  • Restrict change authorization for MM17 (Material master mass maintenance)

    Hi,
Apologies if I have posted this in the wrong forum. I want to know if it is possible to use the mass maintenance transaction MM17 (indus. material) to display data only istead of change/create. Is there some setting at the basis object level which can enable this? There are currently a lot of custom abap reports and queries in our system for viewing material master data, these can all be replaced by MM17. Basically we want to use MM17 as a reporting tool to display data only. Is a solution possible? Help is appreciated, thanks.
    Regards

Have you tried the MM Information System node in the SAP Easy Access menu? There are a bunch of standard reports with navigation options there, for the user who has the correct authorization to display only.
Alternately, you may want to take a look into transaction MASS and use the B_MASSMAIN object, depending on your requirements - but test it well.
    Cheers,
    Julius

  • Material master data maintenance strategy

    Hi,
We are working on a global template to suggest Material master data maintenance strategy.
Please suggest what could be various options for same.
    Regards,
    Avnish

    Hello,
    In the same situation now:
    1.  Suggestion is to load the Basic Data centrally, say from HQ
    2.  Other data can be loaded via the subsidiary in the different countries.
    3.  If required you can use a block or a material statu and have the HQ control the access to the other parts of the material master.
For your information, we have come across a big issue regarding this and only now we have begun the above method as my client's HQ controls the release of materials into the market.

  • Material Master Mass Change

    Hi Experts,
PLease explain me abt the mass change of Material Master.. the detailed steps to be followed for the change
I know the tcode MM17, please explain the process in that transaction

You also have tcode MASS for more mass modification.
Use object type BUS1001 and generate. Then you have to know the tables where the field you want to modify is.
Pick the fields in their folder and generate again. Then in selection pick the materials or use other selection criteria. Generate again.
In the upper side of the screen insert the data and click the button 'carry out a mass change'.
    Save and leave.

  • Material Master for Maintenance material

In regards to a Material Master for a Maintenance storeroom Material, On the MRP 2 tab there is a field called Safety time/act.cov.
What is the difference between that and the planned delivery time of a material. I have tested both and they appear to do the same thing in materials planning. Can you tell me the differences between these 2 fields
    Thanks

    HI Yocoma,
The first difference I can site is that is in Workdays whereas Planned Delivery time is in Calender Days and is based on past experience

  • Material Master : how maintenance statutes works ?

    Hi,
I'm new to Material Master customizing and I would like to understand what maintenance statuses do and how it works.
What does it mean exactly if I add for exemple the maintenance status "V" instead of "E" for the screen that correspond to purchase view ?
Does it meen that the "purchase" view will become mandatory before I can sale some material and stop being mandatory to pruchase the material ?
Are mainteance statuses related to user authorization, for exemple does it tell the views I'm aible to display or not ?
    Thanks for help,
    Regards
    Morgan

Thanks for this answer but I don't think it solves my problem.
What you are talking about is using the MM50 transaction to see which view aren't yet maintained considering à gived maintenance status. Of course, if I don't change default customizing, using MM50 with 'D' as a value for parameter 'Status' will tell me wich material do not have MRP Views maintained.
But my questions a re related to :
    - authorization concept : do the maintenance statuses values I specified under "Configuring the Material Master u2192 Define Structure of
Data Screens for Each Screen Sequence" determine wiche user can access wich view
    - if i change the maintenance statuses related to a view in this customizing, what will it do ?

    Morgan

  • Unit of measure in Material Master after PO's created

    Hello Everyone,
I know that we can't change the material measure unit once PO's and other documents are created.
What can I do with the PO so i can change the material measure unit?
    Thanks in Advance.

    From OSS note 138767
Within the material master record maintenance, you want to change the base unit of measure (base unit). During the change, the system performs extensive checks in order to avoid inconsistencies in the applications which use the material master.
In particular, the following checks are performed:
The base unit must not be defined as an alternative unit of measure for the material
No International Article Number must be assigned to the base unit
No proportion/product units must be defined for the material
No configurable material must be assigned
The material must not be used as a configurable material
Stock must neither exist for the previous period nor for the current period
No physical inventory must be active
No reservations or dependent requirements must exist for which the deletion indicator is not set
    No planned orders must exist
No purchase requisitions, purchase orders or scheduling agreements must exist for which the deletion indicator is not set
No WM transfer requirements, no WM quants or no WM posting change notices must exist
The material must not be a bill of material
The material must not be contained in a bill of material
The material must not be used as a production resource/tool
The material must not be used in task lists
No standard cost estimate must exist for the current or future period
    No production orders must exist
No planned independent requirements must exist
No run schedule headers must exist
If the base unit has dimensions, no serial number profile must be assigned
No sales and distribution documents must exist which have status Not processed or Partially processed.
    Solution
If necessary, all reasons mentioned above must be eliminated by archiving the objects listed.

  • Changing Base Unit Of Measure (Material Master)

    Hi
    1. How to check this? (Any successful changes in material master only took place when there is no open document from SD, PP, MM & FI for that material. )
    2. Base unit of measurement cannot be changed.  The reason being material movement history is there in table - MSEG mainly which otherwise create inconsistency in reporting.  -
Is this line applicable for current period or previous period in current year or previous period previous year???
    3. There are no existing purchase requisitions, purchase orders, or scheduling agreements for the material. -
is this means open / pending purchase orders  or the the PO's created in system with respect to material where the GR and IR is already done
    4. You can change the base unit of measure if there is no stock of the material during current and previous period----
is this means the term " previous preiod" is previous period in the current finacial year   or its applicable for the previous preiod in previous financial year
    5. Post the stock in the previous period to the current period  - -
    how can we do this???
    Vijay

See this OSS note : especially the last sentence:

    Solution
If necessary, all reasons mentioned above must be eliminated by archiving the objects listed
    1) SAP checks this for you. A new button will appear in MM02 and after you click this button to check the error log, you will see which documents exist.
    2) I have not seen that an existing movement will restrict the change of a BUoM.
    3) No purchase requisitions, purchase orders or scheduling agreements must exist for which the deletion indicator is not set
it is not caring about GR done or IR done. it telling you that the deletion indicator has to be active. As a deletion indicator can be reset easily, you probably have to archive the documents
    4) the previous period is the period before the current period.
today we have February, hence the previous period is January.
    5) first make sure your current stock is higher than the stock of the previous period. if it is lower, then you have to create inventory in current period first e.g. with 202 movement with current date.
Then you issue the previous period stock with 201 movement and previous period date (make sure periods are open in OB52 and MMRV allows posting to previous period).
Finally you issue the left stock in the current period with 201 and current date.
Now previous period and current period stock is zero. After the change of the base unit you have to get the stock back into the system

  • Error during Mass Maintenance of Material Master

    Dear All SAP guru,
During mass maintenance of order unit ( PCS) and variable order unit "1" (Active) from T-code MM17, system is giving one error message.
Error Mess:  30000052280140 : Messages have been issued: number MASS000120000000 and notification No.:
    MK101.
While system allowing automatically to log through MM90, but after puting the log no.: MASS000120000000, system is not execting.
Pl suggest ....as conversation factor is also maintained in material master for this.
    Regards,
    Pinku.

    HI ,
    check note 487111.
    According to this note
    Symptom
In the planning data mass maintenance (MPGD_MASS), you select the "Conversion" field (UMREF) and enter the new value e.g. '2,01' and save the change. In the log of the mass maintenance, the system issues error
    MK101:
....... : Messages have been issued: number MASS............
    Detailed display of error message:
    Message number BF 020
Value cannot be interpreted as a floating-point number. Other terms
    Reason and Prerequisites
The problem is caused by a program error.
The symptom occurs if during the maintenance of your own user profiles, you defined "Comma" for the decimal notation (Transaction SU3).
Due to a program error, the system saves the value of the field to be changed program-internally in the exponential display with "Point" as the decimal place (2.01E+00).
    Solution :
You have implement the solution mentioned in the note .

  • Material master Maintenance-Mass change

    Hello All,
We have around 2200 records (material masters) for which the following changes are required.
    1) Where Valuation Class  is  "AAAA" or "BBBB" or "CCCC"or"DDDD" replace
all Purchasing Value Key with "2"
    2) Where Valuation Class is "NLAG" and Purchasing Value Key is "4" or
"3" or "2" then replace Purchasing Value Key with "1"
Kindly suggest which is the best option out of mass  maintenance(MM17), LSMW and BDC  ???
    Thanks

For BDC You have to depend on ABAPer and it will take more time to develop.
As you can easily view the maintained material master and you have already the required changes, you can easily handle this using MM17 also.
You can prepare LSMW also if you have some time in your hand

  • What are the views/fields that we can't change by Mass maintenance of MMR(material master record)?

    Hello friends,
I would like to know the fields/views that we can not change by using mass maintenance of MMR if there are open PO for that particular material in concern. Likewise there was a question in SAP certification exam having options: "base unit of measure", "material type" and so on....

in general you can change any field that can be changed in MM02. if the field is grayed then you cannot. e.g. if you make use a MRP profile. and in this profile the maintenance of those fields is disabled then you cannot do it MM17 either.

  • Mass maintenance -Material Master

    Dear All,
I have to change 400 materials (material description)  by using mass maintennace(mm17).In this 400 material, for example
    "cristal100-c1"
    "cristal200-c1"
    "cristal300-c1"
for three materials, I want to add "by vendor", for example
    "cristal100-c1 by vendor"
    "cristal200-c1 by vendor"
    "cristal300-c1 by vendor"
In mm17, i selected table & fields, in the new values column fields - how to enter????????
    Anyboday can help me?
    Points  willbe given more...
    Regards,
    Jaheer,Yanbu,KSA.

    HI,
I feel it is not possible in Mass maintenance. i feel you will replace many fields with a common field by mass maintenance. But you have to change to different fields which is not possible i think
You have to build a LSMW for MM02 and do the changes.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kiran

  • MASS MAINTENANCE FOR MATERIAL-RELATED EXCISE DUTIES FIELDS

    Dear Experts,
Is there any separate t code available to MASS MAINTENANCE FOR MATERIAL-RELATED EXCISE DUTIES FIELDS ?
I got this POINT from ECC 6.0 features in Solution browser.
    Please help me on this.
MASS MAINTENANCE FOR MATERIAL-RELATED EXCISE DUTIES FIELDS:
    Functionality Enhancements
Provides a specific transaction for mass maintenance of material related excise duties fields
    Business Benefits
Mass maintenance can now be performed in one step for material-relevant excise duties fields, instead of maintaining the excise duties fields in each material master record separately.
    Regards
    Soundar.G

    Dear Ravi,
I have already created LSMW for this in Material master and J1ID.
But i have checked in ECC 6.0 feature, there they are mentioning New t code is available for MASS maintenance of excise duty fields.
    Regards
