Material description for different language

Hi SAP Gurus,
Please advise how to pull material description maintained in different language ?
I need to download this material descriptions maintained in all languages for a certain type of materials of one plant.

you either create a quickview by joining MARC and MAKT tables for this.
or much easier. you press F4 in a material number field.
then you go to search help W plant material.
there you erase the language from the selection pop-up and execute
in the hitlist do a right mouse click and you can directly download

Issue in maintaining hazardous material description in different language.

Hi All,
I have a requirement to display hazardoues material description in xyz langauge on a script.
Table MGEF is the primary table for hazardous material. There is no text table for it.
Field STOFT holds the description of the hazardous material.
Now issue is that as no text table is available for hazardoues material , how the description can be available into multiple langauges ? Also if the text is made available in XYZ langauge in this table on login to XYZ langauge ,then it must be also be displayed in english on login with 'EN' langauge .
Kindly help me in this regard. Also it will be great is someone can tell me how hazardoues material description is maintained in multiple langauages.

You need to maintain the region code "PT" in SPRO>LE>WM>Hazardous material>Master data-->Define region code.
Once done..relogin into system with "PT" language at login page of SAP.
Use VM01.. give material number and region code "PT"..it'll take you to next screen where you can maintain description in Portuguese.

Material Description in different language

Hi Expertsl
We have to show material description on the label. As of now the label description is displaying in English. Material description is also maintained in a language calledd 'Z1'.
So the present requirement is as below
1. If the material description exists in English language and Z1 language then the 'Z1 language' description is to be shown
2. If the material description exists in English language and not in Z1 languae then 'EN' language description is to be shown.
Please suggest on this with the code if available with you.

Populating Description in different language

Hi,
While Creating a material i want to populate the material description in different languages (German and Chinese).
But the problem is how to convert the description in different languages in program.
Is there any function module available for translation ?

Hi Amit,
my Requirement:
Material is created in Windchill and then it comes to SAP through a Z BAPI, we are using 'BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA' in this Z BAPI to save the material.
I want to populate the materialdescription table in the save Bapi with the descriptions in different languages along with English. So that the MAKT table will have the description in different languages.
But the problem is, how to translate material description in some other language, is there any function module available to translate ?

Hi,
For a single material code maintaining multiple text in the same language is not possible,
this contradicts the basic principle of consistancy.
Howevery you are free to do R&D, if sucessful please let me know.

Material descriptions in chinese language is not transferred to SRM

Hi All,
We have an issue in transfering material description in chinese language from ECC to SRM.
We are on SRM 5.5 and ECC 6.0
I've set filter in R3AC1 with Table name "matk" anf field "SPRAS" to take care of language.
This works fine for all language except chinese both for initial and delta down load.
Any help is greatly appreciated

Material Description in Chineese language

Dear All,
I am trying to upload language key ZH - Chineese and material description in chineese language by bdc and Lsmw from text file. But after uploading, text is showing in some other format which is not chineese. Please give me some suggestion to overcome this problem.

My system is Unicode, so I would like to connect in english (or italian) language, and after enter material description in chineese language without logon in chinese language.
After I will nedd to enter in arabic language, so I suppose that it is equal.

Customize iw13 for Material Descriptions for one time buys

Hello,
I'd like to make a customer report zpmiw13 using iw13. I'd like it to do everything the same as iw13 except I'd like it to get the material description for the one time buys to show up on the report.
I'm pretty sure this has been done before so I was hoping someone has a code sample I could look at to do this.
Somewhere in the code I need to do a select statement to find the Material Description in EKPO(?) when the Material Number field is blank (one time buy = no material master record).

Installing dictionaries for different languages in FM7.0 for Windows

Hi there,
I'm wondering how it's possible to install the dictionaries for different languages in FM 7.0. I installed it about a month ago and now I only have te languages US English and UK English in my Paragraph Designer. I know from my previous work that it is possible to have a lot more languages over there. When I look in the manual that's delivered together with the software, it says that:
"The FrameMaker CD contains dictionaries for all supported languages. However, the default Windows and Mac OS installation contains only one dictionary in a single language."
That's great, but when I re-enter the CD, I cannot find the other dictionaries anywhere.
Can someone please help me how to fix this? It's really important for handling files in different (european) languages, e.g. for the hyphenation.

1. Start the FM 7.0 installation from the CD.
2. Work your way to the Setup screen and select "Custom" installation.
3. Select only the "Dictionaries" components (i.e. uncheck the other
components) and click on the "Change" button.
4. This will pop-up the available "sub-components", i.e. the
dictionaries.
5. Select the ones you want and click on the "Continue" button and
then the "Next" button to install only the new dictionaries.

Different material description for RG1 register

Dear Experts,
I have a client requirement for change in material description (materialmaster) to a different description.
The description maintained in material master is for viz
SS CT BT 200mm-123-093MKO
But excise need description
SS BILLET
Where to maintain this additional description in material master and fetch the same for RG1 register.
Let me know any stranded user exit is available. If the above case is possible than also let me know what would be the bad implications on processes (like stock will not match with description).

Material description in logon language at Purchase Requisition

Hi firends,
I am working an international company. Our manager is login system different language (DE) When I create a new Purchase Requisition (My logged language is TR) my PR document contain materials TR description. For release manager cann't understanda something from this PR because he logged to system DE and all PR material rows are have Turkish description.
How can I fix this? Do you have any solutyion?

For example I want to buy 1234567 material
TR : Malzeme
EN : Material
DE : das Material
I have been sign in system TR language. And I am creating new Purchase Requisition. 1234567 material now in my requisition list. And it is looking 1234567 Malzeme
My manager sign in system DE language. When he looking my requisition for approvment. He see my requisition list
1234567 Malzeme
But my manager want to see is 1234567 das Material.
How can I do this?

How to integrate Material Descriptions with Custom Language codes

I am working on the materials integration - ECC to C4C.
The material descriptions have additional custom language codes (Z1, Z2, etc) to store additional descriptions.
1. How can we adjust our integration in C4C to take those additional descriptions ?
2. Specifically, can we even create custom language codes Z1, Z2, etc ?
3. Will the integration (mapping, idocs, webservices) need any adjustment for extra language values to pass along ?

Hi Tim,
in the integration ECC to C4C only ISO language codes are supported. Furthermore custom language codes cannot be created in C4C. In your case you have to store the additional information in the C4C material master using extension fields.

Different descriptions in different languages

Hello,
Can somebody tell me whether is is possible to have a different description when a user uses a different langauage and if so, how to set this up?
What I mean is: We will be using PeopleSoft in 4 languages (English, dutch, french, german) and we want to have our values to have a description addapted to the language.
For example a user signing in as dutch should have the account descriptions in dutch, a user signing in in french should have his descriptions in french etc.

If this is a delivered record where you have description stored, then it should have a related language record attached (look into record properties in application designer).
when creating these accounts, you should login into peoplesoft in different languages and change the description according to the language for the same account. This will populate the related language record (you can also do this by SQLs).
If this is a custom record, then you will need to attach a related language record to this and then populate it with right values following the same approach as above.
Once the related language record is populated with the right values, you should be able to see translated values when logged in with a language other than the base language(which in a normal installation is always kept as english)

Save description in different languages

hello abapers,
I'm struggling with some problem for the whole day now.
problem:
the (same) description of functional location has to be saved in TWO different languages every time any change+save is processed on a functional location .
short example:
user is logged on in english.
creates a functional location 123 with description 'Func.Loc english'.
save.
2nd user is logged on in german for example.
using IL02 with the fun.loc 123 ->> the description 'disappears'. But i need to have the same Value as maintained before ('Func.Loc english') to be there also in change mode !!!!!
User exit ILOM0001 is already implemented and can be used for further enhancements.
