Master volume drops out

I'm running logic express 9.1.7 on an imac running snow leopard.  If I try to run more than two plug-ins (e.g., omnisphere, East/West symphony orchestra, Ivory) or more than two instances of any of these, when trying to record, if I play the keyboard (kog m3) with any velocity, the master fader drops to the bottom (no sound to monitor), even though recording continues.  I've tried adjusting the levels of the plug-ins and a lot of other variations, nothing seems to matter.  I have no problem recording while pounding on the keyboard with two plug-ins.
Any ideas what's going on?

But it only happens when I run multiple (more than two) plug-ins, not if I run one or two.  The controller can't distinguish how many plug-ins are running in Logic.   ???

  • Master volume muting on playback

    Hi,
Suddenly when my audio is playing past a certain point (going from one audio track to another separate one on the same audio track line) the master volume drops to the far left and I cannot hear any audio. For me to hear anything I have to drag the master volume back up to 0.0DB but if I click space bar to stop or start the track again the same thing happens and the master volume drops to the far left and no audio can be heard effectively muting it.
PLEASE HELP. this is driving me wild as I can see no difference in setup from the audio segment playing a few seconds before on the time line to the next audio sitting along side from it (this is all on track line 1) yet this problem won't stop.
    Tks in advance.

Yes, I did both, I followed the help files instructions step by step.

  • My soundcard is dropping out as I make changes in the volume line

Can anybody tell me what to do? I work in Soundtrack Pro with an Apogee mini-me or M-box as soundcard. If I make changes in the volume-line after a while the soundcard is dropping out and no more sound is coming also when I try to change the system sound settings again to computer or soundcard. I have to restart the whole computer before the sound is working again. It is a problem working with the I-Mac as with the Mac pro I work on.

I'm having a similar issue; however it appears to only affect midi files. I can rename them in itunes or finder (either directly or with the information window); the results are the same: The data (name, artist genre etc.) appears to be ok until the file is played.
I am using iTunes 7.6.1 on the mac.
Mumpitz, are you having this issue with mp3's as well?

  • Troubling connection with iTunes (I have to jiggle the cable), and my volume bar drops out very often.

Whenever I am syncing my iPhone 4 (with iOS 6.1.3) via cable with iTunes, I have to jiggle the cable to get it to connect with iTunes. Also, whenever I'm listening to any kind of sound, sometimes the sound just drops out and the volume bar disappears.
I asked an Apple tech in the store, and he told me to restore the phone and set up as new phone. I have done this with no success. Any suggestions

  • Why does using a digital connection from headphones out on a Mac into a stereo disable the master volume control on the Mac?

When you use an analog connector, it does not disable the master volume on the Mac. It's only when you use a digital connector, and it's ALL digital connectors. It still allows you to use the iTunes volume control but, when you stream anything else on the web on your computer, you have to use the stereo's volume control because the master volume control on the Mac has been disabled. Does anyone know why?

I had the same problem, instead of logging in the router with the iMac (impossible) I did it with my iPad, I guess you can do the same with an iPhone.
-Disconnect the iPad from your wifi network and connect it to the TP-Link repeater.
-Open the web browser (I use chrome) be sure you don't have any other open tab, just the one to access tptlinkextender.net
-The configuring page opens, from there follow the steps of detecting your network and adding the password.
*If your MAC address is hidden it'll appear without name, in that case you have to configure it manually (write the name on the space for that)
Now go, be happy and do good.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Volume drops to z

I've had the card a couple weeks and experienced no problems initially. Now the volume automatically drops to nothing. If I open the Surround Mixer, or even the Windows Volume Control, the Master Volume will be at the lowest point. When I try to move it back up it quickly drops back down to zero on its own (takes about three seconds). If I mute the sound the volume meter stops falling, but of course that doesn't solve my problem. If I set the output to Digital Only the volume meter stops falling also, but that doesn't help me since I don't have a digital speaker system.
I've tried everything I can think of... removing and re-installing all the drivers, shutting down all other services, removing all inputs and outputs to the card, using just headphones. The MB on-board sound has been disabled through the BIOS since I installed the SB card. There's no other sound card drivers installed.
My sound card is worthless unless I can get this fixed. Any ideas?

    Problem Found!
This diagnosis probably applies to me only but its worth checking.
The problem exists in my Creative Speakers' Remote Control (MODEL: MZ0005)
As we all know, the volume knob spins counter-clockwise and clockwise. However, when I PUSH in the knob, I noticed the volume rises, if I let go the volume dro
    ps.
My assumption is the wiring inside the remote control is loose or something of that nature..nothing new to anyone who works with mixers.
I will attempt to open and fix this issue or just order a new remote control. I hope this helps anyone out there.
P.S. I guess this belongs in the speakers forum, this is not audigy related. Peace

  • Re: Broadband noise/ drop out/ speed issues

    Hi community.
I know this thread is old and probably closed but I would like to revive it.
I have exactly the same problem as MPR and any advice would be welcome.
I am a long way from the exchange, the line comes into my house overhead.  I reported intermittent line dropping weeks ago, spoke to several different people, all very polite, very caring, but not much use.
Several diagnosed fault on the line and said it would be fixed remotely.  One sent me a new home hub 2 to replace the one they diagnosed as faulty, though God knows how.
I kept saying that I suspected a physical fault with the line as a bundle of cables wired into a junction box (big black thing - looked like a toy from Anne Summers but never mind) was hanging down from one of the telegraph poles and the foil around the end where the wires went in lookd as if it was not fully weather-proof.
Eventually, last Friday, an engineer was sent round.  Checked inside the house, checked outside the house and said there was no problem with the line.  He detected noise which he suspected was causing the drop-out and said he would see if there was any water getting in anywhere which might cause this.
The hanging down thingy was secured better to the telegraph pole but I don't know if anything else was done.
Right away, same problem.  Intermittent orange flashing broadband light on the hub.  Occasionally no broadband light at all.  Usually needs to be re-set though sometimes comes back on its own.
If you have any advice I would be most appreciative.  This is costing me money as when my better half wanted to order something online, found a good price, put the details in and clicked "BUY", the line dropped.  By the time it came back up, the price had gone up £30.
Anyway, I'm calling them again tonight when I get home.  I would say "no more Mr Nice Guy" but that doesn't get you anywhere does it?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Sorry to hear that your having problems with your BT Broadband.
You will either be on the ADSLMax (upto 8mbps) service or if your exchange has been BTw 21cn upgraded you maybe on the ADSL2/2+ (upto 12/20mbps) service depending on your line quality and length.
However these upto speeds may not be the speeds you will get as ADSL broadband connections are very dependent on the distance from your property to the exchange and the quality of your line. The further away you are from your local exchange the slower your broadband speed will be.
To enable the community to help you please see the advice below:
Please see Keith's help guide here: Helping forum members to help you, it will go through some checks that are needed for us to help you.
A summary of the checks are:
1a) Is your router/Homehub connected by a BT NTE5 master socket, Adsl Filtered Master Socket or Extension Socket?   Please bear in mind that extension cables and extension sockets can reduce the broadband's performance. If you have an Old LJU master socket then please say.
1b) Have you tried the Test Socket?
    2) Can you please run a BT speed test (including IP Profile) http://speedtester.bt.com (not beta version)[Best done with a wired, Ethernet, connection] If the other link doesn't work you can try http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/
    3) is there any noise on your line. dial 17070 option2 ,called quite line test, from landline phone. should be silent but slight hum normal on cordless phone.
    4) please post adsl line statistics

  • Broadband dropping out

It seems that every couple of days at random my broadband connection drops and I have to wait for my home hub to reconnect. It has only been happening during the last week.
Last Monday I had an engineer out to reconnect the lines coming into my house after the bad weather managed to rip them out of the exterior socket. Since they have been reconnected my connection has been dropping out randomly during the evenings. I didn't have this problem before the line got damaged. I have tried a spare filter, it is always plugged into the test/master socket and the phone line sounds a lot clearer now than it did before it was reconnected when I didn't get the drop outs but did get some mild line interference sometimes. Since the engineer visit i seem to have a clearer phone line but a crappier broadband connection

Only have one socket in the flat which i presume is the master/test socket, think it's the hub 3, had it just over a year now. Finally got access to the settings using the password override.

  • Broadband drops 'out' more than 'in' - OpenReach a...

First, forgive me if a similar problem has been posted; I've had to resort to a 2G O2 dongle & speeds are so bad that I can't search the forum.  For weeks (months?) now I've had terrible broadband connectivity - sometimes going for days without a connection lasting for more than 2 or 3 seconds.  Sometimes we get up to 5 days of great connectivity with speeds of 1mbps and then (as now) days with no useable broadband at all.
We've had our line changed from the exchange, we've had a new master socket installed, we've tried 3 different routers - and each time it's the same... it works fine while the engineer is here, and then it drops 24-48 hours after he leaves.  When we do get an appointment sod's law says that all is working fine.
Symptoms are that the DSL light flashes nearly all the time and about once every 5 minutes it goes solid.  The internet light goes green momentarily, or sometimes goes red, or generally goes out again.  If we do get a connection then any attempt to use it sees it drop out almost immediately.
    The phone line works.
Routers used - Netgear DG834 v4, but we've also tried a BT Voyager and an old 2wire BT Business router.  All are programmed with the correct usernames and passwords - as demonstrated by the fact that we sometimes get days of good connectivity.
Anyone got any bright ideas?  All appreciated!
    Thanks.
P.S. OpenReach due back here again Tuesday, by which time it will probably be on its 'good' cycle of working again...

This only started to happen when I moved from ADSL Max to ADSL 2+ and my connection speed increased from approx. 5-6 meg to the current 8 meg speed. I have tried plugging into the test socket, a new microfilter and a new hub (HH1 and HH3). Can anybody suggest a solution please?

    Thanks,
Assuming that there was nothing else connected in circuit when you tested at the master socket, then there must be a high resistance joint on the external network.
There is a bit more information from BT about disconnections here.
Disconnections - especially when phone rings
You can report it as a broadband fault, but you will have to go through the whole script with the hepdesk
These HR faults can be difficult to locate, and as you have gone to the trouble of visiting this forum, and have done the test I requested, it would be better to ask the BT Care Team to arrange for a "Quality Check" on your line. This involves Openreach checking/reterminating all the external connections.
If you would like to contact one of the UK based BT Care Team who moderate this forum, they should be able to help you.
They will read this thread and see what tests you have done.
They can be contacted using this link BT Care Team
They normally respond by phone or e-mail, within three working days, however you should get an immediate confirmation, with a tracking number.

  • Here we go again. My internet is dropping out and ...

I'm disabled seriously disabled my internet is actually my life.
Three four weeks ago I had a phone call about going onto the new  sytem, I was told it would cost no more then £2 a month and would be a massive difference to me. I said is that the total cost and they said nope you also have to pay £60 for an egnieer to come oiut and £30 for the modem.
I said at this time I just cannot afford this and the lady said oh come on your can afford that have you thought of cutting back on something, and I said I cannot live now and we are already cutting back, she then asked can you not get others to give you some money.
I ended up putting the phone down on this lady I know these people are on commission but this was getting ridiculous .
Since this phone call all I have had is my broadband dropping out four or five times a day and it obviously done to try and get me to change.
Now then I get £96 a week in ESA benefits to live on and pay my way the Internet to me is a luxury item one I'm struggling to pay for, the phone lines is expensive and the Internet is paid for by me cutting back on other things I cannot afford to pay more especially not an extra £90 and I dislike people trying to sell me something and telling me I should cut back.
Leave my Internet alone I've had my son replace all the lines and I've had a new filter, but your chap working on the phone lines three weeks go means my phone lines is now really noisy again. I cannot afford the new Internet system it to much for me ton pay for.
I've been with BT all my life actually all my life, and at sixty two now I do not want to change but if you force me to go I will.

I appreciate you may not be able to do some of the requests but maybe you can get some help from your son but in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router you may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or if HH4/5 then go to troubleshooting then logs and you are looking for 2 line together when hub last connected to internet and they will show your connection speed and noise margin or if netgear enter 192.168.0.1). Then run  btspeedtester  (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results ( do not reset the router).
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

  • ALSA - Master volume no longer having an effect on headphone volume

I use ALSA and have both my 'front' (speakers) and 'headphone' audio volume set to max. Then I control the two by adjusting the master volume.
Since my last system update this worked fine however now when I change the master volume it only affects the sound coming from my speakers and my headphones are constantly at max unless I specifically change the headphone volume in 'alsamixer'. This is inconvenient since I have the master volume controlled by hotkeys.
I know I can work around this and hotkey my controls to change both the master and headphone volumes but this leaves room for things getting out of sync. Is there a way to revert back to the old method?

    Hi-
"Essentially" a clone and a clone are not the same. There are alot of things that don't get copied when you simply drag folders. Pathways to aliases are one of them.
Use SuperDuper! (the best IMHO) or Carbon Copy Cloner to get real bootable clones of your system and files.

  • IPhone Signal Issues on Orange UK/Wi-Fi Dropping Out

I have noticed an issue with my iPhone 4 that seems to be unique to Orange/T-Mobile UK customers.
I'm sure you are all aware that Orange and T-Mobile customers in the UK can now share their respective networks which is all fine and dandy until there is an issue with one of their networks. Since November last year the Orange mast where I live has been down so I was told by Orange to manually log my iPhone onto the T-Mobile network as their mast was fine. However my iPhone still tries to pick up the Orange signal which is very weak so I get a lot of calls and connections dropping out.
Orange told me that my iPhone must be faulty so sent me off to my local Apple Store who told me that there was nothing wrong with my iPhone and that how it acted as even if I manually select a network it will carry on picking up any signal it can. Now as much as I love Apple that sounds like a load of bull to me, what's the point of having such an option on my phone if it doesn't actually do anything?!
Can anyone out there help or advise? Software Version is 5.1 (9B176) and Carrier is Orange UK 12.0
Also I have an issue where my iPhone keeps dropping the Wi-Fi connection. It's not a case where the network has been lost as it is still in the network list and I can immediately reselect it. The only way I can stop this from happening is by switching off the 3G and Mobile Data. Again the Apple Store say this is an issue with my Wi-Fi router (I am with Virgin Media and have a N Router) and say I should invest in an AirPort. The fact that i also have an iPad 2 and a PC which do not have these issues seem to have been lost on them. Again any help or advice you Guys can give would be appreciated

    hi banjo72.
as for the first part, there is nothing you can do,until orange sort out there mast, near your location.i know its a pain in the rear,i have low signal where i am and my orange logo, keeps jumping from orange and t-mobile like a yo-yo.once i am near a good signal it stays on orange.
    wi-fi connection issue.
you can try two things, first one is to go into settings-general-scroll down-reset-re-set network settings.
second thing to try is press the wi-fi reset button on your router.

  • Broadband drops out & noisy phone lines.

    Hi,
Not sure whether this needs to be posted here or in the phone section as both areas are effected.
My property is pretty old and the internal phone sockets/wiring is also quite dated. I've always had issues with my phone lines being very noisy to the point where i have simply done away with having a house phone (not ideal).
I use my internet for many hours every day - its an essential part of my life and income. I had a new internal socket fitted about 2 or 3 years back exclusively for my internet use to help improve the connection which had been fine until recently.
I had new windows fitted which required the socket to be moved & ever since then my connection has been unreliable and drops out.
Ive reported the fault on the line earlier today and am waiting to hear back off BT but thought i'd post here in the mean time.
I use a Belkin router and have spoken to them but they were unable to help. After running a few tests they said it was most likel a phone line fault. I have also tried a different router and experienced exactly the same issues.
How do i go about identifying the fault & getting it fixed? With it likely being an internal fault, is it likely to cost me money? What are the terms & conditions with this type of problem?
Also, how would i go about getting new sockets installed in my house so i could get a working house phone? How much is this likely to cost?
    Thanks for any advice.

was the new socket you had fitted like this    if so any extension sockets in your home should be connected to the back of the bottom half of the socket NTE5.  It may be that moving the socket has moved some of the wires and they are loose.
BT are responsible for the wiring up to the first socket in your where the cable comes in from outside.  if the problem is found to be your internal wiring after the master socket then you will be charged at least £130

it drops out every few hours and has done for almost 2 months.  i cant watch a movie or play a game without losing connection at least once, maybe twice if i am really unlucky.
i got a new hh5 a little while ago and was fine for a while. then the problems started - dropping 2 or 3 times a day.  contacted bt and they sent a replacement hh5. no change.  eventually in the last few days got worse and its now sometimes dropping at least a dozen times a day, rendering my connection little short of useless.
almost convinced it was a hh5 issue as they seemed to take an age to resynch, so bought an asus dsl-n66u and crossed my fingers.
soon enough, connection dropped again and again.
i have tried 3 different cables, between router and socket, removed the openreach faceplate and plugged a new filter  in to the test socket.  connected for around 4 hours and droped again.
Connection details from the Asus, with the filter in the master socket - the same as with the openreach filter (as you can see i lost connection again not so long ago.

The OR modem is a couple of years old, not sure of the exact model as it's mounted on the wall behind a piano.  Not used it since we have the HH5 or the Asus, but as i said earlier, the same happens with the OR modem plugged in to the WAN socket on the Asus and the HH5
