Master-Detail Search

hi all,
I need to know how to add search to a table in the master and the detail.
in one table just add from data control and select the Filtering, how can i add this to a master and detail tables???
i have added the searchRegion in the page definition and filterVisible="true" in the source of the jspx, i did just like the simple one table, in the design its appear but in the running nothing appear ????
any help, its very important issue???

i have two tables at the database
such as department and the employee
at the data control>applicationModule
drag the employee which is a detail of the department, and then choose the master detail its will create two tables and works very good, but i want to add a search in the above for both exactly like when i choose one table (no master detail) and when add the department its show that the columns i want to add and the filtering and the sort ...etc, this will show the table of the department and above every column the field for the criteria
how can i add this the fields above the column for the master and the detail .......

  • How to implement Master-Detail Search in TopLink without using DataControl

    Hi,
    I am using TopLink and EJB in our requirement. But we are not creating any data controls. Without data controls how to implement master detail search using TopLink and EJB. I did search for a single table. It is working fine. The way i implented is as follows.
    1) Taking search parameter from UI and passing it to A delegator class's method.
    2) Delegator class's method calls the EJB's NamedQuery which i already created using expression builder.
    3) EJB executes the NamedQuery with the parameter we are passing. And it returns the results back to UI.
    But as i am new to TopLink, can anyone tell me the procedure to implement Master - Detail search. Here we need to search based on Master table's column.
    Waiting for the replies regarding this.

    Hi,
    I did it successfully. Following is the code.
    Session session = getSessionFactory().acquireSession();
    UnitOfWork uow = session.acquireUnitOfWork();
    ReadAllQuery raq = new ReadAllQuery();
    Dept d = new Dept();
    d.setLoc(loc);
    raq.setExampleObject(d);
    List<Dept> res=(List<Dept>)uow.executeQuery(raq);
    for(int i=0; i<res.size();i++){
    System.out.println("Dept DeptNo ---"+res.get(i).getDeptno());
    System.out.println("Dept DeptName ---"+res.get(i).getDname());
    System.out.println("Dept Location ---"+res.get(i).getLoc());
    List<Emp> eRes=res.get(i).getEmpCollection();
    for(int j=0; j<eRes.size();j++){
    System.out.println(" Emp No ---"+eRes.get(j).getEmpno());
    System.out.println(" Emp Name ---"+eRes.get(j).getEname());
    System.out.println("Emp HireDate ---"+eRes.get(j).getHiredate());
    System.out.println(" Emp Job ---"+eRes.get(j).getJob());
    System.out.println(" Emp Mgr ---"+eRes.get(j).getMgr());
    System.out.println(" Emp Sal ---"+eRes.get(j).getSal());
    But now my question is, i want to search by providing Dept param as well Emp(Which is child table) param also. Is it possible?
    I tried in 2 ways like this.
    1) Emp emp = new Emp();
    emp.setEname(eName);
    dept.addEmp(emp);
    raq.setExampleObject(dept);
    2) Emp e = new Emp();
    e.setEname("ADAMS");
    List<Emp> list = new ArrayList();
    list.add(e);
    d.setEmpCollection(list);
    raq.setExampleObject(d);
    But in both cases i failed to search based on the values i am passing to Emp.
    Is there any other way to achieve my requirement?
    Any help on this is great.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • UIX Master-Detail search criteria

    When dropping a data control, Drag and Drop As Master-Detail, into a UIX page it wires up search inputs for Master data attributes only. Is it possible to include or define search inputs for detail data attributes? If so, please can you show me how to do it and provide an example if possible?

    what do you mean by
    " it wires up search inputs for Master data attributes only"?
    No search form inputs are created by default when you drag'n'drop a master-detail widget.

  • Master Detail page. - Create Row.

    Hi
    I have created a master details search page using the following BC4J objects
    EmployeeEO - empId,name,deptno
    DepartmentEO - deptno,deptname
    EmpToDeptAO - using deptno
    EmployeeVO - contains all Attributes of EmployeeEO
    DepartmentVO -contaiins all Attribute of DepartmentEO
    EmployeeAM contains both VO
    The search page is working fine.
    In the Search page i have created a create button.When this click this button will be forwarded to create page.
    In the create page under the pagelayout region i have two table regions
    one Employee Details Entry and the second one deparment details entry.
    i have added apply button to the page.
    in Process request of controller i have invoked the two create(insert row) methods (one for employeeVO and another for departmentVO)which resides in AM.
    in process form request when apply button is pressed, i will commit the details.
    Employee details getting committed but department details is not getting committed.Its throwing some exception like the Fonreign Key constraint violated.
    but if i give some department no which is already existing in department table region both is getting committed.
    How to handle this problem.
    how to issue commit separately for master and detail.
    Am i clear with the explanation.

    I guess you will also need a View Link between the the 2 VOs.
    Also the attributes that would be used to join, should be declared as Key Attributes. Here in your case, Dept_Id should be the key Attribute in both the VOs.
    You can refer this link.

  • Search on Master Detail form/report

    Hi,
    I noticed that when I created a new application in Apex 4.01 basing the intial page on a Master Detail form/report, I was able to add a search item to the initial page. When I go to add another page with a different Master detail form/report, I did not have any option for adding a search item to the report page. Seems like an oversight?
    I would appreciate any hints as to how to add same search item to my 2nd Master/Detail form/report.

  • Search Panel in Master-Detail Page

    Hi experts,
    I've stuck to a wierd problem, where i've implemented a master-detail relationship in a page. This works fine.
    I've also created a search page seperately for this. But now, i'm confused on how to add an item into the searchPanel which would be mapped with a detail attribute.
    For E.g:
    ===============================================================
    SearchPage: (1st Page)
    Item1 __________________
    Item2 __________________
    Item3 __________________
    GO CLEAR
    ResultsTable:
    Item1 || Item2 || Item3
    ==============================================================
    CreatePage: (2nd Page)
    Master Details.... CANCEL APPLY
    Item1 ____________________
    Item2 ____________________
    Item3 ____________________
    Details .....
    Item4 || Item5 || Item6
    CANCEL APPLY
    ===================================================================
    **Now i wanna add "Item4" into the search panel of the SearchPage. I hope its clear to you, in case not, just poke me once.
    Regards
    Ari

    Oh !! Gosh Keerthi,
    I know that, how to add attributes into the searchPanel. U're not getting the pulse of the problem. Lemme explain it once again...
    I've got two VOs .. Lets say !! MasterTableVO and DetailTableVO.
    Now in the "SearchPage", i've referenced only the MasterTableVO from advancedTable and got simpleSearchPanel on advancedTable where i've 3 items ITEM1,ITEM2,ITEM3 (these 3 r MasterTableVO attributes.)
    **As this is a master-detail page .. so for each master table record, there r multiple detail records entered in the 2nd Page.
    Now supposedly, i wanna search only those master detail records in the SearchPage which contains a certain "XYZ" value for the ITEM4(this is in DetailTableVO) in the detail records.
    So, To your inquiry .. No, Item4 doesn't exists in the VO referenced in the advancedTable of the SearchPage.
    Regards
    Ari :)

  • Quick search and New buttons on master - detail pages

    Hi
    When I generate master-detail pages, the master has quick search and new button, but detail's doesn't. How can I generate the detail with quick search and new button options?
    Thanks in advance
    Liceth

    Liceth,
    Only one group within a page can have Quick Search functionality.
    A New button is generated for a group when insert is allowed and the layout style includes a form layout page (table-form, select-form, form or tree-form)

  • Search in the Detail of a Master\Detail Table

    Hi everyone.
    I have a master detail table. How can i search in the detail of that table?
    Thanks!

    Assuming your detail is setup using a view link and included as an actively-coordinated view link in the data model, then the detail VO will only display the data for the current master.
    In addition, if that detail has bind variables of its own, you can supply those bind variables values using ExecuteWithParam built-in action. This will further filter that current set of details for the current master.
    For example, imagine DeptView and EmpView.
    You can search the DeptView to find Depts you want, as you navigate between them the EmpView will show only the employees for that current department. Let's say you do this and have Dept = 10 as the current row in the master. The EmpView will show all employees having DEPTNO = 10.
    You can also further filter the detail by using a view criteria or using bind variables. If you're using the latter, then the ExecuteWithParam built-in action gives you a way to supply values to those bind variables and re-executing the query. The query will be a merging of your original query and the additional WHERE clause fragment added by the framework that restricts the rows to only be for the current department.

  • Override existing view Link Bind Condition to search within a Master Detail

    Hi All,
    I have 4 level master detail with View Links setup with all of them
    First Level -> Area
    Second Level -> Row
    Third Level -> Locator
    Fourth Level -> item
    All these are rendered graphically with the help of multiple af:iterators.
    Now my requirement is to search for items inside this. So ideally it should only the items that match the search criteria entered in af:quickQuery
    In the queryListener of the quickQuery i have added a viewCriteria dynamically based on the search result.
    But the problem is it doesnt return any row because the bindVariable automatically created because of viewLink gets added to the VO query and it doesnt return any rows.
    Any pointers to overcome this. Please Advise.
    Thanks,
    Ajith

    Hi,
    overriding executeQueryForCollection allows you to access bind variable values for view accessors.

  • Master-detail report, hide detail on new search

    Hi, I'm newbie, so I need help. I have Master-detail report on same page. Master is interactive report, detail is SQL report which use hidden item as condition.
    For display detail data I use edit link. But I have problem when I make new search on master, detail still shows the old data.
    Can somebody tell me, how can I hide details , when I make new search on master? Or set hidden item to null, when I make new search?
    Example you can see in http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=51834:4 . Login : demo/demo
    Thanks
    Igor
    PS: Sorry on my broken English

    Hi,
    This can be achieved by doing something like the following:
    Have a single SQL statement that joins the two tables together. eg,
    select p.project_title,
    d.project_detail1,
    d.project_detail2,
    etc
    from projects p
    inner join details d on d.project_id = p.project_id
    This will provide a flat table with the project title in the first column for all records.
    Then, in the Report Attributes, you need to switch on Column Breaks:
    In the Break Formatting section, set Breaks to "First Column"
    In the When displaying a break column use this format, enter #project_title#
    In the Identify how you would like your breaks to be displayed, select "Repeat headings on break"
    Finally, clear the "Show" tick for the project_title column
    There's probably something you could do to improve formatting etc, but this should give you a start.

    Andy

  • Using bind variables in the model view for master detail

    Hi all,
    I have a master-detail views setup on the following two queries.
    In the first query below - I use two bind variables to collect the start and end date.
    you have to add (and :startDate = :startDate and :endDate = :endDate) or you will get errors - bind not defined in sql
    I then use the viewQueryCriteria to collect the data on a search panel - so far so good. (Make the bind variables required) along with the other criteria.
    The bind variables are displayed in the search panel and the data is entered correctly.
    The query executes and all is happy.
    VIEWOBJECT1
    SELECT DepositAccounts.COA_ID,
    ... ChartOfAccounts.ACCOUNT_CODE || ' ' || ChartOfAccounts.ACCOUNT_TITLE as description
    FROM DEPOSIT_ACCOUNTS DepositAccounts, DEPOSIT_ACCOUNT_DETAILS DepositAccountDetails, CHART_OF_ACCOUNTS ChartOfAccounts
    WHERE DepositAccounts.ID = DepositAccountDetails.DEP_ACC_ID
    and ChartOfAccounts.id = DepositAccountDetails.COA_ID
    and :startDate = :startDate and :endDate = :endDate
    Now I add the summation of a value (AMOUNT) to the view object (java - create view impl) to the VOViewRowImpl
    and everything works - the value is shown in the transient attribute formatted and looking nice.
    VIEWOBJECT2
    SELECT PostingBatchAccounts.AMOUNT,
    FROM POSTING_BATCH_ACCOUNTS PostingBatchAccounts, POSTING_BATCHES PostingBatches
    where PostingBatchAccounts.PB_ID = PostingBatches.ID
    and PostingBatches.SOURCE_DATE between :startDate and :endDate
    Now I need to add the start date and end date to the child query - before the view executes (or the summation is calculated).
    The attributes are in the where clause (PostingBatches.SOURCE_DATE between :startDate and :endDate) in VIEWOBJECT2 which is the child.
    I need the child records and the summation to work with the date restrictions.
    I would assume you could get access to the child view in the VOViewImpl file and set the bind variables there.
    Everything I find is based on the JSF - not the model layer - this should be fairly easy (and common). can anyone give me a hand on this?

  • Filter on Master Detail tables

    Hi,
    I've just created a simple Master Detail view (both tables) on my jsf page.
    I would like to add a filter above all the master table columns but I can't.
    I have set all the properties linked to Filtering I've seen to "true" (for the table and the columns) but I don't see the header with the filter field.
    I'm just wondering what value I should set in the FilterModel property. When I create a simple table, it's linked to a queryDescriptor, but this doesn't exist for my master table.
    Could anyone help ?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    here's what happens when you create a filterable table using the table dialog. If you want to apply this manually, then the same steps need to be performed
    - A search binding is added to the executables section in the ADF page definition file of the containing page. The binding is configured by the <searchRegion> metadata element.
    - The queryListener attribute is set to reference the processQuery method that is exposed by the <searchRegion> implementation class
    - The filterModel attribute is set to point to the query descriptor exposed on the ADF hierarchical binding that exists for the table.
    - The filterVisible attribute is set to true to display the filter input components above the table header, as shown in figure 09-4. The filterVisible attribute value can be set using Expression Language, allowing the application developer to dynamically control when a user is allowed to filter the table and when he or she isn’t.
    - The filterable attribute is set to true on the contained columns. To exclude a column from query-by-example, set this property to false.
    I suggest you drop a second instance of the master table to get the bindings created. Copy the settings of the table to the first one. Change the references to the second table binding to point to the first and then delete the second master table. Sounds easier to me
    Frank
