Material Type Views

Hello Gurus,
I know that the views in the Material master can be controlled through the material type settings. I would want to know if there is a setting to control users from viewing a specific view in the material master.
Like the Warehouse guy should be the only person who would be able to update or view the warehouse view and viza vi the Accounting View and other views.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hello Mihir,
This can be achieved using the authorization profile in which you will mention particular criteria i.e. sales organization, plant, WHN etc so based on that it will restrict user to change/display the views for material master.

Hi Rakesh,
Up to my knowledge it is not possible to do view setting for all material type in one shot simply because it is material type dependent.
If trying to change fields in material master then use OMS9. This also material type linked to field reference group. And we can change the setting of field selection group in one shot. This will affect the material types linked to it.

Mandatory Views and Fileds for Material Types

We require the below, Whr can i get this. If any one hv the below requ pls sedn to this srcn dot ram at hot mail dot com
The requ is we need to know wat are all the mandatory views and mandatory fileds for all std material types provided by SAP.
When we create a matl with respect to one matl type its ask so many fileds as mandatory and so many fileds as optionsal and display.
I need to know.. whr can i ge this.. is thr any doc or link for that.

Authorization for material type and material views

Hello all,
I would need to restrict a user group, in creation (MM01) and modification of material master, based of type material and material views.
The authorization, for each user should be:
- view, modify and create of all views, except accounting (B) for type material ZFER;
- view, modify and create of all views for type material ZOFF.
I tried to create 2 roles in PFCG with the following authorization objects:
1) M_MATE_MAR (Material Master: Material Types) ACTVT = *, BEGRU = ZFER and M_MATE_STA (Maintenance Statuses) ACTVT = *, STATM = A,C, D, E, F, G,K, L, P, Q, S, V, X, Z (excluding B)
2) ) M_MATE_MAR ACTVT = *, BEGRU = ZFER and M_MATE_STA ACTVT = *, STATM = B
but the effect is to be authorized, to all view for material type ZFER and ZOFF.
I have already updated the authorization group of the type materials (OMS2).
Is there a solution for this problem?

- Are both these roles assigned to the same user? then your purpose is not solved, It is more or less like giving full authorization.
- One role should be
M_MATE_MAR (Material Master: Material Types) ACTVT = *, BEGRU = ZFER and M_MATE_STA (Maintenance Statuses) ACTVT = *, STATM = A,C, D, E, F, G,K, L, P, Q, S, V, X, Z (excluding B) for view, modify and create of all views, except accounting (B) for type material ZFER. This should be assigned to one user
- Second role should be
M_MATE_MAR ACTVT = *, BEGRU = ZOFF and M_MATE_STA ACTVT = *, STATM = * for view, modify and create of all views for type material ZOFF. This role should be assigned to the second user.

Material Type without Costing View(non valuated) in Billing Document

We currently have a situation where we have Displays ( non valuated- no costing view material type) being added to regular Sales Orders
In our model, we are also updating product cost on materials when the 1) they were subs or finished goods and 2) via certain billing types.
Unfortunately, the other non valuated display material type is being called when the billing is occuring and is causing an error . See KE4j and KE4c in CO-PA config as a reference
My question- is there a way to further exclude a material type from being costed in PA when it is included in the billing

Costing value zero can happen due to multiple reasons. Here are some of the things to be considered.
Did you check master data of material C to see if there are any costs for material C?
What are the valuation strategy for material valuation set up in the valuation variant? Is there any strategy that included price from purchase info record?
Is info record set up for material C in the new system that you are testing?
Did you check activity quantities in routing and activity rates set up in cost center for the period you are running standard costs?
Did you check the formula in the work center costing tab?

It depends upon number of modules that we will implement if we implement all modules and select all the views available for the material creation then RAW MATERIAL - material type should be used...

Material Master views for every material type

HI Expertis,
I am facing to the big problem. My requirement is to identify the Material Master Views relevent to the each and every Material Type.
As an example, for the material type "FGTR" what should be the required views to create material master?
From the MM01 Txn i found 36 Material types. Also found the standard views in "OMS2" Txn. But in OMS2 txn it gives me almost all the views in material master.
Atlease i hope to categorize the material types which are going to use same material views. So i can ask abaper to develop it.
these are the required Material types : MODE, FGTR, WETT, KMAT, LEER, LGUT, FERT, FOOD, INTR, CONT, IBAU, HERS, NLAG, NOF1, UNBW, HIBE, VERP, FRIP, PIPE, FHMI, ROH, LEIH, HALB, DIEN, ERSA, HAWA

You can ask your abaper to write a small program by using table t134(T134-PSTAT) and T132T .From this tables ,for each material type, you get all views.
User department Maintenance status

Costing view for non valuated, non stock material type

How to find List of views that material type supports?

How to find List of views ( Basic Data1, Basic Data2, Sales org1, sales org2, etc.. ) for material types.
is there any table or something to find.

You can search the function module SELECTION_VIEWS_FIND in this forum. You will get the sample code.
Apart from that if only you want to know what are all the views assigned to a material type and try to enhance it then it should be from SPRO.
Go to transaction SPRO.
chose Logistics - General>Material Master>Basic Settings>Material Types>Define Attributes of Material Types
execute and you will get the list of material types.
Now dbl click on the desired material type and you will get an area called as User departments. Here what are all the views are selected those views only appear while you are trying to create (or Change/Display) material master.

You can check the T134 table, in that we can give the required 'material type' and check for the values in PSTAT field, all the defined views code can be seen in that field.

Material type KMAT & accounting view

I have observed that in the standard system Accounting view is not allowed for material type KMAT(configurable material), why is it so?

Hi,
Configurable material is useful if you have a large number of combination of parts that go into a product. It means different permutations and combinations of the parts for same material. If you maintain a unique material code for each combination , you require a large number of material numbers. KMAT may be used in such a case where you maintain just one generic product code. A super BOM is maintained for such a material consisting of all possible alternatives. A routing is also maintained consisting of all possible operations that could be used. Typically configurable material is used in Made To Order (MTO) environment. However frequently ordered configurations may be planned with a material variant which needs to have a material master record. Thus Material variants may have stock and value. Depending upon characteristic values chosen at sales order entry Sales Order BOM is created. Routing operations are also chosen depending upon which BOM components are assigned to them. KMAT material is non valued and does not update the valuation class. So accounting view is not required. Generally FERT material type is taken with configurable tick in basic data 2 view.

Different Material Types in different Plants

Hi,
I have 2 Plant under a Company Code. A material being produced in plant A has to be sent to Plant B for further processing. I would like to maintain single material master for both the plants, but different Material Types. Material has to be treated as Finished Goods in Plant A and Raw Material at Plant B. Could any one please let me know how I can MAP it in SAP.

For the Same material Code you can not maintain two material types in two plants..
But you can make a Z* mat type with all the relevant views of FG & ROH..
For Plant 1 it will have all the views
and for Plant 2 extend only the ROH relevant views...

Free goods with material type = ROH

Hello,
i would like to give free-goods for a particular finished goods sales.
the free-goods' material type is equal to ROH.
when i maintain the free goods from VBN1, system tells me that "xxx Material is not defined for sales org xxxx with dist. channel xxx".
the pb is for material type ROH, i can't select sales view,
is there any work around except
1. changing material type
2. customizing and add view for ROH

You have to extend the ROH material to the sales area of fineshed products
Goto to mm01 & extended teh material
then try with VBN1

Creation of material in material type "hers"

Can anybody please tell me in detail how to create a material in material type "hers"

you can take eg: of Manufacturer Part Profile for this scenario.
Create External No ranges for Vendor Account Group MNFR and save.
Now Create Each Make like ABB as one Vendor in XK01 Trxn code.
Create Material Code original in mm01 with ROH material type. (for eg Transistor which is available with ABB & Seimens make)
Create material code with Material type HERS which contain only two views (Basic Data & Purchasing) and give Make, Original material No & Material group and other details and save.
Create a Purchase order with original Material, then it will ask for mnfg part profile then select the material and click F4 on it it will show you the created mfg part nos like ABb 7 seimes and select one and save.
Before this you have to Activate MFg part profile in OMPN trxn code.
And in Material master Purchasing View Select the mfg part profile and save.
