Matrix Display (two extra monitors) on GT70 0NE - GTX 680M?

Hi there, I'm really intersted on setting up multiple display on my GTX 680M - 4GB. Is it possible?
I would like to connect two extra monitors...
Does any one knows if the driver for the most recent laptops can be used on my laptop?

The 680M only supports 2 outputs (ie laptop monitor + 1 external monitor).
No it will not allow 2 external monitors. Sorry.

  • MSI GT70-OND + GTX 680m or 8970m

    Hi!
    Looping for some serious help...
After some erratic behavior my i7 3rd gen GT70 just stopped working with MSI 680m 4GB. The card shows on occasions in manager, but both - discrete and HD4000 have no installed drivers and wont work unless 680 is plugged out (then intel kicks in without prob). That happened after some automatic driver updates and possibly BIOS update. Tried a ton of these and Bioses, rather randomly, trying to solve the disappearance of my 680m from control panel, but non of them worked. To make the things worse, I've messed with EC firmware editions trying the "beta" t25,21,16,17 - one of them bricked the lappi for good... Had MSI re-flash the bios (couldn't do the blind flash myself) but they say they can't help me with 680 since it is from GT60 originally and it's not supported by GT70 (I switched it from 675 to 680 in the other MSI laptop some 8 months ago - both worked without a problem until the issue). Don't have access to check my 680m in another MSI to check if it's working and is no hardware failure, but have access to 8970m from CLEVO for some decent bucks - was wondering which bios should I install to run it in my GT70 or which bios/EC firmware to flash so my old 680 start working again... This or that... Any idea? Guys? Svet? Sure will make the donation if needed of course!

  • Adding 2 extra monitors

I'm running a Mac Pro Dual-Core Intel Xeon 2.66 GHz
    with an ATY, RadeonX1900
I've got an extra monitor plugged into the extra DVI out. How tricky is it to run TWO extra monitors; or what additional hardware would I require? Is there any way to run it from this setup without having to purchase a Kona (or similar) card?
    All ears...
    Ben

You can plug in as many monitors as you have video out ports. If you want more video ports, plug in more video cards. If you have three video cards with two ports each, you can connect six monitors. Mac OS doesn't make a distinction between adding a second monitor and adding a 15th or a 23rd, and it's been that way for years.
If you want to add monitors without buying more cards, you could possibly use one of the USB-based DisplayLink extenders like the ones Matrox makes. You would plug this into a USB port and plug your monitor into that. However, using one is kind of a waste of a Mac Pro because they are significantly slower than "real" video cards and lack advanced graphics support. If you are only using these external monitors for simple things like web and email windows, then a DisplayLink solution might be acceptable.

  • Macbook Pro - Two extra displays? Help!

I currently have a 17" 4:3 Dell monitor connected to my MBP at my desk.
I would also like to connect a 32" 16:9 TV as well, without having to change connections every time I switch.
I thought about getting a DVI splitter, but I feel like there would be problems. I don't mind that the two extra displays show the same thing, but I assume the MBP would only read the output as one extra monitor, therefore would only have one resolution setting for both the extra monitor AND tv. Being two completely different sizes and aspect ratios, I feel like that would cause ugliness.
Is there a better way around this, or am I going to be stuck with this idea?

Big ouch to my wallet, looks like I'll be taking the 5 seconds out of my day to switch cables. Thanks for the help

  • Upgraded to Yosemite and Windows 8.1 Pro in Bootcamp, can no longer drive retina display and two external monitors simultaneously?

    Greetings
I just upgraded from Mountain Lion and Windows 7 Ultimate (Bootcamp) to Yosemite and Windows 8.1 Pro on a late 2012 MBP 13" Retina. Prior to the upgrades, I was able to drive the retina panel and two external monitors simultaneously when operating directly in Bootcamp. Now, I can only drive 2 of the 3 simultaneously though all three are recognized under Graphic Properties. I simply cannot find any option or profile under Graphics Properties or Options or Personalization to run all three screens.
My hardware hasn't changed and this worked prior to the updates. I have no issue on the Mac OSX can run all three. I also have no issue doing it in Windows under Parallels Desktop 10. It is just when I boot directly into Bootcamp that this happens. What am I missing?
    Thanks,
    G.

Great point, Loner T.  It was late when I was working and I thought about this afterwards also.
The issue was that in Windows=>Control Panel=>Display, under "Change Display Settings", the three screens showed but "Extend Display"  was not selected for one of the screens. It was simply off. I can't believe I danced around this w/o picking it up sooner. In fact, it has happened in the past that for some reason a display loses this setting.
As an aside, thanks again for all of your help and terrific input to upgrade both the Mac and Windows operating systems. As I was going from Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 8.1 Pro, one thing I did come across that made life much easier was to upgrade first to Windows 8 so I could keep my apps. The jump from 7 to 8.1 would otherwise migrate my personal files, but not programs and require a lot of time to reinstall all. This was completely avoided by going to Windows 8 first.
Thanks, again, and very much appreciate the work that you do here.
    Best,
    G.

  • Connecting two extra displays

I was wondering whether it would be possible to connect two external monitors to my macbook. I currently have one connected but would like to add another- any help?

It's possible that you could get what you're after.
You'll need an external hardware that can split your display output. There are third party solutions for PC's - even for desktops that don't have internal PCI/AGP/PCIe expansion.
Matrox has a LONG standing history at providing solutions for Windows. Actually I just took a look at their site and saw "Matrox DualHead2Go DisplayPort Edition"
Specifically I read: "Run two monitors from your notebook or desktop computer even if that system only supports one monitor output" & "Includes Matrox PowerDesk software for Windows and Mac"
Be careful though. Currently I saw lack of support for 10.6.
    "Mac® OS X v10.4, Mac OX v10.5 Leopard"

Take a look around to see their competitors which has begun to flourish in the past 3-5yrs.
    Hope this helps.

  • Extra monitor w/laptop in office, when out of office how do I prevent Firefox from displaying on the non-existant 2nd screen?

When I am out of my office using my laptop, upon launching Firefox, it displays all of the tabs from the previous session on the non-existent extra monitor which is set up as a screen extention for when I am in my office. All of the other programs that I park on the extra monitor (Outlook for example) display on the laptop's screen when the extra monitor is not attached. Is this a bug? Or, must I not save my open tabs when exiting Firefox if I am going to use the laptop w/o the monitor?

Thanks for your suggestion. I sort of came to that conclusion as I was typing the original question. However if there is anyone out there who has a solution that is not dependent on my remembering to do something before I exit Firefox, it will be welcomed.

  • Has anyone tried driving two external monitors (3 total displays) on the iMac 2011 through the thunderbolt ports on Windows 7 Bootcamp?

I would love to purchase an iMac 2011 with the Thunderbolt ports, but I need to occasionally boot to Windows 7 Bootcamp.
I imagine this will work in general... but has anyone tried driving two external monitors using the Thunderbolt ports in Windows 7 Bootcamp?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

  • Connecting two external monitors to 21.5" iMac

I have a 21.5" iMac at work. I also have two older vga/dvi monitors that are not getting any use at home. Is there a way I could hook these two monitors to my iMac desktop at home even though I only have one mini-display out on the back.
    Back of the computer is 4 usb 2.0, 1 Firewire 800, 1 Mini-display
I would like to be able to operate each monitor as extended desktops (to the right and left of the iMac) I found a converter box, but I am looking for something a little cheaper. Would getting dual vga to dvi then a dvi to mini display work or is there an adapter that goes from mini diaplay directly to dual dvi or vga?

Rudegar I hate to say this but you are wrong, I have successfully connected 2 20 inch monitors to my 21.5 inch imac using a usb to vga converter and the thunderbolt to vga addapter, the usb to vga adapter works but still is not as fast as the thuderbolt to vga cable. So if you are planning to use the 2 extra monitors for an enlarged gaming screen, your out of luck but for actually doing work it works perfectly.

  • Using a laptop as an extra monitor

I have a G5 desk top, and an old power mac G4 laptop. The laptop is pants now and reallly slow. What I would liek to do is use the laptop as an extra monitor, as I work a lot in final cut pro, and studio pro, so a separate screen woudl be very handy. Is there any way to connect the two so that the laptop is just a second monitor?

I don't know the answer to your question of whether there's Mac software to do this. I do know there is Windows XP software to do the same thing on Windows (one such program is http://www.maxivista.com), so I wouldn't be surprised if there is similar software for Mac. In fact, I might be disappointed if there is not similar software for Mac.
One other possible option is to use something like VNC. If there are any VNC servers for the Mac that allow you to set up a server as a second virtual display, then you could run a VNC client on your laptop. It wouldn't be fast, but might be good enough. But I'm a Mac newbie, and don't know what VNC servers exist for it.

  • Display size external Monitor

The resolution of the YOGA 13" display is that high, that one has to use 200% size in Windows 8.x. If I connect to an external monitor with HD resolution this is to big. I have to change it and make a re-login. This is very time consuming and annoying.
How can I resolve this problem?

Ya, that's going to be an issue.  The Mac (when set not to mirror) will think you're wanting to use that extra monitor as extra space (i.e. extends the desktop onto it).  In mirror mode, the resoluton MUST be matched on both (I think it's a limitation of the OS because I can do this all day long on Windows).  The only other solution would be to hook up multiple monitors and a physical keyboard/mouse so that you can close the clamshell and use just the external monitors.  Don't quote me on this, but you may be able to mirror at that point across two external monitors.  The problem comes into play when you try to do that along with the built-in laptop display.

  • Matrix Display – setup and model chart

This time, it’s time for a little repetition – we’ve been noticing a bunch of questions on how to set up Matrix Display (the ability to use several monitors on MSI Gaming notebooks) lately, and we’d like to show you all once more. Basically, it is very simple, but there are differences in how to enable this on different models.
The procedure for the GT series can be found here: http://faenl.msi.com/ftp/Notebook/Guides/How%20to%20setup%20MSI%20Matrix%20Display%20on%20MSI%20GT60%2C%20GT70%20Notebooks.pdf

Worth noting is that different models have different capabilities when it comes to outputting video. Below, you can see which model is capable of what.
    GT72/GT70/GT60: Built-in display + 3 external monitors
    GS70 + GX series: Built-in display + 2 external monitors OR 3 external monitors
    GS60, GE60, GP series: Built-in display + 2 external monitors
Matrix Display is yet another MSI feature that not only helps you with your gaming experience, but also boost your productivity, with a minimum of three monitors supported across the range.

    Hi.
I have this laptop MSI Dragon Edition GT70 2OD with Geforce 780M, however it also came with the IntelHD Graphics adapter 4600 (which I think is using shared RAM & CPU).
When I go to surround and PhysX configuration, it shows the Laptop Display connected to the Intel instead of GeForce. Also, when I connect a External Display using the VGA port (laptop came with 3 additional video output ports for multiple display: 1 x VGA + 1 x HDMI + 1 x miniDisplay port), both (laptop display and external display) are connected to the Intel instead of Geforce. But when I change the external display to the miniDisplay port (using the proper VGAXminiDisplay adpater), it shows the external display connected to GeForce but the Laptop Display is still connected at the Intel adapter. This results, when I use multiple display, on low performance on my laptop display (native resolution 1920X1080)...
any idea how can I have the Laptop Display connected to the GeForce instead of the intel.
PS: When I dont use the multidisplay, I get full performance on my laptop display in despite of being "connected" to the Intel graphics display.

  • How do I use two external monitors with my laptop?

I have a new Pavilion dm4-301 d cl Entertainment PC.   My OS is Windows 7.   I am used to using two external monitors with a docking station.   This new laptop does not have a docking station.  What do I need to get  to use two external monitors?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Certainly not without a dock but even with, HP laptop docks pretty well limit you to one of the external monitor ports, even if there are two on the dock. We have used a device called an Atlona AT-HDPIX2 which is a usb to hdmi adapter. It provides a third monitor capability for a laptop....use the native external monitor port and the internal laptop display and then this device gives a third monitor which is full configurable from the Windows 7 display interface...clone, extend, etc. It allows full HD resolution and is responsive enough for even light gaming.  HP makes no true docking station for your laptop.
