Hey Changing of Material Type is one step
Changing of valuation class is other
and underneth that changing of account is another attached to the valuation class.
The basic requiremnt will be that client want to change the G/L code attached to the valuation class.
If you have already done some transaction it is not fininacialy right to move valuation classes.
Tell in detail what is the requiremnt.

try following
table-T134 in se16n t-code and give your material type and not down KKREF=account categories reference
Now pass account categories reference in table T025,You will valuation class of your material

Material master without valuation class

Hi,
Is it possible to have material master (of different material types) without valuation class?
Also, is it possible to have only one GL account getting reflected for all these materials when we do posting (at the time of Goods receipt) irrespective of material types ?

It is useful in the sense that user do not have to manually do an Account Assignments.
For stock items, valuation class cannot be changed whenever the stock on hand is not zero.
Valuation class are tied to a G/L account.
A change of valuation class means a change of G/L account.
In FI concept, you have to debit and credit to balance the G/L account. That is why your stock must be zero before the system allows you to changed the valuation class. If it is not zero, you have to either transfer it to another material or do a dummy issues. After changing the valuation class, do a reversal entries for the stocks which you have transfer out or you have done a dummy issues

Single table/report for material codes by valuation class

Hi Gurus,
One of our customers insists on a basic way to find easiest way to list "material codes" by some "valuation class" values. I know it can be done by cross referencing with different tables but i wonder are there any single transaction that shows material list?

Price control indicator and valuation class

All SAP Gurus,
Is there any relationship between price control indicator (V and S) and valuation class?
We want to change the price control for certain materials from V to S and for certain materials from S to V.

There is no direct releation between valution class and the Price control.
Yes but a indirect relation.
it is by the maeterial Type .
in OMS2--we define the default Price control indicator.
in OMSK -we define the Material type and the Valution class linkage.
Know the Price control Indicator always triggers your value .and the way it has to be posted.(on a default value or a Purchase value on a weighted average basis)
and valuation class triggers ..where it has to be Posted.( GL account)
so it is how.
But there could some other implication of the chase of the Price control..becoz.your Previous period price and current period would implact.
you stock valution would impact.
so check all these before you Proceed

Link material type and item category.

Hi,
Can you brief me on how following setting in SPRO works?
Plant maintenance - Maintenance and service processing - Maintenance and service order - General data - Define default values for componenet item category
When i checked, this setting is to link item category with the material type and item category is defined based on the material type and maintenance plant. But what is the relation in term of the order type i.e. whenever i create any order with a specifica order type, the default item category should get reflected on the componenets tab of the order?
Is it possible?
Can you guide me how to do this setting.

Yes it is posible to make all order types item category mark as stcok item "L" as default value. Very well u can set it at following menu path under PM&CS Node

Material type non valuated affected stock update?

Hi expert,
i created PO by using account assignment "A" and material number with material type non valuated (just qty update). At the same time i processed GR, the result wasn't as like as i expected. The asset value was raised and the qty was updated in the warehouse.
Surprisingly, this result (qty update in warehouse) is also affected by using account assingment "K" & "F".
As i know, the business process by using account assignment means consumption and stock mustn't be updated in warehouse. So how could the material type non valuated's stock can be updated at the time i m doing consumption purchase? is there any config i miss in order to make it doesn't update the stock?

dear Friends
For what reason we need to create new material type and movement type ? this quesition is frequently asked by interviewer,but my answer is not exactly correct. Please tell me, why we are create newly. already I posted this quesition and got reply but no satisfaction with that.

Hi,
New Material type is required to meet various business functionalities of client. Depending on user department views required by client, field selection key required, wheather quanity and value updation is required or not and if so under which valuation area its required, wheather the business wants to have default value of price control in material master, number range intervals to be used and wheather its internal/external, account determination process etc are some controlling functions which may force a business to create customised or new material type.
Similarly new movement types can be created when the controlling features of the existing movement type do not match the requirement like wheather any movement type is required to move goods from GR valuated stock ( as an illustration), wheather auto PO/Auto storage location needs to be decided automatically, new account grouping and field selection procedure to be used etc are some controlling functions. As an illustration in earlier version of ECC 6.0 there was no movt type like 107,109 etc but since most of the business wanted to valuate stock when goods movement will occur from GR valuated stock , the above movt types was introduced in ECC 6.0. Thus business justification and understanding should be concrete to create new movt type.

Difference between Material type and Item category

What is the difference between Material type and Item category?
We can differentiate different kind of materails according to material type then why do we have Item category which is also more or less on the same lines.
Both can be considered as a terminology in SAP to group similar kind of materials.
Please let me know the exact difference between the two?

We can list out so many differences.
When you create a material master record, the material type you choose determines:
- Whether the material is intended for a specific purpose, for example, as a configurable material or process material
- Whether the material number can be assigned internally or externally
- The number range from which the material number is taken
- Which screens appear and in what sequence
- Which departmental data you may enter
- What procurement type the material has; that is, whether it is manufactured in-house or procured externally, or both
Together with the plant, the material type determines the material's inventory management requirement; that is:
- Whether changes in quantity are updated in the material master record
- Whether changes in value are also updated in the stock accounts in financial accounting
In addition, the accounts affected by a material entering or leaving the warehouse depend on the material type.
-Most importantly, Users can be authorized to create materials of specific material types but not based on item category
- Item category will define whether the material should be valuated for stock or it should be considered as non-stock
- Pricing is carried out based on Item Category and not based on Material type

Relationship between material type and industry sector

Hi experts
when using t-code mm01,there are two fields material type and industry setor in screen.Is there any relationship between material type and industry sector? I want to know if user be able to see the material type related to particular industry sector?

Hello
There is no direct relationship between the material type and the industry sector.
The industry sector is used only for field sttus maintenance (fields in display/optional/requierd entry) in transactions.
We will assign seperate field reference groups to industry sectors and deopending on how we configure the field references, the fields will appear for the materials created for that industry sector.

How to change material type and industrial sector of the exsisting material

There is an issue where user wants to change material type and industrial sector of the exsisting material .Is it posible to do so??
IF not ,how can we delete that material from material master so that another material with same number and required material type and industrial sector can be created.

Hi Rohit,
You can change the material type in MMAM trxn code if the material dosenot conatain any open purchase requisitions, open reservations & open purchase orders. Also material stock should be zero.
Remember the new material type should have same attributes same as old material type.

It is not possible to change Industry sector once created.
If you want to delete the Material, you can flag it in MM06 trxn code.

Tcode MB1B (Transfer Postings) material with different Valuation class

Hi,
is it possible to avoide tcoce MB1B for material with different valuation class?
Materia1 (001000) has valuation class: 3000
Materia2 (300000) has valuation class: 7900
I don't want allowed MB1B with Material1 (3000) to Material2 (7900).
