Material to be packed in HUM

Hi All,
I am creating in handling unit in HU02. I am able to create handling unit successfully but the thing is after creating HU material still existing in Material to be packed though I created HU for the respective material.
Please find the screen shot of HU. As per my under standing material has to removed after creating HU for the material full quantity.

In our process we are not using WM. My basic question is after creating HU material still exists in the 'Material to be packed ' level.
Is it standard process?
why because when I select the material line item again and click on PACK icon the system is giving proper message as "material quantity is to be packed is Zero" and only empty HU is creating.
Please let me know is it standard process.

Hi Gurus,
In delivery packing screen material to be packed area ( bellow screen) material ( original line item) is not automatically displayed.
so user unable to select the material to pack with packing material.
I checked material groups, material types, all assigned correctly.
Is i misssed any area to check, pls let me know how to solve this.

Material master for packing materials for based on customers

Dear all,
       can any one tell me how to maintain material master for packing materials based on customers to whom finished goods r supplied.

Option : 1
Create your packing (VERP) material as per the Customer.
E.g.
Packing material   Product   Customer
200000000            ABC         XYZ
200000001            ABC         YZX
200000002            ABC         XZY
200000003            BCD         XYZ
200000004            BCD         YZX
200000005            BCD         XZY
Option : 2
If you are batch managed then and then only this option will work.
Create Characteristic "Customer"
- Assign it a Batch Class (023)
- Assign this batch class to the material
- Now as and when any transaction will be done on this material, you can apply the relevant customer to the batch and separate that particular by customer.

No item generated for packaging material in delivery - packing (how?)

Hi all,
I am trying to customize packing for deliveries. I would like to have the packaging material as a line item in the delivery. I know this is possible but I can't seem to make it happen.
I have already ticked "Gen. pack.matl item" in my delivery type. Also, I have selected in the packaging type "B Item generation in first packed delivery" for "generatedlvItms" option.
Now, in the delivery after I packed the items, no line item was generated in the delivery for the packaging material. The "No. of Packages" in item overview is correct and the status is "C" completely packed. Btw, I am using manual packing here.
Is there some more configurations I missed here?

I assume that your basic HU configuration and master data have to be ok because you are able to pack your goods.
1) Are you able to add your item w/o HUM (=not by creating a HU, just adding the material as a simple item) to the delivery? /For this you need define a record in T184L (where usage "PACK" is not there)/.
If you are able it means that e.g. your delivery copy control settings are ok (V_TVCPLAK; delivery type: LF and sales doc type: DL --> HUPM/DLN item categories in your case)
2) If you are able to
- create the handling unit manually in the delivery
- add the packing item to the delivery (w/o HUM) and also have the T184L with usage "PACK"
- item generation is maintained for your packing material time "A" or "B" in field V_TVTY-KZPGN
- plant determination for packing material type ("A" or "B" in field V_TVTY-WERFD)
it should work in my opinion (for delivery type LF).

Ordering more than one material from Vendor in a group or packs.

Hi All,
We are into Apparel business and we have a business scenario in PTO (Purchase to Order) ,, where the customer places order for more than one finish product in a packed condition - means more than one material to be packed as a single PACK and to be delivered to him.
We take the order and transfer the order to our vendor who will directly delivers it to customer.
My requirement is - is there a method in the PO where we can mention to the vendor that item 1 & 2 as single pack , 4 & 5 in a seperate pack , we do not want to mention to the vendor in the header text or item text.
Can some one provide me a solution.

Hi,
You please create IDOC for this additional information and sent it to him. There is a alternative way to in clude in footer text of document by changing in the smart form. But every time mentioning like this is not recommendable and looks not nice. Footer text generally ment for address. I hope this will resolve your issue. Thanking you.

Packing material consumsion

Hi ,
I am doing packing at the time of delivery. When i do PGI the packing material stock is not reduce. if the packing material is not present it also not giving any error.When I checking the Handling Unit " status " tab it is showing the field " HU storage location " is showing "Handling unit without inventory management".
That field is non editable . But i also want the inventory of the packing material .
Guide me . Where is the setting for that .

Dear Abhijit
For Packing materials, you need to ensure certain criterias.
Please check the following:-
1) Go to *VHAR,* you create the packing material type say carton
2) In IMG -- Logistics-Execution --> Shipping --> Packing --> Define Material Group for Packaging Material. Here create a group, say PACK
3) Choose the next- Define Allowed Packaging Materials. Here for Material Group PACK, assign carton (as stated in point 1)
4) Now create packing material in material master with type VERP and also Item Category Group VERP.
5) In Sales: General/Plant tab, you need to maintain the following
             a) for Matl Grp Pack.Matls   as PACK
             b) Packaging mat. type        as Carton
             c) Allowed Pkg weight
Save the master. Now while creating delivery, after selecting Goto -- Pack, ensure that you block both the "Pack material" and "Material to be Packed". Once you do this, click on "Pack" which is above Material to be packed (left top). Once clicked the pack button, system will show a message material packed. Now select "Back" button so that you will come to the main screen of delivery.
Now do pgi and check the stock of packing material. The stock will get reduced to the extent of you posted goods issue.

Process of packing
Path: IMGLogestics executionshipping--packing
1) Define Number ranges for Handling Units
     Here we define the number ranges for packing the units.
2) Packing control by item categories:
    Here we define if the items categories that we use can be packed or not.
3) Define requirements for Packing in the delivery
    Here the requirement for packing is set. We are using std requirement. We can create our own requirement for example saying that the packing is not possible if credit block exists.
4) Define packing materials
Here we define the packing materials that we use. the material master for materials must be created and the material type is VERP. In the sales: general/ plant view in packing material data the corresponding packing material has to be enterd in the packing material type field. Ex: you create packing material Z003 and call it wooden box, then you must enter Z003 in the material masters sales: general plant view in the packing material type field.
5) Define material group for packing material
This group has to be mentioned in the material master of all the materials that have to be packed. Ex You define a material group grp1, then you must mention this in the material master sales: general plant view in the packing mat grp pack matls field.
6) Define Allowed Packaging Materials
Here we define all the materials that are allowed for packing along with the respective mat group. Ex: You have created three packing materials (step 4)
a) z001: Plastic trays
b) z002: corrugated box
c) z003: wooden box
you have also created a packing material group grp1 (step 5)
Now you must assign z001, z002, and z003 to the packing group grp1

How to pack material (linked to a delivery) with BAPI_SHIPMENT_CHANGE ?

i would like to pack material into Handling Unit with the BAPI_SHIPMENT_CHANGE like in transaction VT02N
i have created my shipment with BAPi_SHIPMENT_CREATE : i see material with delivery reference in part of screen
"Material to ba packed" and my Handling Unit in part of screen "All existing Hus available for packing".
i want to pack the material into the Handling Unit but i don't know how to fill BAPI_SHIPMENT_CHANGE to pack the material.
is it possible with this bapi ?

and i don't understand the difference between these fields in table HDUNITEM ?
HDL_UNIT_INTO and HDL_UNIT_NO
HDL_UNIT_EXID_INTO and HDL_UNIT_EXID ?
i don't find a field like VEPO-VEPOS in table HDUNITEM ?

Packing Material Functionality

Dear All,
Description of Scenario:
I have BOM for FG(Finished Goods) with RM(Raw material) and PM(Packing Material), where Packing Material Being BOX.
In BOX we can pack 15 nos of FG, thus in BOM the quantity of BOX would be (1/15 = 0.067) to manufacture 1 nos of FG
But the production is not fixed to manufacture for 15 nos always, they can manufacture 5nos n pack in ONE BOX, thus when I do my receipt from production BOX consumed would be (5/15 = 0.333) wherein it supposed to be consumed ONE BOX.
How can I tackle this scenario.

Can't create Inbound Delivery for PO with Packing type material -- HU

Hi friends,
I create a new packing material, and maintain packing material type. And then create a PO but I can't create an inbound delivery by VL31N.
The error message:
No item category exists (Table T184L EL VERP V )
Message no. VL320
Diagnosis
There is no item category available in item category determination in the delivery (table T184L) for the following entries: EL VERP V
I tried to add new item by SM30 with T184L, but still more errors. So it doesn't mean there are erros with delievery type determination.
Any help?

What next?? Delivery packed and HU created in VL02N - packing

Dear Experts,
My Storage Location is HU managed buth without WM
Now, Created an Outbound delivery.
Packing done using Pack option from VL02N. I created a Handling Unit by entering Packaging material and saved the Delivery.
Please suggets me the what is the next step before I can make PGI?
I found an error message when I tried to do PGI for Delivery ("No HUs have been transferred for material XXX YYY ZZZ)
Please advise.

if the picking storage location is HUM managed then it means the material there is already packed and is in form of HU.
and when u are picking the goods from there i guess u r packing the material again by using the packaging material and the material to be packed and packing function in the Packing screen and then u just need to do PGI nothing else as I presume there is no Shipment doc
It seems the packing has not done properly in ur case. r u sure that handling unit is created ?

Packing materials that are in batches

Hi,
This is Vikrant. I have created a delivery document that contains a material that is manufactured in batches. Now when I go for packing, the quanities to be packed apper batch wise. For example if the total quantity is 20000 but it is manufactured in 20 batches, then all those 20 batches apear to be packed that is I get 20 line items of the same material to be packed. Is there any way by which the only 1 line item that is the sum of all the 20 batches can be genrated, so that packing can be carried out more effieiently ?

Go to IMG - Logistics General - HUM - Delivery - Packing Control By Item Category . In that Check the indicator for Automatic Packing Control for Delivery Item category.
Pack accumulated batches / movement type item
Specifies if for a batch material only the main item with the accumulated batch quantity is to be packed in the delivery, or if only items in which the batch is recognized can be packed.
If the field is not set to its initial value, only the main item will be packed.
When this indicator is set, deliveries can be packed automatically, even if no automatic batch split occurred.
If a storage location is HU-managed, that characteristic overrides this indicator. It is not possible to pack anything in the delivery regardless of its batch if handling-unit inventory management is in use.

Packing instructins not picked during Handling Units

Hi all
I had created the packing instructions with the packaging material and the material to be packed .
when i tried to create the HUM's with reference to the packaging instructions the material to be packed is not getting picked .
can some explain what could be the possible reasons .
I simulation tab of the packing instructions the status of the packaging material is " ? "

the steps i followed are
1) created packaging instructions using POP1 for a material .
2) Maintained POF1 - Create Packing Instruction Determination Record during this i checked and able to see the packaging instructions assigned to it too for STOC .
3) Non-Assigned Packing profile with STOC condition type exists .
still i am not able to pick the automatic packing instructions while using HU02 .
please correct me if i am wrong somewhere .

Packing is not done

Dear Friends,
I am not able to do the packing. I have configured the Packaging Material as CARTON and I have given VERP as packaging type. I did not do anything in the Material Master of 1482 which is to be packed. I have configured the HU also. In VL01N I have gone to Packing and then made two Packets. But after that when I am clicking to create HU, it is giving error message :
"No material to be packed found, or quantity to be packed equals zero
Message no. VHUPD026
Diagnosis
No HU proposal could be created, as no material to be packed was entered.
Procedure
Specify a material and quantity to be packed."
And the material and my Pacage Materials are all vanished.
Is there any other configuration to be done or what is the mistake.
Please guide me.

I did not understand what you mean by "have you configured HUM or not.". I have configured for the Mannual Handling Unit so that I can pack the material at the time of delivery. Please guide me if any other configuration steps are there or not. I got this guidance from the past thread of this Forum. I did not understand the "because you are using multi level pacing.". What is multi level Pacing?
As far as the OSS note number 420184 is concerned I could not understand the solution.
Please guide me how to solve this.

I have 2 queries
1) Have created separate Material Type Packaging for my packing material and the item category group used is VERP, my Orginal Material is getting packed in the Delivery Document, however the packed item is not coming as a separate line item in the Delivery document, I have maintained the item category settings for the Delivery Packing Material and also the packing Material contains stock,
2) The Plant and Storage Location for my handling unit need to get defaulted autmatically in the delivery document what settings should I configure for the same.
