  • Split Valuation Error during GRN Creation

    Hi,
I am getting an error 'Material 2000750015 F419 not subject to split valuation' while posting GRN.
Actually, the Valuation Category was bymistakely updated in this material earlier. The same was later removed from the material & then a new line item was added in some existing PO for this material 2000750015 & plant F419.
But, still system had automatically saved a valuation type 'REG' in EKPO against the PO line item, although the valuation category was set to blank in the material prior to adding the line item in PO.
Due to this, I am getting above mentioned error while creating GRN.
Kindly help to resolve this issue at the earliest since the material has already arrived at the warehouse.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Komal

    Hi,
    Thanks for all your replies...
Only one PO was created earlier & GRN was also done against it for the entire qty. Later, the corresponding stock was consumed.
Then, valuation category of this material was set to blank. At that time, it was ensured that there wasnt any stock or any open PO's against it.
Still I am getting this error. Please help me in resolving this issue.
    Thanks,
    Komal

  • Error Split Valuation

    Hai...
When i processing PGI ....i get an error
saying  that ..........Material - 12450871  9030 not subject to split valuation
    12450871 is Material
    9030 is Plant
    regards
    pathys

    Hello Parthasarathy,
might be that, you have maintained the valuation category in the accounting view 1 of the material master record.
If you dont need the split valuation, remove that valuation category.
I hope this solves your problem.

  • Material Ledger with Split Valuation Type 'X' with FIFO

    Hi,
The requirement from the customer is to have Raw Material, Intermediary and Finished Products valued at Actuals and on a FIFO basis. According to me, this is possible only if we activate Material Ledger, have batch split valuation u2018Xu2019 as the valuation type and have a batch search strategy which does a FIFO. Are there any technical issues with this solution? Or is there a better solution? Is any organisation ever using this solution for a similar requirement? As an extension of this requirement, how does commodity trading companies running in SAP handle their inventory and COGS valuation?
    Thanks and Regards
    Shivram.

    Hi,
Using Material Ledger with batch management and split valuation of each batch ("X") leads to most aaccurate FIFO valuation result, however, depending on how many material and batch the customer has, huge number of materials will be processed and it will affect the performance issues. You should check the number and expected period-end time frame scheduling at least.
Financial responsible tell you to need this kind of solution (detailed FIFO calculation)?
They usualy needs to get simple FIFO valuation, meaning they don't care each individual logistic material movement as FIFO, but only care of periodic FIFO. I know, it depends on Finacial responsibes or their auditors, so it's also not general.
Please double-check the new FIFO valuation function for Material Ledger with using Periodic Closing and AVR. Some information is in SAP Note 1431829 and 1247053. Related transactions are there, CKLMBB_xxxx under Actual Costing/Material Ledger -> Balance Sheet Valuation Procedures. I couldn't find any official documents for Material Ledger + FIFO valuation (like Release Notes).
Hope this will be an additional option to yours.
    Best regards, Takashi

  • Split valuation activating for material.

I want to activate split valuation for a material. I have removed all batch stock, still its giving error saying if bacth exists then not possible to activate split valuation.
All batches are gone ,still can there be a problem in this?
Please explain if I miss anything.
I don't have any purchasing document also for this.

If any PO or GR is exist for th mateiral than you can not activate the Split valuation.
must be no transaciton has been done prior to activate the spli valuation.

  • Canu00B4t use two step transfer with split valuation ?

Hi people , i´ve activated split valuation for MaterialX , it has two Valuation types ( Production and Purchase ) . The problem arose when i tried to do a two step transfer between plants ( mov 303 ) and i got the following error msg :
Use one-step procedure for transfer posting to mat. subj. to valuation
    Message no. M7048
    Diagnosis
In the receiving plant, the material is subject to split valuation. For this material, a stock transfer cannot be carried out using the two-step procedure.
    Procedure
Use the one-step procedure (movement type 301) or a stock transfer order for the stock transfer.
The message is very clear itself , but... i just wonder if there`s actually any way to avoid this, considering that having to create a transfer order for each movement will duplicate work and using a one step transfer won´t be practical. I tried to change the error msg into a warning but couldn´t find it in customizing. Thanks for any comments on this !

First of all , thanks everyone for the help.
Csaba Szommer, Kunal ingale  , i read the OSS note and the pdf and indeed everything confirms it´s not possible to do the two step movement. So , i tried the stock transport order and something else appeared here. When creating this type of order , the system first ask for a Supplying Plant , then you can populate the material , quantity and the destination plant. But then it asks for the Valuation Type of the material involved, and it seems this field is Mandatory . Is it possible to make this field on the transport order as optional ? I couldn´t find this field at SPRO-MM-Purchasing-Purchase Order-Define Screen Layout at Document Level .
I need this field to be optional for the following reason. In my company there´s a relation between two plants , Plant A ( from where products are dispatched to the customer ) and Plant B ( where the material is produced with valuation type "Production" and sometimes is buyed from vendors with valuation type "Purchase" ) . The idea is to run an MRP which will generate the material needs on Plant A considering the Sales Orders. This need will be then transformed (automatically by MRP ) in Stock Transport Orders with Supplying Plant "Plant B" and receiving "Plant A". The problem here is that , at the moment of the transport order creation it´s no possible to know which will be the valuation type of the material that will satisfy the need. I mean , Plant B ( production and buying plant ) will check the list of needs for Plant A and then will decide which material ( with which Valuation Type ) they will provide considering the actual stock levels at the time of the MRP run.
In a few words, i see the only way to do a two step transfer of a split valuated material is using Stock Transport Orders , is there a way to make the field "Valuation Type" optional ?. The idea would be to choose the Valuation Type of the material at the moment of the Good Issue.  Thanks a lot , once again.

  • The step-by-step procedure of configuring Split-Valuation

    Hi
Can anyone give the step-by-step procedure of configuring Split-Valuation
    cheers
    MaruthiRam

    Hii,
To used split valuation, you have to activate it using 'OMW0'.
To change split material valuation once it has been set, you must
    1.  first post out all stocks (for example, to a cost center or with movement type 562)
    2.  then change the control parameters
    3.  if necessary, change the automatic account determination
    4.  finally post the stocks back in again
In split valuation, you can distinguish between partial stocks of a material according to certain criteria and valuate them separately.
The material stock is divided according to valuation category and valuation type.
The valuation category determines how the partial stocks are divided, that is, according to which criteria.
The valuation type describes the characteristics of the individual stocks.
With the function "Setting" you can determine:
which valuation categories exist in your company (global categories)
which valuation types exist in your company (global types)
which valuation types belong to which valuation category
which valuation categories exist in a valuation area (local categories)
Your entries are only relevant if you set split valuation as active in the function "Global settings".
In the standard SAP R/3 System, the following valuation categories are default settings :
    B procurement type
    with the valuation types:
    "EIGEN" for in-house production
    "FREMD" for external procurement
    H Origin
X automatic valuation (only for batch)
To select split valuation ('OMWC'), proceed as follows:
    1.  Determine the valuation categories and valuation types that are allowed for all valuation areas:
global valuation categories via menu "Goto --> Global Categories"
global valuation types via menu "Goto --> Global Types"
    2.  Allocate the valuation types to the valuation categories.
         a) Select "Goto --> Global Categories".
         b) Position the cursor on a valuation category and select
            "Goto --> Global Categories --> Assignments --> 'Types->Category'".
         c) Activate the valuation types you want.
    3.  Determine the local valuation categories for each valuation area.
         a) Select "Goto --> Local definitions".
         b) Position the cursor on a valuation area and select
             "Goto --> Local Definitions --> Allocate Categoires->Org.units (button Cats->(OU)".
You obtain a list of the global valuation categories.
         c) Activate the categories to be used in this valuation area.
The system creates the local valuation types based on the allocations under point 2.
Only now can you create a master record with split valuation.
Specifying Split Valuation by creating Material Subject to Split Valuation
    1.  Create a material master record, selecting the Accounting View 1.
    2.  Enter your data as required on the Accounting data screen, specifying a valuation category.
(If you can't find the valuation category field, it might be hidden, use OMSR to define the Field Groups.
Look for the field MBEW-BWTTY for Valuation category).
    3.   Be sure that the price control indicator is V for moving average price and enter a moving average price.
    4.   In the case of split valuation, you can create only one valuation header record with price control V because the
individual stock values are cumulated, and this total value is written to the valuation header record.  This is where the
individual stocks of a material are managed cumulatively. To do this, fill in the Valuation category field on the accounting
screen when you create the material master record and leave the Valuation type field blank.
    5.   Save your data and the system creates the valuation header record.
    6.   The initial screen appears.
    7.   Extend the material by creating new material master records from the Accounting view 1. For the first material, specify a
valuation type in the Organizational Levels dialog box and enter the respective accounting data on the data screen.
Proceed likewise for the other materials, distinguishing between them by valuation type.  To do this, call up the material in
creation mode again. Due to the fact that a valuation header record exists, the system requires you to enter a valuation
          type for the valuation category.
    8.   Repeat step seven for every valuation type planned.
You want to valuate the stock of material XYZ that you obtain from manufacturer A in Los Angeles at a different price than the stock you obtain from manufacturer B in Detroit. In this case, the valuation category is H for origin. Your valuation types can be LOS ANGELES and DETROIT.
If a material is subject to split valuation, every quantity (sub-stock) of this material must be assigned to a valuation type (for example, country of origin).
For every valuation type, there are two types of data in the system, as follows:
Valuation data (for example, valuation price, total stock quantity, total stock value), which is defined for every valuation type at valuation-area level and applies to all dependent storage locations.
Stock data, which, like batch data, is managed separately for each storage location. If a material that is subject to split valuation is also subject to management in batches, its stock data is not managed by valuation type, but rather by batch. Every batch is assigned to a valuation type.
The stock quantity, stock value, and valuation price for all valuation types are managed cumulatively at valuation-area level.
Must the Valuation Type Exist Before the First Goods Receipt?
You can post the goods receipt of material of a certain valuation type only if the valuation data for this valuation type already exists, because the system valuates the goods receipt at the price defined in the valuation data. On the other hand, the stock data for the valuation type is created automatically during the first goods receipt into the storage location, if this is defined in Customizing for Inventory Management.
Goods Movements with Materials Subject to Split Valuation
If you want to enter goods movements for materials subject to split valuation, you must enter the valuation type in addition to the material number.
Enter the valuation type in the Batch field for MB01.
In MIGO, there is a valuation type field in Detail data -> Material.

  • Split valuation Issues in PO

    Hi Consultant,
I have one issue with Split valuation -configuration. I have maintained all the configuration setting related to split valuation but whenever I will create PO system does not pick-up the price (different price based on the valuation type in material ) .
The following configuration have done in IMG:
    i) Activated split valuation
II) Maintain valuation category under this group in to three valuation types.
III) Activate Plant, (assign into valuation type)
Maintain condition table with key combination (material/plant/price/val.type)
    Assign into condition type PB00
Maintain condition records in MEK1 (for this material)
Maintained one header material with valuation category then same material has extended to different valuation types and prices.
Is it necessary to maintain Info record for the split valuated material?
Why system does not valuate the price automatically based in the valuation type changes made in PO?
    Regards,
    Thiru

    Hi Consultant,
I have one issue with Split valuation -configuration. I have maintained all the configuration setting related to split valuation but whenever I will create PO system does not pick-up the price (different price based on the valuation type in material ) .
The following configuration have done in IMG:
    Hi, Thiru,
    Please check the settings for configuration of split valuation;
If you want to use split valuation, activate the settings found in customizing for material management under
Valuation and Account Assignment--> Split Valuation-->Activate Split Valuation
Define valuation category and a valaution type.
Valuation category determines the criteria for distinguishing between stocks. The valuation type decribes the possible features of the partial stocks.
You define valuation category, valuation types and assignment of types to categories in customizing for material management
Valuation and Account Assignment--> Split Valuation-->Configure  Split Valuation
Also first check you material master record with MM03 by selecting the desired organization levels and see whether the valuation prices are showing as per desired valuation type.
Also would like to add that info records are not required in split valuation.

    Hi,
What do you mean with "inconcistent to my storage type definition?", is that mean i can process two step transfer without using PO/delivery process or one-step movement? coz according to business requirement, we must use two step transfer considering to the distance between plants is so far and we want to make it the simple way so that PO/Delivery process isn't better solution. I think, this is an standard procedure all company over the world can use but just the reason of split valuation the system can't execute the transaction.
Is there any config i miss to? is there any user exit i can use for this requirement? please help me..
    thanks,

  • Batch and split valuation simultaneously

    hello all,
we have scenarios in which both batch management and split valuation is active.
we are currently uses STO with stocktransport order by using 351 and 101 movements.
    my question is that
why the sap system does not allow plant to plant stock transfer by using 303 and 305 movement type when both batch management and split valuation is active?
is this is a sap standard best practice?
    pls explain in detail.
    regards

    HI,
    try following sap note

  • Inforecord for Split valuated materials

    Hi all,
How can i maintain different prices for split valuated materials
For Eg.  I have a material split valuated based on its Quality vendor supplies two diff quality materials with different prices
how to maintain the prices in inforecords or any alternative to maintain both the prices.
    With regards,
    Krishna

    hi..
Split valuation is for Valuation Purpose only...
SAP does not support....Procuring same material with Diff. Split Valuation Type from Single Vendor is not allowed by SAP standard..
You cannot Maintain Purchase Info for Material which is having 2 Split Valuation type......with One Vendor......
Because For One vendor and One material combination, you can maintain One split valuation type only....
    Hope it works..
    Thanks..

  • Change materail master from non-split valuated to split valuated (E M3 194)

Valuation category cannot be added in the accounting 1 view when stock is available in the previous period. Is there a way to overcome this?
This is the situation. We have stock materials that are not defined as split valuated until the business requires so. Valuation category cannot be added in the accounting 1 view if stock is available. In this case we issue the stock out, add the valuation category and then return the stock again as split valuated now. However, we still get error M3 194 since we have stock available in the previous period.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I did not find a solution to allow you to change split value back and forth. The SAP check is hard coded and there is nothing you can do about it. However, I found a trick to be able to change it back and forth.
    1. Compare your stock figures in this period with the previous period (MM03 accounting view).
Previous period: 20 EA; value $200; MAP $10
Current period: 12 EA; value $144; MAP $12
    2. You need to receive/issue stock in the current period to make quantity and value the same in both periods. We have configured special movement types (copy from 501 and 201) to allow pre-priced movements. You only need to make the amount field required for these new movement types.
In this example execute a 501 (use the custom movement type) to receive in the current period 8 EA with a total value of $56. After the movement this is what you have:
Previous period: 20 EA; value $200; MAP $10
Current period: 20 EA; value $200; MAP $10
    Accounting: Inv +56
                      Exp -56
    3. Make sure you allow posting to the previous period.
    4. Issue stock out (201) using postind date in the previous period. After the movement this is the situation:
Previous period: 0 EA; value $0; MAP $10
Current period: 0 EA; value $0; MAP $10
    Accounting: Inv -200
                      Exp +200
    5. Change your material to split value or non-split valued (MM02)
    6. Receive stock back in this period. You need to use the pre-price movement type. Receive the quantity and value so you have the same quantity and value you currently have in stock. In this example we should receive 12 EA with value $144. After the movement this is what you have:
Previous period: 0 EA; value $0; MAP $10
Current period: 12 EA; value $144; MAP $12
    Accounting: Inv +144
                      Exp -144
    Hope it helps.

  • What is Split valuation? why and where it will be useful?

    Dear Frndz,
Kindly explain What is Split valuation? why and where it will be useful?
    Regards,
    SRini

    Hi,
    Split Valuation
    Use
For certain materials, it is necessary to valuate the various stocks in a particular valuation area separately. Reasons for this include:
    Different origins of the material
Different grades of quality for the material
    Different statuses for the material
Differentiation between in-house production and external procurement
    Differentiation between different deliveries
    Features
If a material is subject to split valuation, the material is managed as several partial stocks, each partial stock is valuated separately.
Each transaction that is relevant for valuation, be it a goods receipt, goods issue, invoice receipt or physical inventory, is carried out at the level of the partial stock. When you process one of these transactions, you must always specify which partial stock is involved. This means that only the partial stock in question is affected by a change in value, the other partial stocks remain unaffected.
Alongside the partial stocks, the total stock is also updated. The calculation of the value of the total stock results from the total of the stock values and stock quantities of the partial stocks.
You define whether the material is subject to split valuation on the accounting view of the material master record. There are two fields for this:
The valuation category specifies which criterion should be used as the basis for differentiating between the various partial stocks.
The valuation type specifies an individual characteristic of a partial stock.
    Prerequisites
The valuation category is defined in the master record of a material. It determines whether the material is subject to split valuation. The specified material type must also be maintained in the material master record.
    Activities
To specify the valuation type of a material for which valuation types have been defined in the material master record, proceed as follows:
Branch to the purchase order item detail screen.
Enter a predefined valuation type in the field Val. type.
    Save the purchase order.

  • Only price control "V" is possible for split valuation'

    Hi
For  semi finished items price control has been assigned as 'V'.when i am trying to change the same to S' I got the error message is"Only price control "V" is possible for split valuation''.Even i checked and corrected the MRP views in Material master.
Can any one help me to sort out this issue
    Regards,
    P.Selvakumar

    Hi,
I guess that you are getting the error message M3 185  ('Only price control "V" is
possible for split valuation').   This message is correct.
ONLY materials with Moving Average Price can use the split valuation
    function.
The reason is the following one:
If there are 2 valuation types, named X and Y.
    There is an equality:
    Material pricetotal quantity = Price Xquantity X + Price Y*quantity Y
    In order to balance,
When X and Y is 'V', the header material should use 'V'.
When X is 'V', Y is 'S', the header material should use 'V'.
When X and Y is 'S', the header material should use 'V'.
So only price control V is possible for split valuation.
In accordance with the text of the message M3185, split valuation
requires the price code 'V' (moving average price) for the header
    record.
Please, refer to the SAP Library (http://help.sap.com) documentation
under the menu path (for your current release level, 470):
MM - Material Price Change (MM-IV-MP)
    -> Split Valuation
-> Creating Material Subject to Split Valuation
"Creating Material Subject to Split Valuation:
    1. First create a valuation header record for this material. This is
where the individual stocks of a material are managed cumulatively.
To do this, fill in the Valuation category field on the accounting
screen when you create the material master record and leave the
Valuation type field blank. In the Price control field, enter V
(moving average price), since a moving average price is constructed
in the valuation header record from the values and quantities of the
individual stocks. When you save, the system creates the valuation
       header record.
    2. Then create the material for a valuation type.
To do this, call up the material in creation mode again. Due to the
fact that a valuation header record exists, the system requires you
to enter a valuation type for the valuation category.
    3. Repeat step two for every valuation type planned."
In order for the system to take into account the different values of
the substocks, the material at the header level must necessarily have
a 'moving average price' (V) control.

  • Split Valuation Process

    Hello SAP,
Can anyone explain the Split valuation Process step by step, what are the settings has to be done in backend and how can we apply it to the material?
How it will effect the material process?

    Hi Mohan,
The SAP R/3 System allows you to valuate stocks of a material either together or separately, that is, according to different valuation criteria. Split valuation is necessary if, for example:
    1. Stock from in-house production has a different valuation price than externally procured stock.
    2. Stock obtained from one manufacturer is valuated at a different price than stock obtained from another manufacturer.
    3. Different batch stocks of a material have different valuation prices.
    4. Value damaged and repair part differently from a new part.
    "Goto --> Global Categories --> Assignments --> 'Types->Category'".
    c) Activate the valuation types you want.
    3. Determine the local valuation categories for each valuation area.
    a) Select "Goto --> Local definitions".
    b) Position the cursor on a valuation area and select
    "Goto --> Local Definitions --> Allocate Categoires->Org.units (button Cats->(OU)".
    Hope this helps!
    Preethi.
