Match & iPad Newbie

Hi
I'm a DJ and got an iPad as a backup should either of my laptops go down. I have a 64 gb library and many times the location may have poor to zero wireless signal. So I want to know best way to have my favorite songs on the iPad and have the other 80% in the cloud. How to you set up the correct synching?
Also the iTUNES app does not show the genres, bpm or comments. How do I view these? It is way more important to me than the album or the artwork?

As you cannot sync your iTunes library by cable or wifi whilst you have match turned on. With match turned on you will have access to all your music in the cloud but you will need to download your favourite songs in advance whilst you have a wifi connection.

Match needs iTunes music app to work. So I don't think that you would be able to use any other app that provides the info that you want.

DAP LUA match ipad device unique id to cert

Hi,
I am trying to configure a DAP policy using LUA to perform a check that a cert has not been moved. I cert has been configured to store the ipads device unique id in the subject cn field, which i have verified on the device. I have configured the following LUA statement but i am not getting a match:

Is this check posssible with ipads?

So in the end I had the same problem with this script. Never really fixed it but did workaround with that script by making local match_valueX for X number of certs you think folks will have in the their store. So most people won't have 64....but really you could cut and paste to any number you like.

Another option is to do a username to mapping from certificate script that simply
returns cert.subject.cn "/" cert.subject.ou (where the UDID was populated)
And the use a DAP to parse to verify anyconnect deviceuniqueid and aaa.cisco.username match (ie the UDID from anyconnect and what is in the cert)

Songs not playing correctly in playlist in iTunes Match - iPad

I turned on iTM on my ipad and iphone. It works great on my iphone. All of my playists show up on both devices. When I try and play music from a playist on my ipad, the song displayed is not the song that is playing. When it goes to the next song, it just sits there and doesn't play. I've downloaded all of the songs in this particular playlist. Not sure if other people are having the same issue.

This has happened several times to me since I originally posted. I found it happens when I add more music to a playlist that I already have on my iPad. Below is a fix.
1. Turn off itunes match on your device. This step is important.
2. Delete all of the music on your device. General / Usage / Music
3. Restart your device.
4. Turn iTunes Match on
5. Download the playlist you want.
I hope Apple fixes this soon. This fix is not ideal and takes a good bit of time, but it works for now.

ITunes Match, iPad, and smart playlist issues.

I have one particular smart playlist, that iTunes Match correctly syncs to my Macs and my iPhone, but no matter what I try, it shows as "no songs" on my iPad. Both iDevices are running iOS 7.0.3.

From your post I understand that you are trying to AirPlay from an iPad to multiple AirPlay outputs. This feature requires iTunes on a computer, and cannot be done on an iOS device. Since you have iTunes Match, your music should still be the same on your computer as your iPad.
Listen through multiple speakers
With AirPlay and iTunes 10 or later, you can listen to music through your computer speakers and multiple AirPlay outputs.
The maximum number of outputs is three to six. The number that works for you depends on your environment (such as building composition and local radio interference), distance to the outputs, and available network capacity relative to your other usage.

ITunes match - iPad & iPhone

I have activated itunes match, how do i get it so I have all my music on my ipad but not have it all on my iphone, in other words i just want a selection on my iphone, otherwise it will fill up very quickly as i have alot of music.

iTunes Match is all-or-nothing. In iTunes, the service scans the entire library then "matches" or "uploads" those tracks that are not "purchased." On the iOS devices the entire library is then available playback and downloading.
iTunes Match does NOT scan, match and upload a library on an iOS device.
If you want only a selection of your music on one device the easiest solution is to not use iTM on that device and continue to sync via USB. This is not the only solution, though.

Because the email account is a POP account. If a received message is not removed from the server after being downloaded by one email client regardless if deleted from the email client, the message will be downloaded as a new/unread message by another email client.
A POP account is from the early dark ages for email account access with an email client when the overwhelming majority had access to a single computer only. Although it is possible to access a POP account with more than one email client, a POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only.
No such problem with an IMAP account which is designed for this.

How to change appleid on laptop to match ipad and iphone?

My laptop has an old email address and the icloud promt came up to re-login for security purposes and the password that I use for apple store does not work although it works on my ipad and iphone. Therefore if i purchase something from apple store, it downloads on ipad and iphone but not on laptop because it won't accept the password that I use on the other two devices. How do I add photos to etsy using Dropbox from my iPad?

I am a brand new iPad user. I need to create etsy listings and thought I would be able to do that with an iPad using files from Dropbox. When I click on add photos nothing happens. Is this not possible? Should I have gotten a MacBook air instead?

If the website is using Flash to upload the photos, then no, the iPad won't be able to do the upload. You'll need to use a regular computer.

PDF and iPad sync support cancelled?

Has Apple discontinued support for syncing PDF's from iTunes on a desktop or laptop into iBooks in an iPad? I noticed that this was a long-standing issue, and I'm assuming it might be intentional by Apple or they would have likely fixed this already.
My PDF's do appear in my iPad books section of my desktop iTunes when synced with my iPad, but as the PDF's are nowhere to be found on my actual iPad, wouldn't it be better for Apple to stop showing that they are there (when they're clearly not)? I mean just kill it and be done with it...like Adobe Flash.
I'm using the latest iPad with all software up to date on both my iPad and Mac Pro.

Yes, they are there under Collections. I'm new to the iPad and assumed the PDF's would show up in on the iPad as they appear in iTunes on my Mac Pro; specifically, next to my books. Dumb *** iPad newbie here. Thanks for your response.

Photo Titles and Captions on Ipad Mini 3

I want to add titles and captions to my photos on my new Ipad Mini 3 - just like you can do in iPhoto on a mac desktop, though I understand this has been discontinued for the ipad mini. It seems quite absurd that I can't name and file my photos properly in the main photos app (beyond selecting to put into albums) - has anyone found a good solution, add-on or way around this? I'm an iPad newbie so the answer may be obvious! Thanks for your help guys.

Hi, Yes you can add captions,edit and add titles. Just go to the app store and type in the search box what you are looking for. Example Photo captions, photo collage or what ever you are looking for. You will then see what apps are available to buy. Have Fun!

IWeb Issue on iPad using Slideshow

I was at the Apple store on Sunday to "play" with an iPad and encountered a little "bug" that the Apple staff admitted was a problem. We were looking at a blog that I set up after a recent trip using one of the standard travel formats. I wanted to see how the photos looked on the iPad, and they were amazing. The resolution was beautiful, and the size was nice when looking at them individually. However, we could not view them using the Slideshow except in very small size no matter what we did. I think this is just a glitch, and I'm sure it will be fixed.
One thing I don't understand is why there doesn't appear to be an easy way to convey these types of problems to Apple online? The only way I can see to do it is if I actually owned an iPad, I could "speak to an expert." I suppose I could access an expert with another piece of hardware that I actually own and switch topics to an iPad, but that seems fairly indirect. Am I missing something?

No fix yet as such however,
One can fix this situation by duplicating the 'phoneshow.html' file in your photo album and calling it something like 'padshow.html' then resizing the width and height specifications of the slideshow in the new padshow.html file. All one needs to do then is add device detection such as:

in the head of the phoneshow.html file.
I found that using dimensions of width: 672px and
height: 756px worked best on the iPad in either portrait or landscape mode.

I keep getting an error message that says the ipad cannot be backed up

I am a new ipad user so perhaps that may be the issue but I have tried to research the message I keep receiving when I try to back up my ipad to the icloud.
The message states " This ipad cannot be backed up because there is not enough icloud storage available."
It says at the bottom display 4.9 GB available of 5.0GB on icloud.
When I go to Manage Storage and there is a list of all apps, etc listed I have turned almost all of them off and still I cannot back up to the icloud.
I am not sure what I am doing incorrectly. Any suggestions I have the new version of the ipad 64G ??

It doesn't sound like you are doing anything incorrectly from what I can see. Have you tried restarting the iPad and then see if you can backup?
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

New with iPad - unable to download apps! Help.

I am a iPAD newbie. I just created an apple ID and am trying to download my Comcast/Xfinity free app. However, I keep getting this message:
"This Apple ID has not yet been used with the iTunes store. Please review your account"
Not sure what I am supposed to do next in order to get moving and download apps???

If the OP has NOT used a dot-mac/me/icloud email address with the first ID, it can be changed to a different address, perhaps a temporary one set up for just this purpose. Then he can use that address with the second ID. Unfortunately, if he has assigned either the ID or the primary email address to dot-mac/me/icloud, Apple shouts "Gotcha" and he can never change again (that's when your recommendation is necessary).

Choose Authorize Computer from the Store menu in iTunes and enter your iTunes Store account information. Changing the hardware configuration may cause iTunes to think it's on a different computer.
