Masters from 23:59:00:00

Hi everyone,
I have a masters send to me on DVCAM that starts with the TC : 23:59:10:00
so the program starts from 00:00:00:00
I have to capture trough the TC going from 23:59:20:00 to 00:30:00:00
it dies with TC error message .. and I would like to batch capture not capture NOW...
any solutions ?
Thank you

Sorry, but whoever sent you those masters doesn't have a CLUE what they are doing. That is just plain wrong...and you are seeing why.
Program times always need to be on the 1:00:00:00 hour. Or the 10;00;00;00 for the BBC, or even 2:00:00:00...a NUMBERED hour. NEVER 00;00;00;00.
The person who made that master is a bonehead.
OPTIONS? Capture without timecode (not a bright idea), dub to another tape and use THAT tape as the master. Also, tell the person that their show is improperly formatted...and not to do that again.
Unless they deliver to some Bizarro world client/network that require this odd timecode.

  • Relocating Masters from one ext. drive to another...

I am seeking some advice to Aperture (latest version):
So far the folder of my Master-files has been relocated to an external hard disk, Consequently, in the event of reediting my pictures, I shall have to connect the said hard disk, when/if I would like to get hold of the Masters. Lately I faced a problem with the said external harddisk, and thought that my pictures (MASTERS) were in a process of disappearing. Luckily it appeared that the failure was related to  a defect power supply only. BUT, I don't dare going on with this  hard drive any longer, being by the way rather old, and immediately I bought a new 1 TB Lacie disk to which I intend to "copy" my Masters. I have by now tried out various ways of moving those Masters from the defect external drive to the NEW external drive, thus pulling the respective folder with the Masters to it's new place - however, hopefully, WITHOUT losing the same folder/files on the partly defect external harddisk. I have already tried "migrations" and a lot of other" tricks" - also pointing with the cursor to the NEW drive - but in vain. To be even more precise: Aperture seems not to be able to find it's way (to "see") the Masters on the new external hard disk - but they ARE there.....I can see them on the new drive. Could a cloning from the defect ext. drive to the new ext. drive be a way of procedure? Or are there more "normal" ways to bring in practise.
Indeed I would be most grateful for any advice that may lead to a succesful detecting of the said masters in their new position, i.e. the new external harddrive. Thanks!

    No problem at all
Normally I'd tell you to plug in the old hard drive that contains the masters (so they come back online) and then use the Relocate Masters command we talked about. This will work.
But: I'm a little worried about doing that with a flaky drive. The reason being that when you Relocate masters they are physically moved from one location to another - not copied. So if your source drive should fail midstream it could potentially lead to problems.
If you have a backup of those files elsewhere then go ahead, it's the simplest solution. Otherwise what I'd do is go to the Finder and copy the files to the new drive (just drag your folder from the old to the new). Then, once it's finished copying eject the old faulty drive: in Aperture all your files will now be offline. At that point use the Locate referenced masters command, point Aperture to a missing file in the new location and click Reconnect All.
Aperture will relink everything to the new drive and you should be on your way.

  • Moving Masters from Album to Album does not actually change reference.

Im not sure if this problem has been addressed, or if I'm the only one experiencing it. I have moved masters from one project (ex. Pictures Project) to another project (Trips Project). The moved masters, in the metadata view, still show its master location in the Pictures project. I have seperated these photos into their own albums for each city visited, so when I click on the album, the images show up. But if I click on the Trips project, it does not think there are any images in the project and nothing shows up. Is anyone else having this problem?

    Hi Kevin,
I wish aperture would realize that the images have been relocated and add them into the project it is now associated with.
This is actually a feature because Albums can contain images from more than one Project. This is really a very useful way to group images, and I wouldn't want to see it changed. There's a great article about the Library structure here:

  • Relocating iPhoto Masters from within Aperture 3.2.4?

    Here's my challenge:
I was running out of room on my MBP 500 GB HD, so I added an external 3 TB drive and relocated some of the Masters from my Aperture 3.2.4 library to the external drive. This gave me about 40 GB additional space on the drive.
Then I realized that most of the space on the disk was taken up by using Aperture 3 with my iPhoto (circa 2007) library (which I never use anymore).
When I attempt to relocate the masters I get a message saying the masters can't be relocated.
I can see the iPhoto events in Aperture, and I want to use Aperture to relocate the iPhoto masters (instead of exporting 10,000 images out of iPhoto).
Also, is there a utility just for upgrading previous iPhoto libraries (without upgrading to iLife 11 which I have no need for)?
    Thanks,

  • Unable to Transfer Customer Masters from feeder system to GTS!

    Hi all,
I am facing a problem in transferring customer masters from ecc to gts. The RFC's are working properly (i.e Material Masters are getting transferred properly) but customers are not going. When i go to slg1 it is giving me a display log message as "No Customs Business Partner exists for partner" and when i go to legalr3 it is saying 0 were processed when i am trying to transfer a list of customers. The basic config has been done ie org structure, doc type mapping, item cat mapping, and the necessary compliance config...
Would appreciate if you could provide some help here?
    Thanks,
    Raj Mohan

    Hi Raj,
As you have already mentioned that RFCs are working fine, However To be on safe side, I will recommend to check the basis setting again.. Please follow the steps below and let me know if it helps.
    R/3 client:-
Please make sure that there should be no change in Logical naming of the R/3 client (scc4)
RFC Destinations are maintained properly for RFC Calls. Please check their rfc username and password. (sm59)
RFC Destinations are maintained correctly for Method Calls (bd97)
ALE Distribution Model is set up correctly (bd64)
    Change Pointers are activated globally
Change Pointers for Message Types are correct
    it should be
    Customer master    /SAPSLL/DEBMAS_SLL
    Vendor master     /SAPSLL/CREMAS_SLL
    Material master   /SAPSLL/MATMAS_SLL
    GTS client:-
Please make sure that there should be no change in Logical naming of the R/3 client (scc4)
RFC Destinations are maintained properly for RFC Calls. Please check their rfc username and password. (sm59)
RFC Destinations are maintained correctly for Method Calls (bd97)
Feeder system definition is correct in your Logical System Group (spro)
And also as Shruti mentioned. go to st22 and check if there is any abap short dump error. If you have any error there. Post it here...It may help to understand the problem more closely.
I hope that this may help...

  • How do I transfer old masters from a vault to a new machine

I have Aperture Masters on an old iMac, saved into a vault on an external hard disk . I bought a new iMac and want to bring the originals from my old machine onto the new machine.
Presumably, I can download them from the vault to the new machine, but I'm not sure how.
So far, I've managed to import versions onto the new machine but not masters. I'm terrified of doing the wrong thing and losing thousands of vital photos, so any help greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to the forum.
Tell us what it is you're doing to get the versions.
Was the old library managed or referenced? If you used a referenced library, your masters were not backed up to the vault.
If you used a managed library, restoring from a vault is straight forward. Just launch Aperture on the new iMac then choose
File>>Vault>>Restore Library then tell Aperture where the vault is. You might want to create a new blank library before you start.

  • Missing (most, but not all) masters from managed project

I just found that I have a one project in my library where most of the raw master files (NEF) are missing. The project contains 160 photos, but only 14 masters are present and these are randomly distributed in the project (not sequential files). My entire library is managed (not referenced). All photos were imported at one time.
All the edited versions appear in the browser with no problem, including the "full" version and the Quick Preview ("P"). Oddly, when I press "M" to view the master image, it displays correctly with no adjustments, but the message "Master Image not Found" appears where it would normally say "Master Image." I only noticed the masters were missing when I tried to export a version and got the follwing message:
"Versions with unavailable master files cannot be exported. The selected master image is either offline or not found. Please reconnect it and try again."
I searched in the library and vaults for original the filenames, but they do not exist in either location. If all the masters were missing, I would have concluded that I imported that project as a referenced file and later deleted the masters, but 14 of the 160 are still there.
    I have two questions:
First, does anyone have any idea how the master files could be deleted so I can avoid this in the future? I am beginning to think this is simply a corruption of the database (not reassuring).
Second, is there any way to recover the versions that clearly exist in the project so I can reimport these as masters? While viewing them in the browser, I can zoom in to the original resolution on both the master and the edited version, but can't perform any further edits to the image (although I can add metadata). I'd be happy to retrieve a JPEG version, even though it appears I have lost the original raw file.
By the way, I have already performed all three library repair options on Aperture launch (Repair Permissions, Repair Database and Rebuild Database).
    Thanks for any help,
    Dave

    From the OP's other thread:
I have three vaults (on three HDs) backing up one Aperture library (two onsite and one for offsite backup). Two of the vaults simultaneously became corrupted and I could no longer back up to them.
That plus the live library seems like 3 to me.
    You wrote:
With managed-Masters one can back up a broken Library to a dozen perfect drives and all that results is a dozen identically broken Libraries.
Which is why backing up without verify the backup is a meaningless exercise.  This goes for any backup method, How do you know your TM or CCC backup or simple copy of your masters is good?
If the Masters are backed up prior to Aperture the problem resolves (versions still lost).
And this is true also for managed libraries.
If (backed up) Referenced Masters are used and the Library becomes corrupt the problem resolves (versions still lost).
Not sure what you are trying to say here.
Proper use of Vaults also save Versions, but only prior to the time that the Library became corrupted - and we do not necessarily know the instant a Library becomes corrupt.
Proper use of vaults also saves masters if the library is managed. Ans see above for why we verify backups.
Look I agree that the masters need to be backed up in other than the vault (or TM or CCC or any one place). I use the Aperture  backup  dialog in the input window:
But once the masteres are backed-up referenced masters has no inherent saftey advantage over managed masters. In fact if all you do is backup before import and then place the masters on their own disk they are slightly less secure as they are only in two places.
In my operation I have my masters in three places, the import backup location the library and the vault I create from that library. In fact I have multiple vaults so in fact I have my masters in a minimum of 5 places. And its all fairly transparent.
So continue to sing the praise of referenced masters, for some and in some situations they are the way to go But from a security standpoint they have no advantage over managed masters.

  • A3 Reference masters from fat 32 to Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

I have A3 and all of my photos are organized as referenced masters on a Fat 32 formated external. The A3 library (where all my alterations are) is on my imac pictures folder on the imac HD. My Vault is on my current MAc OS extended (journaled) external. (I have two externals- 1 Mac formattd--1 fat 32)
A3 has multple problems when updating etc with Fat 32. I will be reformatting my current fat 32 to Mac OS or getting a new external and formatting it to MAc OS extended (journaled).
    Here is my question:
How do I move my current reference files from the fat 32 external into the new external formatted in Mac OS extended (journaled) and still have my A3 read off the reference files? As stated above my A3 library is on my imac HD in the picures folder. It is currently pulling the reference masters off my fat 32 formatted external.
My idea is to have the vault on one of my mac formatted externals and the reference files on another. I am just trying to get away from fat 32 as 100% of my mulitmudia stuff is mac based.
    thanks

Will going to: File>Relocate Masters do what you want. Allan

  • Can I air play the masters from my iMac to the TV?

I would like to see if it is possible to watch the masters live computer feeds through my ATV?

You can use a program like Carbon Copy Cloner.  It will clone your HD to the external.  The format is the same as your internal drive and you can boot from it using Option key at boot time.

  • Moving a lot of masters from an external drive to Aperture library

I have just treated myself to an iMac, 3.06 GHz with 1 TB Hard drive. I have some 2,000 pictures that I have done a lot of work on already on an external Firewire drive. I have copied the Aperture library to the hard drive on the new iMac - but, they are referencing them from the external drive. I would like to import all the 45 project containing all the photos masters into my Aperture library so that I have them all together.
What is the best way to do this? Do I have to do it with individual pictures - which will take forever! I cannot seem to get the option of Relocate Master. When I tried to import - from the external hard drive - I was not able to see any pictures to import. Was this because they were already in the library and I had checked 'Do not import duplicates"
Do I need to make a new Aperture Library?
Any advice would be most welcome!

  • Is it possible to delete a group of rejected masters from an Aperture proj?

When I try to do this by selecting edit >"Select All" or holding the shift key and selecting all the images, I can only get one rejected master to delete.
I am trying to delete 100 masters in one swoop. Can I do that?

    Yes,
    1) use the ratings feature to assign a reject rating to the images
    2) use the filter to view only rejected images - then do select all.
    3) go file->delete masters
    4) empty trash
    They should be gone now.
The next time you update the vault there will be a folder adjacent to the vault that will contain the rejected files that were deleted from the vault. If you like you can drag this folder to the trash.
This way you get about 4 chances to change your mind on a file deletion. It may seem excessive but it sure can come in handy and save your bacon.

  • Importing masters from iPhoto to Aperture 3 and saving as referenced files on external drive

I'm making the move from iPhoto to Aperture 3.I'm new to Aperture 3 and want o make sure I am importing and saving correctly. So far, I have imported my library of events from iphoto to Aperture 3. I understand that for the most part, it makes sense to house this library on an external drive as "referenced files" vs within Apeture as "managed files." I'm not clear on exactly how to accomplish this set-up. Is this something I should have set-up when doing the initial import or can I move the files now? Once this is done, when importing new files, how do I import to Aperture 3 but save on external drive?
Thanks in advance for your help!

    A fabulous answer:
In the olden days ( ) when hobbyists made their own telescopes from kits, everyone wanted a six-inch lens, and the kit makers shipped six-inch lens blanks.  Which the hobbyists used to learn lens grinding.  Which is arduous and requires skill.  Which the hobbyists didn't have until they'd ground that six-inch blank -- an expensive piece of high-quality material at the time -- into a lumpen flawed approximation of a good lens.  Then the hobbyists would contact the kit makers and ask for another lens-blank, so they could build their telescope.  At which point they would drop the project because the six-inch lens blank cost so much.  And much calumny was rained on the kit manufacturers.
Now the kit manufacturers wanted to promote a hobby, and make, in addition to telescope kits, money (not calumny), so they together and separately hit upon the idea of supplying the hobbyist with _two_ lens blanks: a four-inch blank, and a six inch blank.  Nobody wanted a four-inch telescope -- but that's not what the blank was for.  The instructions read (I've shortened this part) "Grind the four-inch blank into the most perfect lens you can.  Check it and re-check it.  Now throw it out.  You likely now have the skill to grind the six-inch blank into a useable lens."
    Thus endeth our fable.
The point, of course, is:  start small and gain skill before committing time and material to a task.  Port just a small sub-set of you photos into Aperture.  Experiment with it.  Try different workflows.  Think about how to best use the containers and organization tools Aperture provides.  Develop a long-term naming convention for files and Projects.  Work out a back-up strategy that is scalable and that you will stick with.  My specific recommendation for beginners is: don't worry about Referenced v. Managed at first.  Make all your Masters Managed.  When you have your four-inch Aperture Library all smooth and even, put the entire thing in the system trash -- and then you can start working on an Aperture Library fit for your photos -- one that will allow you to see far, and clear, for years.
    Good luck.

  • Deleting masters from network drive

I have my masters on a network drive for backup purposes, but when I try to delete them (CMD+backspace), although the references to them get deleted from the project, the originals are still there on the network. This isn't a permissions problem, because I can delete them through the Finder.
How can I get Aperture to actually delete masters on a network drive? Or is this an impossible dream?

I am thinking this is the way you have it set up:
    1) Masters go on Network drive
    2) You import masters
    3) You work with masters in Aperture
If so, the reason Aperture is not removing the masters on the network drive is that on import it copies the masters into the lirbary and then does not know about them after that. So from that sense your dream is impossible, because Aperture will not touch the masters outside of the Aperture library.

  • Can I transfer already manipulated photos with their masters from my macbook pro to a hard drive?

I have just returned from a vacation and I have about 2000 photos that I have already manipulated (cropped, lightened, darkened, etc.).  I have a small lacie hard drive I want to export the versions but still have the masters in the background.  It seems that I can only choose one way (masters or versions)... I exported the versions but when I transfered them to my IMAC (desktop), I could not ask for the original version (or master).
If anyone out there knows how I might achieve this task...  transferring exactly what I have on my laptop (with the masters in the background or in some cases if I have not manipulated the master, the masters) to my desk top, could you help advise me?
    Thank you in advance....  Joanna

    Joanna
Back everything up, make the 2000 images (Masters + Versions) a new Library, then merge the new Library jnto the desktop Library. [Edit: like Kirby described above, we cross-posted] The originals should already have been independently backed up before importing into Aperture on the laptop; if not, do that first.
    HTH
This is however a workaround and may be flaky at times. Aperture lacks a bombproof pro single-user laptop/desktop Apple-supported synch workflow. Badly needed and requested since v1. Here we are years later still dealing with workarounds, some flaky. Filemaker, Apple's other database app, has had this capability for decades.
Please, add your voice to those of us asking for a single-user laptop/desktop Apple-supported synch workflow by going to Aperture Feedback.
    Thanks!

  • EBP_GET_BACKEND_PRICES - Get prices of  Service masters from backend

    Hi guys,
Via report EBP_GET_BACKEND_PRICES one can get the prices of materials from SAP R/3 backend system.
If I use the same report for prices of service masters, it doesnt work. (error E50 BBP_VENR)
How can one get the prices of the services from the Backend system to SRM 5.0?
Is there another report or is there something wrong with the report Im working with?
Does one have to create a program to upload these prices in the COMMPRO1 for services?
    Thanks for any reply.

  • How do I import edited images and NOT masters from iphoto

I'm trialling aperture with a view to migrating from iphoto. I having difficulty importing images from iphoto in so much as whatever options I use to import aperture brings both the master photo and edited version from iphoto. I'd prefer to import only masters where no edited version exists AND where a photo has been edited within iphoto just the edited version (and all metadata, faces, keywords, places etc).
    Is this possible?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Then you don't want to import your iPhoto Library, what you want to do is export the files from iPhoto (File -> Original *Kind: Current*) to folders on the desktop and then import from there.
Note that using the Current setting will miss a lot of metadata. If you want that you'll need to set the *Kind to Jpeg* and check the boxes at "titles and descriptions" and "Places information". However, if you're unedited images are Raw you won’t get the masters, obviously.
