  • Refresh problem by combination of programmatic view and master-detail page

    I am using the latest versions of both ADF (10.1.3.2.0.4066) and JHeadstart (10.1.3.1.26) and I have an application with 1 page in which I have as root page a programmatic view (table-form) which I fill with request parameters.
    Under that programmatic view I have a master (table) with 3 detail pages (table).
    The programmatic view is populated with always 1 row, which goes always correct.
    The problem is occuring when iterating through the first entity based master table which contains lots of rows. Then the problem is that when you navigate through the master table the detail pages are refreshed correctly, but when you navigate back to the first row that row won't get updated.
    The next thing I tried is create a new jheadstart application with only the master-detail pages (entity based), so without the programmatic view, and then the iterating through the master table and the refresh of the child tables is working correct.
    What can be the problem here.

    Have you tested this in the ADF Business Components Browser? That's the tester that you can find by right-clicking your ADF BC Application Module and choosing Test. If you go to the View Object instance for the programmatic view, and using the ViewLinks to its children, do you get the same behavior as in the JHeadstart application?

  • Master & Detail Pages

    Hello all,
    I am asking for help on creating Master - Detail pages. I am using Wamp version 2. Database name "TestingCo" with 3 tables:
    Users:      user_id                int(4)           Primary_Key
                   user_fname          varchar(30)
                   user_lname          varchar(30)
                   user_license_id    int(4)
                   user_pix_id          int(4)
    Licenses: license_id           int(4)             Primary_Key
                   license_no          varchar(10)
    Pictures:  pix_id                 int(4)             Primary_Key
                   pix_url                varchar(50)
    1. I create a recordset called: rsMasterDetail:
         * with all fields from all 3 tables.
         * Where users.user_pix_id = pictures.pix_id AND users.user_license_id = licenses.license_id
         * Order By users.urser_fname
    2. On Master page, I insert Master Detail Page Set:
         * Master page fields: All fields from rsMasterDetail recordset.
         * Link to Detail from: user_id          / later I tried: user_fname
         * Pass unique key:   user_id          / later I tried: one by one from each field of Users table.
         * Show: All records
         * Detail page name:     Detailpage.php
         * Detail page fields:     All from rsMasterDetail recordset.
    3. Result: (I always get the same result as below).
         * Masterpage.php - perfect - All correct display between 3 relational tables
         (*) Detailpage.php - when I click on any link from the Masterpage.php:
              - All the fields from Users table are displayed correctly depending on which link I clicked on Masterpage.php
              (+) The fields from table Licenses are displayed the first row only (1st record of the table.)???????????????
              (+) The fields from tabel Pictures are displayed the first row only???????????????
    A. When I built the rsMasterDetail recordset, I test it and the result is good.
    B. The masterpage.php shows all fields in perfect order.
    There must be something wrong when the information passes from Master page to Detail page!??!!???
    Please help me!
    Thank you

    Hi Lon,
    When I test it, the tables relationship is perfect since all three tables line up correctly on the masterpage.php. If there is problem with tables relationship, I should also have such problem with the masterpage.php.
    I, once tried to build another recordset called: rsTest. This time I had only 2 tables: Users and Licenses. The result was the same; only the first row of the licenses table would show on the detailpage.php; while the masterpage.php the rows on both tables line up correctly.
    I have tried many ways to find solutions unsuccessfully. What I get so far is:
    * The recordset is display correctly every single time when I click the "Test" button, as well as on the masterpage.php (I meant the tables relationship).
    * When the link on the masterpage.php is clicked, the detailpage.php supposes come up and display all rows of 3 tables of the linked record. However, all rows of the 1st table are correctly displayed, and the other table(s) only show its first row regardless which link on the Masterpage.php was clicked.
    I hope you and others gurus can help me out.
    I appreciate your help.

  • Master / details pages set in a .htaccess protected directory

    Hi
    I am using Dreamweaver CS4 functionality to create a Master/Details page set. I have done this many times before without a problem, however, i am now trying to create the master / detail page set in the members area of a web site. The directory that contains both the master and the details page is .htaccess protected which means that the master page works fine but the details do not get passed to the details page. The details page remains blank where the echo statements should be. If i copy  the exact same master and detail pages and then paste them in to an unprotected directory the pages work fine and the details are passed from the master to the details page without a problem.
    I have been unable to find any information on this so any help would be gratefully received.

    I'm not using secure access (https). I started with the most basic configuration, standard http: on port 80, etc. The configuration works perfectly fine when tested on my home PC. The problem seems to be in Safari on the iphone it prompts me for a login, and accepts it.. then it fires up the media/movie player and I'm guessing it's not passing the authentication/credentials/whatever to the movie player. When the media tries to play, it notes it's an access controlled file and just quits out. The movie player doesnt seem to allow asking of login/password info. Thoughts??

  • Master Detail Page

    Hi,
    I'm new at JDeveloper (using it for 3 weeks now), and I need some assistance in a little problem that I have. Let me give a description:
    I need to develop a master-detail page (I've tried several examples that I've found in this forum and blogs, but I can't seem to put it right), with a little difference from the usual. Let me start by describing my problem:
    I need to develop a Master-Detail page with a little information form on the top, and a Master-Detail Table on the bottom. There will be 3 tables related in this page, let's call it Table Emp, Table tabMaster (Master), Table tabDetail (Detail). The following information can be useful:
    Cardinality : Emp 1 - * tabMaster
    tabMaster 1 - * tabDetail
    The information form will be populated by a query that will execute on Emp, with a Emp.Id received by (for example) sessionScope. With this same Emp.id received by sessionScope, e need to develop a Master-Detail Table based on tabMaster and tabDetail. With this same Emp.id, I will query tabMaster to show the items related with Emp. The tabDetail will show the items related with tabMaster selected item.
    I'm sorry for the trouble, but I'm around this problem, for quite some time, and I've tried almost anything I can remember (since, invokeAction, viewlinks, you name it...).
    Thanks in advance
    Tiago Soares

    Hi,
    try the following
    1. drag and drop the form on top
    2. drag and drop the dependent master view as a table
    3. drag and drop the dependent detail table
    4. Add an ID to the buttons that force a currency change on the top form
    5. Select the table components and put in all the IDs as the value for the PartialTrigger property
    This will ensure the tables are getting refreshed when the form changes

  • Search Panel in Master-Detail Page

    Hi experts,
    I've stuck to a wierd problem, where i've implemented a master-detail relationship in a page. This works fine.
    I've also created a search page seperately for this. But now, i'm confused on how to add an item into the searchPanel which would be mapped with a detail attribute.
    For E.g:
    ===============================================================
    SearchPage: (1st Page)
    Item1 __________________
    Item2 __________________
    Item3 __________________
    GO CLEAR
    ResultsTable:
    Item1 || Item2 || Item3
    ==============================================================
    CreatePage: (2nd Page)
    Master Details.... CANCEL APPLY
    Item1 ____________________
    Item2 ____________________
    Item3 ____________________
    Details .....
    Item4 || Item5 || Item6
    CANCEL APPLY
    ===================================================================
    **Now i wanna add "Item4" into the search panel of the SearchPage. I hope its clear to you, in case not, just poke me once.
    Regards
    Ari

    Oh !! Gosh Keerthi,
    I know that, how to add attributes into the searchPanel. U're not getting the pulse of the problem. Lemme explain it once again...
    I've got two VOs .. Lets say !! MasterTableVO and DetailTableVO.
    Now in the "SearchPage", i've referenced only the MasterTableVO from advancedTable and got simpleSearchPanel on advancedTable where i've 3 items ITEM1,ITEM2,ITEM3 (these 3 r MasterTableVO attributes.)
    **As this is a master-detail page .. so for each master table record, there r multiple detail records entered in the 2nd Page.
    Now supposedly, i wanna search only those master detail records in the SearchPage which contains a certain "XYZ" value for the ITEM4(this is in DetailTableVO) in the detail records.
    So, To your inquiry .. No, Item4 doesn't exists in the VO referenced in the advancedTable of the SearchPage.
    Regards
    Ari :)

  • Bc4j:RowScope on a Master Detail page always returns 0 rows for detail

    Hi,
    I have a problem with a Master Detail page that is called from another page. The Master Detail page has two View Objects, Budgets and Budget Versions. These are linked properly in BC4J and when I use these VOs together I can navigate through the Budgets (master) and the Budget Versions (details) are populated correctly.
    However, I want to navigate to this page from another page which lists all possible Budgets. I pass the key of the selected Budget to the Master Detail page and the correct Budget is displayed, BUT the Budget Versions are NOT displayed - I get 0 rows returned.
    The mechanism I use to pass the selected Budget ID to my Master Detail page is:
    <ctrl:property name="key">
    <ctrl:selection name="ViewTable" key="key"/>
    </ctrl:property>
    My BC4J Registry is set up as follows:
    <bc4j:registryDef>
    <bc4j:rootAppModuleDef name="BudgetModule"
    defFullName="BudgetPackage.BudgetPackageModule"
    configName="BudgetPackageModuleLocal"
    releaseMode="stateful">
    <bc4j:viewObjectDef name="ItiBudgetsView1">
    <bc4j:rowDef name="CurrentBudgetRow" usesCurrency="True">
    <bc4j:propertyKey name="key"/>
    </bc4j:rowDef>
    </bc4j:viewObjectDef>
    <bc4j:viewObjectDef name="ItiBudgetVersionsView2" rangeSize="15"/>
    </bc4j:rootAppModuleDef>
    </bc4j:registryDef>
    I then use
    <bc4j:rowScope name="CurrentBudgetRow">
    to get the correct Budget row in my master VO. But this always returns 0 rows in my detail VO. If I comment out the rowScope element, I don't get the desired Budget row, but I do get the correct Budget Version rows displayed. Is the rowScope element on the Budget VO interfering with the Budget Version VO?
    Hope this is not too confusing!!
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Steve,
    I tried to create a comparable set of two pages and initially ran into the same problem. I just realized that my issue (which I hope is yours too) is that the rootAppModule name was different across my two pages. This led to each page having its own application module instance, so the currency was different on each page.
    By changing all of my pages to use the same application module name (in the registryDef, in the appModuleScope tags in the page, and in the findAppModule tags in the handlers), I resolved this problem.
    My event handler to go to the master/detail page from the master page, FYI, looks like this:
      <event name="details" >
       <bc4j:findRootAppModule name="MyApp" >
        <!-- establish the ViewObject scope -->
        <bc4j:findViewObject name="CustomersView1" >
         <!-- find the selected Row -->
         <bc4j:findRowByKey>
          <bc4j:keyBinding>
           <bc4j:selectionKey name="viewTable" key="key" />
          </bc4j:keyBinding>
         </bc4j:findRowByKey>
        </bc4j:findViewObject>
        <bc4j:executeQuery />
        <go name="OrdersByCustomer_View" redirect="true" />
       </bc4j:findRootAppModule>
      </event>Hope this helps.

    Thanks Menk for your idea!
    I located the source of the problem in the pagedef:
    After changing the RefreshCondition of the Detail Iterator from
    <iterator id="DETAILIterator" Binds="DETAILView1"
    DataControl="xyzDataControl" RangeSize="-1"
    RefreshCondition="#{searchMASTER.queryExecuted}"/>
    to
    <iterator id="DETAILIterator" Binds="DETAILView1"
    DataControl="xyzDataControl" RangeSize="-1"
    RefreshCondition="#{adfFacesContext.postback == true}"/>
    and switching off "Generate Page Definiton" everything works as exspected!

  • Master Detail performance problem

    I have a demo master detail application which was built using the Application Express Wizard (APEX v3.2) which is performing badly under a particular situation.
    The master detail is a workers table (46000 rows, pk index on id) and a licence table (48000 rows, fk index on wkr_id)
    The generated application opens with a multi row report from a workers table. Clicking on the edit button on a worker record takes you to a master detail page which is the worker record and one or more licence records.
    If the report page is run and you click the edit button to go to the master detail page, then you click on the next and previous records buttons the performance is fast - around 0.3 seconds.
    However if you use a search term in the report page to find workers by name. The report page renders quite fast but then clicking on the edit button to go to the master detail worker record page is slow - around 5.5 seconds at best. This scales badly too. Clicking next and previous buttons at this point is similarly very slow.
    4 sql statements are appearing in V$SQLAREA when the next button is clicked as follows:
    1. SELECT "ID", LEAD("ID",1) over (order by "ID") next, LAG("ID",1) over (order by "ID") prev
    FROM "PROD"."WORKERS"
    2. SELECT "ID","LIC_ID","SURNAME", "FIRST_NAME","OTHER_NAME",
    FROM "PROD"."WORKERS" WHERE "ID" = :B1 FOR UPDATE;
    3. SELECT "ID","LIC_ID","SURNAME", "FIRST_NAME","OTHER_NAME",
    FROM "PROD"."WORKERS" WHERE "ID" = :B1;
    4. SELECT NULL "CHECK$01", "ID" "ID", "WKR_ID" "WKR_ID", "LIC_NO" "LIC_NO", "ISSUING_STATE" "ISSUING_STATE"
    FROM ( SELECT /*+(WORKER_LICENCES eli_wli_wkr_fk) */
    "ID", "WKR_ID", "LIC_NO", "ISSUING_STATE"
    FROM "PROD"."WORKER_LICENCES"
    WHERE "WKR_ID" = :P2_ID)
    These queries run like lightning when executed directly on the database and are as generated by the APEX wizard.
    The same application generated in Oracle Forms 10 on the same database is super fast (< 0.2 seconds.)
    Can anyone advise where the problem may lie.
    Thanks

    Thanks for that Andy
    This got me to thinking. The number of columns that I have shown is pruned down drastically from the actual 50 columns in the table - which would make indexing out of the question.
    The classic presentation of the home page of the generated application allows a search field which does searching in any column for a search term :P1_REPORT_SEARCH. The region source query has a monster "where clause" to cater for that, something like this:
    where (
    instr(upper("LIC_ID"),upper(nvl(:P1_REPORT_SEARCH,"LIC_ID"))) > 0 or
    instr(upper("SURNAME"),upper(nvl(:P1_REPORT_SEARCH,"SURNAME"))) > 0 or
    instr(upper("FIRST_NAME"),upper(nvl(:P1_REPORT_SEARCH,"FIRST_NAME"))) > 0 ... etc for the whole 50 columns
    Sure enough, when I run that query direct in the database it performs badly - around 4.5 seconds.
    My first cut of a workaround is to restrict the columns that can be searched to those with an index (LIC_ID, SURNAME) and to remove the rest of the generated where clause. Then to edit the P1_REPORT_SEARCH label to say "Search for Lic Id or Surname".
    This brings about an immediate sudden increase in speed of the query.
    The next part is still unresolved. The master detail form "next" "previous" buttons do not perform too well - and the records are not in context of the search that was run on the home page. My workaround is to remove the buttons as I don't have enough knowledge to attack that yet.
    I may be expecting too much of the APEX wizard, but hopefully someone can direct me to a way of resolving this.

  • APEX 4.0.2 Error on Master Detail Pages - 'length' is null or not an object

    Greetings,
    We just upgraded to APEX 4.0.2.00.07 this past weekend. Now a JavaScript error occurs when Master Detail pages are opened in IE 8. The error is - 'length' is null or not an object. I do not have a page item named length on any of these pages.
    The error does not occur in Chrome or Firefox, but the Add button on the detail portion of the page simply doesn't work.
    The page works when creating the master portion of the page. After the master row is created the region to add detail rows appears and the error occurs. So, the error appears to be with that part of the page.
    We use an Inactive Date column to soft delete rows in the detail portion of the page, so the detail regions have a date column, just in case this column is the problem.
    Does anyone have an idea what the problem might be?
    Thanks, Tony

    I too had this same problem and determined that the problem was due to a missing underscore character between the literal "report" and the report Id in the report template.
    I guess some themes include this underscore and some don't.
    I had to debug the apex_4.0.js to determine this - not easy as it's not nicely formatted.
    It only seems to stop Pagination working in an Updatable Tabular Form Report.
    Edit the Report Template. Go to the "Before Rows" region and edit the Before Rows text box. Locate where it defines the report id and insert an underscore between report#REGION_ID#
    Previous
    &lt;div id="report#REGION_ID#"&gt;

  • Possible error when using ADFBC selectOneListbox in a master-detail page

    Hi Everyone,
    I'm trying to setup master - detail page with ADF BC, using Dept / Emp.
    I want to use a listbox for the master object, rather than the form + navigation commands as shown in the classic demos, so I've setup a listbox as following:
    <af:selectOneListbox value="#{bindings.DepartmentsView1.inputValue}"
    label="Available Flows:"
    id="listbox_depts">
    <f:selectItems value="#{bindings.DepartmentsView1.items}"
    id="id_Selcet_Items"/>
    The details element is the classic read-only table created by dragging the Employees view (under the departments) into the page.
    The problem arises when I run the page - the list box shows all the departments, but when I click on different departments the table data does NOT change (as it would when navigating between rows with the classical form navigation buttons).
    I've set up the Table's partial triggers to both of the listbox ids: id_Selcet_Items and listbox_depts but this doesn't help.
    Is this a bug, or am I doing something totally wrong?
    Tal.

    Tal,
    You need to drop the Dept collection onto your page as a navigation list.

  • Master-detail form problem after upgrading to 4.1

    Hello,
    I have running Apex 4.0.2 instance on 11g2 database.
    After upgrading to Apex 4.1 I have a problem with all Master-detail forms.
    I'm able to open the one but detail region shows error 'failed to parse SQL query:
    ORA-00923: FROM keyword not found where expected'.
    All forms work correctly on 4.0.2 version.
    If I migrate that 'SQL Query (updateable report)' region to 'Interactive report',
    the form works fine on 4.1
    What could be a problem?
    Thanks
    Sasa

    Hi Patrick,
    I tried to make test application (the one master-detail page).
    But when I copy the page from my application to test application, copied page in test
    application works fine and because of that I didn't import test application to apex.oracle.com
    Strange thing is that the column in detail table FAK_ID in the page of original application has
    defined default value (P108_ID) but in the copied page in test application that column doesn't have
    defined default value!?
    I don't know if it's expected behavior...
    Anywav, even if I set default value of FAK_ID column in test application, application works as expected.
    I tried upgrade to 4.1 Apex version for three time but unfortunately I always got the same error in the master-detail page.

  • ADF: Master Details Page

    Hello,
    I have just started out trying to develop an application in JDeveloper with ADF and I am coming from a Apex/Forms/PL SQL background. I am trying to develop an online application form for our Grants program.
    The problem I am having is I have a master detail type page where I have a section D (Master) and then I have a breakdown of cost (detail). I have created a creation page for the section D and I have then another creation section on the same page for the breakdown of the costs by dragging the view that is under the section D view.
    The problem is the detail section seems to be bring back the first record from the table. This is not what I expected as I would assume this to be blank record as we have a blank record in the master part.
    Is there anyway around this where on startup the detail section brings up a blank record instead of the first record in the view?
    Cheers in advance in any help on this matter.
    Paul.

    Most likely you dragged the wrong detail structure from the Data Control palette. When you created your Application Module, and added View objects to it, you would have seen a tree structure. Views will be listed separately, but if you have a View Link associating a detail view with its master, you will also see that view in the tree under the master. Something like this:
    MyMasterView
      MyViewLink
        MyDetailView
    MyDetailViewMake sure that this structure has been moved to the right side of your Application Module. There you will see something like:
    MyMasterView1
      MyDetailView2
    MyDetailView1This is what creates the tree structure in the Data Control palette. When you created your master/detail page, you dragged MyMasterView1 for the fields from your master view. But you probably dragged MyDetailView1 for the details. This does not use the View Link to associate your details with the current master record. To do this, you must use MyDetailView2, which you will find by expanding the tree under the master.
    Now, to get a blank record in the detail, you have to execute a Create action from that data control. You can drag a Create button to the page, and the user can press the button to get a blank record. Or you can cause a create action to happen whenever you enter that page.

  • Master /Detail create problem

    hi,everyone:
    Firstly to say sorry for my bad English.
    Now I have a question:
    I'm working in JDeveloper 10.1.3 .The model layer is SessionEJB /Toplink ,and the view layer is JSF. I have a data structure :
    HrUnit : Master
    HrHuman : detail
    HrKnowledge : detail
    the <HrHuman>'s PRIMARYKEY is <ID>,and the <HrKnowledge>'s FOREIGN KEY is <RYID>.
    and I want to make a page to insert a new row on <HrKnowledge>. I drag the <hrKnowledgeCollectionIterator> into the page as <ADF Creation Form>, the page run fine.
    next step, I make <persistEntity> binding to the <submit button> and the parameters(entity) is
    ${bindings.hrKnowledgeCollectionIterator.currentRow.dataProvider}.
    when i run the page , i get a wrong . i get the SQL in the <Unit of work > is
    "INSERT INTO HrUnit ....."
    i create a direct mapping for the detail's foreginkey in toplink,and when i "rebuild" the map ,it gives me a warning. This warning affect my custom code in EJB,it can't work correctly. So i can't use this way in my question.
    Re: Master /Detail  create problem
    I beg your help.
    Thanks. and very very thanks.

    Hi,
    I am not an expert in TopLink, but it appears to me that the TopLink model is causes your problems not ADF. There is a TopLink forum here on OTN that could give you a helping hand on this issue.
    The following tutorial explains the use of TopLink in ADF
