Match crashes iTunes on Windows.

I took up Match for the sole reason that I wanted DRM-free versions of music I bought years ago, but Match just crashes iTunes. I have a library of 24000 songs and although Match gets a long way through Step 3, it doesn't complete. When I restart iTunes I get a "iTunes detected a problem with Match, please sign out and back in again". When I sign out, it crashes again. Then on the 2nd restart it allows me to sign out and back in again...
iTunes 12.0.1.26, Windows 7 x64.
How do I report this properly to Apple? I can't see how to do so without a supported piece of hardware, which I don't have.

  • Itunes match crashes itunes in windows 8

Hi. Just signed up for iTunes Match and went to sync all of my items with it. Every attempt to sync my music with iTunes to the cloud results in an inevitable crash of iTunes. i have restarted the computer, restarted iTunes, reinstalled iTunes, but not luck completing the task. i make ti almost uploading all of my info and about to handle the artwork, etc. and iTunes crashes and shuts down.
I do not know how to fix this and would like to try to do so. If i cannot get the service to work, i would at least like the cost of the service refunded.

I have been fighting this for awhile.  At first I thought I was having a networking problem but what I have found is that iTunes cannot write to a Windows 8 or Server 2012 share.  It is also very flaky when installed directly on the machine. Here is what I have learned.
iTunes in a windows 7 virtual machine = Cannot write to server 2012 share
iTunes in a windows 8 virtual machine = Cannot write to server 2012 share and becomes unstable with a local library.
iTunes in server 2012 = instant crash
I understand Apple does not support iTunes 10.7 on windows 8, but this seems strange.  I would have assumed that installing iTunes on a windows 7 machine and targeting a library on a server 2012 share would work, but it crashes waiting for a network response anytime it tries to write to the library or download anything.
People seem to think iTunes 11 will work.  I guess we will find out.
BTW - When iTunes crashes it makes the machine and then server virtually unusable.  The only way to recover is to remove the network connection to the machine with iTunes.  This will bring both machines back and let you reboot normally.

  • ITunes Match crashes iTunes 12 on MacBook Pro

I have run into a few problems with iTunes Match since subscribing to the service but these problems usually solve (or at least partly solve) themselves. I downloaded iTunes 12 on my MacBook recently and have the latest version as of this post. When opening it for the first time it crashed within 15 minutes. This happened a few more times before I reinstalled the program but the crashes still continued. After searching through help pages to no avail, I noticed my iTunes Match was frozen on step 2 of syncing my library. This has happened several times in the past, and usually I just wait it out and eventually the service will start operating properly again after a few days. On a whim I considered this may be the problem, and sure enough after I turned off Match my iTunes stopped crashing. The problem is I am paying for a service that I now cannot use. I have recently added music to my library that I now cannot access on my phone through Match which is slightly frustrating. Is there any way to solve this compatibility issue?

    Hi,
Try holding option key whilst turning off match. Close iTunes then reopen. Turn on match and select add this computer. Does match complete its scan of your library?

  • Opening store crashes itunes on Windows 8.1

When I try to open iTunes store (or just wait for a few min as iTunes does it automatically once in a while) iTunes crashes without an error, just iTunes has stopped working.
    Things I have tried:
    The QTwin.dll thing
    Change the enviroment PATH
uninstall clean registry reboot install etc ofc
Delete AppData Roaming and Local iTunes folders
safe mode for both iTunes and Windows but no dice
    Move my Library
    delete ituneslibrary...
    create a fresh library
When I fire up itunes in another account it works just fine?
    Could someone please help

I have the exact same propblem.  Microsoft dialed in and changed something in the Environment settings, then I had a problem with duplicates thate weren't there and Apple helped with that without actually fixing the problem and now I have the crash problem just before the iTunes Store loads and now I can't sync anymore.
I have to go to the store on my iPhone which downloads it to iTunes but I can't move playlists to my iPhone anymore.
This is going to cost me another $20 for Apple phone support.  Wish I had an answer but no one seems to have one at Microsoft or Apple.

  • Gathering Genius information in iTunes 10.5 crashes iTunes in Windows 7.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes with no success.  All other iTunes functions work.  I can update Podcasts, purchase music and sync my iPhone but I can't run/update Genuis without crashing iTunes.  I get the message "iTunes has stopped working.  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available"  The progress bar gets to  "Gathering Information about your library" every time when it crashes.  I have the latest iTunes and iPhone 4s software installed. Anyone else having this problem? Or can offer a solution?

I just experienced an issue that I believe to be the same, but it occurred after I tried to move my iTunes library to a new computer. I did so by creating a new library, then adding the previous library's "iTunes Media" folder into the new library. Everything copied over just fine, but every time I try to enable Genius, it lets me sign in, agree to the license, and then it crashes iTunes with the same message you described above.
I didn't sync any devices, I do have Home Sharing enabled (so the PC is authorized), and I don't quite know what's up. Genius worked on the previous computer perfectly.
    The new PC's details:  Windows 7 (SP1) 64-bit, 2GB RAM, ~1.0 Mbps download connection, 1 Ghz Dual-core AMD processor.

I'm guessing this is an Apple glitch needing an Apple fix?

  • ITunes store crashes iTunes on Windows 8.1

I recently updated windows to windows 8.1, and since doing that whenever I go to the iTunes store, iTunes crashes. I have no problem playing my music and such, but whenever I go to the store it says the program has become unresponsive and must close.
I've reinstalled iTunes, made sure that everything is up to date, and the works. I'm guess I'm just wondering if anyone else had this problem after upgrade and what they did to fix it.
    Thanks!

    Just found the answer
Try adding C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support; to the system variables PATH
iTunes tries to use QTMovieWin.dll and that the file is in the directory
    Guide to add a PATH:
    Windows 8
Drag the Mouse pointer to the Right bottom corner of the screen
Click on the Search icon and type: Control Panel
Click on -> Control Panel -> System -> Advanced
Click on Environment Variables, under System Variables, find PATH, and click on it.
In the Edit windows, modify PATH by adding the location of the class to the value for PATH. If you do not have the item PATH, you may select to add a new variable and add PATH as the name and the location of the class as the value.
    Close the window.
    Windows 7
Select Computer from the Start menu
Choose System Properties from the context menu
Click Advanced system settings > Advanced tab
Click on Environment Variables, under System Variables, find PATH, and click on it.
In the Edit windows, modify PATH by adding the location of the class to the value for PATH. If you do not have the item PATH, you may select to add a new variable and add PATH as the name and the location of the class as the value.
    Windows XP
Start -> Control Panel -> System -> Advanced
Click on Environment Variables, under System Variables, find PATH, and click on it.
In the Edit windows, modify PATH by adding the location of the class to the value for PATH. If you do not have the item PATH, you may select to add a new variable and add PATH as the name and the location of the class as the value.
    Close the window.

  • ITunes Match crashing iTunes during step 2

iTunes keeps crashing during step 2 of the iTunes Match process.  Re-installed both iTunes and Yosemite with no luck.  Also, tried turning Itunes Match off and back on.  No Luck.  This all started after I updated to Yosemite.

    Hi,
First stop match process. Add iCloud status column to song view - go to menu > view > view options and tick box. This column will tell you what has been matched, uploaded, purchased, duplicate, ineligible and more importantly waiting. You should find this 'waiting' tracks - looks like 14. Delete them from library but don't move to trash. Now select 'update iTunes match' from store menu. If process completes try readding those tracks.

    Hello,
When I try to access iTunes store, then iTunes crashes with an unexpected error.
It's the latest version of iTunes.
I tryed to reinstall it, unlink the PC and link it with my apple account ... unsolved problem.
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards.

"You can add the PATH enviromental variable in Control Panel> System> Advanced System Settings.
    Alternatively, I was successful just copying the QTMovieWin.dll from c:\program files (x86)\common files\apple\apple application support\ INTO c:\program files (x86)/iTunes"

  • ITunes Match causing iTunes to crash

I have read many discussions around how to work around the Match causing iTunes to crash, but I cannot seem to get past it with the suggestions made in other discussion threads, hence I thought I might try a new one to focus on my specific case.
    I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, i7-2600, iTunes 11.0.4.4.
One option many suggest is to add to the View iCloud Status. Unfortunately, I do not have this option in my view menu! It goes from "Grouping" to "Kind". So, I can't see which songs are potentially causing the issue. I did delete songs with no time (less than 1 sec), but it was only a couple and did not make a difference I think.
It has crashed many, many times as I have attempted to go through the process and although I generally make some progress through the entire process, it still gets hung up and I have not successfully made it the entire way. I do have access to what has uploaded through my devices, but it is so frustrating - especially at the $25 per year cost for this.
The additional frustrating part is that when it does crash, you have to log off, log back on, then turn the whole darn thing back on to start it over once again! Mind you, it does go through the steps quicker, but regardless I am sitting here watching the thing go through step 1, step 2, then on to step 3, start uploading artwork and remaining songs, only to have it continue to crash with a couple thousand songs left to go.
Can anyone help with additional suggestions on what to do, how to show the iCloud status, etc.?

I did find how to add the iCloud status - which shows up as an option when Match is turned on - but I didn't try to access it while the Match was working previously. Unfortunately, it STILL crashes but I can at least see what is eligible or not until it does! [Why doesn't it still show up when Match is turned off? Just rhetorical questioning.]

  • Why does iTunes Match cause iTunes to crash ?

Why does iTunes Match cause iTunes to crash ?

My problem is similar.  It began right after I allowed an Adobe update to run.  (Adobe Flash Player version 10.0.45.2 is recorded in my Registry.) Now every single website I try to open triggers a window (see below) and repeats many times.
It makes no difference whether I "Allow" or not.  I think it runs this window for every flash object on that website.  It is occurring while I enter this post!
It makes using the Internet MOST challenging.  Surely this is causing major problems for everyone.
I have IE8 on Windows Vista.
Here's the text from the message:
"A website wants to open web content using this program on your computer.
This program will open outside of Protected Mode. Internet Explorer's Protected Mode helps protect your computer. If you do not trust this website, do not open this program.
    Name:  Adobe Flash Player
    Publisher: Adobe Systems Incorporated
(Checkbox) Do not show me the warning for this program again.
    buttons:  Allow         Do Not Allow"
Should I appeal to Microsoft or Adobe for a solution?  Is is possible to install the previous version?
    Thanks for any wisdom.

  • After latest update itunes match crashed with empy library

After being a little late i finally updated itunes to the latest version (on windows 8.1), now itunes keeps crashing when it connects to itunes match (from an empty library all music is in cloud)
Tried a lot of solutions here like:
hold shift and create new library
delete all itunes related files and re install
    disable firewall and anti virus
I cant look for corrupted files, since there arent any songs on this laptop.
Anyone has any idea what solution i might be missing? Problem starts seconds after syncing an empy library to itunes match
