Matchmove tracking points go out of shot.

Hi all, im new here. Im trying to create the effect of wall posters coming to life as they move across the shot. I have matchmoved the footage onto the layer below which works fine when all tracking points are in the shot - the problem comes when i get to the edges of the shot and the points im tracking are no longer visable - this causes the footage to distort.
So i'm wondering if anyone can advise me on how i can prevent things from being distorted when a tracking point goes out of shot?
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Regards,

When you do your motion track, you could track the points up to the frame where those points leave the shot, then pick another point that is in-frame and moving in the same way and continue the motion track but check the "offset track" button.
Otherwise, I think the only way to do it is to manually keyframe

  • Motion track track point moving out of picture

I open a door, and inside I want to put an image. When opening the door I want the image inside to reveal as I open the door. I tried to motion track the door opening so I could get the mask to follow the edge of the door. Unfortunately the door moves out of the picture, leaving the motion tracking insufficient. I tried moving the mask manually, but that didn't work at all. The mask couldn't follow the movement of the door. Also the door is white, so I don't have much contrast to point the tracker on.
     Any suggestions?

    Hi
Without seeing your footage it is hard to comment, but hey I will anyway! Are you trying to completely replace what would be behind the door? i.e. the doorway now looks out onto a completely different scene? I'd go to the end of the shot, where the door is clear and create/add a simple four point mask that fits the doorway. If you have your new image in the layer below, you should now see this through the open doorway. Now reframe the mask points and work backwards through the footage, if you're lucky you might only have to move one edge of the mask as the door closes ( presuming the door has a straight edge!). You might need to go back and fix the top and bottom of the mask depending on the angle the footage was shot at.
Sometimes its quicker and easier to animate these things by hand rather than rely on tracking.

  • Modify / Add Track Points (four corners option)

    Hi everyone.
I have an issue I've tried to find here but with no success...
    - I have a shot where I want to overlay and track a stamp image over a door opening.
    - To do that I've chosen the Match Move's Four Corner option (the back layer moves and changes perspective).
    - When I place it correctly over the door, the four corners are in frame but, as the door opens, some corners get out of frame resulting in Tracking Error.
    - The solution I was imagining would be to place the four corners using a smaller area.
    - The problem I encounter is that as I move the corners, it affects the size / perspective of the image....!
Is there a way to change the Track Corner Points without affecting the stamp image before performing the analyzing?
    Thanks

Well... Sorry about my ignorance if I'm seeing it wrong but, my idea was:
    - I want to change the all glass on that door. For that I create another picture to overlay the door.
    - The size of the picture is, of-course, the size of the glass.
    - When the door opens, just part of that glass gets out of frame. In-frame there's still a lot of glass area and reference points to track if I use a smaller shape.
    My problems are:
    1st.
I don't manage to move the tracking points of the overlay picture without transforming my picture. They are automatically attached to the size of the picture's frame.
    2nd.
I don't know how to replicate a shape's behavior and applying it to my overlay picture.
    3rd
I don't know what is going to be the behavior of the rest part of my overlay picture's that exceeds the shape's size... I'd expect it to assume an estimated extension of the shape's behavior.... if you understand what I mean....!
Again, sorry if I don't make myself understood...

  • Straightening tracking points?

    Hello everyone,
I have a leaf that I would like to add into the foreground of a moving dolly shot. The leaf and the shot of the boy (see attached images) were shot on a motion control rig, but unfortunately, there are still bumps in the images keeping them from lining up perfectly.
Stabilizing the shot of the boy was easy, but because the leaf is its own entitie, I have no relative points to track to. As you can see from the tracker points on the leaf, there's a wobble up and down that is keeping the leaf from matching the boy shot, and was wondering if there was any way to take the tracking points I've aqcuired and straighten them out - getting rid of this wobble.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

You could try a .smooth() expression, but to be honest, I wouldn't bother. Simply hand animate it with a handful of keyframes.

  • How do I get more motion tracking points in analyzation?

    Hi Everyone,
I am having the problem that when I try  to stabilize footage in AF3, the analyzation points that are created are at least half as much as see in tutorials done with the same footage online. Why is that? How can I create more analyzation points? When I say analyzation points they come in the form form of generated anchor points in the timeline.
    -Digital_Toronto
The below is an example where I noticed I wasn't getting the same amount of analyzation points, as the tutorial in After Effects I tried to replicate below:
    http://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/stabilize_shaky_footage/

    Hi Aldolfo,
Thanks for the response. Actually what I did is I went through Andrew tutorial myself to
see if I could do it exactly as he did. What I found in tracking the same footage used
in the tutorial, I got maybe 1/3 of the tracking points. Somehow I don't think this is
normal and that's why I wondering how I can increase the track points or find out
    what's wrong.

  • How to disable IBM Thinkpad 600X's tracking point ?!

    To whom it may concern:
How are you? This is Daniel. I have an IBM Thinkpad 600X notebook. The tracking point already doesn't work. I want to disable it and use an external mouse. Could you please give me a favor how to solve this problem? According to IBM manual, "Holding F1 and turn on the system, then modify its BIOS !!!". I already try serval times, but this method doesn't work, the screen always show me "ERROR CODE 8611" at first, and then automatically enter into Windows XP system. NEVER SHOW ME ITS BIOS MANUAL !!!. I think perhaps there has an another HOTKEY to wake up the BIOS. I am looking forward to your help. Have a good day.
    With best regards,
    Daniel

Yes, it can be hard to gain access to the BIOS when the Trackpoint error (8611) occurs. About the best thing I can suggest, short of removing the keyboard, would be to hold down the F1 key, while at the same time applying constant pressure on the Trackpoint in one direction (up, down, left or right) before you turn the laptop on. Continue to hold the F1 key and applying pressure on the Trackpoint while the system boots. You should eventually see the Easy-Setup (BIOS) menu. Then you can release the key and Trackpoint. Note that you may not be able to select the BIOS menu options with the Trackpoint; use the arrow key instead. When the selected option is highlighted, press the Enter key.
To (semi-)permanently disable the Trackpoint you need to access the "Config" menu and then press the CTRL-D key. That will bring up a hexadecimal display, "System Configuration Edit Utility". You then need to change the value in the third row and first column (i.e., offset 200) from the "02" that is already there to "01". Again, use the arrow keys to move the cursor to that location and then type in 01. Once that's done, press the F2 key (Save) and the screen will flash and the cursor will return to the 000 location. Then press the Escape key twice. That will put you back to the main BIOS display. Use the arrow keys and select the Restart option and confirm it.
The Trackpoint should stay disabled until you reset the BIOS. That's what I mean by semi-permanently. If for any reason you need to re-enable the Trackpoint at a later date, change the "01" back to "02" or simply choose the Initialize option in the BIOS Config menu.

  • 3D camera track points not displaying correctly

Just bought a new iMac and am re-installing all of my programs including Creative Cloud programs. I am having an issue with After Effects not displaying all the track points when I use the 3D camera tracker. I get maybe 6-10 points displaying but that is it. They are there because I can still create nulls, solids, shadow catchers, etc... but the points themselves will not display. I have used the camera tracker in the past with no problems at all. Any idea why this would be going on? Here are my iMac specs...

Try some of your older footage. Some footage produces very few tracking points, other footage produces a lot. Sometimes you need to scale up the size of the track points to see more of them. A screen shot would help us diagnose your problems.

  • AE CC 2014 Camera Tracker Not Allowing Me To Create Nulls From Track Points

    After Effects CC 2014
    iMac OS X Version 10.9.5
    Pro: 3.2 CHz IC i5
    32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB
I have been trying to use AE's camera tracker for two days and while it will track, show the track points, and even create a camera... It will not allow me to right click the track points to create nulls and it will not show any of the plain targets. My work around was to upload my footage (Red Epic footage) to the older AE CC, re set up all my ins and outs, track the footage, save it, and open it up back in AE CC 2014. Then it allows me to create track points and such.
Great that I found a work around but takes so much time. Please help me if you can. Thanks!
    Chris

There is obviously some bug regards of resolution of tracked footage, because if you precompose e.g. Epic 5K footage to HD comp and camera 3D track this comp then all works OK (points are displayable, selectable and camera is "addable"(?)).
But I don't know "trigger" resolution value, when it works, and when not.

  • Wishlist item for future models: Please add the track point (red button) on keyboard

    Dear Lenovo,
We purchased the S10 Ideapad for travel and it is wonderful for this.  I am enrolled in online courses so I have to always be tethered to a computer with internet access.  The Ideapad is fantastic for this use.
One feature that I miss from my R62 Thinkpad is the red button in the keyboard.  By adding this feature to future Ideapads, it would be the best of both worlds!  Increased functionality and portability - which is why laptops are becoming the standard for business and school travel.  If the smaller models had this feature it would truly be a kick-butt machine, in my opinion.
Please pass this suggestion on to the developement department for consideration.  I like this model very much (in fact I am writing on it now), but not having the track point is like not having coffee in the morning.  It's a very rude awakening.
Best wishes to Lenovo for 2009!
    Lesa Hall

I like it as well, liked it on my Toshiba Portege 3600 back in 1995 even better, but do not get your hopes up-the Trackpoint (tm) is the jewel of the Lenovo crown and the price point of the keyboard assembly + the redesign involved, basically rules it out for a machine in the sub $700 range.

  • Use Track Points with multiple objects

I am trying to use the behaviour 'Track Points' to move the circles on the right with the glove, yes it might not look like it but that is a glove. The text and lines on the left are all static.
I have figured out how to move the right end of the "horisontal" line so that it does what I want (using 'Analyze Motion'). But how do I get the two circles and the end of the line to move as one? There is no pathfinder and 'Track Points' wont apply to a group.
I should probably point out that I am a complete noob with only a couple of hours on 'Motion 5'.
    Thanks in advance!

To the circle(s) add a Behaviors > Motion Tracking > Match Move. Drag the Analyze Motion behavior into the source well. For the Anchor and Rotation-Scale parameters, set the Track # of the point you want to follow. You might need to set the Transform to Attach to Source. You will probably also have to drag the position of the circle over the first track point to align it.

  • Stabilizing horizon without usable track points

I shot some timelapse sequence on a cruise ship, some of the sequences are just simply the sky and horizon.

    http://ssontech.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=4624&sid=c1ab93e031205bf1d6e8495c8feaa835
    and the youtube tutorial, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ACKLf_Nk0E
but the thing is I'm very new to after effect, not sure how to do this in after effect, once I open wrap stablizer, the layer with two vertical lines will not show up in wrap stablizer.
    can help me on this?
    thank you.

You completely misunderstand. You don't use the Warp Stabilizer, you use the conventional 2D tracker and do a rotation track or use the 3D camera tracker - the latter of which may simply not work in AE because unlike in SynthEyes you can't manually place tracking points to enforce tracking specific features. And your lines probably don't show up because you simply drew guides or straight mask paths, which by themselves are non-rendering. You have to make them visible using a stroke effect or instead draw your lines with something like the Beam effect. Pre-composing or even pre-rendering may be necessary to get proper tracking results.

  • How do you add the motion path of a tracking point to a separate clone stamp?

How do you add the motion path of a tracking point to a clone stamp without the clone stamp assuming the same initial/continuous positions of the tracking point?
Is there a way to keep the clone stamp's initial position and then add the path onto it?
I am using the clone stamp to remove unwanted duct tape that was used to keep lights on a wall.

I have spent two days trying to find a solution to this exact same problem. I have seen some overly complex solutions that probably work but trying to figure out the explanations is like trying to understand someone describe drag coefficients of rotary wing aircraft. While I am sure they work, they are way above my comprehension. I wanted an intuitive and straight forward solution for something that shouldn't require some arcane technique to fix.
    What I did:
    1) I used the Clone Stamp tool to paint over the spot on the wall I wanted to remove.
    2) picked a more easily discernible point of reference for Tracking. In my case, I used a poster on the wall.
    3) As per the instructions here, https://www.video2brain.com/en/lessons/removing-an-object-with-clone-stamp, I pasted the Attach Point data from the Tracker into Clone -> Transform - > Position
However, that didn't work for me as the object I was painting was not the object I was tracking. The solution from the video was simply moving my cloned spot to the tracked object instead of leaving it where I wanted it. So...
    4)  I then manually adjusted the Anchor Point of the Clone back to the original spot I wanted to cover.
I played footage and the cloned region successfully moved with the spot I was covering.
This is what I was able to figure out. I'm not an advanced user. I only use After Effects every couple of months when I need to fix minor things in footage, so I've only learned to use what techniques I need for the job at hand. No doubt, experienced users may shake their heads at my simplistic fix. I'm sure my technique would be wholly inadequate for situations far more complex than fixing spots on a gray wall, which is why my eyeballs cross when reading suggestions that seem way more involved than one would expect for something as seemingly minor as this. It's just a spot! It should be super easy to remove, right? Well, that's what I was looking for and that's what I came up with. I hope it helps.

  • Track point scroll lag

    X61s Vista Business.
When I scroll through large pages (such as newspapers) in Internet Explorer there is a terrible lag in the scrolling. My track point scroll is set at standard scroll mode and thats the way I like it, what is irritating is that changing it to even scroll mode fixes the problem. I do not want to use the even scroll mode, is there a fix for the lag in standard scroll mode? Has anyone had similar problems?
    Erik

Compare what's going on in Activity monitor (Applications > Utilities > Activity.monitor.app) when you are getting the delay and when you scroll withoud delay with a different input window selected.
Do the same with your mac that doesn't have the problem, and see if there's any obvious differences. Post back here any processes that are consuming a lot of CPU time, and the page in/outs/swaps.

  • Keeping object between tracking points

    Hi everybody,
i hope someone here might be able to help me out. I am working on a greenscreen project right now and i am stuck because i need to place a picture not on an tracking point but right between 2 tracking points and scale with the distance between them.
Every time i do the tracking the picture scales perfectly, but moves closer to one or the other tracking point.
Is there any way how to keep the picture centered between the tracking points even if the tracking points are at different heights?
    Thanks for help
    Lobo

Not really. You'd only be replacing one workaround with another and in the end spend too much time for nothing. If you really have a pressing need, you should really look into one of the other tools. After all, they all provide a trial period which may help you gauge them by using them in your current project. Some time invested in learning them and then immediately seeing results is certainly spent better than waiting for some script to mangle your masks for you. ;-)

I have always imported my cds (including books) into iTunes using one step called "join cd tracks" which is under the "Advanced" menu. Never a problem. But today I was importing a 10 disc book and on the 7th disc all of a sudden the choice to join cd tracks was greyed out. I have tried it with other discs. No luck. How can I get to this option again. I was not doing anything different so don't know what took away this choice. Can anyone help me?

Thought it had worked but soon found out it had not.
after further days of trying finally, solved it for me Yesterday.
turned off notifications when locked, and bingo, wow.
i have not turned off iCloud but location services are also off.
best thing to do I found was keep checking your usage, settings, general, usage, and flip down to bottom, if the standby and usage are similar there is a problem, if there is a big difference then all is ok. Just keep turning things off and on until the difference is very apparent.
something on my phone was keeping the phone alive even when turned off, and I think this was the phone repeatedly trying to update continually.
to me this is definitely down to the iOS, my wife has exactly same phone and iOS but hers doesn't have any problem and the battery lasts for days.
the guy at the Genius Bar told me to restore the phone via iTunes, not iCloud. This is because iCloud remembers the exact info from your phone and simply reinstates it when you restore, and this includes the iOS too.
when I get home from holidays that's what I'll do, or wait for iOS 8 in few weeks. But I'm so pleased I finally made it work, I was beginning to think ditch the phone and buy Samsung.
anyway anyone out there please try my final solution and let me know if it works for you?
