Material search help in MM03, "=" or "MAT1"

Hi Expert,
I'm doing upgrade now from 4.7 to ECC 6.0 and have SAP ECC DIMP implemented in our system automatically because the same add-ons also implemented in 4.7 system.
I noticed that in technical information for Material number field in MM03 or MM02, search help for material number is '=' while in 4.7 the search help for material number is "MAT1". Anyone know why such things happen since in other ECC 6.0 system that I know, search help defined in material number field is still "MAT1". Thank you.

I have 4.7 implemented.
For MM03 the search help i have is S_Mat1 ---> which is under Data element -->Futher Charateristics of technical info.
For MM02 the search help under technical info is '='.
Data Element is MATNR ---> under that Futher Characteristics i have search help name S_Mat1.
I think the name given to the search helps are different but has no affect on its properties.
I dont think that upgrading to ECC 6.0 has anything to do with the search help.

Hi,
you don't need any exit / badi.
Go in VA02, in material number go in technical information : F1 ; F9
You will show there is no search-help link to the field. So the search-help is taken from the data element.
Go in SE11 and show the data element MATNR.
In the thirth tab you will find the search-help link : S_MAT1.
Go in SE11 and show the search help S_MAT1 (each time you could double click instead of reopen SE11).
This is a group search, that means, it contains many search help.
Copy a simple search help, modify as you would like.
Add your own search help in the S_MAT1, and don't forget to link fields (parameters).
You don't need any object key or user-exit.
You will affect all the screen of SAP using this search-help S_MAT1.

Problem in including search help exit for MM03 transaction.

Hi,
i am trying to include search help for MM03 trasaction based on MATKL(material group) WGBEZ (description) in the form of alv tree display.
Fuctionality i want to achive is :
1. after pressing F4 on MM03, it prompts to select material group screen, on pressing F4 on material group, now i am able to get the ALV tree display of all the materials and description based on the selection screen criterion.
2. now, after selecting one material group from ALV screen, i am able to map the corresponding value on the material group on the previous(intermediate) screen, but after pressing enter on this screen, i need to get the corresponding material to be mapped on the MM03 transaction, which i am unable to get.
when i press enter, it is again going to ALV tree display only and values arent getting refreshed.
Please help me in solving this.

This is the work of the ABAPer, pls ask them to do it.
Anyway here is the way ...
You can use append search help to add a new search help to an existing standard sap search help..

How to use Standard Search help

The search help used here is MAT1.
It is possible to use the same serch help in your custom program. You can either attach with the field in the table by double clicking on the field name in SE11 or in the screen painter. Double click on the field in the screen painter and under the attribute option (Dict tab) you can find option for giving serach help.

Search help for custome field with different data type

Hi Friends,
I have Created a custom table in which i have created a field is
ZMATLONG which stores material number.
Now the data element is zdmat which is of char 40..
Now i want to give search help for this field ZMATLONG..
I have tried many ways giving search help to this field
a) i Tried to attach the standard search help of MATNR ie : MAT1 but its showing me data type inconsistancy
b) i created a zsearch help and in the selection method i have used database table mara , again here iam getting the same error data type inconsistancy...
Now how can i give the search help like matnr field to my custom field ZMATLONG...
How can i do it..?

Hi,
MATNR ahs length 18 and ZMATLONG has length 40.So due to this u cannot use MAT1 search help.
best way would be cope MAT1 into Z search help. Then in the search help parameter change the data element of field
MATNR as ZMATLONG.
Now if you assign Z search help to ZMATLONG it will work.

I need to add two fields PLANT and STORAGE Location on the item level of the service order. These fields are not mandatory, and should enable the user to enter a Plant and Storage location.The storage location field editable and using a value help, this field and the plant will be filled in. The plant field is read-only. The table which contains the data in SAP is OFIC_PLANT_SRV. Based upon the search help OFI_SHLP_STORAGE_LOC, I will put both the storage location and plant on the Web UI, when the user uses the search help of field Storage Location.
I am using SAP CRM 7.0 and new to ABAP and CRM.
Kindly suggest in detail what should I do step by step ?

Set Parameter ID Value for Search-Help S_MAT1

How can I set the parameter id value of Sales Organization (VKO) as default to a user that will also appear on search-help S_MAT1 (material search-help)?
I have already set the Parameter default in SU3/SU03, used tcde SU56 and relogged-in but still not defaulting to a specific VKO in the Material Search-Help Field.

not 100% the same question. Is it also possible to exclude specific values for specific users in the standard search help? Is that possible?
Or other / second question is it possibel in the S_MAT1 to exclude values?
I only know how to include / select on a value but there's nothing mentioned how to exclude values or how to do a multiple selection. Is that possible?

Configuring the Enhanced material search in sales order

I am trying to add our own fields to the extended material search help scren in VA02.
- From the config, logistics-generail/material master/enhanced material search/define search parameters - and in here added the custom fields, whihc happend to be 'Z' fields that we have added to the material characteristics.
- the new fields then appear on the extended material seach screen in VA02, but they don;t retain the data inputtted, or work in the actual search
- AS part of this work we have also configured SES Material Master Business Object BUS1001006 - and setup our own 'Z@ class, whihc adds these 'Z' attributes to the material search help.
- THis all works on the materials search help, but not on the extended material help screen
I have also looked at the BADIs part of the enhanced search help, but these only appear to be called once the results have been extracted. So can anyone give any gudience on how we get the new fields in this screen actually working..

The problem was simple. The table include used field names ZZ, where as all the other besoke fields and data elements were just Z, so once we sync'd everything it magically worked

Extending search help MAT1 in MM03

Hi All,
I need to extend MAT1 . I have extended this by using the below fields.
MAT1W MARA-MEINS (Base Unit of Measure)
MARA- BSTME (Purchase Order Unit of Measure)
I am getting the fields and its values when i am testing as an individual search help. But it is not capturing the values into the transaction when you select the entry.Please suggest me how can i proceed with this.

Search help Enhancement for the Material Number (MAT1 - Search help name)

In my Requirement if the user clicks on the Material Number Search help(eg in ME51N - T.code: Material )
It will shown a additional Search help along with the existing one.
That search help would have input parameter fields as Material Number , Material Group , Material description , Plant and storage location.
The output screen has to display the Available Quantity for the input material, plant and storage location.
The available quantity has to calculated from various Tables like mard , mssq etc.
My question is how to display the available quantity in the search help screen, i tried with search help exit but not successful.
I am displaying the remaining fields(except available quantity) using database view from different tables like Mara , Mard ,Makt.
where to write the Logic for the Available Quantity to display it in search help.

Hello,
if this search help is collective then you could delete standard single (SAP allows maintain collective search help with out object key registration) one and insert custom search help which has the same structure plus additional field.

Search Help customization by user for Material Master--Jurgen

I found following solution from another message thread, the following is perfect for our solution as long as I can customize for each user (Plant is different).
Search help for Field MATNR is MAT1.
- Go to SE11 set radio button to Search help Enter MAT1 next to it.
- Go to tab "Included Search helps" and click MAT1_A.
- in that go to Tab "Included search helps" and click "MAT0M". There are many helps, this is basically the tabs shown when you press F4 in the MATNR field.
- In the definition Tab - Selection method - M_MAT1M is shown, This is the search help database view.
So first check in which Tab you do want to show the material that is marked for deletion.
Here i have taken - M_MAT1M, Material Number/Material Description.
- Click the M_MAT1M and it goes to Database View.
- Click Change.
- In the "View flds" Tab, include LVORM in the "View Field" column
- In the "Selection Conditions" Tab, Enter the following in the columns:
- Table - MARA
- Fieldname - LVORM
- Operator - EQ
- Comparative Value - ' '
- and save it.

We have several plants. However, one Plant materials are highly classified and they don't want any other plant users not even read their material description. So I thought by controlling their drop down (F4) list by Plant and assign custom F4 based on plant would restrict users in other plants.
I already locked materials by Authorization object, so MM03 is locked..but I have no idea to how to block others reading their Material descriptions

Custom search help tab for "Material" in ME21N...

Experts,
I have a requirement to create a separate tab in the standard collective search help that is triggered in F4 at the Material field in PO items for ME21N to add an additional search criterion for Materials by Material Group, there by reducing the number of material groups displayed.
Ex: ME21N -> F4 on Material -> Just like the tab "Material by Mat Group" on the collective search help, there has to be an extra tab for "Materials by non-taxable Material Groups".
Please advice on how I go about it. Using Exits/BADIs?

GO TO SE11. Under Search help radio button enter the standard search help name MAT1.
From menu clicke on "Append Search Help (F5)" and enter a name ZAMAT1 (Match Code by Material and Material Group)
Enter field names as follows:

Tab in search help MM03 and VA03

Hi experts,
I added a new tab in matrn search help MAT1 (MM01/02/03) and it shows ok. But in VA01/02/03 item grid, the search help for matnr does not show the new tab.
VAs tcode use S_MAT1 search help, but MAT1 is in S_MAT1 as collective search help. Are there anythings to do?
How I add a new tab in VAs tcode search help in items grid for material???

The item grid uses SD_MAT1 not S_MAT1 so there isn't a common collective search help where you can append your search help. Just append your search help to SD_MAT1 as well.

MM03 material search by manufacturer part number

Dear Experts,
is it possible to search a material by manufacturer part number (field MFRPN in MARA, appears in Purchasing view)?
If not, how difficult is it to adapt the search function to include this field?

Hi Sergei,
Have you read the IMG notes for the node Logistics - General -> Material Master -> Tools -> Maintain Search Helps? They explain how to add search helps to material master. The search helps by MPN available in SAP standard are included in the collective search help MAT1_MPN that you can append to MAT1.
