Master-detail form not populated

Hello,
i have created a data block on my ELEVI table, and then another data block on ELEVI_CLASA table, table which contains (id_elevi, id_clasa, start_date, end_date). at Master-Detail section i have specified the join condition,
ELEVI_CLASA.ID_ELEVI=ELEVI.ID
in the WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE trigger i have
begin
go_block('elevi');
execute_query;
end;but the block ELEVI is populated, without being populated ELEVI_CLASA too (that 4 fields).. when i run the form it points to the first item from ELEVI_CLASA and tells me that "Field must be entered". Why happens this?
Thanks

Sorry if i'm asking this, but how should i see that last query? when i created the second data block, ELEVI_CLASA, in master-detail section i joined these 2 tables, ELEVI and ELEVI_CLASA

    Custom Master Detail form not working In EBS
    Hi all,
    I have two custom tables -- 1) XXX_DIE_Headers
    2) XXX_DIE_LINES
    I developed a Master Detail form based on above tables. XXX_DIE_Headers is the Master Block (Single record) & XXX_DIE_LINES is the detail block ( Multi line block ).
    Yes, I used Appstand,Template.fmb for developing this form. The Master block has three fields out of which Two are required fields and i have given initial value for them.
    As i deployed it in APPS(EBS),everything about it is working fine (insert,delete,master-detail behaviour) except querying.
    When i press F-11 , It pops up a message "Do you want to save changes you have made" Choice - yes,no,cancel.
    I don't want this message to pop up.
    The scenario is :- I open the form.( without entering ) Press F11 . The message Pops up.
    Please give me suggession on how to work it around so as form directly goes to query mode ,without popping the message.
    regards
    ravi

    It seems that you are changing a database value in your form, do you have any changes in WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE???
    what the form is trying to tell you that you have changed something, do you want to save it?
    I suggest you debug your form and see what's happening step by step.

  • Problems with Master-Detail Form not retrieving Detail Rows

    Portal 3.0.7.6.2 on NT
    I am having problems with a Master-Detail Form not retrieving Detail Rows. Sometimes it retrieves all, sometimes about 50%, the majority of the time it's not retrieving any. If it never retrieved any I would suspect that the 'join' condition was wrong but that isn't the case. I didn't have this problem with a prior MD Form I created. I have tried re-creating the MD Form but I get the same problem.
    Is anyone having similar problems/is this a know bug??
    Any help or thoughts are appreciated.

    I experienced performance problems. The simpiest MD form takes about 10 secs. to requery. I's not answer to your question, but there is more problems with this concept.

  • Old items are not populated after adding items into a master/detail form

    Hi,
    I am relatively new to APEX. I am creating a master/detail form. It works well. When I add new items the older items are no more populated. Why ?
    For example I have an itme which is a select list as a Named LOV. At creation of the row I want the user to choose from this select list. It works well.
    But when modifying the record, I don't want the user to change this name. For that purpose, I create an item which is a display only item. This item is conditional and appear only when the record has been created.
    And this is where the problem comes. It seems to work but, if I logout of the application and login, then values are no more populated to the items and I get an error when trying to update the form.
    I hope I make it clear. I have been trying a lot of times and found that if I add items, then everything goes wrong.
    Thank you for your kind help.
    Christian

    Hi Christian,
    You don't say what the error is that you are getting - this may help us with your problem!
    On the form, do you now have TWO fields - one being the original select list and the other being a read-only version of it? Is it likely that BOTH fields could appear on the page at the same time AND that both are connected to the field on the table?
    You can set the select list to be read-only conditionally - in this case you could make it read-only on the condition of the primary key field not being null.

    Hi,
    I have a master/detail form.I published it as a portlet .
    When I run it as a portlet or in a page..I am NOT seeing PREVIOUS and NEXT button
    I see the two buttons in edit mode for both Master & Detail Block.
    Even I changed the number of detail rows to display from 5 to 10..still don't
    see the buttons.
    Any help is greatly appreciated
    Thanks

    Hi Shiladitya ,
    What you said is correct.I am displaying just 5 Detail Rows.I entered 5 rows...after
    that I changed the to changed to display only 2 rows.Now I see Previous and Next button after I queried.
    If the user wants to enter more 5 lines for the same Master record...you know how do I that ?
    Is there anyway to get more lines. ?

  • Master-Detail Forms (Populating a Foreign Key Automatically)

    Master-Detail Form
    When inserting a MD Form, the Master ID (e.g. Deptno,the Primary Key) is generated.
    How is it possible for this also to be generated in the Detail Form (as the Foreign Key)? The requirement is for the foreign key to be populated automatically.
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

    This item is discussed earlier in this group.
    It's solved in version 3.0.8

  • How to determine the ROWNUM in a Master Detail Form

    Hello,
    I am working in a Master Detail Form with Orders and Order Items Information; and I created a process that allows the users to select a Product ID on a tabular form, and the next column is populated automatically with the Product Description.
    To achieve that, I followed some instructions by Denes Kubicek (http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:241), but my case is slightly different:
    <ul>I am using a wizard-created tabular form, instead of a manual tabular form; and </ul>
    <ul>Instead of using another page as a Popup to pass the parameter of the ROWNUM, I am using a plug-in called “Tabular Form Super LOV” which is a modified version of the SkillBuilders’ Super LOV that works on Tabular Forms. </ul>
    The Product ID is returned in the correct row by the plug-in; but in the case of the Product Description, it is always returned into the first row; and my problem is that I don't know how to determine the row where the user clicked to call the plug-in.
    I set up an example in apex.oracle.com in case someone would like to look at it:
    Workspace: ediazjorge
    Username: test
    Password: test
    App Name: Sample App
    App Number: 1550
    BTW, I am using Apex 4.1.1.00.23 and Oracle DB 10.3.2.
    Thanks in advance,
    Erick

    Hello VC,
    Thank you for your time and help.
    Unfortunately, it is still not working properly:
    1. When the Popup LOV opens, the first row of the tabular form is 0, the second row is 1, and so on. How can I assign the values starting with 1 and in the format *0001* ? (I am still a novice on Apex and new to JavaScript :-), sorry about that).
    --2. Also, when I close the Popup LOV, the value of P1_ROWNUM is ‘undefined’ again so I'm not sure if the Product Name column will be populated.--
    3. And finally, you are using the jQuery Selector uPopupLOVIcon, which is an attribute of the Cloudy Theme. In my real application (Apex 4.1.1.00.26), my element looks like: *<img src="/i/lov_16x16.gif" width="16" height="16" alt="Popup Lov" alt="List" style="vertical-align:middle;" align="middle" />*. What do you recommend me to use as a jQuery Selector?
    Again, I really appreciate your help and time. I think you solved the most difficult part.
    Thank you so much,
    Erick
    Update: I just found out that the problem with my comment 2 is because I didn’t delete the previous dynamic action that set the value to P1_ROWNUM.

  • Master-Detail Form - implementing some thing like Post-Query trigger

    Hi all,
    I am struggling to implement an eqivalent of a post-query trigger in Oracle Forms. Please bear with me as I am trying to explain in detail what the problem is.
    Here is my situation.
    I have three tables EMP, DEPT and LOCATION. I created a Master/Table pages on EMP and DEPT.
    Basic relationships.
    Each LOCATION has one or more DEPTs; Each DEPT is at one and only one LOCATION.
    Each DEPT has one ore more EMPs; Each EMP is assigned to only and only DEPT.
    Not getting too complicated, here are the table layouts:
    LOCATION:
    ID number(10,0) not null,
    NAME varchar2(20) not null
    DEPT
    ID number(10,0) not null,
    NAME varchar2(20) not null,
    LOC_ID number (10,0) not null foreign key from LOCATION
    EMP
    ID number(10,0) not null,
    NAME varchar2(20) not null,
    DEPT_ID number (10,0) not null foreign key from DEPT
    Assume I have all the constraints, BIU triggers, sequences defined properly.
    I am using the APEX page wizard to create a Master/Detail Form on DEPT and EMP. The first page is the Master Report on DEPT. I want to display the Location Name on this page also. Because the Master Report allows
    you to change the query, I was able to add the Location Name as part of the
    query. This was very simple.
    Select a.name "Department_Name",
    b.name "Location"
    from dept a, location b
    where a.loc_id = b.id
    Moving on, In the Master Detail Form, I would like to get the Location Name as part of the first Region (Dept Region).
    In this region, I would like to include the Location Name also. So my first region on the Master Detail form includes:
    Dept Id: ________
    Dept Name: _______
    Location Name: __________
    As Region are automatically populated using using a Fetch Row from EMP table (Automated Row Fetch) on an After Header process point, I don't have a way of including the Location as part of query. So I created a Region level Item called Location Name, made it Display only.
    In the old SQL*Forms, or Oracle Forms days, I used to use a Post-Query trigger, or Post-Change trigger to fire on the Loc_Id column to populate the Location Name. Simple fetch like:
    Select name
    into :P80_location_name
    from location
    where loc_id = :P80_loc_id
    However, I am struggling to implement some thing simple like this in APEX. Tried creating a processes, computatations etc, but nothing is working.
    I have seen some previous responses to fetching values from a foreign table
    using a button or AJAX script, but this should be very basic. What am I
    missing here?
    Appreciate any insights.
    Thanks.
    John

    Hi John,
    I'm not too familiar with the post-query triggers in Oracle Forms, but the use of a List of Values (LOV) on your LOCATION table might do the trick for you. If you create a dynamic LOV based on your LOCATIONS table, it can then be referenced by the LOC_ID item on the Master-Detail page, to display the Location Name. You could try doing the following:
    1. Create a new dynamic LOV, LOCATIONS, using a query similar to the following:
    select Name d, ID r
    from LOCATION
    order by 1
    2. Edit the "Create" button on the Master report page, and in the "Optional URL Redirect" section set "Request" to CREATE. Click Apply Changes, to save the setting.
    3. Edit the LOC_ID item on your Master-Detail page, and set the following:
    * in the "Name" region change the "Display As" setting to Select List
    * in the "Label" region change the Label to Location Name.
    * in the "List of Values" region set the "Named LOV" to LOCATIONS
    * in the "Read Only" section, set the condition to Request != Expression 1, and set Expression 1 to CREATE.
    Click Apply Changes to save the settings.
    When you run the pages now, the Location Name field will appear as Read-Only when editing a selected Master row. The item will appear as a Select List when the user clicks "Create" on the Master page, to create a new Master row.
    I hope this helps.

    Hilary

  • Master-detail form (my detail is in a new canevas-- new window)

    Hello,
    I have a Master-detail form, in my detail when i select a row i want to show an other canevas that becomes a detail for this selected row. i constructed the relationship between my first detail block and my new canevas that contains the detail for the selected row. When I select a row Oracle didn't show me the deatil for this row in the other canevas, i wondered me why? because I thought the relationship between them should atomatically drive the data for the other canevas. If i 'm wong, does someone could tell me what to do to call my canevas detail.
    Master--->details(selected row become master)--->new canevas(contains details)
    the relationship is done between my first detail block and my new details block.
    Charly

    Hi,
    POST-QUERY is definitly the wrong trigger to do what you want to achieve.
    1. The usage of GO_BLOCK in POST-QUERY is not allowed and it will not work.
    2. The detail must be synchronized when navigating in the master-record, not when populating the block
    So the right trigger to do what you want to is the ON-POPULATE-DETAILS-Trigger.
    Problem on this: It will only work if you have a relation on the master-block to the detail block.
    But that's also possible even if you do not have a "direct" relation between the master and the detail block.
    Just create a relation between the blocks based on some dummy-item and then go to the item in the detail-block and set its property "Copy value from" to NULL.
    Now you can add your logic in the ON-POPULATE-DETAILS-Trigger.
    Still one problem left: Where is the window you're going to show placed? If it's on to of the window where the items from the master-block are displayed, then immediately after querying the records in the detail-block the navigation back to the master-block will cause the other window to be shown again (and therefore your detail-window to be hidden again).
    hope this helps

  • Master detail form issue

    Hello,
    I am unsure if this is a bug or how I'm doing things. I'm using version 4.1.
    I am creating a master/detail report (on the same page) using the wizard to create the page. I have no problem creating the page and it works. The only changes I make to the detail region (which is a report) is to set it to display one record at a time, enable partial page refresh and change the layout to a vertical list including null columns. Essentially I want to see one record at a time. I can certainly page through them one at a time. However if I press "Add Row" it creates a new blank record below my existing one. If I keep pressing "Add row" I keep getting more blank rows. Shouldn't this blank row overwrite the currently displayed row so that there is only one row at any given time (whether its blank or a populated line). If I'm saying I only want one shouldn't it only ever display just one record regardless of whether your adding or reviewing existing detail records. It seems to me that if I tell it I only want one row, it shouldn't allow me to keep adding rows indefinitely which end up getting added to rows already on the screen. On a vertical listing with a lot of fields, you could end up scrolling for days.

    Hi -
    My assumptions are:
    1) That you have created Master/Detail form with both Master and Detail regions on the same page.
    2) The problem of NOT seeing the Detail happens when you are inserting (not updating) on Master,
    in other words when you are creating a new user in Master section.
    The Detail section (as created by Apex Master/Detail wizard) is a Report with a Condition set for display:
    "Value of Item in Expression 1 Is Not Null" with Expression 1 populated with PK of Master.
    So, change this condition to None and empty Detail section will appear in Create mode.
    Note that you must now set the Form object that holds the PK for new Master record by some means,
    (maybe a Page Process or such) before the Save is done, otherwise Detail record will not have FK.
    Also you are going to have to play with the Conditions on the ApplyMRU and ApplyMRD Processes created
    by the wizard to make sure they are only firing in Create mode when the Save for the whole page is submitted.
    Lastly you can clear the values on the page with a Process of type "Clear Cache for all Items on Pages" that fires
    last after page submission, again this may need a Condition to prevent clearing items before you are ready...

  • Master Details form (LOV based on Detail Column of Join Condition)

    I have created a master detail form where user_id is joining master and details.
    I have created one dynamic lov based on child user_id in detail block to diplay all user who works under current user.
    Problem : When i want to select Insert detail action in detail block the dynamic lov should read the user_id which is going to be inserted when you press Save button. Means as its not getting populated till one click on save button my lov is not getting refereshed.
    Please advice what should i do.

  • Add multiple rows in detail form in master detail form

    Hi,
    I have a master detail form to enter survey responses. The master form captures the participant information and the detail form will carry the survey responses. After entering the master record, I need the detail rows to be populated with the survey questions stored in another table. The respondent will then update the response for each row in the detail form. Only after all the responses are filled out, clicking the save button should the detail records be committed.
    Is there a good way to achieve this.
    Thanks in advance
    Gopal

    Sorry, did not check OTN until this afternoon. Busy checking existing Apex pages on my project :)
    Our region to populate the tabular form has the tabular form fields defined as Display As Text (saves state). Non-enterable fields are defined as "Display as Text (saves state)". A tabular form results from these definitions.
    Because Apex won't generate code to handle multipe row tabluar form inserts we wrote our own as an After Submit PL/SQL process, something like
    DECLARE
      v_rows_found_n number;
    BEGIN
      --code for debugging
      raise_application_error(-20000,'Hello World: '||
        apex_application.g_f03(12)||':'||
        apex_application.g_f04(12)||':'||
        apex_application.g_f05(12)||':'||
      for i in 1..apex_application.g_f01.count loop
        BEGIN
          --attempt update first
          update whatever
             set field4 = apex_application.g_f05(i)
           where field1 = apex_application.g_f03(i)
             and field2 = apex_application.g_f04(i)
             and field3 = apex_application.g_f02(i);
          v_rows_found_n := SQL%rowcount;
        --if no rows were updated perform an insert
        if (v_rows_found_n = 0) then
           insert into oe_metric_values(
             field1,         --1
             field2,         --2
             field3,         --3
             field4          --4
          values(
            apex_application.g_f02(i), --1: field1
            apex_application.g_f03(i), --3: field2
            apex_application.g_f04(i), --2: field3
            apex_application.g_f05(i)  --4: field4
        end if; --did update operate on any rows?
      --exception
      --  when others then
      --    raise_application_error(-20000,'i'||':'||
      --      apex_application.g_f03(i)||':'||
      --      apex_application.g_f04(i)||':'||
      --      apex_application.g_f05(i)||':'||
        END; --internal loop block
      end loop; --loop through tabular form submit elements
    end; --pl/sql blockI had to get the identities of the f01, f02 etc. identifiers by looking at the HTML code in the rendered form because Apex assigns those values as it will. Anytime the column display changes in any way i have to go through and make sure the identifers have not changed.
    Hope this helps.

  • Unable to View records in a master-detail form

    In a master-detail form, I am not able to view records of the master/detail table
    by accepting the values of the PK of the header table items.
    Please tell me the exact steps, so that I can view the detail table records based on the header table PK items.
    Thanks.

    Yes I wrote the LOV code in a different procedure. Now, the view is showing correctly. But I am now trying to update the viewed records.
    The steps I am following in View Option is as below:
    go_block('header');
    clear_block(no_validate);
    execute_query;
    proc_lov;
    go_block('item');
    execute_query;
    I am unable to commit the changes made in the blocks
    The reason it is showing is : UNABLE TO update.....I saw the display_error.
    The system is trying to update the PK part also..Why....Though PK party is clearly defined in the table as well as property palette. Pl. explain how to go about it. Uregent help is required once again.

    Pars I need another Help
    I am working with a master detail form where in the form region i have a Radio group . Lets say the Radio group is
    o Returnable
    o Non Returnable
    o Other
    so when i select Non returnable I want a particular column called
    Line Status to get Disabled .
    I have done that by a dynamic action - using jquery statement (.Disable) .
    Defining the element attributes as Disable .
    Now the problem is that ,, Line status is getting disabled on the selection of Non returnable radio button. but unless and until i dont press the Add row button it does not work ,, else i will have to switch over between the radio buttons to get this action done !!
