Material to Materials conversions
Dear Team,
Client is procuring a material in a set. That comprises of some child
components. PR/PO/GRN will be done for the main parent material. On
some occassions the Goods Issue will be done for the parent material as
a set and other occassions the parent material will be split into child
components. Then goods issue will be done for child components.
Presently material to material conversion is possible only for one to
one relation ship. How to break a main material in to child materials
with one to many relationship.
Regards,
The scenario is like procuring a KIT and split it into components. There is no standard SAP solution for this.
There is a related thread. Have a look : [KIT purchase and stock updation of individual components;

Veera.if you want to receive 12 material from conversion of material A as 10 then oyu can not user direct trasfer movement type.

Cross-client material transfer with conversion.
Hi....
I have a problem to solve....i am supposed to transfer material data from client 040 to 041 with conversions. I am thinking to do it by ALE. what conversions i am supposed to perform is not yet decided by project manager so as ALE is not very flexibe in certain areas...is it worthy to use ALE and what would be another way to carry out this task... please help me in this problem...any article or suggestion will be great help of mine....thanking you,,,,Hi!
? Strange. At least not easy. Do you speak about a development system? Maybe you just make a client copy and some hard database changes. Won't be OK, but if you just need some data for a performance test, this could do.
Test for a migration? Try to stay as close to the final way as possible.
You might save the outbound IDOC into a file, make some search and replace (in easy cases even in an editor) and upload the file for inbound IDOC. Also a report for file conversion can be used.
User-exits for IDOC segment changes might be possible, but doesn't look like a good idea (one-time special rules, but coding for all the time and everywhere).
Direct table copy is out of scope (e.g. because of internal number ranges).
LSMW might be an option, too. As input file you could again use outbound IDOC saved as file (with conversions?). Then inbound conversion would be in a transparent and easy to maintain way.
Hope you got some new ideas,
regards,

Checking material availability during conversion planned to production orde
Hi All,
Please could you advise a way how to setup automatically conversion planned to production orders through material availability check, and in case of component unavailability to make system schedule start date as overall components availability date.
I also need that in case of material availability is unknown, SAP should not convert planned to production order.
thank you,

Material Ledger Data Conversion
Hi,
We are going live on Material ledger on 1st.July 2009
Below are the steps for the cut over task:
i) Do not open the next period 07 using MMPV in 1st.July 2009
ii) Make the backposting on 1st.July 2009 for June 2009
iii)Open period 7 using MMPV
iv) Transport the ML cosfiguration
v) Do CK40N & MR21
So if we follow above steps then point (v) can be executed successfully
for the opening price in July 2009.
Hope to hear from anyone soon.
Thanks.
Regards,
StagazerHi Stagazer,
I guess you have it on your list, but you didn't note it down:
after iv) and before v) you have to run material ledger productive startup and CKMM. Note that these might runtime-intensive jobs, depending on your data volumes, particularly in the purchase order history.
Following notes are interesting for that:
[ Note 384145 - Advice note on material ledger production startup|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/384145]
[ Note 398949 - INFO: CO-PC-ACT (Customizing/preparation production start)|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/398949]

Material to materials transfer
Dear experts,
I have run into a business process that I cannot find a good solution in SAP for, it's regarding the following flow:
1. We have a return receipt on a material A (this is an assembled item that consists of e.g. B, C & D)
2. After return it turns out that component D has not been returned
3. The stock needs to be adjusted in order to reflect this (Remove article A from stock and add B & C to stock)
4. The preferred solution direction would be similar to the 309 movement type (which does not work)
5. Our customer wants a very easy solution (because the work volume is quite high)
I'd appreciate your input on solving this issue,
Thanks, MarkHI
First thing you want return stock to whom and from where means you want return to vendor or else?
second you are saying 309 not working can you explain which problem you are getting for same?
309 is material to material transfer and prerequisite for same is
1) Both material should have same base unit of measure ( material D and can say material X)
2) you can transfer from unrestricted stock to unrestricted stock only in this 309 movement type

Unit Conversion issue for same material with Diff KPI
Hi,
i have a report with multiple key figures which form a structure.
Unit conversion for this report and all the key figures are defined at report level.
Below are the settings in place
Source currency: Data record from target
Target Currency: From variable ( Input variable in BeX report)
Conversion factor: Dyanamic Determination of conversion factor
Using Reference Infobject if available otherwise use T006
Reference Infobject: 0Material
Issue: For 1 Key figure conversion to TO is happening, however for other Key figure conversion is not happening for the same material.
Note: Conversion to TO is defined in BEX settings for Info object 0material and stored in DSO UOM0MATE.
Why for same material some key figures convert to target unit correctly and not the others?
See the attached screenshot. Sales Quantity is convertin to "TO" while Volume third party shows figue in"ERR" for same material.
Thanks
NayabHi,
Following reasons cause to your issue,
1. Unit Conversion is not maintained for that particular material in source system Material itself, so that conversion data data may not updated in DSO (UOM0MATE).
2. For particular transnational data record key figure value don't have any base unit or units measures, that case also you may get that error.
Request check the transnational data in your InfoProvider and 0Material Master data and DSO data (UOM0MATE) . Correct the data based on that.
Check the Master data test in RSRV for 0Material, if any SID generations was missed or not.
I hope this can be help to find the cause of error , based on that you can resolve problem.
Thanks & Regards,
Leela Krishna. -
Non valuated material and free materials
hi,
friends
pl provide me the difference between non valuated and free materials.
thanks
durga prasdHi Durga Prasad
Free material: These materials are valuated ,but we procure it free of charge. So while creating a PO for free materials then in the PO we can check the Free of charge indicator. Then if you do a GR aganist this PO,there are 2 scenarios ie
If the material is valuated at moving average price, then there will not be any accounting documents at the time of GR.But the moving average price gets recalculated since your stock level increases.
If the material is valuated at Standard price, then accounting documents gets generated at the time of GR even if its frree of charge delivery.
If we dont have a PO,then also if we want to do GR for free material, then this can be donr using the movement type 511.Transaction code is MIGO.Goods receipt with reference to others
Non -Valuated Material:This type of material is not valuated in any valaution areas.
(But if you are refering to non valuated material type(UNBW) then its different scenario)
Hope this will help you
Reward if useful
Thanks and Regards

Change in Material UOM conversion
Hi gurus.
good day..
please help.
we are using a material with uom conversion.
example
1 PAK = 5 PCS
we have been using this since the material was created. it has been used also for PO PR anf Contract creation.
Now user wants to change the conversion into 1 PAK = 7PCS. is this possible? what is the effect on the previously made PO and GR?
Thank youHi,
The change only affects the new PO created, as to the previous POs, there is not impact on those. But don't forget to change the purchasing price to the correct value!
By the way, which unit is the base unit in the material master data, I hope it's PCS.
Regards

You can try using MB51, use filter movement type 261. Add a filter for the posting date coverage.
Then proceed. Click on the icon DETAIL LIST.
Then click on the SUBTOTAL, add MATERIAL as a Criteria. The click the column AMOUNT IN LC.
You should see the total issuances to per material.
I hope this helps.

Conversion Problem in Unit of measure 1PAC=100,000 EA
Hi Experts,
I am facing the problem in conversion of Unit of Measures.
If some material has the conversion unit when we order to Vendor.
The Unit of measure is EA, the Order unit is PAC.
The conversion is 1PAC=100,000 EA
But the System is allowing as 1PAC=10,000 EA only and it is not allowing to enter 100,000 EA and throughing the error
Entry too long (enter in the format __,___)
Message no. 00089
How can we increase the characters of the Unit of measure. Like this we have some 50 Materials, I need to increase the length of the conversion spaces. How to do it, Please guide me.
rgds
SwamyHi
you can check this out the denominator factor is Stored in structure - SMEINH - field UMREN.
Best option is to maintain decimal place for the UOM , which is more easier to mainatin.
Even if you go through the note the same is explained. Please read below for Too large numerators and denominators
When 120000 CM3 = 0,2 tons (TO), you can no longer save numerator and denominator of conversion ratio 600000 CM3 = 1 TO as numerator and denominator may have maximally five digits.
Here, you must either select a larger volume unit or a smaller unit of weight: With DM3 the conversion ratio would be 600 DM3 = 1 TO, with KG the conversion ratio would be 600 CM3 = 1 KG.
Generally, the alternative units of measure and the base unit of measure should result in quantities that are in the same dimension since the conversion factors may not be larger than 99999/1 and not smaller than 1/99999.
Thanks & Regards
KK

Changing Batch Management Level from Material to Plant
Hi all,
We are investigating changing our batch management level from material to plant to meet business requirements.
SAP has pointed us to a note with a program to reset the batch level, as well as highlighting some things to look out for.
I've conducted the change in a playpen system and so far it looks relatively straightforward, with complexities arising only when characteristics exist, or when a batch exists in multiple plants.
Seems that batch master data is moved from MCH1 to MCHA, including the object link number to classification. Unfortunately it seems a limitation of the conversion is that the batch master data is copied to ONE plant only in MCHA, no doubt due to the fact the object number link to classification must be unique.
My question is this: has anyone performed this change before, and if so can you offer me any advice on what to look out for, or potential problems that arose after the change?
Any help or comments are appreciated.
Mark.hi..
first of all try this simple one...
You will have to delete all the materials, remove stock and then switch the batch management flag.
Or
To convert the batch from plant level to material there is Conversion Program defind by the SAP...
1. For all releases lower than Release 4.5B, implement the corrections and the modification in the report RM07CHDX as described in the correction instructions.
2. Create the report ZCHTCUCH, which is specified in the attachment.
3. Run this report in the clients for which you want to reset batch level to plant level.
4. Call transaction OMCT.
5. Check whether the batch level for "Batch unique at plant level" is set.
6. Implement Notes 821891, 944278, 950540 and 1091613 if you have not already done so (or you have not imported the corresponding Support Package).
7. Execute the function "Batch Level -> Conversion".
8. Define a plant for a plant view that may be missing.
9. Always execute the report in the test mode first. Analyze the error log.
10. If no errors occur, you can execute the report in production mode.
11. If you are working with batch long texts, first execute the report ZM07CHDX_TEXT in test mode.
try this out..hope is works,,
Thanks.. -
Procurement without Materials Master Records
Hi All,
Kindly guide me with the following issue.
I have created a PO for Consumable Material (Without Materials Master Record).Have given the Cost Center as Acc.Assignment too. However while doing Goods receipt It gives an error stating
"Quantity could not be converted from "2 to "
Here "2 is is the Unit created by me i.e. Square Inche.
I checked all the settings related to "2 but cud not resolved the issue.
It does not mention anything related to "From & To" Relationship of OUNs.
Pls guide.
Thnx & Rgrds,
SandeepHi Santosh it Seems that the Unit of mesurement which you defined as 2 is not properly maintained as it is recomended not to define your own units of measurements as they are under some patern like ISO standards and they are having some conversion factors also. So check it again .
