HI,
How can i add Material Group field in MB51? with out generatin any Zprogram.
( I searched for it in SDN but i didnot get any accurate solution)

Material group field selection

Hi,
We configure the material group to be optional field in Material master (for some reasons) but when we create the purchasing view the system always ask for Fill up the Material group field. Is that mandatory field control for material group is hard coded in the program ??

Making material group field in ME22n transaction as Input Enabled

Hi,
I have a requirement in my project, where I need to make the material group field as Input Enabled.
The reason for this being, that after a PO is created, the user might change the material group of the material(using MM02). The new material group must reflect in the already created PO's.
I have searched and gone through the previous threads, which say that it is impossible for new material group to be reflected in the already created PO.
But we can make it as input enabled field, instead of changing the material group, so that user can MANUALLY change it.
I searched and found out that material group cannot be made as Input Enabled field using SPRO settings.
Also there is no BADI or user exit where we can code for it an make it as input enabled.
But there is some internal enhancment point, in the SAP source code, where we can go and do the coding for it. I am sure about it because I have seen such a scenario earlier also.
Can someone help me in finding out the particulare enhancement point where we can code for our field to become Input Enabled?

You create Formula Columns in Data Model and display fields in Layout Model. Does "a new forum column" have a typo?
Searching Reports Builder Help on Formula Columns would find a lot info. Fro example,
To create or edit a formula column:
1     In the Data Model view, single-click in the tool palette, then:
n     To create a column within a group, click in the group at the position you want the column placed in the hierarchy.
n     To create a report-level column, click in an open area of the canvas region.
2     Double-click the formula column object to display the Property Palette.
3     Under the Placeholder/Formula node, double click the PL/SQL Formula property value field.
4     In the PL/SQL Editor, define the PL/SQL for the formula (e.g., SAL * 0.07).

Make field in Material master mandatory based on the material group

Hello all,
I need to make the field "post to inspection flag" mandatory based on the material group while creating the Material master.
I found options for making the field mandatory based on Material type,Industry sector and plant NOT based on the material group.
Could anyone please provide suggestions on setting up the field as mandatory based on material group while creating material master

You can make Material Group field as Mandatory while Creating Material Master.
SPRO>Log General>Material Master>Field Selection>Maintain Field Selection for Data Screens
Select Screen # 48
In the Field selection (Field Ref.) of (MARA - MAKTL) screen , Change the settings from Optional to Required Entry for T Codes MM01, MM02 or you can select the Material Type ;
Please note this by choosing this selection the fields of Profit Center and Division will also become Mandatory.

Material group field is mandatory in ME21N. I need to disable the control on this field, how can I do this ?
In fact, I need to disable this mandatory field for a PO creation in reference to a Contract.

Hi,
If PO is created with material number this field is get defaulted from material master basic data view. But If PO is with short text means without material number, then material group is mandatory anyway..Its stadard SAP program behavior.
You are saying this field should be optional in case of PO with refernce to contract? Does it mean that Contract is not with material and it is with short text? Please elaborate little bit on your requirement so as to answer d same.

Report on Vendor selection according to material group

Hi gurus,
I have a requirement from client where the client want a report of the vendors according to material group.
There is a standard report for this in SAP T.C.---- ME6B. But this report is not working . it is throwing message that no vendor exists for the selection criteria. Material group has been maintained in Material Master record. Vendor master records exists. Please tell me is there any customising that may be required to generate this standard report.

Inventory reports with external material group

In my office in material master record material group & external material groups are maintained. I am looking for a inventory report which shall displays the stock available in paricular plant & other report of stock lying at vendor both should display the material group & external material group. There is no Inventory report with external material group field in SAP so consult Abaper to develop the customized report.

Material group in Material master

Dear All Warm greetings
How to configure display of materials through material group? For end users
Example when my user wants to view any material, system should only show the materials which he should as per material group
Example while create Purchase requisition/Purchase order & display of material from MM04
I tried by using parameter id in user profile, own data
WGR & WM1 but doesnu2019t work
Pleas advice me how can i process, Help he out with some solutions.

I am a little unclear of your requirements.
SET/GET parameters (from 'user profile own data') generally only work when the field is displayed on a selection screen for a program. The parameter will then automatically populate the field on the selection screen.
As it happens, the two parms WGR and WM1 you mentioned are not used by any programs that I can see.
MM04 does not contain material group, assigning a set/get parm to your userid wouldn't change much anyway.
If you are talking about making it easier for your users to select a material, based on materials assigned to a material group, then you could try the F4 help on Material 'L - Material by Material group' Here, you could enter the MatGrp and then have displayed a list of the materials that are assigned to that group. From this list the user could select the appropriate material.
If you are talking about pre-populating the Material Group field in ME51 (probably other screens as well), try using parameter MKL in your user parameters. You should log off/log on after changing a SET/GET parameter to see the effect.
If you are talking about PREVENTING a user from displaying materials outside of a particular MatGrp, then you should consult with your authorization team to see if they can provide a solution.

Material group search list

Hi Expert,
I have a very simple problem but i cannot find the solution.
When we go to MM03, we are able to search material code by material description for eg: place your cursor on the material code field, press F4 and enter " jett ", list of description with JETT will come out regardless it is capital or small letter.
But however, if you search for material group list, for eg: place your cursor on the material group field,press F4 and enter " raff ", it will only list out the material group and description with "raff" . Other material group desc which also contains of raff but with capital letter will not come out. Means it is a case sensitive. Is this standard or we can set it somewhere so that it can ignore case sensitive, just like material code and material description?

The behaviour you are seeing is per standard design.
For the Material Group, the standard generated search help H_T023
is used. You may see this in transaction SE12.
H_T023 browses through table T023 where all the Material groups are
kept. The Search Help automaiticaly inherits the attributes of the
fields in it from the Data Dictionary.
The Material Group Description Example (WGBEZ) which belongs to Domain
TEXT20, inherits the Case-sensitivty flag from TEXT20 which is set.
The options which exist are as follows: (None of which are Supported
by SAP as standard
- You could change all descriptions for all you material groups to be
Uppercase. To facilitate this, a small ABAP could be written.
- You could create your own Search Help for Material Group, using its
own view, and here specify that you do not want case sensitivity.

Issue Search Help Exit for Material Group

I developed a search help exit for material group for the search helps both H_T023 and H_2023_MEPO to restrict certain material groups from the actual display as follows
1) I developed custom table to hold the Invalid material groups
2) Developed search help as same as in the bellow link

This is working fine when we press F4 in ME21N Transaction and give some description and then press enter the popup screen.
But my requirement is user will enter some description in ME21N material group field and press enter ( Not pressing the F4 here) at this moment this is not going through the search help exit and displaying all the entries including the Invalid materials.
Note: We can delete the Invalid material groups but the documents which are having the invalid material already will have an issue and need to be corrected all the documents. But our requirement is only to use the correct materials groups from now onwards.
I would appropriate if any one can helping this regard.

You can call your ZSEARCH_HELP from the PAI , on the event SY-UCOMM = Enter using the function module F4IF_FIELD_VALUE_REQUEST.
For example, your screen field is MARA-ZXXXX, screen 0100 and search help : ZSEARCH_HELP
CALL FUNCTION 'F4IF_FIELD_VALUE_REQUEST'
    EXPORTING
      tabname                   = 'MARA'
      fieldname                  = 'ZXXXX'
      searchhelp               = 'ZSEARCH_HELP '
      dynpnr                      = '0100'

This F4IF_FIELD_VALUE_REQUEST will call your custom search help exit.

Assigning Authorization to Material Group

Hi.. Experts... I have a query
In materials master i want filter material groups based on the user. that is if there is an user YYYY he will be able to see only the material groups Y1,Y2,Y3.... and if the user is ZZZZ then he ll be able to see the material groups Z1,Z2,Z3... ,when he/she selects the material group field while creating material in material master (MM01).
how can I do this ..Please help me

We tie in material grouping to taxibility in Vertex O series via mapping in Vertex central.
We do have a user exit for this functionality.
