Matching the sequence clip settings.

Ok so i have a Sony xdcam ex1 and i also have a panasonic dvx 100b, i am making a trailer with both of them in the same timeline and it matches the clip settings to whatever i put in to the timeline first, so the next clip i put in that doesn't match that settin looks real bad. Is there a way to have a timeline that supports both settings or no?
thanks

Start with a DV timeline, and drop the XDCAM footage from the EX1 into that timeline. Downconverting XDCAM 1080 HD to DV is a lot cleaner looking that upconverting DV to 1080 HD.
Oh, and never judge the quality of your footage on the computer monitor...only a broadcast quality monitor connected to the system.
#2 Blurry Playback
Shane's Stock Answer #2: Blurry playback
ONLY JUDGE THE QUALITY OF YOUR MATERIAL ON AN EXTERNAL NTSC MONITOR, OR AT LEAST A TV.
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=24787
Video playback requires large amounts of data and many computations. In order to maintain frame rate and be viewable at a normal size, only about one-fourth of the DV data is used in displaying the movie to the screen. However, the DV footage is still at full quality, and is best viewed thru a TV or NTSC monitor routed thru your camera or deck.
The canvas shows you what happens after the codec you are working with has been applied. The viewer shows you the material in its native format. There are a couple things you can do to make it look better:
1. Disable overlays on the canvas
2. Make sure you've rendered everything (no green bars at the top of the timeline
But still, your computer monitor will not show you a full quality image. For that you need an external monitor and a proper output device, such as those made by Canopus (ADVC 110, 300…only for DV), AJA, Black-Magic or Matrox.

  • RE: Help in changing the clip to match the sequence

    Hi All,
I'm a novice using premiere Pro CS6 and having problems with something so hoping someone can advise.
Basically I've imported some clips into the project folder. the first clip i imported into the timeline gave me a pop up saying this clip does not match the sequence settings. i had obviously chosen the wrong settings but premiere recognised the mistake and prompted me. Now I opted to change the sequence setting and the clip worked and fitted fully in the program panel when played on there.
however when I choose another clip and drag it into the timeline, the clip has black sides and appears to be smaller in the program panel e.e. it is not fully fitted even tho the drop down is on 'fit' . I had no pop up asking me to change the clip to match sequence setting for this either.
How else do I match this clip to the sequence if no pop up come up to change it?
its prob well simple - but I cant work it out?? please help

    Hey tstormSierra,
    thanks for your ply.
The problem is that the clip I first put on the timeline was from someone who filmed a boring long clip of a karate fight, so there were no camera angles or view points to play around with. So i basically made edits by making cuts in the clip andplaying around using scale and positioning to give the impression of other camera angles.
Anyhow I cant delete that and put in the other clip as Ive worked hard on it already. I just wondered if there was a manual way of matching the sequence settings, cause all the clips are from the same camera and settings.
In regards to scaling the frame size - i did this and it looked fine, but when I came to use the stabilizer in came up with clip needs to match the sequence settings or somethign like that. This is where I'm struggling cause I cant work out how to to match it.

  • Has anyone experienced this problem: I am editing in FCP 7.0.3 on a Mac 10.6.8 - I have a clip in the browser that is full frame and matched the other clips but when I drop it in the time line it becomes a fully zoomed in version of itself

has anyone experienced this problem: I am editing in FCP 7.0.3 on a Mac 10.6.8 - I have a clip in the browser that is full frame and fine and it matches the other clips in my bins but when I drop it into the time line it becomes a fully zoomed in version of itself and I can only see a small portion of the image.  What's going on?  I've noticed this has happened in the past randomly with other clips and it's driving me cray cray!  Any help appreciated greatly and thanks in advance for taking the time

In the FCP Browser, click on the source clip that is showing up sized incorrectly to select it. Once it is selected, type Command + 9 to see the item properties for the clip. Either report those properties here, or take a screen shot of the item properties and post the screen shot here.
Next, click anywhere in your sequence timeline and then type Command + 0 {zero} to see your sequence settings. Either report those settings or take a screen shot of the sequence settings and post that screen shot here.

  • Does Premiere re-render video clips if they match the sequence settings?

I am new to using Premiere Pro CS5.5 and also a consumer lacking a detailed understanding of digital video inner workings, so excuse me if my question is obvious.   I have some older video clips, roughly 15-30 minutes in length.  I would like to combine these into one file - without any loss of quality if possible.    So for example I imported two clips of the same format into PP.   I created a new sequence by dragging one of the clips to the magic button.  Then I drug the second clip and placed it right after the first on the same sequence.   I made no other changes - no transitions, titles, effects etc.   Then I exported the sequence where I selected use the same settings as the sequence.
Two questions: 1) will PP re-encode/re-render the video such that I lose quality?     2) if you were simply trying to combine two or three video clips / files into one, would you go about it as I did here or would you do something different?
Let me know if you need more information and thanks.

The clips were orginally on miniDV tape, captured with Ulead/Corel VideoStudio in 2001, then output into another format.  I found a shareware utility that reported "MPEG2" as the codec.   So I would assume then as you noted these would be re-encoded?   Would you expect a loss of quality that would be noticeable?   Combing these clips isn't required, just some housekeeping.   What would you do here?   Thanks for the help.
Here is the output from right clicking on properties of one of the clips:
    File Path: ***.mpg
    Type: MPEG Movie
    File Size: 427.8 MB
    Image Size: 720 x 480
    Frame Rate: 29.97
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - compressed - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
    Total Duration: 00:12:50:21
Average Data Rate: 567 KB / second
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 0.9091

  • Why does my media want to export as a MXF when I match the sequence settings?

I've made films with Premiere CC before and have never had this problem, I go to export I click the box to match my sequence settings and it will export as a MPEG, and now, it wants to export as a MXF. My computer doesn't recognize MXF files. Is there any reason why this may be happening?

Thanks so much you guys. So I don't know what was up with my computer or my software, but, it used to be that I had to check the match sequence settings to get my project to export with the same video dimensions. But, I have now fixed it! Thanks so much! Now I have better quality and I'm doing it right

  • Sequence/Clip Settings and Rendering

Greetings from a new Final Cut user,
Upon placing a new QT movie into my sequence I get the "Attention - This clip does not match....Change sequence settings to match the clip settings ?" message. When I click "Yes" and the clip is placed in the sequence timeline I get a red bar that tells me the clip needs to be rendered. Why is this? If I click "Yes" to change the sequence settings to match the clip settings then why does the clip need to be rendered?
If I click "No" to not change the sequence settings to match the clip settings I get a green bar above the clip and the clip plays back fine without the "Unrendered" text covering the sequence monitor.
I have also rendered a QT movie from Motion with the same settings as my sequence and upon placing this clip into my sequence I get the same message as above with the same results when I click "Yes" or "No".
Can someone please explain to me what's going on? Thanks in advance for any help.
    Jeff

    Then that isn't normal.
#44: FCP acting weird - Trash Prefs
Shane's Stock Answer #44: FCP acting weird or unusual. Just not like is normally should
If the program was working fine, and now isn't, or just isn't working the way it should, the first things to do are:
    1) Trash your FCP preferences. Download the Preference Manager from Digital Rebellion: http://www.digitalrebellion.com/pref_man.htm
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/trashing_fcpprefs.html
    2) Open the Disk Utility and Repair Permissions.
    3) Shut down for 10 min. Go for a quick walk around the block and get SOME exercise today. Come back, turn on the computer and see how things are.
    4) (optional) Do the Hokey Pokey and turn your self about. Results may vary.

  • The parameters specified by the step do not match the sequence parameters

In TestStand 4.0, is it possible to search for all step/sequence parameter errors prior to running the sequence?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi,
    That sounds interesting.
I tried a small example which calls a Sequence which passes two paramaters, one number and one string. I then linked these two locals except I specified them as one string and one number.  I changed the load setting of the SequenceCall Step to Preload when sequencefile opened. I saved and closed the file.
When I opened the file, no warning or error was flagged. When the Sequence was run it errored on the call to the step with "Type of argument expression 'Locals.arg1' is incompatible with parameter 'Arg1'. Expected Number, found String".
It would be quite envolved to a find all the sequences in a file, get it's arguments, get the Expression, check if its not a constant and if not get the type of the variable in the expression and check it against argument parmater type. Repeat this for all parameter arguments. Repeat this for all sequences.
Then how do you report an errors. How do you handle SequenceCalls that call sequences contained in different sequencefiles.
You can find the arguments in the Step.TS.SData.ActualArgs.

  • Having Issues Keeping My Footage from matching the Sequence

    Hi Everyone,
I have a weird question. I am trying to bring my 1920x1080 footage into a 1080x1440 custom sequence. Premiere keeps preserving my footage at 100% but is scaling the footage down to fit the 1080 width. I want the wrong aspect ratio and I do not want Premiere to scale down my footage. This happens as well when you bring a 1920x1080 footage into a 1280x720 sequence. It scales down the footage. I want to preserve the large aspect ratio and move it around in the program window. does anyone know haw to prevent this. The only way I have found is to bring a sequence into a sequence and preserve the existing settings, but then I can not see my wave forms in the audio.
I need a preserved 1920x1080 footage to fit "oversized" in a 1080x1440 timeline. I do not want Premiere to assume I want it perfectly fitted within it, leaving black bars on the top and bottom.  HELP!
    Thanks!

    Are you sure?
I have never seen PPRO automatically scale source footage to match sequence setting ...unless one has checked the options to do so.

  • How to configure the Easy Setup to match the sequence type for playback

Plesae provide some suggestion for how to configure the Easy Setup in FCP 6.05.
    *Uncompressed HD 8-bit (1920 x 1080p30)video streams
    e.g:
    1. Choose Final Cut Pro > Easy Setup.
    2. Choose ?? from the Format pop-up menu
    3. Choose “all rates” from the Rate pop-up menu.
    4. Click the USE pop-up menu, choose which format?
    Also how about Uncompressed SD 8-bit (720 x 480p30) video streams ?
    Thanks,

    Thanks for the advice.
In the project, I created two sequences.
Import all my HD 8-bit clips into sequence 1, and say yes to mach the format
and import all my SD 8-bit clips into sequence 2 and say yes.
In Sequence-> setting-> I verified the configuration as following:
However, that is "Load sequence preset" button, I am not sure what is that for and also do I need to go to Final cut pro -> easy setup to configure the format again?
I just want to playback all my HD clips to make sure no dropped frame and
then playback my SD clips sequence to make sure the performace are OK.
Here are the format for HD clips:
    HD 1920x1080 HDTV 1080i (16:9); upper; uncompress 4:2:2.
Here are the format for HD clips:
    SD 720x480 NTSSC DV (3:2), NTSC-CCIR601, lower , uncmpress 8-bit 4:2:2.

  • Match sequence settings to clip settings should avoid rendering, right?

I drag my media to my timeline and that helpful pop-up stops and asks to match the sequence settings to the clip settings. I say yes, and because the two now match perfectly, this should eliminate the need to render --- right??
I've tried to match the squence before dropping in my media, but can't seem to find the right settings myself.
I can't waste time rendering. Please, any help on this is greatly appreciated!

    Update:
I downloaded the Pavtube HD Video Converter App (it costs $35, but it seems worth it). It has a setting menu specefic to mediums; one for Finalcut Pro that includes an option for Apple ProRes. I used the ProRes HQ setting and left the size as original (remember I captured in 4:3). When I put into Finalcut, however, I get a message that says it is not optimized for Finalcut and, once again, I have a rendering issue. However, if I go back to Pavtube and export again, this time changing the ProRes options to resize at 1920x1080, I can import into Finalcut with no problem and no rendering. The catch is that in Finalcut, my video is now stretched to fit widescreen and unfortunately the 1920x1080 is the only size I've been able to export as and then import into FCP without any problems. This is resolved when I export using quicktime convesion and set the size back to 4:3 (shown in screen shot), but brings up another problem - squished text.
Just now seeing other posts to my questions...I will try those suggestions. Thank you!

  • The sequence does not match with the original clip

What I have learned about how to effectively match the sequence with original clip is by dragging the imported clip into the new item button, or right click the clip and click on "New Sequence from Clip" button. I did it exactly, however, like you can see in the image I attached, there is a black space under the clip on the sequence and the general quality of video and audio are worse than the original. Why is this happening? Please help.

Is this what you are asking about?

  • Sequence not conforming to clip settings

I am struggling trying to set up a sequence for some Sony Ex1 footage. We shot at 720p 60f/s. Using XDcam transfer we now have Quicktime movs with the following details...
dimensions: 1280 x 720, codecs: XDCAM EX 720p25 (35Mb/s VBR) Integer (Big Endian) Timecode, Original format: MPEG HD
Is this still a delivery format? When I cant seem to match the sequence to these clips. I have the conform sequence option set to 'ask' but I am not given the option. Am I better off converting to prores HQ or am I missing something blindingly obvious?
    any help appreciated
    cheers Jimmy

It won't ask to change the sequence settings to a delivery format. It will only change them to an editing format. If you want to edit this footage, you'll have to log and transfer the MPEG HD footage to a FCP friendly format.

  • CS6 Match Frame Problem, Sequence Clip vs Source Clip issue

    Hey folks.
So, I'm on Windows 7, Premiere Pro CS6.
I've found an issue with Match Frame (Control F), it seems to be acting inconsistently.  Sometimes when I double click on a clip in my sequence and hit F it brings up the sequence clip, other times it brings up the source clip (in the Source Monitor)
The problem here is that I'm placing markers on my sequence clips to line them up based on visual cues in the scene.  This work fine for a while, but then, seemingly randomly, I'll double click a sequence clip and when I hit F it brings up the source clip, not the sequence clip.  Now when I place markers they do not show up in the sequence because I'm marking the source clip not the sequence clip.
Anyone else encounter this?  If needed I can try to capture video of this happening.
    Thanks all,
    ~ James

Does this mean that it isn't possible to "Reviel in project", or otherwise locate a merged clip in the project window?
So far "Reveal in project", and "match frame", point to the same subfile of a merged clip... not very useful. What other options are there?
... A sad workaround is to type in the name of the merged file in the search frame at the top of the Project pain.
I guess this one for the feature request list.

  • How can I match the colors of two different video clips?

I have two video clips. One is in black and white and the other in color. Is there a way that I can match the volor clip to the black and white one?

    Hi Steve
I downloaded a video that is in black and white (pitbull's feel the moment). I want to superimpose videos and pictures so that it looks like my clips were the ones used originally. i was messing around with the hue (from my videos) and managed to get it similar. But is there a way to automatically match the tones and hues of one video so that it can be used on the other?

  • Audio level in timeline does not match the source's clips audio level

When I playback the sequence the audio level increases a considerable amount (6 to 8 Decibels)
when compared to the audio of the source clip in the bin and the source quicktime located in the scratch folder.
As a result I'm led to believe the issue is local to the sequence. When I open the sequence clip in the viewer the audio has not been increased using the level slider (it displays 0 DB in the entry box). I'm editing a 1 1/2 hour sequence and the problems exists throughout the entire timeline. Can anybody recommend any solutions.
