Material Type Authorization

Hi All,
I want to restrict a material type in purchasing documents (ME21N & ME31K, ME51N) & goods movement (MIGO)using authorization which is being used by different set of people.
How can this be done.

you can use Use Auth object M_MATE_MAR Material Master: Material Types and in roles assignment for T-codes and MIGO authorization with movement types.
i think basis can help you better in this case they can make the role according to the requirement.

We need to remove the material type XXXX and YYYY from the authorization group ZZZZ
We need to add the Material Type AAAA to the Authorization Group ZZZZ. "
I have no clue where a material type can be associated with Auth Group.

Authorization object M_MATE_MAR "Material Master - Material Types" in MM01

Hi,
We in CPS Energy are implementing VIrsa SOD conflicts on the roles that are in place in current SAP 4.6C version. The authorization object M_MATE_MAR is used by MM01(Creation of Material Master) transaction code & used at mutiple roles. We have restricted this authorization object by Material Type Authorization Group (BEGRU)as WMS1 & given activity a 01, 02 & 03 in a role. The same authorization object is used in Common roles also for displaying that is using transaction code MM03 (Display Material) but the activity & authorization group are ''. This '' is taking precedence over the the authorization object given in the other role.
Please let us know how to put a control on this authorization object which is used widely by large number of users.
Maintained Material Master: Material Types                              T-D119010802
Activity                       01, 02, 03                                             ACTVT
Authorization group          WMS1                                              BEGRU

Hi Sree, your role with MM03 in it should not have * for actvt if it is only a display role.
As it is a display role actvt 03 would be more suitable. That way you could have display for all auth groups, but create and change/MM01&2 would be restricted to WMS1 (and any other materials with a blank auth group)

AUTHORISATION ISSUE : MATERIAL TYPE OBJECT (M_MATE_MAR) NOT CHECKED IN MM01

Hi Gurus,
I created a role with t-code MM01 (Material Master Creation).
I would like to restrict the Material type to HALB alone (Object=M_MATE_MAR, Value =HALB)
when I assigned this role alone to an user.the object is not getting checked and its allowing the user to create other than the specified material type.
Can u guide me how to proceed further.

I got it probably. First of all the check in M_MATE_MAR is not for material type but instead is for authorization group. This is what standard documentation says:
Definition
Material type authorization for material master records
This object determines whether a user is authorized to maintain the material master record for a specific material type.
Defined Fields
Fields Possible values Meaning
ACTVT 01 User may create data.
02 User may change data.
03 User may display data.
06 User may flag data for deletion.
BEGRU   Here you must specify the
   authorization groups from table
   T134 for which the materials
   concerned may be processed.

Authorization for material type and material views

Hello all,
I would need to restrict a user group, in creation (MM01) and modification of material master, based of type material and material views.
The authorization, for each user should be:
- view, modify and create of all views, except accounting (B) for type material ZFER;
- view, modify and create of all views for type material ZOFF.
I tried to create 2 roles in PFCG with the following authorization objects:
1) M_MATE_MAR (Material Master: Material Types) ACTVT = *, BEGRU = ZFER and M_MATE_STA (Maintenance Statuses) ACTVT = *, STATM = A,C, D, E, F, G,K, L, P, Q, S, V, X, Z (excluding B)
2) ) M_MATE_MAR ACTVT = *, BEGRU = ZFER and M_MATE_STA ACTVT = *, STATM = B
but the effect is to be authorized, to all view for material type ZFER and ZOFF.
I have already updated the authorization group of the type materials (OMS2).
Is there a solution for this problem?

- Are both these roles assigned to the same user? then your purpose is not solved, It is more or less like giving full authorization.
- One role should be
M_MATE_MAR (Material Master: Material Types) ACTVT = *, BEGRU = ZFER and M_MATE_STA (Maintenance Statuses) ACTVT = *, STATM = A,C, D, E, F, G,K, L, P, Q, S, V, X, Z (excluding B) for view, modify and create of all views, except accounting (B) for type material ZFER. This should be assigned to one user
- Second role should be
M_MATE_MAR ACTVT = *, BEGRU = ZOFF and M_MATE_STA ACTVT = *, STATM = * for view, modify and create of all views for type material ZOFF. This role should be assigned to the second user.

Authorization material type in material master

I want to know how to restrict users to create/change Material Master following
the material type in the role.
In role authorization Object: M_MATE_MAR Material Master: Material Types.
I maintain material type like ROH , HALB , HAWA in authorization Group.

Hi,
Pl. check your role to users for the material master again for allowed material types. It should restrict the users only for the selected views only. This should be done for all the roles assigned to users in relation to materail master. (i.e. Create, Display & CHange). If you restrict the material type in create role only & it is not restricted in display role, then user will be able to create all the material types. hence restrict the material types in all roles related to material master (create, change, display) assigned to the user.

I am unable to find out the Material or the Material Type that is linked with a material authorization group (QMATAUTH).
Do we have a table where I can find the Material Types or the Materials contained in each material Authorization Group (Q_MATERIAL -> QMATAUTH).

'Change material' authorization by material type

Hi,
I want to restrict the u2018material creationu2019 and u2018change materialu2019 by u2018Material Typeu2019. We have a separate transaction code for creating Raw material MMR1. This tcode will be assigned to the user. The user should be allowed to change the material under material type u2018ROHu2019 only. The problem is we do not have a tcode like MMR2 for the change mode. If I authorize MM02, the user will be able to change all the material irrespective of the material type. Let me know how to control this.

Hi,
The material type can be controled through the authorization group in MM01/MM02.
The authorization object M_MATE_MAR checks the authorization group of the material type (T134-BEGRU). You will need to ensure that your material types are linked to an authorization group.
If you go into transaction OMS2 (maintain material types) you will see a field called 'Authorization group'. This is a free text field,
please, enter here something relevant.
Please see also the on-line documentation for the authorization object M_MATE_MAR (for example, in transaction SU03).

Is it possible to have authorization check based on material type for a particular MB1B T code with movement type 311 .
Or
Is it possible to have a restriction of material type for a particular movement type ?

Authorization Object for Material Type

Is it possible to restrict the user from creating the material master based on Material Type. If yes then what is the authorization object for the same.

Dear Mahendra,
You can definitely restrict a end-user to only particular Material Type thru Authorizations.
Authorization Object: M_MATE_MAR
This can be done thru authorization management. Consult your Basis person or follow this:
SU01 - Enter the user Id & select display button. Now click on the Roles Tab & note down the role assigned to this user Id.
Go to T-Code - PFCG - enter the Role name & select the change icon.
Click on the Authorizations tab page. & then Click on Change Authorization Data.
Now expand the menu tree of Materials Management: Master Data & further expand the menu tree of Material Master: Material Types. Now click on the change icon next to Authorization Group & select the required Material Type that you want to authorize the end-user.
This is how you can give authorizations only for a particular Material Type.

Creating Authorization groups for material types

Hi All,
I have a requirement to create Authorization groups for different material types we have in our company. Basically these are intended to restric the users from accessing the material master. Different material types needs to be assigned to differnt group of users.
So if we can create couple of Authorization groups, then I am thinking of assigning the material types to these groups.
I went to SPRO---Logistics general ---Material master -
Tools --- Maintain authorization and authorization profiles. TCODE : PFCG
Is this the right path?

Can anyone explain how to create new authorization groups for different material types. The purpose is to create a role and assign this auth. group to this role and provide that security role to specific users.

User Authorizations for Plant & Material Type

The requirement says
Get all the users having authorizations to transactions - QA11, QA12, MSC1N, MSC2N & MSC4N.
Then filter out the users to those who have access to Plant & material Type which are entered on the selction- screen.
now how to get those users who have access to Plant and/or Material Type entered on the selection-screen.

The authorization of material type!

now create a material (transcaiton code: MM01), need to manage the authorization according to the material type.
Please explain me all the steps to be required.

if u dont able to give auhorisation
restrict the codes mm01 and mm02 for all user
then
give authorisation for ur user with transaction as per materia type
like mmr1 for raw
mmb1 semi fin
mmf1 finished and so on
u can get the list of t codes from easy access material master
create special
reward if helpful

Control the authorization base on material type level

Dear Experts,
We want to control some users only can create or modify the material base on material type level .
For instance , user A only can modify the 'ROH' type material , he can not maintain any 'FERT' type material .
I set the authorization object 'M_MATE_MAR' in the user A's profile , but it doesn't work .....
System : SAP4.7 x 200
DB : oracle9i
Has someone can tell me it is possibile to control the maintain authorization base on material type level ?
Or give me some suggestions.....

Yes this works & the authorisation object found by you is also correct.
For the object - M_MATE_MAR
Maintain the activity 01,02,03
Maintain the authorisation group - each material type can be assigned to an authorisation group. In OMS2 , you can assign the authorisation groups to the material type.
For E.g if the material type is ROH- enter the authorisation group as ROH.
Ensure that the user does not have this object, As If this object is present in any other role with authorisation group as * then the * will overirde any value.
