Master data number in different clients.

Dear Friends,
We are using BI7.00. For one of our PM user requirement, we have made a report which will fetch the data of the measuring document against each measuring point. Since i want to restrict the report only to 4 measuring points, i have created 4 specific measuring points and restricted it in the Bex query.
Now my problem is with the number that is assigned to the measuring point in the R/3 side. In the development client of R/3 the number assigned will be for example 1,2,3,4 and in Quality client of R/3 the number will not be the same it will be for example 10,11,12,13 and the same in Production client of R/3 will be 41,42,43,44 for example.
In the above condition, if i want the query to run in BI production, i will have to change the query with the restriction for 41,42,43,44 and if i want to execute the same report in Quality of BI then i will have to change the query with restriction on 10,11,12,13 and similarly in development.
If the numbers are not changed then data pertaining to some other measuring point will be reported.
This process requires often change to the query -> which i believe is not good designing.
Can experts provide apt solution to adopt my requirement. I do not want to tamper with the query to change the numbers.
Note:- The external numbering option in R/3 side is not available for measuring points, hence system assigns its own number based on defined number ranges.
Experts help required.

M.M

How would you decide your measuring point in the master data?
I asked this question because even if the numbers are chaging very often, is there any way to decide which measuring points (records out of master data) you want to report? If yes, you can add one more attribute as a part of master data and populate its value say X and then restrict only that value in your report.
You can populate this X while loading data and your logic you can defind in the transformation rule.

  • Gaps in vendor master data number range

Hi, we have noticed there are sometimes gaps (missing numbers) in the internally issued vendor master data number range. Does anybody have any idea why this happens and how to avoid this?
    Many Thanks for your answers!
    Lucie

    Hi Lucie,
This happens due to buffering of the number range in question. You can go to SNRO transaction (object KREDITOR) and change the buffering options (deactivate them, actually). Please, consult your ABAP team before doing this. For more info, see note 62077.

  • Vendor Master Data Transfer Between the Clients

    Hello Everyone,
I want to transfer Vendor master data between the clients, can any one help me in this Please?
I don't want to use LSMW, Is there any other method by which i can copy the vendor between the clients or i have to do it manually?
    Please Help ASAP
    Thanks
    M

    Hi,
You have to do necessary setting for ALE and IDOC will get generated and data will get transfer based on the Program Schedule in Bacground.
You can schedule program in bacground as per your requirement of IDOC transfer and data generation from One Client to other. [i.e. end of the day, Hourly, monthly etc.]

    Dear Akil,
I think that LSMW can be of help in this case.
Otherwise, please check with your ABAPer whether any BDC is there for mass uploading of master data.

  • Master Data conflict between different sources

    Hello Experts,
We have conflict in Master data which is getting extracted from different R3 systems.
So we have maintained the transcodifiction by adding Prefix ID of logical system ID for the second R/3 system where we have a confict in the Master data. (Say in my case we have this for 0Material, 0Vendor, 0Customer).
We have done this transcodification at the Transfer rule level by maintaining a routine for both the Attribut information and text information with some codifidition. And its working fine in Production.
Now we have stuck with the Hierarchy  information for this?
As in the case of Attr and Text we have option to write a routine at the transfer rule level but we dont have the same for Hierarchy!!!!
So please guide me as to what needs to be done for the Hierarchy level transcodification. (We are not maintaining this routine at the Object level but we are maintaing this at transfer rule level because of some reasons).
    Help me with the solution!
    Thanks

Are you maintaining hierarchy manually or loading via flat file ???
When you maintain you will have access to your transcoded master data hence you wil be able to maintain.
When you load from flat files you need to maintain it appropriately.
P.S : Didn't you go with compounding concept of sourcesystem or logsys to separate master data ??

  • Differentiating Master Data from two different source systems

    Friends,
i have used standard InfoObjects that provide master data for two InfoCubes which take data from two different source systems. Now the some of the master data is identical in both the source systems (example: 10 stands for "Industrial" in one whereas 10 stands for "Agricultural" in the other). What do i do so that the system(BW) differentiates the two.
Thanks in advance for all the help.
    Mike

I tried to include the 0SOURSYSTEM in the compounding of this InfoObject (for master data) but it gives me a list of other objects that use this InfoObject as a reference characteristic and also says that this InfoObject is used in a ODS and data needs to be emptied in the ODS before activating  this InfoObject.  Please let me know if there is any way out of it.
    Thanks

  • Loading master data from two different infosource.

    Hi Experts,
I would like understand the mechanism behind loading data to masterdata infoobject from two different infosource.
Ex: I have one master data infoobject called A and it has 4 attributes B C D E.
    now I am loading values for A B and C from INFOSOURCE1
D and E is getting loaded from INFOSOURCE2.
could ne one please explanin how this works and how all five values get merged in single record?
    Please help
    Best Regards
    Falgun

    Dear Falgun,
    Component of an InfoSource:
An InfoSource is always a quantity of InfoObjects that logically belong together and are updated in data targets.
    a. <b>InfoSources with flexible update</b>
An InfoSource with flexible update can be updated in any data targets (with the exception of hierarchies). Update rules are created for this InfoSource.
InfoObjects can be used in as many InfoSources and data targets as you like.
    b. <b> InfoSources with direct update</b>
Using an InfoSource with direct update, master data (characteristics with attributes or texts) for an InfoObject can be written directly (without update rules) to the master data table.

  • Master data in PS: Different interpretations

    Hi Experts,
In certain Business blue prints, i have seen that the project objects like PD, WBS, NWA are described as master data. in some case, the standard templates are specified as PS master data. Of course, as per SAP menu, the work center and statistical key figures are the part of master data.
There is little ambiduity. My understanding is that, master data is the one which is a record for predefined information for repeated usage in transaction. Master data like material, vendor, customer etc falls under this category.
The Project objects are defined specific to transaction.
To avoid various interpretations and arrive unique understanding, i invite comments from experts.
    warm regards
    ramSiva

    Hi,
The Project System module uses the work breakdown structure and network as operational data for structuring, planning, and executing projects. Depending on the type of project and how it is configured, master data from other business areas is used in the project.
The Project System module has no organizational units of its own. Depending on the project type and configuration, the organizational units from a wide range of areas are used (sales and distribution, purchasing, production, accounting, controlling, personnel, and so on).
Some of the supporting master data used in PS is listed below,
MM - Material Master, Vendor Master, Purchasing Info Record
SD - Customer Master, Pricing Conditions
PP - Work Center, Bill of Material
FI/CO - Chart of Accounts, Cost Elements, Cost Centers, Activity Types, Activity Prices
PS - Standard WBS Template, Standard Network Template
I would suggest you to refer the help documents instead of Blue prints to gain more understanding on these things.
    With Regards,
    Gokul

  • Regarding master data loading for different source systems

    Hi Friends,
I have an issue regarding master data loading.
we have two source systems one is 4.6c and another is ecc 6.0.
First i am loading the master data from 4.6c to bi7.0.
Now this 4.6c is upgraded to ecc6.0.
*In 4.6c and ecc6.0c master data is changing.
After some time there is no 4.6c, only ecc 6.0 is there.
Now if i load master data from ecc6.0 to bi7.0 what will happen.
    Is it possible ?
    Could you please tell me?
    Regards,
    ramnaresh.

    Hi ramnaresh porana,
Yes, its possible. You can load data from ECC.
Data will not change, may be you may get more fields in datasource at r/3 side, but BW/BI side no change in mappings structures are same. So data also same.
You need to take care of Delta's before and after upgrade.
    Hope it Helps

  • How to maintain master data with 3 different IS components

    Dear Gurus
We have got 5 companies and we are implementing SAP with 3 IS components.
    1) We are implementing IS-EC&O (DIMP).
    2) Implementing IS-DBM (Dealership Business Management system)
    3) We have IS-Real Estate.
The companies will have shared services such as HR, group Procurement and Finance, This functionality will reside on a main ECC 6.0 system.
    Can someone explain:
1- How and where would master records reside?
2- How are the various databases will communicate?
3- Can all the 4 above systems share a single database?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards

    Can someone explain:
1- How and where would master records reside?
On the master ERP 6.0? on an MDM server? there are various possibilities.
2- How are the various databases will communicate?
The databases won´t communicated but the systems on top.
3- Can all the 4 above systems share a single database?
They can share the same database software using MCOD (http://service.sap.com/mcod) - with all pros and cons but you will need to have the same master data in all instances though.

  • Data extraction from different clients

    Hi ,
I am extracting the  from R/3 810 to BI 800 client .  Is it possible to do the extraction from diffenrent clients  ? While extracting the data at infosource level  transfer rules structure is pointing to flatfile source system instead of sap source system by default and i am getting error like Transfer rules are not activated (But tranfer rules Activated/Saved ) .  Please guide me .
    Thanks In Advance
    Uday

    Hi Udaya,
Off cource you can load from as many clients as you want. I think in your case transfer structure is referring to more than one source system. If you drop down the Source system (option in transfer structure) you will find more than one source system. Select the source system that you want and activate the infosource again. It should fine after that.
    Hope this helps.

    plz guide me this issue

Re: transfer data in between servers
Navaneetha Krishnan Jun 25, 2007 2:59 PM (in response to suresh chandrra
Most of the times, masterdata is transferred between servers through ALE. This is considered to be one of the best and efficient ways of transferring data. You can try this too.
BDCs are another way (which can be done through LSMW or through a custom made program.

    Hi Andy,
Please try and reduce the size of datapackage in the infopackage screeen, save the changes to the infopackage and try and execute the load.  As far as I understand the settings for datapackage would be somewhere between 10,000 (or) 20,000 records per data package.  Try and make it 5000 and execute the load.  Even if that doesn't work try and make it 1000 and run the load.  I hope U r executing 0BPARTNER attribute data load.  So, it shouldn't create big problem.  Please try to reduce the package size and try Ur luck.  Hope this will solve Ur problem.

  • How to handle the master data when we are loading the from multiple clients

    Hi,
We are loading HR data from two different clients 101 and 102 of same source system.
Here we are facing the problem with msater data maintenance for employee in BW, whose employee numbers are same.
For example client 101 employee range is 10001 to 10100.
In client 102 also same employee range. Then how to handle the above scenario
Is there any solutions apart from compounding of infoobjets with logical system.
Thanks in advance for your sugessions.
    Thanks.
    Maria.

    Hi ,
you  can create copy of 0EMPLOYEE Object.
Load one client master data to the copied object.
    Example:
    1. Create ZEMPLOYEE copy of 0EMPLOYEE.
    2. create the transformation or rules
    3.  You have to follow same for remaining objects

    HREDDY
