implementing this functionality.

UJD_ADMIN_RUN_OPTIMIZE can be used only for executing the FULL & LITE OPTIMIZER packages.
Looking at the code of UJD_RUN_OPTIMIZE_PACKAGE it seems this FM can be used to trigger process chain from BW.

Master Data on the fly

Hello team,
i am want to create a tool kind of thing for master data creation on the fly.
I got some doc about this but all are specific to a single dimension.
I wat to create the standard tool which can work for any dimensions.
I used EPM function to take the environment ,model ,dimension name & dimension property in the excel sheet i am unable to find a way to send these data values to the script of my data manager package.
Can anyone help me in sending the data from excel sheet to the script of the data manager package?

In the How-To document "Master Data on the Fly" the custom process chain was used with REPLACEPARAMx_KEY and REPLACEPARAMx_VALUE
It's better to use standard chain and pass just 2 variables:
First variable: DIMNAME
Second variable: Some string with ID,Description,Properties etc... (some syntax has to be defined)
Both variables will be processed by badi to create new master data!

i have a big problem, when i create a BP in ECC, all the data is copied to the CRM but when i try to use this BP to create a quotation, the message "master data for this BP doesn't exist"

Hi Sandeep,
You can use EXIT_/SAPAPO/SAPLDM_LOCATI_001 for populating the master data on the vendor location. Basically all the details while be CIFFED from R/3 to APO. If u need to add your custom fields u can make use of this exit. Check the LOCTYPE field with the value '1011' (Vendor).

I want to load Master Data for the InfoObject 0CRM_PROD.
When I look at the tree beneath the 0CRM_PROD attributes following DataSources are listed:

Now my question is which attributes for 0CRM_PROD do I have to load?
Are any of them mandatory or basic attributes?
And how do the attributes 0CRM_PRODUCT_ATTR and 0PRODUCT_ATTR differ from each other?

What is the significance of having a compound master data in the planning levels?

In "SAP2" model there is PERPRODCUST as a planning level.
This planning level has PERIOD, PRODUCT, CUSTOMER and PRODUCT-CUSTOMER master data as part of the planning level.
Wouldn't PERIOD, PRODUCT, CUSTOMER be sufficient? Why is the compound master data required to be added to this planning level.
Could someone clarify this for me.

I'll attempt:
It depends on if you want to surface the result/value of the compound master data type on the key figures in your planning level. If you do then you'll need to include it in the planning level.
If the question is why would I want a compound master data type, then my attempt at that answer is as follows:
From my understanding, the idea of a compound key figure is that you are able to derive an attribute or attributes that are related to, in this case, two master data types - all without having to 'store' that attribute on the transactional record.
Here is a simplistic example:
Master data on PRODUCT (where PRODID is the key)

i knew sap is acquiring business objects , but BO is having a software package called master data services , whose functions are same as sap mdm which is already available for few customers , then how sap is planning on these two procucts. are these two products going to be mixed or only one will be there in market . any body any idea ?
or . master data services is going to be an addon to sap mdm ?

Akhil, from 3rd link it looks like that this MDS( master data services) is same as MDM just the thing to be noticed is MDS term is used with SOA and MDM is an independent tool to provide MDS.

You may use CopyExpress Add on to do the same . Here you can copy masters from one Database to another with out transactions . This process is very easy also. Some of the customizations also u can do the same way.

Process for manual master data change by business directly in BW?

I just went through the post by Vitaliy where he also metions about certain custom attributes being populated by the users , this should not have any issue only thing is that the activation of the master data should be triggerred automatically so that old data is not entered. I am not sure if this would b required when we are directly editing the table. There will be a version flag against each entry so I guess activation would be required.
1. Only issue with a flat file is that someone has to enter all the required data , atleast the key attributes in the necessary format and then put it up for uploading which might become an overhead , otherwise flat files would work fine. Everytime there is a chage required , the busines user has to initiate the change and then save it and then give the details to BASIS / Uploader to upload the new files.
Or since it is NW2004s , a simple function module may be written and the same could b called as a web service and the data could then be uploaded trough the web if required. Also people are prone to errors and if the flat file contains small characters etc and then the load fails , the overhead would increase. Delta loads would not be affected since going by te problem statement , the fiels to be changed do not come from the source and hence can be updated in BW itself.
2. Since we are looking at data at the table level , editing the attributes should not be an issue , only thing is that the validation of the same will have to be done carefully.
