Match songs just do not play reliably in iTunes 11 on iMac
I have found since buying a new iMac that Match is just hopeless.
It sees all my music. However if I try and play anything that is not physically present on the HDD, it just gets a scrolling 'marching ants' bar in the top window and after a minute or so moves to the next song and repeats that.
Today I played a Playlist, all of which is in the Cloud. It ran through 43 tracks without playing a single one.
Annoyingly it is not a constant issue - sometimes it plays first go, sometimes skips a few and suddenly manages to play one and so on.
It almost feels as if Apple's servers have too many users trying to access them and the system is now overwhelmed. I am sure that probably is not so, but that is kind of what it feels like.
Does anyone have a possible cause or solution short of downloading the whole lot, which I do not really want to do.
In this case it does not rely on wifi at all - my Mac is connected direct to the ADSL router using Gigabit ethernet ports. Our ADSL is 12.9mbps which ought to be plenty fast enough for iTunes music.
I did not mind having it on disc when I had my Mac Pro as I had 4 discs in it. I don't want to fill this one up with stuff for the simple reason I can't replace it easily with a bigger one.
Here in NZ Thunderbolt stuff is rare and not cheap, but I guess a 1Tb Thunderbolt drive just for the music might be a way to go,

The songs appear to be random, and when I plug my iPod into the computer it is fixed. Sure enough, a monthish later, it happens again.
When my songs get cut off, they are stopped exactly half-way through. Apparently, the iPod thinks that is how long they are, because it plays the time that it shows (the total time only goes to helf of what it normally is).
This does not seem to be a matter of old software, as I am always up-to-date on iPod software, and this has been happening to me with version 1.4.1
I have not Restored my iPod, but apparently that will not help (according to the other posts).
I hope somebody can answer this (although I've posted it twice before with no luck, so...) -
Have 60 gig ipod classic will power up will go to songs but will not play any songs just sits there on 0 I can fast foreword but it still will not do a thing just sits at new spot in song and will not play , help please.

This is what I did to fix both the skipping songs problem and the iPod verifying forever & not able to restore problem (because of iTunes 9):
a) I used Disk Utility to reformat my iPod while in Disk Mode using the instructions here:

b) Do not unplug your iPod after reformatting (mine showed up as a firewire disk) - simply launch iTunes ( I went back to 8.2) and follow the Restore instructions here:

iPod is recognized, syncs and doesn't skip songs anymore after that miserable experience with iTunes 9!!! -
my music is not on my ipod touch anymore but one of my other software called copytrans has my music backup so i got all of my music and videos back but they will not play in copytrans itunes or just my ipod touch itself please please help there???????????
there has to be a completley FREE software out on the whole internet downloads to fix my ipod touch musics completely free no money involved

TS1362 I bought songs that do not play completely.
I recently purchased a couple songs that do not play completely. The songs stop midway through and also, when I try to progress the song through the slide bar on the player it just skip to the next song. Is there a way to fix it?
Delete the current copies and then download again (free) from your purchased history. If the problem persists contact iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history.

Songs not playing complete in itunes
I have songs in itunes that are complete but only a short piece of them play? Once transfered to my ipod, the short piece is all that plays as well?
HelpI was having a similar problem in that nothing would happen when I selected some of my songs to play. The file was in the itunes music folder, and all the info was correct but it would not play. Finally, I had to copy the songs which would not play to a DVD, remove the DVD from the drive and restart iTunes. Then when I selected the same songs to play I got the message that the "song was not available, did I want to locate it." I selected "yes", reinsterted the DVD and browsed to the song. After reimporting each of the songs I selected "Consolidate the library" to copy all the songs back into the itunes music folder.
This is definitely a time consuming process but at least now all my songs play. Also, I am backing up my library to a new set of DVD's because I want to be sure to have all of my music backed up.

The song preview does not play although I have a high speed internet access and the account on my computer is activated.
All purchased songs can be played without problems. Deactivating windows firewall and my virus scanner (GData) does not help.
Does anybody have an idea?Previews didn't work the first day Sarah Brightman's new album hit the Music Store. The next day, they worked. I think it's temporary glitch with the store from time to time.

Why do my songs just randomly stop playing?
Everytime I play a song and the song just stops randomly throughout and then iTunes just crashes... It's very annoying.
HA... welcome to the most advanced operating system in the World !!!.... same thing here.... I am hating mac's.... more because I made the stupid thing of buying a lot of apple products, iphone, ipods... now I am stucked and have invested a lot of cash on it.... 8gb ram, 500 hd... and a perfomance worst than a windows vista machine with 1 gb ram... I purchased a song from iTunes however it will not play. I get a message telling me I need to authorize my PC, when I go through the steps as directed I get a message saying this PC is already authorized however the song still will not play. Any help?
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items. -
Why when I click to play a sample of a song does it not play the full sample? It only plays about 10 seconds of it
Perhaps try resetting your iTunes Store Cache.
Go "Edit > Preferences". In the Advanced tab, click the "Reset cache" button shown in the following screenshot:
... and then click OK.
Restart your iTunes, and head back to the Store. Are you getting full previews now? -
My computer is authorized to play songs I have purchased, but songs still will not play. I tried to deauthorize and authorize again. I click on the song, I log in to authorize, Then it says "okay your computer is already authoized" So i click on the song, and it still doesn't play and keeps doing the same thing over and over again! I am getting so mad! Someone please help!

When I try to access my music library from AppleTV is keeps telling me to turn on ITunes Match. I am not supposed to need iTunes Match for Home Sharing. I tripled checked to ensure Home Sharing is turned on and it is. Can anyone offer a solution?
All of your computers content are available in the AppleTV section called "Computer". This is where you will find your music.

I have music on external G drive. Use I Tunes to organize and play music. Stream it to my TV and home stereo using MacBook and Apple TV. Just updated operating system to Mavericks. Now have two issues when playing music. 1) Many times album art displayed on TV will not match song playing, and 2) Music will just stop altogether sometimes. Any ideas ?
