Master page INDEX and TOC

In master page, I have used HTML HELP CONTROL and inserted index and toc. I am facing two problems basically,
1. IN INDEX, I want to remove the default heading i.e., "Type in the keyword to find:" and change the display button with a custom image..
2. In TOC I have add custom plus and minus icon, but when compiled to CHM, inbuilt plus and minus icon is also seen (even though i have not selected plus/minus square option while complining)
Can some one let me know what needs to done... END PRODUCT IS CHM file

Hi adobe-fm and welcome to the RH community.
Unfortunately the opportunity to customise the look and feel of CHM files is limited. For the index, you can not have a custom image or remove the default heading. With the TOC, are you talking about a custom icon strip? Perhaps you can leave us an image of whet you are seeing. Use the following icon to do so:

  • Master Page Header and Footer in Page Viewer Web Part

    Hi.
    I created a View in Pages Library to view specific folders.
    After that i added one Page Viewer web part to one of the aspx page.
    There in the Page Viewer web part properties Link i have provided the url of the view.
    It is displaying the folders but at the same time it is displaying the master page header and footer inside the web part.
    Now i need to display the folders alone inside the Page Viewer web part.
    Please let me know how to exclude the master page header and footer inside the Page Viewer web part?
    Regards,
    Sudheer
    Thanks & Regards, Sudheer

    I think that is the default behavior of the page viewer webpart.
    In the page viewer web part,your just enter the url of the website.So that is treated as webpage and it is displaying as per page.

    If you want to display a folder, type in a network path to that folder under Link and the folder content will be displayed.

  • Possible to have both an index and TOC open by default?

    I'm using RH7 (I have RH 8 but don't use it since it buggers up formatting from previous versions) and I publish wbhelp.
    Is it possible to set BOTH the Index and TOC to display as open when the project is posted. When I generate a primary layout, I can only slect one as default in the second screen (Wbhelp navigation).
    Thanks!

    We feel your pain. How about making the topic that links to the movie the default topic of your help file. That way they'd get to see it every time they open the help. Failing that, try a sledgehammer over their cranium

  • RoboHelp Glossary, Index, and TOC Features

    I looked at some online training that had a really nice glossary feature.  I'm trying to figure out if Robohelp is what I need to accomplish something like this since it claims to have such great glossary, Index, and TOC features.  However,  I can't find a demo developed in Robohelp showing what these features are capable of.  Does anyone know of any demonstrations that I could view to see if this is what I'm looking for before I purchase?

    No, I actually don't have anything yet.  I considered downloading the trial version, but I didn't want to spend the time to learn the software if it didn't have what I needed.
    I see from your site that it is what I'm looking, and thank you so much for sending me that link.  Now I know, buying RoboHelp and learning it won't be a waste of time and money.

    Subject: RoboHelp Glossary, Index, and TOC Features
    Hi, Melbert2000
    It's not clear whether you already use RoboHelp or have installed the trial version as part of your evaluation. Assuming you have, each release of RoboHelp comes with sample projects to help explore features. For example, Adobe RoboHelp 8 comes with a project called Web Graphics.
    One quick way to see the TOC/Index/Glossary in action would be on my site, called Clownfish School.
    http://www.showmethedemo.com/clownfish_school/
    You will notice the Glossary is visible in two ways. First, as a Glossary button which shows in the Navigation pane. Second is in the form or expanding hotspots within topic text. You can see some examples if you go to the topic "News from Thailand and Greece" Click on the maroon color words "Anemonefish" and "Clownfish" and you will see how the Glossary hotspots show or hide as you click on them.
    As part of your purchase evaluation, I would recommend you download the Adobe RoboHelp Reviewer's Guide here to get a better idea of the various features:
    https://acrobat.com/#d=5bE00menRN24n8TzSel0Iw
    And the Web Graphics Sample project can be downloaded here:

  • Changing pie chart to 3D pie causes it to lose the master page scheme and become rock patterns instead.

    When I change my Keynote pie chart to a 3D pie chart it loses the master page color scheme, becoming rock patterns instead. I haven't been able to get it to return to the original color scheme.

    Thanks for the response.
    On the first issue, unfortunately formatting the legend using that technique results in no change to the legend. The only way I was able to get it to resize was by resizing the entire chart area.
    On the second point, I must be missing something. Do you mean that there is no way to format a chart such that all slices have the desired formatting at runtime unless the report is always run with the same parameters? I might as well just draw a static picture :/

  • Is there a way to do multiple indexes and ToCs?

    I have InDesign, CS2.  I am wondering, is it possible to do multiple indexes? For example, an index of names, a separate index for places. Similarly, is it possible to make multiple Tables of Contents? What I really want is a Table of Contents, a list of illustrations, a list of charts, and a list of maps.  What is the best way to go about this?  I realize I can make a table of contents, copy the text and use it, then change the toc settings to make a new one. So my main concern is the indexes, but I am curious if there is a better way for the tocs.
    Thanks

    The way you can do multiple indexes is by using the Symbol area of the
    index topics and creating a separate index under different symbols.
    You can set the alphabetic order manually. When you build the index,
    you'll end up with separate sequences for each symbol and you then
    just lay out each section where you need it.
    Not intuitive, but it works...

  • InDesign cs6 spell check and master pages

    I have created a set of master pages for a template in InDesign cs6. When I create a document from this template and apply "spelling", the spell check goes through every master page before moving to the document. How can I stop spell check from going to master pages unless, of course, the master page is highlighted? I have tried locking all master page objects and have also tried selecting the option of not allowing selection of master page locked objects. I have allowed, and disallowed, the override on master page items Nothing seems to work. I would like "spelling" to apply only the pages in the document, or only the selected page in the document.

    If you go to Edit>Spelling>Check Spelling
    You get a dialog box - the only options are for All Documents, Current Document, Story, To End of Story, or Selection
    These are the options for checking spelling, ignore masters is not an option, unfortunately.
    But you can select a range of text and use the Selection option to check the spelling.
    Hope that helps.

  • Transferring Custom Master-Page, Custom Page Layouts and Pages created to a new SharePoint Site.

    Hi All,
    I have a SharePoint 2013 Publishing Site for testing named 'Test'. In the Test I have created a Custom Master-Page and several Custom Page Layouts. Also using them I have created  several pages. Now they all are connected to the navigation. Now I want
    to transfer all the pages, custom master-page and custom page layouts to a new site (a publishing site) that will be used as production. Will I able to do this or not. Please advice me with best practices.
    Thanks and regards,
    Chiranthaka

    Hi Chiranthaka,
    thanks for posting your query, The master page can't be copied in designer and pasted into the new site collection. A better approach would be to bundle it into a feature and deploy it to the farm where it can't be activated and used.
    If you want to copy your master page to another site collection you can download your master page from the master page gallery and upload it to the the master page gallery of the second site collection. From the root site Site Actions > Site Settings
    > (Galleries)Master pages and page layouts
    If you want to deploy the same master page to multiple site collections using a feature, create a module in Visual Studio, add your custom master page to the module, and create an element manifest something like this:
    <Elements xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/">
    <Module Name="Master Pages" List="116" Url="_catalogs/masterpage" RootWebOnly="TRUE">
    <File Path="Master Pages\MyCustom.master" Url="MyCustom.master" Type="GhostableInLibrary"></File>
    </Module>
    </Elements>
    The basic idea is to have your site-scoped feature include a module that copies your custom master page from the file system to the masterpage gallery. Since the feature folder is shared, the same master page gets copied to the site collection master page
    gallery whenever you activate the feature.
    I hope this is helpful to you, mark it as Helpful.
    If this works, Please mark it as Answered.

  • Text wrap on Master Page items

    RE:  InDesign CS2 on Windows Vista
    Hello,
    I inserted a graphic on both of my master pages and applied a text wrap to them.  However, on my document pages, my text does not wrap around the graphics.  (In the Text Frame Options dialog box, the "Ignore Text Wrap" box is not checked.)  I know I can either override my master page items (and insert the graphic again) or control-shift-click on the graphic and force the text to wrap around it.  But that puts another link to the graphic in my document...and I'm trying to minimize the file size.
    Do you have any ideas on how to make the text wrap on the master pages work on the document pages?

    Text wrap on masters is not honored on live pages in CS2. It was added as feature in CS3.

  • Everytime I copy pages from one ID CS3 doc to another, it re-applies the master page objects!!

    Please Help,
    This is a topic I would really like to get to the bottom of.
    We have InDesign CS3 templates for creating our reports.
    These templates contain around 10 different master pages with grey placeholder image boxes and text boxes with dummy text.
    When we copy pages from one ID document to another, all the master page objects that were originally assigned to the pages are re-applied!!
    Resulting in lots of grey dummy boxes and text boxes re-appearing on top of the page items!!
    It's so annoying because we always customise the pages once we've pulled down master pages to work on, so when we copy pages across to other documents we have to apply the blank master to be able to kick out all the master objects easily.  Then we need to add the page numbers and footers back onto the blank master page.
    My question is, is there a way to switch this off, so when I move or copy pages from one document to another, nothing happens relating to master page objects, the pages simply just copy across as they are?
    Please help!  If not I may have to ask an external developer to write a script to fix this, it drives 900 of us crazy!
    thanks in advance for any help.
    Or am I just being ridiculous and not actually realising you can switch this off, doh!
    G

    Just a bit of further clarification on this issue (very few people really understand what's going on with master pages and overridden master page items):
    When you override a master page item, the object is moved to a local page, but a connection is maintained with the original master page item. This a) allows for the override to be removed (and return the object to its original state). This also, b) allows for changes made to the original master page item (other than the changes made to the local item from the point that it was overridden) to effect the local item as well.
    When the connection to the master page item cannot be maintained, the local item gets disconnected totally from the master page, and becomes a regular, run-of-the-mill page item.
    In light of this, there's three ways you can end up with duplicate master items:
    Reapplying a master page (or applying a new one). When you reapply a master, all overridden master page items get detached from the master, and the original mster page item appears again in its original state. Most of the time this produces unwanted duplication of objects. To fix up your page, you have two options: a) Delete the master page item, and b) copying the contents of the original to the new master page item. The disadvantage of "a" is that you end up with an item which is totally detached from the master, and changing the item on the master will have no effect on the local item. The disadavantage of "b" is that it's a lot of work...
    Moving a page to a different document. When you move a page to a different document which has the same master as the one originally applied, the master in the new doc is applied, and the effects are identical to reapplying a master page (i.e. overridden objects are detached). If the applied master (i.e. a master with the same name) does not exist in the new doc, the master is transferred over to the new doc along with the page, and the connections to the master page are preserved (well, re-created actually...). The workarounds in case #1 apply here as well.
    When page sides change in a document, the objects on the facing page appears.
    What happens here is a bit confusing, but here's an approximate explanation:
    When you apply a master to a page or spread in InDesign, what you are actually doing is applying an entire spread to an individual page. You can thing of a master spread as an overlay (or more precisely: underlay) on the page with a window cut out to the exact page dimensions.
    When the page side changes that "window cut-out" shifts to show the master spread items which correspond to the position within the spread of your current page (i.e. recto or verso). All objects which exist outside the window shift out of view (but still exist!).
    When an object is overridden, the position of the object is defined by its location on the local page, NOT its position on the master spread. When the page then changes sides, the object remains where it was on the page (even though the object it's connected to on the master spread moves out of the window of view). A corresponding object on the facing page of the master (if it exists) will then show in addition to the overridden one.
    Now remember: contrary to the first two cases, both objects are based on master ones: one visible one and one invisible one.
    Dealing with this third case requires much more care than the first two.
    The obvious way to deal with this would be similar to the first two, but if you remove the local object and transfer the content to the new maste object, the invisible master object on the non-visible page was actually removed, so when the page sides change again, the object will now be connected to the now-invisible master page item, and the correct master page item will be gone!
    The "correct" way to deal with this would be to transfer the content to the new master page item and remove overrides (not delete!) on the local item (which will make it disappear, because it moves back to the invisible page). Of course, when page sides change again, it becomes necessary to repeat the entire process.
    If the local object gets deleted, then your master spread is missing objects with no visible indicator of the fact. This can lead to confusion when the document might be edited at some later point in time.
    I believe that this complicated and un-intuitive behavior of master pages is part of the reason people tend to avoid using master page items. Documents tend to get messed up in really odd ways... It's a real shame, because extensive use of master page items has a lot of potential for streamlining workflows and saving an awful lot of time. This behavior really puts a damper on really using master pages as templates.
    Getting master page items to work the way they "should" was a big part of what I was trying to accomplish with AutoFlow Pro... When the master page items are defined as such (i.e. given a unique name), AutoFlow Pro solves all three of the above issues by keeping overridden master page items connected to the master page items on the currently applied master (and when a new master is applied as well!).
    (When I have a bit of spare time, I think I'll write this up on my blog with some visuals to make this easier to grasp...)

  • Import multiple Word docs to multiple pages with same master page?

    Hi, I should start by saying I have no scripting experience.  However, I am wondering if there is a simple script available for the following issue:
    I have set up a master page with three linked text boxes. Right now, I use Cmd+D to select a word file, and then Shift+click in the first box to place the text on the page. But I have 125 pages that are exactly the same layout, just different Word files to be imported. I could repeat this process 125 times, but I am wondering if there is a way to tell InDesign to create 125 pages using Master Page X and import one file for each?
    I am using InDesign CS5 v 7.0.4 on Mac OSX Snow Leopard v 10.6.7
    Thank in advance for any help you can offer,
    NW

    I was able to import the word documents as long as there was only one text frame on the master page. However, when I created multiple text frames (the text in the word document needs to flow from frame 1 to frame 2), it always imported into frame 2 and skipped frame 1. In case it is helpful to understand what I mean, I attach two screenshots. The first (sans text) is the master page, and the second is Page 1 after running the script. I added the labels Frame 1 and Frame 2 to Page 1, not the Master, because otherwise the text gets imported into the frame with the words "Frame 2". I suspect I have to label the frames in InDesign and then add something to the script that says insert into the Frame 1, but I'm not sure how to do that.
    It wasn't clear from your narrative in June that the text frames were linked, and that the text needed to flow between frames.
    The script, as implemented, only overrides one text frame, (textFrames[0],  which is the top-most text frame in the stacking order), and then places the text in it. Clearly that's not correct for your scenario.
    You mention 3 frames but only mention flowing between 2 frames.
    Anyhow, it sounds like you want the script to override all 3 text frames, and then to place in the first textframe.
    The first is easy, the question is really what should happen when there are more than 3 text frames -- should it override all text frames, or only some. You could specify which ones with a Script Label, or you could do something more clever. For the moment, let's just override all text frames.
    Then you have to specify which one to place into. You could just select the frame you want and Arrange > Bring To Front. Or we could specify frames[2], which should be the 3rd-from-the-top (after frames[0] and frames[1]). I'll do the latter, but feel free to keep the script the same and do the former:
    var
        d=app.activeDocument,
        p=d.pages,
        i, frames;
    for (i=0; i<p.length; i++) {
        frames = p[i].appliedMaster.textFrames.everyItem().override(p[i]);
        frames[2].place(new File("/path/to/page"+p[i].name+".doc"));

  • How do I 'assign a higher layer to the object on the master' (page numbers on master) I understand the layer needs to be at the top to show above placed images on pages but how do I do this?

    I've added the page numbers to my master pages. They are displaying on the pages but I have images on the individual pages that are covering the numbers. I understand I need to assign a higher layer to the object but I don't understand how to do that. Please help me? Please explain a simply clearly as possible, I've read other answers but still don't understand. Wish it was as simple as select object, right click, edit layer!
    Many thanks!

    Layers panel;
    Create new layer
    Switch to Master page
    Make sure new layer is on top in the Layers panel, if not drag the layer on top in the Layers panel.
    Select (click once on) that top layer (pen symbol appears behind that layer in the Layer panel)
    Now draw your page numbers etc on the Mastet page
    From now on, select (click once on) any Layer in the Layers panel that is below the layer you used on your Master page items and create new objects in your document pages.
    If you accidently created objects on a 'wrong' layer:
    Select those objects
    You will see a square behind the layers name in the Layers panel
    Click and hold the mouse on that square and drag it behind the name of the layer you want to move the objects to.
    Buy a book about InDesign and start learning these basic principles!

  • Second master page displays as a blank page

    Hi,
    just wondering if there is a work around for the following scenario:
    I have two different master pages (1 & 2) that are used to create two different page standards. I have two body pages (A & B ). Page A is placed on master page 1 and Page B is place on master page 2.
    Depending on the type of data that comes into the form, I have two possible scenarios that will be rendered. For one user, I want to display and print body page A & B. For a second user, I want to display only body page A.
    The problem arises when, for the second user, I hide body page B, however, an unwanted blank page appears on the form. This is a result of having two master pages, and not having subforms present on one of the master pages.
    So, is there a way to render a form that has a master page with no subforms so that I don't see this extra page.
    OR, a way to determine if a page is blank so that I can avoid printing it.
    thanks,
    John

    I found an example that stops a subform from rendering if there is no data. See: Program Files\Adobe\Designer\EN\Samples\E-Ticket
    However, all of my subforms have data, it is just that some is not relevant to some people.
    I just found a solution that works ok. I set the relevant property to "-print" for the appropriate subForm.

  • Custom Master Page issue with Document Set Libraries

    Details: Publishing site using SharePoint 2013.  The SharePoint is on my company's servers.
    Have a custom Master page that has a navigation banner (built with HTML/CSS/javascript).  The site has it applied successfully to the "Site Master Page" but when I also apply it to the "System Master Page", the libraries that have
    Document Set type content do not show the files within.   We'd like to be successful in applying to the "System Master Page" as that allows the banner to show when an actual library is accessed.    Any suggestions, please?

    Thanks. I've been experimenting with this for a few days now, and there's lots I don't understand about why and such, but your process above works. That's a big load off me right now and I really appreciate it. I'm going to be able to survive the initial
    roll-out and implementation of the new site. Going forward, I've got lots to learn and find out, I've already heard that there's a desire to really redesign the master page for the site and subsites, way beyond the little CSS customization I did. Fun.
    If you've got a little time though, perhaps you can provide some explanation. If not, no problem.
    On step 6, when I do as you detail, click the System Master Page and reset all the subsites, it seems to work fine with my custom master page. If I do that with the Site Master Page settings, my custom page causes the redirect issue in the subsites again.
    This is whether I do the Site Master Page by itself, or in conjunction with the System Master Page settings. If I revert back to the Seattle master page in the Site Master Page settings and my custom pate in the System Master Page, the issue goes away again.
    It is completely messing with my head, trying to figure out why that would be, and this is all beside trying to figure out why adding the one little CSS reference to the Seattle master to create my master page breaks things (sometimes!).
    Just fyi, what I've ended up with for now is pulling my custom master page out of the system and using the Alternate CSS URL to add my custom CSS to the Seattle master page on the sites. As I thought about all this, I decided I didn't want to leave the breakable
    custom page out there for some unsuspecting site manager to accidentally pick and get everyone screaming about the broken sites.
    Thanks again,
    Steven
