Material specification Vs Task list in QM

hi,
Can any one pls explain  on which instance i need to use material specification for the material.
or what is the prime differance or advantage in using Material spec over task list. especially for GR inspection of external procured components...
Need to justify the use task list/ material spec to client.....
Thanks in advance.
regards
Saran

hi saravanan,
You can inspect a material based on material specification or by task list.
Material Specificatin is used at client level
if the client has same type of checking for all the material across the plant then we can go by material specifaction.
If they have different parameters to check then we have to go by task list only.
there are many advantages and disadvantages in both the cases.

  • Non-stock material assignment in task list

    Hello members,
Can I assign non-stock materials in task list????
    If yes then how???
    Thanks
    Warm regards
    Rajat

    Rajat,
You cannot directly assign a non stock material to the task list. But you can include the non stock material in the BOM for the assembly(In case of General task list) or Equipment /FL object BOM.Once its included you can then select these non stock items into the task list component screen.

  • Problem with material group in task list

    Hi Experts,
We have created a task list with external operation assigned with specific material group, say 'x'. This task list  is assigned to maintenance strategy which in turn assigned to maintenance plan. This Scheduled maintenance plan has generated many maintenance orders. After that we deleted the material group which was assigned to task list and assigned new material group to the task list. But now system is not generating maintenance orders from this task list as it is giving error message that "the old material group does not exist"  Message no. SE419
Even though we changed the material group in that task list system still considering old material group.
Could you please help us to get ride of this problem?
    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Praveen

    Praveen,
The change that you had made on the task list is effective from the" Key date"date that's entered on the initial screen. That Is probably why this is causing an issue at your end.
Try changing the task list once again by back dating the "KEY DATE" on the initial screen of the transaction ,to a date before the "Plan date" of the MP. This should solve your problem. If you are not able to change this, then create a new task list with a back dated "key date" with all the other details remaining the same and and assign it to the plan.

  • Sample functional specifications - Equipment task list?

The earlier post of Teja provoked me to look into the other sample specifications provided in the ****************. The one I looked into is the equipment task list. I have a doubt here. I assume that the equipment is also a material. So why are equipments handled in a different way than to the other materials (using MM01/2 transactions)?
    Raghu

    Hi,
Please check the following information from SAP help portal:
Number Assignment for Equipment Task Lists and Functional Location Task Lists
Numbers for equipment and functional location task lists are assigned internally. When you have created an equipment or functional location task list, the system issues a message with the number it has assigned to the task list. The first task list you create for a specified piece of equipment or functional location will be identified by a group number and a counter number. Further task lists for the same piece of equipment or functional location will simply be identified by a counter number within the group.

    Aqueel

    Dear,
Is this quality Plan is back dated and Lot size should be 1 to 9999,999.
Why are you creating rate routing? check lot for 04 insp type in QA02.
Or for old material just create one new order and test it once again.
You can check the statuses in config.
    QM>Quality Planning>Inspection Planning>General>Define Task List Status.
You should find that "4" is in there with all the check marks on.
QM--> Quality Inspection --> Inspection Lot Creation --> Maintain Inspection Lot Origins and Assign Inspection Types.
There is a column called status. For each inspection ORIGIN, you can specify the status of the inspection plan. It appears someone in your system changed the 4's to an X and then created the status "X".

  • General task list: component selection from BOM - possible in batch input?

    Hi experts,
for the assignment of non-stock material to general task lists I have followed the advice from message[6115684|Re: General Task List Components;.
So what I have done is:
    - Include non-stock material in BOM
    - Assign BOM to general task list header
When clicking on the "Component selection" button in the task list components, I can select a component.
When entering the material number of the component directly though, I get an error: "Material type X and line item type L not compatible" (CO135).
I would like to upload the general task lists with a batch input recording, but I can't figure out how to select components.
    Any thoughts?
    Kind regards,
    Andreas

    Hello,
We have the same requirement to load tasklists (change & create).  We are using the function modules EAM_TASKLIST_CREATE and EAM_TASKLIST_CHANGE.  However, i cannot get a non-stock BOM item to process.  Has anyone got this working?
    Thanks,
    Clay.
EDIT: Found the answer - simply fill in the fields for BOM on the component (STLTY, STLNR, STLKN, and STLAL).

  • Material specification and Inspection plan - Task list usage

    Dear Friends,
In inspection type  Task list usage is assigned
    For Example
    inspection type 01  -  usage - 03
    inspection type 05  -  usage - 05
    inspection type 06  -  usage - 07
    inspection type 10  -  usage - 06
In my scenario i want to use all the above inspection type for a product
if i use mateial specification there is no any problem with my  Task list usage
If suppose i use inspection plan do i need to create different inspection plan with different usage
or is it possible to create one inspection plan with all the above usage
what about universal usage 03  can i use it
i try to use but system does not triggering inspection lot
can any one Suggest some ideas
    Many Thanks & Regards
    Raj

    Hi Raju,
All of first pls understand the concept of Task list and specification.
If you need to inspection any material in very systematic manner, where you will have well segregated operations where the appropriate Work Centers will be bind and under that hierarchy MIC will be attached. The inspection will be governed by some inspection points. And according the the same Samples will be calculated. When you wanna go with all these functionality then you must have to use Task list (Inspection plan).
And if you don't wish to have these functions then simply go with the material specification.
Now it comes the actual query about task list usage.
If there is a common inspection plan is supposed to be used for all the inspection types for your material then you can prepare only one inspection plan, put ant of the Usage to it it can be 05 or 03 universal. But what you have to do is,
Go to SPRO->Quality Management->Quality Inspection->Inspection Lot Creation->Maintain Inspection Types Execute and set the Task list usage as the same it is set in the inspection plan for all those Inspection types for which that common inspection plan is supposed to be used.
Note:- There is no any link between inspection lot creation and task list usage of inspection plan.

  • Where to assign task list to material

how to assign materia to task list, pls explain with t-code, im newbie
    Thanks n Regards
    Karad D D

    Dear Karad,
1.As said by our forum dude dogboy49, you can assign the material to an existing task list in CA02.
2.Or else you can create a new task list specifically for that material in CA01,by mentioning the usage as 1 and status 4 -
released general and the operation details like the work center and the timings.
3.If you want to assign this material to an existing task list, goto CA02,mentiong the group number and the plant and enter and
then click on the header key and then click on material assignment and then enter the material code and the details.
    Check and revert back.

  • No valid task list for material ""  plant "" for selection criteria

I am getting the following error while creating a production order:
No valid task list for material ""  plant "" for selection criteria
Does anyone know how to fix this?
    thanks,
    Scott

    Dear,
    1. Check in Order type dependent parameter - OPL8, select your Plant & Order type. In this check the task list, it should be N. then selection priority in OPJF settings
    2. Chek the routing valid from date for this material by CA02. The production order start date must be between valid date.
3)Kindly check the routing header.Whether it is for usage 1 and Release status '4'
    4) Task list we maintain in OP8B please check and come back.

  • Inspection Lot without task list

    Dear experts,
    I've this problem:
I've create an inspection lot without task list.
If I try to assing a task list the system give me the message "No inspection plan could be found".
But in transaction QP02 I've seen that the inspection plan exists and the material is assinged to the insepction plan correctly.
    Where's the error?

Most of the issues for a plan not being assigned have been raised here already.  I suggest you rereview the value in QA02 to see what usage the lot is looking for.  Than change the key date to one day after the date the inspection plan was created and assigned to the material.
Once you have double checked all the above, go to QA02 and click on the button to assign the specifications/plan and see if the lot is updated.
    If not, please tell us:
    1) what is the inspection type and origin for this lot.
    2) what are that statuses of the lot at this time.
    That might help us.

  • QM workcenter with material specification

    Hi there ,
I am using the material spec for a material to inspect. Can anyone please suggest me that where can I maintain the QM workcenter for it as we are not using the inspection plan
    Regards
    Kaushik

    Hi.
However, since you cannot predefine work centers in the material specification, but the inspection specifications are defined in the material specification, you must proceed as follows:
a)You create a material specification with master inspection characteristics.
b)You create a dummy inspection plan that only contains one operation with one work center.
c)In the inspection setup (Quality Management view of the material master), set the indicators Insp. with task list and Insp. with mat spec

  • Inspection plan Vs Material specification

What is the difference between this and their limitation ,,when we have to use Inspection plan and when for the Material specification ?..Any detailed explanation   please
    Thanks for the help

Inspection plan and when for the Material specification
Inspection plan is plant specific material & plant combination.Means if same material is used in other plant you can not have Inspection plan of other plant used.
Whereas when you hava material specs then it is not plant specific.Nce created it can be used for any plant.
This can be used when your specifications are not plant depeendent.

    hi deepak
As you know task list is ued for easy uplaoding of operation and materials ,in tak list you can maintain internal and external operation ,hence for both the operation you will give the appropiate necessary fields.like for PM02 you will assingn the purchasing grp, cost element, material grp
