Material variant characteristics for Information Purpose

we need to add some characteristics on the Material Variant for information purpose only. while calling the configurable material in the sales order.

Hi Mazen,
You can have additional characteristic like usual characteristic and then exclude for variant matching. That way they wont be use for variant matching and will be separate.
You use report RCU_EXCL_CHARACTERISTICS to exclude characteristic from search.
Hope this helps.

  • Material variant replacement in sales order for Configurable Material

    HI
I am using variant configuration. In this i have created material A as configurable material and have Preconfigured Material B as its variant by assigning configurable material in MRP 3 view.
Now when i am creating Order for material A i.e. Configurable material and the characteristics values are same as that of Preconfigured material system is not replacing Configurable material with Preconfigured material.
    Please help me out.
    Regards,
    Anand.

Even after maintaining the item category MTAC(Mills Make to order config at mat level), the configurable material is not getting replaced in the sales order (va02). It is just showing material variant exists for the configurable material.
The setting in item category for configuration is.
Config. Strategy     01(Sales Order Strategy (TAC, TAM))
Mat. Variant Action  4 (Replace configurable material (Append and change))
ATP material variant 2 (Do not substitute if not completely available)
Structure scope      D (Configuration, poss. with BOM explosion)
I have maintained the stock for material variant as well to take care of ATP material varinat setting shown above.
    Please suggest if missing something.

  • BW Retail - Material variants

    Hello All,
does anyone knows a business content extractor for SAP retail that allows the extraction of material variants characteristics (color, size) in a similar way as the RIS is updated.
I know that these characteristics can be retrieved using a classification datasource. But I would want to know if the sequence determination (using the TWORD table)  can be achieved using a business content datasource rather than building my own exit or generic datasource?
    Thanks,
    Tom

Hey those fields are mandatory fields which needs to be populated in the bapi.
Please try to give some values in those fields and execute the bapi now..
    It should work fine..
If you need any further information please let me know..

  • Raw material not using for production

    Dears
I have a raw material which will be a line item for different FERT
But some particular FERT i don't want to this raw material is use for costing and planning and consumption
Please tell me how we can map this
I try  in BOM Item status we can select not relevent for costing as well as in material master can be select asP D ,But the problem is that in some FERT i will use this raw material for costing as well as planing ,consumption etc...
    Any hints please...
    Abu Fathima

Bulk material is normally included in the BOM for information purpose. It normally has not impact on planning, costing, consumption. Materials like grease, washers etc are used as bulk. For what you asked in your first post, bulk material concept suits the best.
You need to remember that if you set bulk material indicator in BOM (it is set in BOM only if in certain fert materials you don't want that component material to be planned costed and consumed) or material master ( for all Ferts), it will not get copied to component overview of production (meaning, you cannot see it in production order, but you can see it in BOM).
But you can make it appear in production order by changing the setting Excl. Bulk Material in BOM explosion in OPPQ  and/or OPPR. In this case when you create production order it will appear in the component overview and it will also appear in the order reservation but... movement allowed field will be blank , meaning you cannot post good consumption for the bulk material even if it appears in component overview. So it is not visible in MD04 or MD05.
Another thing to note is there is a third place you can set bulk indicator, you can set any material as bulk in component overview in CO02, it will not be planned, costed or consumed.
You do not control those things with item catagory in BOM
For R&D, the normal procedure is creating an Engineering BOM (Usage 2). But if you want to use production BOM's for R&D also, you need to go to OS20 and for BOM Usage 1 (for Prodution), change + to .(period)  and now go to CS02 and uncheck production relevant for the items you want to not to be considered for production (planning and consumption) and uncheck costing. Then check Engineering/Design Relevant. This should fulfill your need and also looks politically correct because you're just not bulking it out.

  • Automated Material Variant Creation

Is there an automated way to create material variants once a configuration is entered on a sales order, if one does not already exist?
Take an example, I have configurable material ComputerA which is a laptop computer. Say there are two possible configurations, 2GB of memory or 4GB of memory. Let's say that I have a material variant already for the 2GB configuration, and say that I called it ComputerA_2GB. If I were to create a sales order for ComputerA and configure it with 2GB of memory, then I could have my item category set to swap in the the material variant ComputerA_2GB automatically.
Now assume that I create an order for ComputerA but configure it with 4GB of memory. I have not previously created a material variant for this. Is there a way to have ECC dynamically create that material variant and swap it into my line? So the process would be: create line item for configured material, if material variant exists, swap in, if material variant does not exist, create the material master for the variant and then swap that material in. Is there any way to do this without custom code?

    Hi,
You can decide whether it is mandatory to assign a value to a characteristic on the basis of transaction code.
You must use [selection condition|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60/helpdata/en/92/58d455417011d189ec0000e81ddfac/frameset.htm] which calls the [user-defined function|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60/helpdata/en/92/58d455417011d189ec0000e81ddfac/frameset.htm]. In function you need to analyze sy-tcode and raise the predefined exception FAIL for those when you don't want to assign a value to a characteristic (e.g. mm01, mm02). Contact your ABAP team to create such a function.
Don't tick the characteristic as required entry in class definition but assign this selection condition to this characteristic in class.

  • Material available date for a schedule line

    Hi all,
I got a requirement of manupulating the material availability date in a scheduling agreement (preferably, customer specific).
For Example : Suppose I  created a scheduling agreement for customer 1 coming under route 1 (and the route1 is defined as a transit time of 1 day ) with the scheduled delivery dates of  12.09.2007 and 14.09.2007; system consider the route value and proposes 11.09.2007 and 13.09.2007 as the material available date for the purpose of MD04, VL10 etc.
For some customers using the same route no 1, I need an additional day for my preparation, i.e for the above example, I need the system to propose 10.9.2007 and 12.09.2007 as the material availability data for MD04, VL10.
How to achieve this, I dont find any field in the customer master for this purpose.
Can some one suggest some solution, it is an urgent requirement.
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards
    Ajit Patro

you have to change either route(CREATE  new route with tranportation lead time) or use another shipping point ( preferable) by  maintaining another shipping condition for these customer ( maintain shipping times), this will solve your pro

  • How to find the list of material variant based on the characteristics value

    Hi
We are creating materials variants for FERT Material Type in material master in MRP-3 view .There we configure the variant by attaching characteristics value
Now we want to have a report , which can give the list of material variants , if char value is given in selection
Can somebody guide me if there is standard report for this OR what is the linkage in Table , so that we can develop a report
    rgds
    Sandeep

I couldn't find a standard report to get the material variants based on characteristic values (the nearest I could find was CT12) but I wrote a report some time back here's the table join logic for the main select statement.
    select a~matnr
            e~atwrt
            h~atwtb
    into table i_tab
          from MARC as a
          inner join IBIN as b
          on b~instance eq a~cuobj
          inner join IBIB as c
          on c~ibase eq b~ibase
          inner join IBINVALUES as d
          on d~in_recno eq b~in_recno
          inner join IBSYMBOL as e
          on e~symbol_id eq d~symbol_id
          inner join CABN as f
          on f~atinn eq e~atinn
          inner join CAWN as g
          on g~atinn eq e~atinn
          and g~atwrt eq e~atwrt
          inner join CAWNT as h
          on h~atinn eq g~atinn
          and h~atzhl eq g~atzhl
         where     a~matnr in s_matnr
                and e~atinn in s_atinn
                and e~atwrt in s_atwrt
and b~valto eq '99991231235959'. "This is important condition
I included bare minimum fields to suite your requirement needs you can add whatever other field you want . Though I tested the table join, I suggest you to test it again before writing your own ABAP program using SE16N.

  • Transfer of characteristics values from material variant to its subordinate

    Gurus
Need your Expert opinion on Variant configuration
We are using Multi level Material Variants and our bussiness process demands for configuration of These Material variants in Transaction MD81 and during creation of Sales order .These configuration will not affetc the BOM explosion but will only be passed to the The lower level components (Which are again theMulti level Configuriable  Material variants ) as manufacturing instructions .To Enable these Flow of Characterisitcs we have Applied a Note which allows the Multi level Configuration of Material Variants and Pass this Values to lower Level and the characteristics value flow is visible as well for lower level from CU50 ,but when i create the requirement through  CIR or sales order and Configure the Material Variants  and Generate the Procurement Proposals to fullfill these requirements (MD02) in the form of Planned order  we are unable to pass one the Characterisitcs values to planned orders of  lower level Components of Material Variants .These characterisitc values are Used as Manufacturing Instructions and should be passed on to the Lower level of Material Variants through the use of dependencies in Configuration profile .but the problem is it works in CU50 and does not flow in planned orders , does any body have a solution for this ?
    Thanks In Advance
    awaiting reply
    Milind

    Hi Milind,
I check that you implement a Note which allows the Multi level Configuration of Material Variants? is it sap note? mind to share the number.
I ever faced this problems to before but fortunately the case in simpler so i just create another variant and maintain the component for the variant. For example : characteristic color. I create variant with color red black etc. For variant red, maintain component red. For variant black maintain component black, so on. Is it possible for your case?

  • BAPI FOR CREATION OF MATERIAL VARIANT IN SAP

    Dear All,
Can anoy one please provide me name of BAPI to create material variant. This is required when we create material variant for a configurable material, characteristics values are added in MRP 3 View  .

i am not clear what youn are looking for.
    Say material X is KMAT,
Material Y you have created as a variant of X by entering the conf material X in MRP3 view and setting the char values
Material Z you have created as a variant of X by entering the conf material X in MRP3 view and setting the char values different than Y
Now Y and Z are material variants of X, now tell me exactly what you are looking for?

  • Variant configuration  for material in sap B1

    Hi,
Please explain how item variants can be configured in SAP B1 against materials like SAP R3.
Noramlly all the attributes of amaterial cannot be incorporated in material code which are to be filled at the time of transaction in sale order. Every material is associated with a class which constitutes some characteristics . Those characteristics contain some pre defined value in variant.
Please explain if there is any scope of it in SAP B1.
    Regards
    Indranil

    Hi
There is huge gap is there between R3 and SBO. u cant expect same thing in SBO which in R3.
Basic things SBO is gud for lite manfg company, traders. if u r looking for heavy manfg company then u have to look for addons r SDk with SBO.
Basically in SBo u can segrregrate the items by one item group only, & using some properties & udfs u can make subgroups.
Pls check this thread Slightly same kind of req.:

  • Table relation for material and characteristics value

    Hi,
I am looking for the tables which contain the material and characteristics values. e.g. For a particular material what are the characteristics available and what are their uniq values. It will be great if you could provide me the tables name along with the link key (foreign key) between the material no and it's characteristics. Even though I have tried ausp & other tables but I could not find the uniq for a particular material. All answers are appreciable.
    Thanks in advance..
    Pradeep

    Hi Pradeep,
    You can check these tables
INOB, KSSK, KLAH, CABN, CAWN and AUSP.

  • Sales order costing for Configured Material (Material Variant Not KMAT Mat)

    Hi All
For a Configured Material (Variant) (Not KMAT Material), which is having Std price costed.
But if we create a Sales Order for the Configured Material, what options are availale to Execute Sales order costing and take the sales order value to COGS during Delivery.
The reason being Client wants to Cost BOM items are price which is different from the Price used in Std cost estimate due to Price Volatility.
I can understand we can do this in KMAT, but not sure how to do in Conifgured material. We can execute sales order costing and get Statistical cost value in EK02/EK01, but how to get this value posted during PGI..?
    Thanks
    Aravind

    Hi Ajay
Even if i maintain M in Valuation filed, my Material Variant HALB material is already having standard cost in its material master and it is picking the std cost during PGI Delivery and hitting COGS A/c.
Now how to get my sales order costing to real and post my sales order costing value to GI..this is the client requirement.
Due some complication KMAT is not used and logistics go with Material Variant

  • Dummy characteristics for pricing variant characteristics of BOM- SDCOM-VKO

    Hi,
I was trying to create a dummy characteristic OPTICAL_LENS_VP for the characteristic OPTICAL_LENS. While doing that I wanted to enter the Table and Field info SDCOM and VKOND respectively in the tab Addnl Data. However, on doing F4, I do not see the table SDCOM. I tried searching by clicking on the button "SAP Applications" without any luck. Could some one help me please. BTW, the TC for creating a characteristic is CT04.
    Thanks,
    -Prashanth

Once you save the characteristic, the reference to table name & field name are disabled.
If you want, this characteristic could be deleted or create a new one.
For example lets say create a characteristic ZPRICE.
Go directly to Addl data tab and in Table name field enter SDCOM and Field name enter VKOND. [Don't use search button].
    Click enter.
You would get a message 'Formatting data taken from data dictionary' and once you click continue, system populates the required fields.
The reason why we use this is because:
In SD, you can use variant conditions to define surcharges and discounts for configurable materials, depending on the characteristic values you assign. For example If a customer wants a car with a sunroof, the net price is increased by a surcharge of $2000.
You create variant conditions with reference to a material, a distribution channel, and a sales organization.
To create a variant condition, there is a pre-requisite which is that you should have created a characteristic that refers to table SDCOM, field VKOND.
This characteristic (in our case ZPRICE) is assigned to the variant class for the configurable material.
An object characteristic with a reference to the table SDCOM field VKOND is multivalue because several variant conditions can be entered.
In simple terms variant pricing is taking place because of reference to SDCOM table & VKOND field.
SDCOM is a structure in development class 'CU' and Appl component LO-VC

  • Material variant not found when configuring an item on a sales order...

My client has been using Configurable Materials and Material Variants for several years.  At times, when entering a sales order on a Configurable material, the Material Variant is NOT displayed, even though the values entered for characteristics exactly match that of a Variant.
I suspect that the "link" between the Configurable material and the Material Variant has been broken, perhaps due to changes made to one of the material masters.  I've found that I can restore this "link" by changing the configuration of the Material Variant (MM02 transaction, the MRP3 tab, "Configure variant" button).
    (1) Can you tell me under what circumstances the "link" between Configurable and Variant gets broken?  In other words, are there certain fields on the Material master which, when changed, break this link?  If so, which fields?
    (2) Can you tell me how to identify those Material Variants which have a broken "link" (eg, those which do not link back to a Configurable material, for sales order entry purposes)?  Is there an ABAP or such to restore all such broken links?

Hello and thanks for your response.  I've searched OSS and had found several informative notes (900732, 774346), though none seem to deal with my problem.  If you know of a note I'd much appreciate the lead...   (:
