Master data object business content activation

Hello ,
How to activate business content for master data ingoobjects . Like 0p_plant .
I activated PP cube and just want to proceed now for masterdata with out missing it's attribute .
Should I drag infoobject and select dataflow before , Is it correct method ? But in this case , I am getting so many other object which i don't want .
I only want to activate master data object , ( it's datasources , transferrule , update rule and infopackage if possible )

Hi Akshay,
you can very activate the object of your own choice by simple drag and drop.
Howcver, this is usually not recommended as you might miss objects which are very important in the data flow.
Apart from this you can also make selections of the objects from all the object included due to the option " before and after data flow" by checking or unchecking them while installing your content.

I think, you are looking for master data sources(text,attributes,hier).Am i right?
If so, This cube has almost all SD master data characterstics. So you can activate all the all master data datasources of SD in r/3 (SD-IO).
Any way you requirement does not stop only by using this cube . You will activate all other cubes in SD also. So if you want to activate only needed master data datasources when you are activating a cube, the job becomes senseless. There is no problem(wrong) in activating all master data available under that application , even though you want to activate only one cube.

Business Content Activation - run time error

Hi guys,
We were at plugin 2002.1. We installed PI 2002.2 and PI 2003.1 on top of it.
After the plug-in upgrade, we are at support pack 9 for SAP-BW and 13 for BI-Content. For aba and basis, we are at 620 and support pack 32.
As part of the regression testing after the 2003.1 plugin upgrade, we found out that the business content activation abends with the following run time error.
Runtime Errors SAPSQL_ARRAY_INSERT_DUPREC
Exception CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB
Looks like it is trying to insert into table RSOLTPSOURCEFIET and the row already is existing. I thought the activation process is supposed to update something if it is already out there.
If we just select the 'only necessary', the activation goes through ok, but if we select 'before and after in the data flow', we get this abend.
Any clues???

Hi Seow,
This is how I resolved it. I looked at the ST22 closely and one of the messages indicated that the number range is missing in tran SNRO for an infoObject. I created an entry for that infoobject using SNRO and tried activation and it worked.
When we created an OSS for SAP to look into it, they recommended the following two things. I tried these two but it did not work. I am mentioning them below just in case they may help you.
1) Sometimes there is inconsistency in the content cache when trying to activate objects and we have to delete the repository cache. To delete the repository cache, go to RSA1 ---> Business Content -
> Extras ---> Delete Rep Cache
2) Execute SAP_DROP_TMPTABLES program for types 1,2,3 and 6.
If this helps, don't forget to assign points.

Unable to delete master data line items - Master data object CCHIUSRAM

Hello
We have an issue with the Master data Object CCHIUSRAM - CC Hier User Auth Maintenance. It has only master data and no texts no hierarchy. It is not time-dependent. It has /BIC/PCCHIUSRAM, /BIC/SCCHIUSRAM as database table only. This master data is not being used in any infoproviders.
In development client we are able to delete the line items of the Master data along with entering line items. RSRV check gives green for all checks.
In Test / Production client we are not able to delete the line items of the Master data. We are only able to enter master data lines and if we change any item then it creates another entry in the table.
Tried SE14 & RSDMD_DEL_MASTER_DATA - both does not help.
Did ST05 trace, could not find something concrete.
If any one has faced such an issue with any master data item then a response is much appreciated. It has become a bottleneck for us.

Thanks for the response.
I can do this in EBD, but it is working fine in EBD. I cannot do this activity in EBP / EBT as the systems are closed and I cannot activate directly in EBT / EBP.
Besides, I have recently transported active versions of the object in EBT / EBP all again twice to see if it changes anything.
My guess is that, there is something stupid may be I am missing somewhere.

Welcome to SDN.
There are SAP Notes 933024, 804057 and 592239 that provide a means of opening UCWB only for master data objects.
Another possible work around is to make the updates in BW and use the synchronization programs UGMDSYNC and UGMDSY20. However for FS Items and Cons Groups all of the master data elements such as breakdown category and period of first consolidation are not available for entry in BW so for these characteristics the maintenance must still be completed in UCWB.

Restrict Business Content Activation

Does anyone know of a way to restrict business content activation while still allowing developers to maintain objects in BW 7.0? I ran a trace while someone was activating an InfoObject and didn't see anything that I could use to achieve this level of control. If I remove the S_RS_ADMWB Maintenance (ACTVT=23) authorization for INFOOBJECT, then that stops the activation; however, we want our developers to be able to maintain existing InfoObjects. We just don't want most to be able to activate business content.

We have our own SAP development team at my company and don't typically use many consultants. It has always been our philosophy to allow our SAP developers to have comparable access across all our SAP development environments (e.g., ECC development, BW development, etc.) for cross-training purposes. But in reality, only a handful of our developers are very knowledgeable in our BW environment; we call them our "BW Administrators". These BW Administrators have concerns that one of the other developers who has played around in the BW environment but isn't all that knowledgeable might activate business content without realizing the implications of what they're doing. We would like for all of our developers to have RSA1 etc. so they can learn more about BW; however, per request of our BW Administrators, we want to restrict them such that they can't activate business content. But as you said (and per authorization tracing that I've done), there doesn't appear to be a way to restrict them from activating business content without also restricting them in other areas where we don't want them restricted. I guess we'll have to rely on administrative controls (i.e., training).

Read attribute value of a master data object's master data object

Hi Guys,
I have a peculiar condition where I need to read attribute value of a master data object's master data.
Requisition (ZREQUI) is linked to Candidacy (ZCDCY) by object called Recquisition.
Candidacy (ZCDCY) is linked to Candidacy Activity (0CDCY_ACT) by object called Candidacy.
I want to populate attribute called due date in ZREQUI by reading lowest value of due date value of 0CDCY_ACT. There can be multiple hits.
If I can get the code to do this, I would really appreciate it.

In start routine write a select statement to pick all the data from 0cdcy_act.
select 0CDcY_ACT ZCDCY DuE_DATE from /BiC/P0CDCY_ACT
into table itab1
for all entries in source_package
where ZCDCY = source_package-ZCDCY.
as you need the lowest due date, sort the iTAB1
sort itab1 by due_date ZCDCY. (default is acending order)
In the field routine of your due date
Read table itab1tnto wa_itab1 where
ZCDCy = source_fields -ZcDcY.
now duedate = wa_itab1-duedate.

Infoset on two Master Data Objects

Hi,
I have two Master data objects one is time dependent ZABC and another master data object 0Material.
Currently I have a report on ZABC which is time dependent master data object which is built on complex logic to get the data.
There is a time interval variable in the selection list.
Business does not allow me to modify the time dependent master data (ZABC) that means to add new attributes division and Material deletion flag.
The ZABC object does not have Division and Material Flag for Deletion attributes.
The business requirment is to add Division and exclude materials which are marked for deletion as 'Y' to the existing report.
Since Division and Material Flag for Deletion is not there in ZABC, I have gone for Infoset between time dependent master data object and 0Material and did left outer join (which pulls all the records from time dependent master data object) and the join condition is Material.
I built new report in query designer exactly like the current report.
When I run both the reports , the newly developed report is not pulling exactly the same records as the current report.
New report is pulling extra records. I mean the new report should pull only the records which are in the time interval.
This is the issue. Please help in this regard.

Unable to activate a Z Master data object

Hi All,
We have a master data object already with some Attributes loaded. I have added few more info objects as attributes to the same and marked them as Navigational. But I'm unable to activate this Master data object. "Error in activating the info objects". I repaired the info object from RSD1 (RSDG_IOBJ_REORG), and then tried to activate it. But in vain. Tried to activate it back ground. The job IOBJ_ACTIVATE is successful but in the job log it says . "Characteristic Z_ORD_MD: Error when generating master data routines
Error when resetting InfoObject Z_ORD_MD to the active version"
We have recently upgraded our BW system from 3.5 to BI 7.0. Requesting your expertise in solving this issue.

Uploading master data with business objets and LSMW

All,
I am trying to uploas legacy data with LSMW and with Business object BUS52** for security classes. This works with idoc format, I have no prior knowledge how this works, but I figured it out a bit. I am to the point now that my idocs are created and posted (according to the system). Except when I would like to see the security class created with FWZZ, there is no data in it.
Any help what am I doing wrong?

I have successfully used lsmw with bapi before for securities class master data. Business ibject type is BUS1076. If unfamiliar with lsmw (with bapi); I think internet search may bring up couple docs on that.

How to find the size of the master data objects in the BW system?

We would like to understand the size of the master data tables overall for a specific source system (Logical name is Ex.ABCD, which supplies all master data to BW). Can you please advise the procedure to find out this?
Is there any table that will allows to see all the master data objects related to specific sources system so that we can find out that table size? Thanks.

Hi,
You can find out all the master data tales used in the BW system by
Tcode : SE11
Enter as /BIC/P* for master data tables and press F4 which gives list of master data tables currently used in BW system.
Similarly for Texts /BIC/T* and press F4
Similarly for Hierarchies /BIC/H-* press F4
and can know the size of the all tables.

Hi Ashok,
   you cant delete   particular attribute (as keyfigure in ur case..) data for particular master data.. you need to delete entire master data once.. but before that you need to delete transactional data related that master data.. and then load once again with the correct data...
    but you can't delete particular attribute(key figure data)...
   otherwise.. you can load once again the correct data.. because.. if you load same data means master data will just ovverwrite the previous data so, you can try with this option also..
