Master & slide title or object linking?

greetings,
i've been using keynote for a few years. i'm using keynote version 5.0.4, which is the current version. i compiled a presentation recently by copying slides from older presentations. i've made a newer master and have reassigned the master slide for the slide to be the same. however, the titles on the slides are not getting relinked to the master slide title. so changes to the master title style are not being reflected in the individual slides for most slides.
i've played with the "inspector" -> slide -> appearance to see if i can for the title to relink to the master, without success. so far the only way i've found to get the slide titles to connect to the new master is to insert a new slide and copy the slide body and presenters notes to the new slide. then i select the text in the old slide title and "paste & match style" in the new slide.
but my presentation is around 140 slides. and i don't want to have to do this to all of them to be able to globally control the style of the slide title.
i've searched some of the posts and haven't seen this addressed before. does anyone have any suggestions about how to relink the slide titles if they are no longer linked?

ahh! i found it...
1- select the object, in this case the title
2- right click
3- pop-up menu shows "reapply slide master to selection"
i spent about an hour yesterday fooling around this this, trying different things, and did't figure it out...
so in case someone else needs it, here it is...

Keynote 6.5 Loses Ability to Copy and Paste Master Objects (Titles, Body) From One Master Slide to Another

This is just a major pain point that I hope is fixed as soon as possible.
In all Keynote 6 versions of the past (and 5), you were able to do the following:
1) Copy a Title or Body object (with proper formatting) from one Master Slide to another.
1a) The slide you would paste it into would have had to have been deleted/unchecked.
2) The pasted Title and Body objects would then assume the role of the Master's Title and Body Boxes
Now:
Instead of assuming the role of the Master Slides Title and Body Boxes, they are simply text box objects. If you were to check "Title" or "Body", the old objects (with probably improper formatting) would still be that slide.

Can I put multiple object placeholder in Master slide?

I would like to know if I can creat multiple object placeholder in Master slide or not. After searching the disccusion, seems that this problem occur since Keynote 03 and is not improved till Keynote 09 now. In fact, I would like to make a slide show of multiple photos, but I would like to arrange several photos in one slide and exactly the same position and size in each slide. So, it would be easiler if I can make a master slide with mulitple object placeholders. Can anyone help or if there is any alternative ways? Thank you.

Apple Maps is not a GIS application. It might be one day. For now, you will have to use ArcGIS or something similar.

Master Slide Builds Bug? Fix?

USing Keynote 3.0.1 on 10.4.5
When I create a new Theme by creating new master slides with builds built into them I encounter a problem.
On one of my Master Slides (Title & Bullets) I have a title box, an object (Line) and a bullet text box.
I have set the Title to build automatically after transition, then I have set the Object (Line) to build automatically after the first build (Title).
I have then set the bullet box to build the first bnullet automatically after the Object and each bullet on click after that.
This has all been set at the Master Slide level.
When I apply that master slide to a slide within my presentation, the build order changes. The Object builds first instead of the Title. To get the correct order I have to re-apply the master to the particular slide.
This causes much confusion when I distribute the theme to my colleagues who are not as computer litererate as myself.
Is this a known bug? Is there a fix for it?

it won't keep the new format when pasting the text box on other slides.
Why are are you pasting the page number on to other slides when the master slide will place the slide number on all slides correctly formatted? There is no reason to do that.

Placeholders on Master Slides in Captivate 5 don't seem to work

Hi I'm very new to Captivate and I am exploring the trial version (5) to learn what it can do.
I am trying to create a project template with a master slide. I have added text caption placeholders to the master slide and saved the file as a project template.
When I create a 'new project from template' using this file I have created a slide based upon the master with placeholders but I am unable to edit the placeholders from the film strip view (they are not clickable, and stay locked). Am I doing something wrong?
There appeared to be a thread about an issue with Master slides but I don't know if this has been resolved.
I'm hoping it's an error on my part (which someone can hopefully correct me on) rather than a bug in Captivate as this would seem to be a pretty fundamental feature when creating courseware.

To really know the power of master slides and templates I should explain a lot more, but in my previous answer I just tried to explain why your approach was not the right one. In a template you can have much more than just a couple of slides with placeholders, you can have typical object styles, advanced actions, user variables etc. It would really need more than a short answer in this thread to explain all that. And that is different from just a blank slide, because placeholders (keeping all introduced styles) will not exist in a blank project, where you would have to insert text to have the proper layout etc.
Master slides can have variables inserted in a Text Caption, or even have a rollover caption that can have variables in it. I tried to explain the use of variables in this article, and there are examples to be used on a master slide:

If you work with stencil slides, indeed the user will have to duplicate stencil slides to use them. Captivate is not Powerpoint, which is meant for presentations on the first place, while Captivate is meant for developing software training, soft skills trainings, assessments and perhaps presentations.

copy any objects you want to keep,
Select all, (command A), and press delete key.
Paste back the items to retain (Command V)

Unhide objects within master slides?

Hi,
I have a bunch of flash animations on a master slide in Cp 5.0, and some of them overlap one another, so I right-clicked an animation and chose 'Hide' in order to get it out of the way so I could get to the animation under it. That was apparently a bad idea, because now I can't find a way to unhide it, since the master slides don't have their own timeline.
In other words, since the object is now hidden, I can't right-click it to 'unhide' it because it is not there to right-click. The animation still plays in F10, so I know its still there, I just can't get to it to edit it. Does anyone know a way to unhide something that has been hidden like this on a master slide? Or, even better, a way to bring up a 'timeline' for the master slide?

PDF from Keynote_Exit Slide object link error

When I export Keynote presentation to PDF all the object hyperlinks work fine (Forward / Back / Specific Slide No) but the 'Exit Slideshow' object doesn't even though it appears as a hyperlink. Any thoughts much appreciated. Thanks very much.

Hi Jay,
Independent of the 'Object check' flag within document management
system customising, the object links can be broadly categorised into
two types
1. Links that can be created without their existence previously
Ex: material master, equipment, customer, vendor etc.
This means that even thought a material XYZ does not exists in R/3 there
is a possibility to link it to a document, and create the material at
any later point of time.
2. Links that are mandatorily to be present before linking them with
the document. Ex: WBS element, Sales order item, document info record,
asset master etc
This means that R/3 system expects the links to be existing before they
are linked to any document.
The above explaination goes irrespective of the customising setting.
The system is designed to reject NON-existing entries of WBS elements,
sales order etc, when user tries to link them.

Unable to Paste Objects from Slides into Master Slides

I'm wondering if I'm missing a step or if anyone else has this problem:
I'm adding a new master slide to a theme and trying to customize it by copying objects and text boxes I've made on a regular slide onto a master slide. I can copy and paste on the regular slide, but the master slide will not accept any pasted objects, even though they were made in Keynote.
I can't find any way to unlock a whole slide, or other clue to making the new master slide accept the pasted objects.

Figured it out...
1. Open the "problematic" document.
2. Go to slide with the elements you want to copy (not your master slide)
3. Open your Inspector box > Slide tab > Appearance tab.
4. Uncheck ALL components - Title, Body, Slide Number, Object Placeholder.
5. Go back to the slide and "select all" (or individual elements), and select Edit > Copy.
6. Go to your Master Slide and paste (done)
Don't ask me why the software behaves like this, step 4 is the kicker! It doesn't make sense to me, but I'm sure someone with greater knowledge of the app can answer that question.

Objects in master slide disappear

I got a problem with my master slides. I don't know why, but in some projects (not all), at some point, some objects (not all) in the master slide disappear. They are in the timeline, but we cannot see them in the document window display nor in the published swf.
What's the bug? (I'm using Captivate 5.5)

I totally understand about the visibility on Timeline having no effect on the published output.
Let me try to explain this differently. Consider your Captivate workspace to be like a piece of paper. Perhaps you lay another piece of paper sized identically to the first on top of the paper. That second piece is colored gray. So it would provide the illusion of a gray background. You insert a caption and you see the caption and the gray background. You later insert another image. Perhaps a small photo. Now you see the caption, the photo and the gray background. But what if the photo were the same size as the paper? Then the whole photo would just cover the gray background. That's what I was trying to get at by turning off visibility in the timeline. Thinking that perhaps you have something large that is just covering things up where you cannot see them.

Yes, select the Master slide, then
Chose the "Slide" tab in the inspector, then "Appearance" and select "Allow objects on slide to layer with master"

In past versions of Keynote 6:
Premise:
An object is placed on a Master Slide (not a placeholder)
That master is applied to slides.
An Object Transition (Cube, Revolve, Pop, Push, Flip, Zoom Perspective) is applied to that slide (which is followed by a slide with the same master)
Result:
Only objects not on the master slide would animate during the transition leading to a premium feeling transition.

Result:
All objects animate, including non placeholder Master Slide objects resulting in "too much" happening on screen.
As a presentation designer who makes a living on Keynote, this is a huge step back. It was a time suck, often somewhat pixelated, a huge addition to file size (especially for templating), and cumbersome to make small changes like adjusting position of logos.
Apple... I hope one of your engineers are reading this and creates a fix for this in the near future.

Is it possible to float Master Slide objects above all slide content?

I would like to have text on my master slide to always show above content on each individual slides?
I just started using Keynote, so I'm kind of a beginner, although I've know how to do this in something like inDesign. Obviously Keynote is not a design layout app, but it should at least have some of these basic features, especially since it seems it would be easy to implement.

Ah! I didn't see when you originally posted, but, no, there's no way to have Master slide object in "front" of the other stuff. I even tried it with a media placeholder and still, no-go. Be sure to send your feature request to Apple by way of this page.

Is it possible to object link HR master to DMS? If yes Plz explain me steps.I have requirement of attaching all employee related documents to that employe HR master.If this is not possible through object link, then plz let me know other possible ways.

You use ArchiveLink not DMS in HR. Big difference between the two is ArchiveLink does not allow for versioning.
Archivelink allows you to store documents against infotypes in HR and the authorisations follow those infotypes.
Tcodes to look at are OAC0 (content server for storage), OAC2 (doc type config), OAD5 (config doc type against HR object in SAP). The documents are stored used OAWD. You can find the documents by using OAOR or selecting the menu path EXRAS - Display Facsimile (for all documents) or Display Specific Facsimiles for documents related to that specific infotype.

Add an object placeholder to a master slide

How do I add an Object Placeholder to a master slide so I can drag and drop photos and have the pictures automatically size themselves to fit the placeholder? (I need to place 400 images, 18 to a slide and manage their builds individually.)

To add a placeholder to a master, select the master, and then in the Master Slide Inspector palette, select the Appearance tab, and under Layout check the "Object Placeholder" option.
However, do note that a slide can have only one Object Placeholder on it. If you have a large number of images that need to be sized to certain maximum dimensions, you might find instead that a tool such as Downsize is useful -- it will automatically resize a folder of images to a maximum height or width (and it's only $20). ImageWell also does quick resizing (freeware, although no batch feature).
