Mathematical Functions in Pages

Hey Ya'll
Just started a degree course in Civil Engineering. My whole school is working in Word ~ God can you believe it...!! Anyhow, just trying to work through pages to see if it will be compatible ( and in most cases it is as I can save all docs in Word). But what about complex mathematical equations & functions. In WORD you can create the most outrageous functions and equations but in pages you can only add, subtract and the other easy stuff. Is there a program out there that will allow me to keep working in pages but use the complex stuff as well or should I just throw in the towel and buy Office??

The result is awful !
But, if I understood well the OP's question, it was not about a formula editor but about the ability to create complex formulas in table's cells.
But what about complex mathematical equations & functions. In WORD you can create the most outrageous functions and equations but in pages you can only _add, subtract and the other easy stuff_ .
But maybe I am wrong.

John suggestion would work. Another option is to define it in EL using #{row.quantity * row.unitPrice} as the outputText value. Then add a numberConverter to the outputText using type="currency". The best option, imho, is to define the totalAmount attribute on the VO and implement the product there. However, keep the converter on the inputText and don't use the display hints on the VO.

I am using Jdeveloper 10.1.3.3. I need to insert mathematical functions like "multiply,divide,power" etc in my mapping. But in the XSL i am getting all string functions and very few math functions for number.
I am newbie in Jdev. Please if anyone can share how this can be done.

The RfcAdapter trys to find a Sender Agreement for this RFC call but the lookup failes. The values used for this lookup are:
Sender Party/Sender Service: The values from Party and Service belonging to the sender channel.
Sender Interface: The name of the RFC function module.
Sender Namespace: The fix RFC namespace urn:sap-com:document:sap:rfc:functions
Receiver Party/Receiver Service: These fields are empty. This will match the wildcard

Create a mathematical function out of samples

hello
I'd like to know how can i create a mathematical function out of
samples of a signal (sine wave for example ) .
the samples (around 1000 samples) are known( taken from a text file),
and also the time between every sample is known.

What you are probably looking for is fitting experimental data to a model function.
LabVIEW has many fitting algorithms built-in and it depends on the desired function to decide what is best. You can fit to a line, polynomial, or exponential, etc., or you can use levenberg-marquardt for more complex models.
If you want to fit to a single sine function, you could use "Extract single tone".

but they don't work.

The variable appo_dec always is zero.
This code work in a report but not work in a class method.

Well, so your variable probably becomes empty somewhere before calling FRAC...

yes, refer to the help, but only found information on the first option "linear". what I intend to is to be able to climb a number, using one of the existing scales, but don't be that mathematical function is necessary to use.

Smaller increments of function shift page up/down

Hello, I posted a question earlier and thanks to dekkoman for answering it, heres a 2nd part to that question.......i'm now able to scroll through the timeline during play by pressing function shift page up/down, however it does so in big increments, i was wondering if there was a way to do it in smaller increments....I can do it in smaller increments by hitting shift & scroll on my mouse however that only works when the movie is paused.

Shortcuts that work while playing in the timeline:
shift-pageUp, shift-PageDown: to scroll left and right
cmd-ì or cmd-+ (keypad): to zoom in
cmd-' or cmd-- (keypad); to zoom out
shift-Z to zoom out to the full timelne
Before using the zoom in/out command it's better to deselect any clip, otherwise the zoom is not centered to the playhead.

Can not add function to pages-document created with Applescript

If I create new document using the GUI (New document) I can place the cursor within any table-cell, type "=" (equal sign) and f.e. "2+2" which will result in a cell showing a "4".
If I create a document with Applescript, I can not add new functions (neither by typing = nor by using Insert >> Function (may be different, I have German version here). Already existing functions (which already were in the template) can still be used and work as expected but can not be altered.
Any idea?

I apologize but the given script can't run.
The variable templateName is undefined.
The variable angebotsNr is undefined too.
About the described behavior, it's a bug which I never discover before.
It's always striking in Pages '09.

Application Builder: What is the significance/function of "page sequence"?

Because we are always pressed for time, I have developed the nasty habit of glossing over things that may be opaque to me, with the mental reservation that I will re-visit the issue "when things calm down".
One of those opaque things is the function, significance, or use of "sequence" in the context of APEX Application Builder and application pages.
I am working through the Oracle-By-Example application labeled OBE_PROJECTS. I have created the Master-Detail form, but it has not come out as expected. According to the instructions, when I created the page, I designated the home page as its parent. Yet, when I run the application, the icon for the master-detail form does not appear.
I assume that I've fat fingered something when I built the page and attempt to correct it. I think that the answer will lie in the task "Reparenting page hierarchy". When I look at the "Create/Edit Breadcrumb Entry page", I see in the "Entry" region, that the Parent Entry is, indeed, correct ... that is "Home (Page 1)". On the other hand, the text box labeled "Sequence" is set to "10". And this is the same value as the Home Page itself. Can that be correct? Shouldn't my Master-Detail page have a sequence number subordinate to the Home Page?
Any help/elucidation will be appreciated.

I hadn't gotten that far yet. I'm still following OBE script and accessing the page from the "Run Page" icon in application builder.
The issue itself, pages not showing up, is solved for me. I had anticipated that simply declaring the parent of Master-Detail page to be home page would automagically make those objects appear on the home page.
Slogging through the Oracle By Example, I learn that one must actually edit the home page to have them appear (how barbaric!)
But, the question of exactly what "page sequence" means and how it's supposed to be used is still there.

Tab Function in Pages for iPad moved?

Was using pages for ipad today, and I used to use a tab function from the top menu bar by hitting a button that looks like an align button and it allowed for page breaks and tab functions.
I think I updated pages, and now I have to hold down as if I were to select a word or words, use the insert function, and then get to Tab/Page Break.
Is there a way to change this preference? It was so much easier the with the menu bar button!

I am trying to create a simple table, with varying column widths, eg Year Month Day Description. After going through the very limited options in Pages and doing plenty of Googling I have come to the conclusion that Apple doesn't allow you to have varying column widths in a single table :-( So I tried to create a custom table by using tabs, ie Year <hold, insert, tab> Month <hold, insert, tab hold, insert, tab> Day <hold, insert, tab> Description = 4 tabs = 12 steps :-( A Tab button on the keyboard would've been great, but the Ipad keyboard doesn't have one :-( neither do they allow me to customize my keyboard :-( I found software that seems to be able to do what I need but Apple says I'm not allowed to purchase the software in my country :-(

Warning when calling function using page text

I have a function in package which generates some parameters for a link I want to put on bottom of the View Form.
The HTML I put in the bottom of View Form user text field looks like this:

The problem is that Desinger throws a warning when I try to generate and the auto-install option gets ignored due to this error...
Can I set Designer to ignore this "parse error", so that the auto-install works again?

Calling a stored workspace procedure/function in page template

I have an unusual puzzle. I am trying to find a way to call a stored procedure or function in a page template; ie, through HTML/javascript.
I maintain a website with several dozen applications and I currently have the page templates in all of these applications subscribed to one master template, so that changes can be made in one place and implemented across all the applications. So far, the only content I can display on every page in every application through page template subscription is static content; dynamic content (ie content generated based on data in the database) is implemented page-by-page (or application-by-application).
I'm wondering if there is a way to call stored procedures/functions from the page template to create dynamic content (based on the :APP_USER identity, for example). htmldb_Get() doesn't seem to be helpful, because as far as I can tell it only calls on-demand application processes, not workspace procedures/functions.
Is there any way at all that a workspace procedure/function can be called directly from the page template (eg with a javascript function of some kind)? Again, I am trying to avoid having to use any application/page-level apex entities (items, processes, etc) so that I can just put the javascript or whatever in the page template and refresh all the applications in my workspace.

TAB functionality(next page) in BDC recording process?

I am trying to record a transaction using SHDB for BDC,
in recording process I am selecting records in popup screen and that screen will be having 9 records all the time and after selecting 9 records when I press tab(for going into second page) that TAB functionality is not recording.
