Master Templates in FCP all gone Black
The Master Templates (under Effects) in my FCP have all gone Black.
But everything else under Effects are ok.
What happened and how to I revive the Master Templates?
Thanks for the link but it hasn't solved our problem.
We had to reload our software two weeks ago and that's when the problem started. We've done all the updates and trashed preferences but still black frames. Most of the past discussions end with users having no resolution.

Can't open master templates in FCP
I have FCP-2 version 2. When I open master templates in FCP all I get are empty frames and nothing in the viewer. Even after rendering everything is black. If I go into motion and create there and click "Save as template" the same problem. So far all I can do is save my creation as a quicktime movie...is there another way?
Hi
Thanks for asking..
Indeed. We've been trying to use an HD-Connect SI box in conjunction with a Decklink HD Extream card to import 720/50p but it's been a nightmare. So when FCP 6.0.2 was released (As they promised back in October at the IBC) we were over the moon that it supported 720/50p. But as I mentioned, now Motion, Compressor and FCP are all playing up. I haven't even looked at DVD Studio yet.
I'm doing a complete reinstall of FCS 2 as I've got to get on. Incidentally I have been searching for a comprehensive way to uninstall FCP?
Anyway, with FCS 2 back to it's original version at least I can keep working, the 720/50p footage will have to wait, unless there's a fix for the bugs?

I am having issues placing digital pictures in master templates in FCP 6
Hello everyone, this is my first post but I have been using Mac's for some time now with basically no issues.
I have two major issues:
First off, I am trying to place digital pictures which are enormous in the master template drop boxes, when I do this it cuts off the top and bottom of the image but the image still looks clear. The pictures I am importing are 1200 x 1800 jpg files, and were shot with a Canon EOS 30D. What I did was take all the images I needed and used Motion Pictures from Toast Titanium 8 and made a slideshow which I then exported as a QuickTime movie. I didn't know how to encode it so I used the DV/DVCPRO - NTSC codec and the dimensions were set to 3240 x 2430 since I thought that should give me the best quality image right?
Anyway, after doing this I have imported this QuickTime movie into Final Cut Pro and then I cut it up and placed little clips into each drop box. This makes it so I can see the whole picture now, but it still is not as high quality as the original pictures.
So, I have tried many times to export this master template with the pictures in the drop boxes and the finished QuickTime file looks terrible. I have not changed anything in the settings and when I export the quicktime movie I keep all the settings the same.
What do I need to do to get this to look better? Any ideas?
The other thing is that I have noticed a big reduction in quality from when I have the unrendered master template with the digital images in the drop boxes to when it autorenders after I have been away from the computer since I am stressing from this.
I am trying to take these pictures of high school basketball players and use the master template to have all the players pics and names come flying on the screen before the game comes on.
Any ideas? Why is the quality so bad? Am I doing something wrong? I have searched throughout the forums and found little information for digital images being imported into master templates, and I do not know if I am using a lossy format or something?
Any help is extremely appreciated!First off, I am trying to place digital pictures which are enormous in the master template drop boxes, when I do this it cuts off the top and bottom of the image but the image still looks clear. Digital pictures are no different than any other still images, or movies, for that matter, as fas as Motion or FCP are concerned, they're just pixels.
Your image are way too big for video. Even if you're doing high def, you're scaling them down to fit many on the screen. Thye don't need to be an larger than, say, 1k on the long side.
You blew them up by a factor of 300% to get them out at 3240 x 2430 so now you've made all the pixels bigger than they used to be, you haven't added any pixels. Now you're biring that huge movie into FCVP and scaling it down by a factor of about 90%, wasting huge processing time and muscle and tons of disk space, totally wasted, and every scaling operation has introduced tons of artifacts.
Throw it all ways. Batch your photos through Photoshop to change them all into 1k jpegs and start over.
The templates are fun places to start but the mattes are (mostly) designed to crop and scale. so if you have images that are huge, they just get scaled to fit. You want to start with an image that requires the least amount of scaling.
Welcome to the family. Video is hard.

Can't see Master Templates in FCP 6
Hello,
I'm trying to view my master templates in FCP 6. Both the user templates that I've created in Motion 2 and the factory templates that come with Motion 3 are showing a white screen when I try to open them in the viewer or the the timeline. The other computer in the studio has the same stats as mine and is able to view the templates. Am I missing a setting?
Thanks,
ericOpen IE Control Panel, select Java (if you can't, there's a problem with the Java install), select Advanced tab, expand <APPLET> tag support, and click IE. Click OK.
Close all IE windows to reinitialize IE, then try the applet. -
How to install downloaded free master templates in FCP 7?
I have downloaded some free "master templates to create lower thirds in FCP 7. I can open them one by one in FCP, but I can't install them into any specific folders of my MacBook OS (so that they can be accessed directly from FCP 7 browser or short cuts). I could not find - Library - Application Support - Final Cut Studio - Motion - Templates. Could any one tell me how to install them?
What do you mean previewed, do you mean the small preview window in Final Cut’s Master Templates browser or the rendering on the timeline itself?
If it is the rendering the following link contains a short tutorial on a few things you may do to speed up renders in motion: http://motion-master-templates.com/free-templates/reflective-flooring-template
It is the second video from the top. Let me know if this helps.
Have a wonderful day

FCP 7.0.3 Crashing/Not responding while importing master templates
Hi
I have Apple Motion 4 , Apple Motion 5 and Final Cut Pro 7.3.0 in my old mac mini. All were working fine (Not sure about FCP7).I recently installed some Master Templates (Motion 4 & 5) under username1. Now when I try to drag and drop master template to FCP timeline its showing the spinning wait cursor..and its not loading anything even after one hour.
One interesting thing is FCP master templates are working fine without any issue in other logins like username2.
I would like to mention some points here
1. Motion 4 installed under root folder so it will be available for all users
2. Motion 5 installed under username1 so it will not be available for others
Is there a solution for this issue..i tried trashing preference and all..but no use.
Pls help me
Thanks,
Praveen N Uhttp://www.digitalrebellion.com/promaintenance/
Has a crash analyzer. Pretty sure there's a free demo

FCP cannot see or add any master templates
For some unknown reason, my FCP cannot see or add any master templates even thou all of the master templates are there in the right directory. Can someone take me through the steps to correct this issue? I have FCP 6.0.6 and Motion 3.0.2
I appreciate any help I can get.http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301852
Remove QuickTime receipts:
Go to /Library/Receipts/
Locate the QuickTime receipts files.
Select all QuickTime receipts that have version numbers as part of their names (but don't select the other QuickTime receipts). Here's an example of what they look like (you may have different receipts on your computer):
Drag the selected receipts to the Trash.
Download and install the latest version of QuickTime for Mac OS X.
After following these steps and restarting your computer, your DV device should interact with Final Cut as expected. -
FCP Crashes when adding a Master Template
Hi,
I'm pretty new using fcp7, only been learning for about 2 months.
I'm trying to use any Master Template but fcp crashes before it loads them. The program works fine while doing any other editing or bringing filters and transitions.
Does anyone have a crash analyser to figure it out what the problem is? Any expert out there?

What is your exact brand/model graphics adapter (ATI or nVidia or ???)
What is your exact graphics adapter driver version?
Have you gone to the vendor web site to check for a newer driver?
For Windows, do NOT rely on Windows Update to have current driver information
-you need to go direct to the vendor web site and check updates for yourself
ATI Driver Autodetect http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/auto-detect-tool
nVidia Driver Downloads http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
Go to the Windows Control Panel and select Hardware and Sound and then select Device Manager... In Device manager you click the + sign to the left of Display Adapters... and see if 2 are listed
IF YES, read below

Changing Fonts in Master Templates
I apologize in advance, this is pretty basic stuff and I'm sure its covered in the manual but I am up against a deadline and I normally never deal with Motion or Master Templates in FCP but its a client thing
I just want to change the font of a Motion Template. I laid the template into my Timeline and did the open as copy thing which got me into Motion. I'm stumped there. There must be an easy way to change that default font. I've tried changing the font of the "Title Info" I've tried creating a whole new title but I can't seem to erase the default and get my own, or I can only change the fault of one of the titles
Any help would be greatly appreciatedIn the Layers tab, select the text layer you want to change. In the HUD, change the font.

Master Templates is crashing FCP 7, In Maverick
I just updated my iMac from Lion to Maveric. I was very disapointed that all the Master Templates HD are crashing FCP 7. Its amazing that Apple did not fix this issue with FCP7 upgrade. To get FCP X is out of the question.
Is there a solution thanks.Have you tried trashing your FCP Preferences? This is a common first step when you get unexpected performance from Final Cut Studio components.
You can download Preference Manager from Digital Rebellion (free) and it will do it for you:
http://www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/
Your preferences will be reset to default settings the nest time you launch the applications.

Using a master template found in FCP for menu in STUDIO PRO 4?
Can you use one of the fcp master templates in DVD studio pro?
I like one of the light templates that I find in fcp and I would like to use it as a template for my dvd menu. Can I do that? thanks
I have FCP 6 and DVD studio 4.Sure...design your menu in FCP then export it out as 720x480 and use that in DVDSP.
