Material master lock

Hi,
how can I lock a field in the material master so that it will not possible for the user to change its value ?

For maintaing the relevant screen and fields
SPRO --> Logistics general->material master->configure material master --> Assign Screen sequence to user /Material Type/Transaction type/Industry sector
Alternate You can do.
If you have already maintained the data and it is picking correctly at Transaction level and report level
Just make the field hide / Display mode
SPRO --> Logistics general->material master-> Field Selection --> Assign Fields to Field Selection Group

Hi All,
I have made a copy of the role SAP_ISR_MATERIAL_DISPLAY and I have changed some setting in order to hide some views of the Material Master for the user. It has worked finally but doing this the user doesn't have authorization for other Transactions Code of WM like LS24, LT*, etc... So, I guess, I have to merge some roles and/or authorizations or I have to create an own role to pack everything I want for this user. Anyway, this is another issue...

Mass update of product master (lock material record)

Hi! Does anyone know of any program that I can use to carry out mass update of product master in SRM? I am specifically looking at locking the materials. I originally intended to use LSMW and create a recording for it. However, the recording didn't work - when I clicked on the open button so that I can key in the product id, it returns back to the recording / LSMW transaction with the screen data. I did not even have a chance to proceed further.
Any idea would be appreciated.

How your SRM PO will reflected ( indeed really creates in ECC i.e copy of srm PO).

can you create a SC for local material and order a successful PO ?
i know there is a product check in catalog web services - in SRM product master not necesary but your ECC must have material master right..

DMS - Object Links (Material master) is showing "Record Locked"

When looking at an info record in DMS, I am on the Object links tab for Material Master. There is now a field called "Record Locked". Haven't seen this field before. What does this mean that the record is locked? Is there something that needs to be done to unlock it?

Dear experts,
I also seen this column. But problem is I am able to view this in my development client. But could not view in production.
Also my observation is if I am changing the document from the Objectlink e.g. Material Master this cloumn appears automatically and allows me to do the changes in the DIR.
But this happens in Development client same functionality I want to use in Production.
I could not find any config part regarding this.
Can any body help me on this to resolve this?

If you click system shows lock relevant field in display mode .how to make this in change mode.
if you enter system shows material is locked but we can create PO against that material also.

If a particular field is locked in the material master, then you can unlock it . Follow the path in spro-logistics general-material master-field selection-define lock relevant field. Make the required settings.

Locking additional descriptions in material master

Hi,
For data protection reason I have customized that specific fields of the material master can be locked after creation of the material master (transaction OMSFIX). Requested fields for locking are also the different descriptions in the additional data screen of the material master. However I can't find a field in the locking table that does the trick. Locking the fields MAKT-MAKTX and MAKT-SPRAS are not locking the descriptions in the additional data field. Does anybody know a solution?

As its shown the Long text of basic data tab stored in RM03M table field RM03M-LTEX1.
Since RM03M is a structure and not a Table.
Structure is like a work area or an arrays only access data while the concerned program that uses it is running.
We cannot view the structure as I know. Take help of ABAPer who can solve your requirements.

Locking material master

I want to lock the material master record after it has been created so that no one can change it afterwards. Is it possible to still create revision levels to this material using ECM (Engineering Change Management)?

We can lock Material master for fields which are lock-relevant. You do this in Customizing for the Material Master in Define Lock-Relevant Fields.This can be done through authorisation. This requires you to have the corresponding authorization for authorization object M_MATE_MAF. No changes can be made until we unlock the material

I have a scenario where we need to lock material master field to be locked once data is maintained in the field so that its not editable for the users to change by the users, later the change should be possible for the field through an interface.
Any inputs on how to achieve this.

Im not sure how to get a direct solution for your scenario, but maybe you can use Authorization group to control who can access to this material instead?
Just a thought.

Error while changing the UoM in material master

Hi experts....
I am not able change the UoM in the material master. Even if, all the PR , PO and reservations are cancelled .
It still gives me error message " Manual Reservations already exists "

Just check in SM12 if no entries are locked.

In Material master safety stock field is in display

Hi,
As a consultant i am able to change the Safety stock field in MRP view in the test system and Production also,but for the user this particular field is in display mode wheras other field in the MRP view user is able to change.

Have you checked if there is any configuration made to lock same fields on material master? Follow the below path please;
Logistics u2013 General ==> Material Master ==> Field Selection ==> Define Lock-Relevant Fields
May be someone defined some fields as u201Clock-relevantu201D in customizing and during creation or changing of material master he/she set this indicator. You are able to change those fields because you may have SAP_ALL authorization whereas others may not.

"Material is configurable" indicator in material master record

Hallo, SAP gurus!
I have a problem:
in my SAP system there is a material whose indicator "material is configurable" is set. Due to this I cannot hold calculations of this material on. How can I clear this indicator(it's grayed and I can't modify it)?
I experimented with BOMs for this material and tried to create several BOMs and I managed as I understand. Probably this could influence setting "material is configurable" flag. Because I could hold calculations on this material before.

firstly unlock the material in mm02--> basic data 1 you have a small lock on top along with additional data and other tabs when you click on that it will unlock and then you can change it also do get in to img - logistic general- material master--field selection--- define lock relevant keys
here go to config management and material lock check the or uncheck the relevant fields

Material Master - Sales Organization

Hi,
I am having two company codes, each with one Plant and Sorg respectively.
Say
4211 ( BUKRS )
SC00 ( WERKS )
4211 ( VKORG )
3121 ( BUKRS )
MB50 ( WERKS )
3121 ( VKORG )
When i am tyring to maintain a material master for SC00 Plant and 3121 Sales org. The system allows me to save the material. I want to have a lock on creation of Material master only with those plant and Sorg belonging to the same company code
How to achieve this functionality.

This is in SD ENterprise structure customizing.
Check the settings in OVX6.
For a Sales Org/Dist Channel combination, you can assign plants there.
If you want to restrict company code level, you can do so in OVX3.
Here, you assign the sales org for the company code e.g. sales org 3121 can work only with company 3121.

ALE-IDOC ISSUE(material getting locked for enhancement)

Dear all,
I have extended the idoc and enhanced inbound material master function module to suite the requirement .
The challenge is that the material is getting locked when the material sent from bd10 and prodction version view for which function module extended is not getting created.The error log says that "material is locked".But when the idoc is processed again from we19 the material is not getting locked and PV(production version is successfully created).
Can anybody guide me how this locking issue can be resolved?(have done unlock -lock before and after BDC for Production version).

Hi,
If some one using the same material in another session, definitely the idoc will fail as the material is locked... In order to overcome this first lock the material u want to send, if doing this u get foreign lock then u will know that already someone locked it , so once gain process the same record until the foreign lock is gone, once it is gone process ur record and then unlock the material.

Material master price problem

Sir in material material master ( MM03 ) accounting view we mention price of material , there my system is showing me price in 70.000,000 format , means if i want seventy thousand then after 70 one fullstop appears and in place of fullstop comma appears .What to do to get correct no. sequence ?

LSMW(Direct Input) Material master issues

Hi,
I have few issues on Material master-LSMW(Direct Input-RMDATIND) data upload(creating materials).
1. Can i upload excel sheet for uploading data! What option i have to choose in 'specify files' for this!
2. I am using fields MBRSH, MTART, MAKTX, MEINS, BISMT, MATKL, MAGRV for mapping.
    But when i tried to upload in last step-start direct input program with Lock Mode-'N' it is giving error as
    'Plant data does not exist'. Because this is for 'Basic Data' i though no need to input plant.
3. MATNR field is not needed for creation right as it is auto generated!
4. I have to do seperate object for this project for 'Sales organization data' & Plant Data is there any checks needed for the same!
Can anybody give solutions for the above!

1. Now i am trying to process 4 records it is creating 3 records.
    It is always skipping 1st record in flat file.
    Any check required!
2. Also i want to write a output file(log file) to my presentation/application server with all material no's created & material descriptions. Where can i do the same!
