Matching font for text animation
Hi everyone,
I have a training demo that has some typing in it and the typing is causing some ghost lines. I've found that if I convert the typing to text animation, the ghost lines go away - but I can't get the text animation to match exactly the font in the system.
I've verified 100% that the system is using Verdana 11 pt and now I'm trying to get my text animation to match the font so that all subsequent screens will look the same. I've considered pasting a screenshot of the new text on subsequent screens, but that poses too many other issues, so I'm posting here to ask for assistance with getting my text animation to look like the font the system uses.
In screenshot I've included, "Center of Excellence" text on top is from the system I'm working with and the "Center of Excellence" on bottom is my text animation.
Thanks, everyone. Any help would be very much appreciated!
Nick

Why can I no longer specify my preferred font for text which has a link attached to it?
I use TBird to send old school, professional looking business letters with logo image header and footers. Recently, I am unable to apply my preferred font to the website link part of my footer. This seems to have become an issue after one of the more recent upgrades of TBird. Its frustrating as I feel good graphic design requires uniformity in font style/type and size. This seems no longer possible. Now when I attach a hyperlink to my website address it changes my preferred font to something that looks like Arial and locks both font and size. It looks crappy.

<blockquote>
The only way I know its 12 pt. is that I copy into Word and check the font size there.
</blockquote>
Huge error number one, and probably cause of your problem in the first place.
<blockquote>
I would really like to see TBird use point size for fonts.
</blockquote>
Thunderbird uses HTML, HTML is expressed in pixels.
<blockquote>
In terms of not having Papyrus on you Linux box, I suppose that's you're choice.
</blockquote>
Licensing actually, not choice. The font is licensed and distributed by Microsoft. See http://www.microsoft.com/typography/fonts/font.aspx?FMID=1113 for a list of products your recipient can install to get the font.
<blockquote>
In my outgoing email subject line I always specify that my reply is best viewed in HTML, full screen.
</blockquote>
HTML is the default for almost all mail so that does appear to be overkill. Full screen. Personally I would be just as likely to not read mail that required full screen. Mail gets about half a screen here.
<blockquote>
Most systems will automatically substitute fonts for ones not on that system, at least in Apple and PC systems. </blockquote>
Papurus actually has a higher chance of being present on a Mac system than a windows one as Apple have distributed it with OSX since 2003.
<blockquote>
Anyway all of that is a little off topic. I wanted help with why TBird intermittently messes with font size and style when I cut and pasting email responses to people.
</blockquote>
As I said at the beginning. Do not use word. Word first converts to RTF then to HTML (All done internally) The resulting HTML is extremely complex and to put it bluntly pastes as a whole page from which Thunderbird must extract only the relevant parts. (inside the body tag) The end result is the program ends up confused about what goes where.
<blockquote>
And, if there is some reason why sometimes, again I stress sometimes, it will not let me use the font of my choice for text that has a hyperlink attached to it.
</blockquote>
If your pasting from Word the most obvious thing will be that the hyperlinked text will have it's own font tags another reason I suggest you use the program your in.
* If you want it on paper use a word processor. It is what they are designed for
* If you want it in email use the email program to actually write your mail.
* If you want to guarantee the look on delivery send PDF attachments. -

Hello expert,
I have a text image, will you please tell me how can I get what font is used by this image?
Many Thanks.What is a text image? Are you saying that you have an image that just so happens to be an image of some text?
If that's the case that question doesn't belong in this forum.
Asking CR to tell you what type face is in a picture is like asking it to tell you what breed of dog is in a picture. You'll need to compare the the text in the image to existing type samples.
Linotype probably has the largest type catalog on earth, so their website may be a place to start.

In Adobe Captivate 5.5 when I add a text animation, the font that I need is not listed in the drop down box. How do I get it to show up? That font is available when I create text captions, but not for text animations. This is a font that our institution uses for corporate branding.
Take a look at the information here:
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/captivate/cp/using/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d119e9581ded-7ff3.h tml
You will note that this article doesn't mention font embedding as being available with Text Animations (which are actually a type of widget in Cp5x). With Flash animations you can embed any fonts your SWF may need at runtime. There is no option in Text Animation widgets to do this. -
Superscripts in Text Animations?
Hi all,
I'm using Captivate 5 and trying to create a superscript (registered trademark symbol) in a text animation. I know for regular text boxes you can use the control-shift-"+" shortcut, but that doesn't seem to work for text animations. Does anyone know if it's possible to add these to text animations?
ThanksHi,
Currently it is not possible to add superscripts to Text Animations.
You can log an Enhancement Request using the below link:-

Looking for text animation presets beyond those within after fx but haven't really found anything.
Do you have any quick suggestions as to where to get additional text animation presets??
I want some super cool/sleek stuff...
An example =
I really like when Frank talks about the "3 Pillars" in the video below. You'll see the text animation identifying the 3 Pillars as displayed below =
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oJMt8ZrfPI&feature=player_detailpage#t=45s
Thanks so much - just wanted to check if anyone had any quick tips/insight.wanted to check if I could maybe pay you or anyone else a few bucks to shoot me the preset if it fits the feel of the example video. I'd like to maybe do one more text animation as well - that's shorter and to the point.
Let me know if possible.
Thanks Mylenium -
I have installed Captivate 6.0 64 bit version for Windows. I am providing some training on how to use the software for a client. In production I do not use Text Animations, however wanted to show this to the client. When I click the text animation button, use the placeholder for text animations or go to Insert, Text Animations, absolutely nothing happens. I would expect to get a panel opening with the options. Can somebody please explain what might cause this and how it can be fixed? Cheers, Ray.
Hi Anjaneai,
Thanks for your response. I tried these options and found that it didn't work. It really is very odd, but I appreciate your help anyway.
Cheers,Ray

Hi Ray, Can you check Three things -- 1) Do you happen to use dual monitors, if yes, can you plug that in to see, if the panel opens up there?2) Do it occur on even a new blank project? If it still does not work, Close down Captivate, go to --C:\Users\anjsriva\AppData\Local\Adobe -- rename the Adobe Captivate 6.0 x64 Folder present there. relaunch Captivate Thanks,Anjaneai

Typing Text Animation - How do I make it match the slide?
Hello Everyone,
I have been working on a multi-simulation project which includes a lot of typing. To date, I have managed to capture most of the typing in demonstration mode accurately. As anyone who has worked with captured typing knows, there's not much you can do with it if its wrong.
I've tried replacing the typing with a text animation, but I can't seem to get the text animation to match the font and appearance of the slide. It always seems blurry, or the sizing is off, visually it can't replace the captured typing. How can I get the text animation to look natural and match the slide?
Any suggestions are appreciated.
BrianGetting each other's text messages has nothing to do with your iCloud account. This is caused by using the same Apple ID for iMessage on both phones. To correct this one of you will need to go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the Apple ID at the top, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID. (You can continue to use the same ID for purchasing, and it does not need to be the same as the ID you use for iMessage.)
As pvonk said, if you're both syncing with the same iCloud account your synced data will be merged. You will need to set up a different iCloud account on one of the phones to correct this. To do this while preserving your data, first go to Settings>iCloud on the phone that will be changing and turn all data you are syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off. When prompted choose to keep the data on your iPhone. After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. (This will only delete the account from the phone and will not effect the other phone.) Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different ID, then turn syncing for your data (contacts, etc.) back to On. When prompted, choose Merge. This will upload the data to your new account. You will then need to go to icloud.com and sign into each account separately and delete the unwanted data (such as deleting his contacts from your phone and vice versa). -

Is there any way to change the default font for outgoing text-messages, in "Messages"?
I can change it for one conversation, but then it resets to the default, tiny font.
The preferences menu only lets me change the conversation font.
(OSX 10.10)Hi,
As you may remember there used to be a Messages pane to the Preferences where the Font and colour of the Balloons or background and the Font text colour could be changed.
And there was a Format Menu for character, word and Sentence changes in the current IM or iMessage.
Those have gone in Yosemite's version of Messages (Despite it retaining the designation of Messages 8 the same as Mavericks' version).
All that can be done now is set the size of the font and this has been moved to the General Section of the Preferences.
The Yosemite version has also been fixed to using the Balloons style of send and receiving any type of messages as well.
Changing the Font would involved editing the Balloon.transcript file.

How do I fix my animation presets for text that won't load? It seems to get locked in a loop when I click on one and I am forced to "fore close" Adobe bridge which After Effects uses to locate the presets. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
What is your exact workflow? The proper procedure is to select your text layer in AE, find the text preset you want to use, then drag or double click that preset to apply it to your project.
It also helps if we know your version of AE and OS down to the decimal point. You didn't give us much to go on. -
Setting Font for converting multiple text files into PDF using VB 6.0
Dear All,
Am converting multiple text files into PDF using VB6.0. Currently, am unable to control the font face and size for the generated files. Below is the procedure am using for each file;
Public Sub proc_convert_to_PDF(srcFilename As String, destFilename As String)
Dim p_AcroApp As CAcroApp
Dim p_VDoc As CAcroAVDoc
Dim p_DDoc As CAcroPDDoc
Dim IsOk As Boolean
Set p_AcroApp = CreateObject("AcroExch.App")
Set p_VDoc = CreateObject("AcroExch.AVDoc")
Call p_VDoc.Open(srcFilename, "")
Set p_VDoc = p_AcroApp.GetActiveDoc
If p_VDoc.IsValid Then
Set p_DDoc = p_VDoc.GetPDDoc
' Fill in pdf properties.
p_DDoc.SetInfo "Title", Format(Date, "dd-mm-yyy")
p_DDoc.SetInfo "Subject", srcFilename
If p_DDoc.Save(1 Or 4 Or 32, destFilename) <> True Then
MsgBox "Failed to save " & srcFilename
End If
p_DDoc.Close
End If
'Close the PDF
p_VDoc.Close True
p_AcroApp.Exit
'Clear Variables
Set p_DDoc = Nothing
Set p_VDoc = Nothing
Set p_AcroApp = Nothing
End Sub
What I need;
1) to be able to set the font face of the destination file ( destFilename)
2) to be able to set the font size of the destination file ( destFilename)
Am using Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Type Library
Kindly Help.
Thanks in advanceWe didn't say it doesn't work. We said it isn't supported.
There are a number of other ways to make a PDF. The one which would
give the most control is if your application directly printed to GDI,
controlling the font directly. This could print to Adobe PDF.
You could look for an application that gives control of font for
printing.
You could use a text-to-PostScript system and distill the result. You
could even look for a non-Adobe text-to-PDF.
Working in the unsupported and dangerous world you chose, the font
size for text conversion is set (and this is very bad design from
Adobe) in the settings for Create PDF > From Web Page. There is no API
to this.

I have an 800 page pdf document to index and so far I have a script that will search for a list of keywords. But the text has large sections of code in a different font, and I think we would like to generate an index of just code examples. Is there a way to search for text of a given font in applescript? Something like
set theSel to find text theText
if the font of theSel is "Times"
write to file, etc.Please do send a page, I might be able to spot where the font problem is coming from - but no guarantee Address is in my profile.
You asked about the script formatter. red_menace of this forum wrote the script I use. To use it, you copy the script that you want to format to the clipboard and run the formatter. This then places the marked-up text in the clipboard so that you can paste it into the forum page.
