Hi,
Are you creating material in MDM using Data Manager or Portal. or Using ABAP API.
If your workflow trigger Action is "Record Create" then it should trigger workflow as soon as new material is created. I don't see any problem in this.

MDM Internal number Assignment

Hi Experts,
Need your guidence on the below scenario.
1. how is the internal number assignment configuration done in MDM ( where the number is generated as soon as you save the records in the repository)
2. ECC has internal number generation for FERT Material, and i am creating a record in MDM which also has internal number generation whose number range match with the ECC number range for material type FERT. what is the configuration required to syndicate the record from MDM to ECC ( as ECC has internal number generation).

Hi Sandhya,
Its a difficult thing to comment why the design is like this,there is a purpose why it is made such.
Suppose you create a Material in MDM system 100010002000(say) and ECC system is defined for internal number generation.
You send the material through PI to ECC as idoc.
And torrow MDM system goes down or there is a business requirement because of which you have to create Material in ECC.
This will require huge manual intervention and possibility of error is quiet high if Number range is defined as external.
Whereas if it is Internal (as in your case) ECC takes care of the number range and the sequence.
The ALE processing of idoc does not update the status of the current number range used.You can goto MMNR to check this for Material,xkn1 for Vendor.And this is the major concern with external number generation definition in ECC.

ECC & MDM as System Of Entry

Hi MDM Experts,
we configured ECC and MDM as both system of entry for material, the scenario was ECC-PI-MDM & MDM-PI-ECC.
1. when i create a material in ECC it successfully replicate to MDM
2. when i create a material in MDM it replicate but it did not return any material code equivalent to ECC just "New item"
can anybody help me on this.

Where is setup material code in your system?
I think in ECC.

Check your field material code
(i think it has type text and unique)
When you create new record some field (unique type) filled "new item", "new item2", ets. values.
If you want to generate code for new materis automatically you should use somthing like calculated field properties

in calcualted expression you can set rule for material code generation.

For automatically start assignment for material code generation you should create simple workflow
strart- >assignment->end
and set launch mode as auto, immediatly.

Hi Itzell T,
      While creating the material the unit of measurement which is entered is not existing in the SAP System. The unit of measurement entered during creation of material is cross checked from enteries of check table T006.
      So, functional consultant should take care of this issue just let him know the message.
   He know what problem actually is and fix the problem as Ankur had said.

Extend UNSPSC Hierarchy

We have one question in relation with the UNSPSC code ( the load of this standard hierarchy was succesfull in BW)
We have integrated MDM and BW. I extract the "global material" of MDM wich is associated with the local material (transactional data in BW) of the differents companies. This Global Material should be associated with UNSPSC code. However, the last level of UNSPSC code is the commodity. So, is there a way to add a level (Global material) in the standard hierarchy of UNSPSC code ? I need to extend the hierarchy with the global material level in order to put the materials associated with these commodities.
One way is to put the materials associated with the UNSPSC in other column for reporting, but I need to show the materials in the hierarchy form.

In SPM there is a functionality called 'Navigational Dimension' where you can link 2 dimensions together as a hierarchy. We have several navigational dimension that we provide out of the box. A good example is 'Time' navigational dimensions, it has 2 hierarchies one of calendar and another for fiscal.
For calendar the system starts with Calendar Year as the first dimension when the user click on any specific year, the system drills to calendar quarter, then to calendar month and so on.
In your case looks like you have UNSPSC hierarchy which is hierarchy of global material and second dimension is local material. So I would recommend to build a navigational dimension with first dimension as global dimension (which has a bw hierarchy) and second dimension as local material. Now when a user runs a report with this new navigational dimension, they would first navigate the UNSPSC hierarchy and when they reach the lowest level any further navigation will jump to local material. Below is an example hopefully will explain:

Syndication taxonomy to R/3 Classification

(This is point to point scenario)
Process is like that whn u create a material record in MDM and u syndicate it by using matmas and classification MAPs through MDM, it will generate XML at outbound port and R/3 wil read these XML from outbound of MDM.
Then It takes it as a IDoc for generating Material in SAP R/3.
There are standard IDoc structure availble throug which materail can be created in SAP R/3.

SRM Product / Material creation - Data flow to SAP MDM

Dear SAP friends,
I need your help with 2 issues. Thanks in advance for your collaboration.
Our client needs to create products and make them available to purchase almost immediately.
The scenario we had working for the last 2 years was: product creation in SRM (fields: short description / product category / measure unit), that would then be sent to SAP MDM for data enrichment, through BBP_CCM_TRANSFER_CATALOG (JOB running every 1 minute). This solution worked well for the last 2 years.
Recently, we are having some problems with this job. We noticed that, sometimes SRM doesn´t send the new products to MDM, and we think it´s a report performance problem. The report doesn´t maintain is normal behavior when executed every 1 minute.
SAP advice is to only run this report once a day. That would obviously require having a minimum time frame of 1 day between product creation and its availability (purchase), which isn´t acceptable in this client business model.
Question 1: Did anyone have a client with similar requirement? What was the implemented solution?
Because of report performance problems, we are running it (BBP_CCM_TRANSFER_CATALOG) every 5 minutes. It happens that sometimes, more than one catalog manager creates products in that time frame, and MDIS when importing the products to MDM, creates one unique workflow JOB making it impossible to assign it to both catalog managers for enrichment.
Question 2: How can we ensure that SRM sends only one product per xml files sent to XI / PI ? Or, perhaps, ensure that XI / PI splits the xml file sent from SRM into several files with one product each.

In product costing values flows as follows;
In product cost calculation raw material prices are costed which comes from material master in MM01
Product operations: i.e material BOM and master receipe or routings from PP module.From PP module operation costs comes in product costing.
In CO module: In Tcode KP26 we maintain activity\cost center planning for activities like machine hours, set up hours, labour hours etc.Here we define plan quantity and plan prices.
In Cost Sheet (KZS2) we maintain base cost elements & overheads and While order creation we calculate planned cost of that particular material.and then check the variances after getting actual cost of product.

Material creation process in SRM-MDM

Dear All,
I am new to SRM. Please correct me about material creation procedure in SRM if I am wrong:
Normally in classic/extended classic scenario, material first created in MM and then it replicated to SRM. Base on configuration setting for number range, system either create the product ID same as material number number in SRM when it replicated into SRM. In final steps, the product information will upload into MDM either XI integration or manually via excel upload.
My question:
+ Is it possible to automatic create product without XI via T.Code - MDMGX in MDM.
+ If the replicated product ID of SRM is different then MM material number, which number we should consider for creating product
MDM.

Hi Jennifer,
Answer1) You can only replicate Product Groups, Currencies and Unit of Measures through t-code MDMGX. XI/PI is required for Contract and Product Catalogs.
Answer 2) If the replicated product ID of SRM is different then MM material number, you should enter MM material number and in External Web Service Configuration for that internal catalog, uncheck "Do not check Product" indicator so that SRM will not check the Product ID and when item goes to backend system, it will have correct MM material number.
