Master Data Process chains failing due to special charecters?

hi experts,
we have done all the master data(FI,SD,LO,QM,PM,MM,PP,PS) and created process chains and transported into production system.
when we run the process chains we are facing lot of issues regarding special charecters.
for example. 0MAT_VEND_ATTR Data source.
MATERIAL VENDOR (field - IDNLF).

&''SØTRANSPORT &
those are the special charecters are coming when i try to execute through RSKC the above Material Vendors, its giving different special chars for different MATERIAL VENDORS like below.

like that there are about 15 master data chains are failing.
due to that reason the below transcation chars are not executing.
please suggest me is there any routine or is there any procedure to take care of unpredicted special charecters loading successfully into BW.

I don't think its a global setting problem.
Permit the char in RSKC...
Check with the functional team why they are getting Special char values in the loads. ask them to rectify the special char so that you can extract the same to BW side.

System Master Data Process Chain

I am working on Admin cockpit. So far it s going well. However, I am struglling with scheduling System Master Data Process chain. When I look at its logs, I see that Operation Type (WHM)- Texts becomes red and Attribute Change Run (final step) has not finished yet(almost three hours) Please help.

Master Data process Chains

Hi All,
I have activated all the required Master Data Datasources in R/3 in which some are delta enabled like Customer and Material(along with Sales and Comp. Code views), some are not delta enabled like Sales Org, Sales Grp etc...and some are text fields like Customer Grp 1-5, Material Grps 1-5 distribution channnel text etc.
Now, I have to create process chains to regularise the loads for this data once we go live.
But, I am not sure, how many process chains do I need to create?
Should I include all the delta enabled ones in one chain and the others in another chain?
Do we need to load the non-delta(i.e full loads) ones also daily?
How about the Text datasources like Cust Grps1-5?

I have struggled with some of those same questions, and finally ended up deciding simplicity was important.
My Daily Master Data loads go like this -
-- MetaChain - ZMD_D_METACHAIN - contains 3 subchains, one each for attributes, hierarchies, and texts.
Attributes - ZMD_D_ATTRS ( I don't distinguidh between Full and Delta). I have them all in one chain. I originally thought about having different chains, and decided to have them all in one chain - 6 different threads, all in one PC. This makes it easy to move different loads around if some MD takes longer to load - goal is to have all 6 threads run approx the same amount of time. These 10 threads flow into a Change Run. In the Meta Chain, I have the ZMD_D_ATTRS local chain send out a positive or negative completion e-mail.
I have a few subchains in this one, e.g. I load 0Fund, and then have 4 loads that populate Z attributes of the Fund MD. In this case, I use put these loads in a subchain - first the 0Fund load, followed by the various load of Z attributes. This way I'm sure everything loads in the correct order - not having two concurrent loads to the same MD tha tmight cuase a lock issue. It also helps document the relationships.
Hierarchies - ZMD_D_HIERS. Don't have a lot of them, but I found it cleaner to separate the mfrom the Attrs.
Texts - ZMD_D_TEXTS. I have about 10 threads that each load about 12 texts.
Some have argued to load Texts after Transactions, but it our case, none of these load all that long so I didn't pursue that. I also have a sepate PC to my MD problem children - 0HRP0SITION and 0PERSON whihc seem to have errors on a semi regular basis. Having them in a separate PC - not in the Daily MD MetaChain - means my Daily MD MetaChain rarely has an error and makes it easy to monitor. If its red, I know I have a problem (also received a msg from the PC telling me that), where as if I had a load that frequently failed mixed in, I would have to always check to see if the failure was the Problem Child, or a MD object that doesn't normally cause a problem.
Hope this helps. Wish SAP really provide more guidance on PCs. Ought to have a contest on SDN - Most Creative PCs......

Process chain failed due to activation of a DSO

Hi friends,
Three four days back the process chain has been failed due to the activation error.The issue was with data and i have deleted the request in manage screen and reloaded again as repeat of delta with corrections in PSA. Which is afterwards activation is successful. Now process chain is getting failed daily saying that request is not present in the DSO( Request is no longer exists in the DSO ). But manual activation of DSO is successful.
Please help me in this reagrd.

Deleting request from the PSA will not help............what is the update mode of ur ODS..........if it is overwritten............then no probs...load the request again in the target...........if not..........then do one thing...........push the request again in the target.........then...........make the QM status red................then delete the request again............just check whether u face the same issue again or not...........
Generally we face this issue............suppose we load a delta request successfully in the target.........then we delete the request without making the QM status red............and after that next delta also loaded............then while activation...............it will ask for the deleted request...........I think there is some confusion...........and u can try the trick..............it may work............

Master data Process chain running long time

Dear SDN Team,
PC Process Chain: General Master Data - time running is about 4.5 hours . how we can improve running time.
There are 15-25 info objects are loading from this process chain.

Hi,
Go to the function module RSD_IOBJ_GET to find the object name of the dimension. Go to SE37 & proceed as follows.
I_IOBJNM = 'Info Object Name'
I_OBJVERS = 'A'
I_BYPASS_BUFFER = 'X'
and then Execute the FM.
Double click on the "'E_S_VIOBJ'" and find the number in the field 'u201ENUMBRANR‟'
and add BIM to the number taken from NUMBRANR.
Goto SNRO T-Code and enter BIM+the number and edit.
From Edit--> Set up Buffering --> Main memory, select the buffering check box and enter approx 500.
This needs to be done for all the master and your dataload performance would improve.

I have a task to remove the setting in the scheduler of directly assigning to data targets instead of PSA and then to data targets of the whole system!!!
i should not touch though the transactional info packages settings!!
these infopackages must exist in process chains -
how to go about this??

Hi,
If I have understand your point, then you want to change the setting of the infopackages that includes in the Process chain pertaining to the master date.
Then you can change the settings directly in the processing tab.
Or if you don't want to change the settings of the IP s that are in the Process chain,then go to RSA1 >> Select those IP s >> rigt click and copy it.Then you can change the settings there.
You can run each IP manually.Or if you want the same chain just with the changed settings,then copy the chain and put this new IP in place of the old one and schedule the chain.
If your doubts are cleared then kindly assign me some points.

Process chain failing (due to back ground jobs)

Dear Friends
Did anybody help me in this topic.
The DTP's of the particular process chain is failing frequently.
The reason is background jobs causing error
why this happens every time?
Did parallel data loading in the DTP may cause any backgound error?
Is it possible for only one update to the DTP at a time?

Infopackage in process chain failing due to short dump on regular basis.

HI Experts,
There is a daily process chain in which one of the element (infopackage) fails due to short dump on regular basis (At least twice in a week) please find the message below
Runtime Errors         DBIF_RSQL_SQL_ERROR
Exception              CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB
Short text
SQL error in the database when accessing a table.
And in job log it is showing ARFCSTATE = SYSFAIL
We are able to resolve it just manual update and the process goes fine no issues but my question here is what is the exact reason for this and how to resolve it permanently or decrease the frequency of the error.
Please if any one can tell the root cause and the solution to avoid the issue in future on regular basis.
and also can any one elaborate what is ARFCSTATE = SYSFAIL,for trfc check we don't have access to SM58 in ECC side
and trfc is fine in bw side

You can contact your BASIS person he can help you reg table space issue. it says used space is 98% and free space is 1.03%.
ask your basis to set a threshold to check the space and send a mail notification to all daily regarding the space allocation and utilization.
ARFCSTATE = SYSFAIL means the TRFC did not processed properly to the BW system from source.
Monitoring object with information about tRFC and qRFC calls that are waiting to be executed in this system; after they have been executed, they are deleted from table ARFCRSTATE.
Are there any hung TRFCs which are not processed to BW side. have you checked it
first check
load monitor -- menu -- environment -- job overview -- status of job(is it finsihed or not?) - check the job log -- ther try to find out the hung TRFc
press find --tyep "sysfail" ok -- it will display all the hung or fialed TRFCs which are not processed to BW system.
if you find the hung TID with respect to your load.. next goto SM58 trasaction to process the trfcs manually or use the load monitor menu -- environment -- transaction RFC -- source sys -- it will take you to same SM58 screen -- click F8 it will display the hung TRFc in that duration.
select the TRFc and click on F6 to process them manually.
also check the loackwaits anddead locks in ST04/DB6COCKPIT.( ask basis to check) if any dead locks are there they will take care of it.
check for short dumps in st22 if any and try to analyse.
Check the SM21 system logs.

Master data process chain

I was asked to create masterdata process chain for info objects........WBS element, cost element,project and fund.......
So for these do i need to create process chain for each info object or else i have to create one for each infoobject?
Please post some suggestions and steps.

Yes..........u can include all these three in one Process chain........not a problem.............but obviously it depends on ur requirement......
Look.........for WBS element........there is Attribute,Hierarchy,Text.............for us Attribute is Critical.........so it is getting loaded as a part of a Critical chain..........Hierarchy and Text are included in the same chain............but u can included in one chain...........but remeber..always load in series.........not in parallel.........bcoz.........even attibute,text and hierarchy will lock each other........
cost element also hav Attribute,Hierarchy,Text..........for us it is getting loaded as a part of a FC chain......since it belongs to the FC area.........but u can include this in the same chain........
For project we r loading only text..........now for us it is non critical............we r loading it in the same chain of WBS element......
None of them has any Reference Characteristics............so u just include all of them in a single chain in any sequence......

Error while executing master data process chian

hi,
I'm trying to execute Master Data Process Chain in BI 7.0. But i'm getting errors at the DTP process of two info objects. The error message is like "equest 357 is already being processed and Exception CX_RSBK_REQUEST_LOCKED logged."
Can anyone tell the reason and how to resolve this issue?

Check if there is any other loads, fetching the same Request OR you can goto SM37 and goto Job log and check the status of the JOB... if it is finished, then check the status of the request too.You can repeat the locked request, if the previous req is either successfully completed or failed...wait until the dependent request is finished
just check this and repeat the req.. it should get successful now...

Master Data Delta Load failing

Hello,
We have a master data process chain that does a delta load of 0MATERIAL_ATTR, OMATERIAL_TEXT etc....
On 3/26/06 at 8:15 pm was the last time this process chain ran successfully.
On 3/27/06 at 8:15 pm the process chain failed on the first step: 0MATERIAL_ATTR (Delta Update) and thus did not process furthur.
The reason the chain failed was because the message server was down, so no BW requests were successful. i have all my other data loads running correctly now. So this Master Data problem is the last mystery I need to figure out.
When I look at the monitor for the failed 0MATERIAL_ATTR (Delta) I see a message that says "Non-updated Idocs found in Source System"
When I click 'Process manually' in the monitor. it says 'incorrect data packets are now updated again'
The chain was attempted to be ran on 3/28/06 at 2:25 pm and it failed again at the same step. The message in monitor this time was 'Sending packages from OLTP to BW lead to errors'
The chain was again attempted to be run on 3/28/06 at 5:06 pm. Again it failed at the same step. the message this time was 'Update mode R is not supported by the extraction API'.
I tried to manually run the infopackage outside of the chain and I got this message when I clicked 'Start'. "the last delta update was incorrect" Therefore, no new delta update is possible. You can cancel the request or: Attempt to load the data of the last delta update again." I click 'Request again' and I get the message: 'Update mode R is not supported by the extraction API'.
All of these loads transferred 0 records and failed.
Any advice on how I can get my master data on track again?

Hi Nick,
I would suggest that you do a full load to get all the data and then ReInit the process. Since it is master data, the full load and ReInit is possible with no major issues.

Firstly if a process chain fails, identify the process that has failed and on the context menu of the failed process you will get an option called display message where you can find the exact reason for the failure. A process chain can fail in many cases. So first try to find the error occured . For example if a process chain has failed due to invalid records then we have to edit the psa and reload the data from psa to data target (reconstruction). Based on the error message you need to take the necessary actions...

1) Suppose a PC starts twice at the same time............then Start Process will fail due to Lock issue........PC will not proceed.......In this situation Start process will remain yellow for a long time......and if you check the job log.........you can see that job is cancelled.................
2) Suppose when a PC is in progress........someone again schedule the PC..........then it will stop at the point........when the PC was scheduled again..........it will not proceed furthur.........
3) Status of Data provider can fail............Suppose one target is not loaded in the defined time...........then this process will fail...........PC will stop.....
4) Drop Pass through can fail...................Suppose data is loade from Y1 to Y2.............but not loaded in Y3( Propagation memory).............this process will fail.....
5) Attribute change Run can fail................
6) * Run or Skip is fail*................Suppose whatever parameters maintained in table YGTTC_SKIP_PARAM for a IP does'nt match then this process will fail.................
7) Loads can fail due to several reasons.............

Process Chain failed at Delete PSA event level

HI Every one,
I am monitoring process chains, which are running on daily basis.
I have one <b>Delete PSA</b> process chain, this chain contains only two events
1. Start Event 2. Delete from PSA.
Process chain failed at<i> Deleted from PSA</i> event level.
Below is the error message I got from the process chain screen.
"Data inconsistency in /bic/b0000231000 table,partition was not deleted"
"Delete request REQU_4353ACARKJNY70Z5F11 from PSA 8ZMMOM...."
Please help me by giving possible reasons for this error message and solution for this problem.

Using Alert Framework to send email notifications when Process Chain fails

Hi Everyone,
I've configured ALRTCATDEF in Solution Manager, selected the alerting option for Process Chains in - RSPC > Attributes > Alerting, but it looks like whenever any process chain fails, an email notification will be sent to the same recipients.
Is there anyway to have an ALRCATDEF - alert category for different process chains, so that different recipients receive notifications for different Process Chains.

Interesting....I was actually hoping for different recipients for different process chains.
E.g. for our
CRM process chain - Support Team 1
FI process chain - Support Team 2
and so on and so on.
I think the only way may be creating a custom process type and implementing a class for this process type that calls function SALRT_CREATE_API. Then adding this process type to the process chain, with a different variant for each.
However if anyone knows a way to do this in a SAP standard way using the Alert Framework, that would be great.
