Matrox DualHead2GO Digital ME crashes under Yosemite

I am no expert, but after upgrading to Yosemite my MacBook gets panic reports after rebooting several times during the day.
If I unplug the DualHead2GO it works properly. I tried to upgrade software and firmware from Matrox but it doesn't resolve the issue.
The panic report from Yosemite contains NVIDIA and GPU panics.....
How to understand/locate the problem?
Much appreciated for any tips!

Since this concerns the 15-inch Mid 2010 MBP, I fear the problem is neither the Matrox DualHead nor Yosemite. The graphics processor of these MBP's is often failing: MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010): Intermittent black screen or loss of video - Apple Support

  • Matrox DualHead2Go Digital

    Hi
I've bought a Matrox DualHead2Go Digital to use two monitors (2*1280x1024) to obtain a 2560x1024 resolution.
The problem is that the Matrox DualHead2Go Digital doesn't function with new MacBook; I wrote to Matrox and they answare me that MacBook and Matrox DualHead functions only with max 2048x768 resolution, and the reason is the graphic card.
The absurdity is that with PowerBook 12" I didn't have any problem...
    Bye.

The MacBook's GPU has been well documented as underpowered for many games, and even some of Apple's own professional software. It would appear this has not stopped people from buying it, given its resale value and how often it ends up on the top seller list. If you need a high end GPU Mac that is portable, get a used or refurbished MacBook Pro*:

  • Matrox DualHead2Go Digital ME?

I'm using a Matrox DualHead2Go Digital Mac Edition graphics adapter with (2) LG IPS235 displays. This device effectively connects both monitors so I have a 3840 x 1080 workspace. The problem I'm having is I only want InDesign and all of my other applications to span (1) monitor. For some reason that works in apps like Safari and Mail, but all of my Adobe apps want to occupy both monitors. Sure, I can adjust the Adobe workspace, but the menu spans both monitors. Is there anyway to adjust the Adobe desktop on these apps so they only use one monitor?
If somebody has a similar Matrox device they'll probably understand what I'm talking about.
    Thanks!

It sounds like you haven't installed the PowerDesk for Mac.  It will solve the problem of 'seeing' multiple monitors.

  • Why is everything crashing under Yosemite?

I installed Yosemite on my MBP (2014 Retina 15") and a lot of applications are crashing. So much so that I feel like I am using alpha software. MS Word crashes often, so does Preview, Mail and Finder. Boxer crashed yesterday. Lyx crashed today -- I had never seen that before. I also have the Wi-Fi issues that everyone else seems to be having. Since I cannot think of anything that would tie all of these problems under one roof, I am wondering whether there is a core service in the OS that is the culprit. Any ideas? Many thanks in advance.

Thanks. Here's the output (I am currently running Norton to see whether there is a virus)

  • Matrox DualHead2Go Digital Edition w/ Macbook

    Hello,
I just bought the DualHead2Go graphics module from Matrox in order to connect 2 external monitors to my macbook so I can have 3 monitors in total to work with. For some reason, my macbook is only recognizing 1 external monitor, the one plugged into slot 1 of the matrox module. The monitor plugged into slot 2 is not being recognized. Can someone out there help? Thank you.

This is more a Matrox issue than a MacBook....they have user forums also....I also found this troubleshooting area on their website...

  • Photoshop crashes under Yosemite when not all fonts are loaded.

Every time. Loading some fonts through Font book. When the resolve fonts modal appears on top of the canvas, Photoshop automatically quits.
    Any ideas?

After some desperate troubleshooting, here is what I found.
If I delete the PS prefs file (cmd-opt-shift on opening Photoshop), and then opening a file, I get the resolve type via Typekit screen:
On the next screen, if I select don't resolve, the file will open fine:
But when I quit and open the file again, it auto quits. This is the screen just before it auto quits (the warning triangle is replaced with a loader animation.)
it seems that selecting 'Don't show on document open' in screen no. 2 is a temporary fix to this annoying bug.
    Thanks,
    Michael

  • Matrox DualHead2Go ME?

I just setup a Matrox DualHead2Go Digital ME with my MacBook Pro 9,1 and I'm getting this error every now and again. If any MacBook Pro/Matrox users have had a similar problem please let me know how you fixed it.
    Thanks!

  • Matrox DualHead2Go DP Edition on MBP (May 2010) under Bootcamp Windows 7?

Will the Matrox DualHead2Go DP Edition be recognized and work under "Bootcamped" Windows 7 running on a Macbook Pro (May 2010)?
On a similar/related note, are there DisplayPort drivers for Windows 7 under Bootcamp to make the miniDP port to be recognized and work under it - even for something else, like the simple miniDP-to-DVI and miniDP-to-VGA adapters (if not for the DualHead2Go)?

Ok, I think this problem has been resolved, so I'll post the solution in case others with the Samsung Syncmaster 204B have the same problem. The answer was erasing the PRAM by holding Option-Command-P-R at boot up (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379).
This is what I think happened:
An update in Windows Update is available for the Syncmaster 204B, but wasn't visible when I first connected the Syncmaster. I wasn't able to see the update until I rebooted with the Syncmaster connected (after several crashes). After seeing the update in Windows Update under 'Optional Updates", called "Samsung - Display- 204T/204Ts/204B, Syncmaster Magic CX20Ts(digital)", I installed it, but bootcamp Windows continued to crash randomly after attaching the Syncmaster via both Mini Display Port-to-DVI and Mini Display Port-to-VGA. Sometimes it crashed after a few minutes, sometimes an hour, the same as before I installed the update.
I was convinced that it was a compatibility problem between Windows 7 x64, the Syncmaster 204B and the MacBook Pro 13" Mid-2010 hardware since this problem only happened when booting into bootcamp Windows 7 x64 (everything worked fine in Mac OS), but now that doesn't seem to be the case. I think the update fixed the problem, but after installing the update some of the of the original incompatible display settings remained resident in the Mac's PRAM. Erasing the PRAM cleared these settings and allowed the new updated settings to be loaded instead, fixing the crash issue.

  • Matrox DualHead2Go and ADC Display?

I have an older 17" acrylic display with that big ADC-DVI adapter. I'm currently using my Macbook Pro (ATI X1600 video card, Dual-Link DVI connector) with a surprisingly good HP VGA panel, the same resolution as the Cinema Display.
Has anyone had any luck with using an ADC monitor with the Matrox DualHead2Go? I'd like to connect both of these displays to my MBP, and have heard concerns about compatibility with certain devices and the ADC adapter. Secondly, does anyone know if the DualHead2Go can support mismatched signals, at the same resolution(1x DVI, 1x VGA).
I suspect I need the Digital Version, but it seems that because the signal has to turn into VGA first, it may not work with the ADC display. So third, is the Macbook Pro capable of connecting to the newer DisplayPort version of the DualHead2Go? Assuming someone makes a DVI-Displayport connector.

The idea behind the DualHead2Go is that the two displays be matching displays, so mismatched resolution won't work AFAIK. But you can ask Matrox that question to be sure.
If your MBP has DVI for its output, then it won't be compatible with the DisplayPort version of the the DualHead2Go.

  • ID 5.5 crashes in Yosemite. Adobe patch also fails.

I'm using ID 5.5. I've just migrated to a new Mac running Yosemite and ID crashes over and over. I've tried installing the Adobe patch and this also fails. "Adobe InDesign CS5.5 7.5.1.304 Installation failed. Error Code: U44M2P7"
Please help if you can, Thanks, Nick

    Two points.
First 5.5 is unsupported under Yosemite.
Second. Migration almost never works with Adobe applications.
Uninstall it, run the cleaner tool and do a proper installation. You may get lucky but you are on your own.

  • Matrox Dualhead2go Issue

No matter what I do I can not get it to display across 2 screens at 1920x1080 60hz (each, obviously).
I set it in the Matrox GXM Control Panel, but when I go to Change Display Setting, in Matrox Powerdesk, only 1 x 1920x1080 is available, not 2 x 1920x1080 like it should be.
I am running the 9600 chip not the 9400, and even downgraded from 10.6.2 to 10.6.
    What am I doing wrong?

Not according to their compatibility table, shane.
I hasten to add that I have never used this device, but their compatability tables don't say that to me:
    Mac System compatibility
    Mac® OS X
    DualHead2Go *Digital Edition*
Notebook model GPU model Video Output Maximum resolutions
    MacBook Pro (Late 2008 / Mid 2009) NVidia GeForce 9600M/9400M Mini DisplayPort2 2048x768 (*2x 1024x768)*
    (from http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/support/compatibility/gxm/ )
From what I can see the pre-unibody MBP models support 2x 1920x1200 on the "Digital Edition", but not the current ones unless you buy the specific "DP" (Display Port) model.

  • System spontaneously reboots under Yosemite

I had no problems upgrading from Mavericks on my MBPro 13" retina (late 2013) machine.  However, the frequency of sudden reboots has increased substantially -- ie, I got one in 9 months under Mavericks and I'm getting one or two a week under Yosemite (which I only upgraded to in January).  There is no way to generalize the conditions under which it happens -- at least not from a user application standpoint.  It has occurred in the middle of browsing with Safari; just after clicking to open MS-Word-2011; and I forget the other time.
I know the crash dumps are sent to Apple, but is anyone else having this and/or has anyone heard of what Apple thinks about it?
    Thanks,
    Dave

Unfortunately, the article did not help.   I've done all the troubleshooting steps in it several times and Yosemite is unstable on this machine,  I do have several repeating error messages in the console that others have reported in other threads.  I think these are symptoms rather than the direct cause.  It's odd that the 2008 Mac Pro runs smoothly but the 2010 Westmere  machine is very unstable.
I did, in fact downgrade to Mavericks and the system is now running beautifully, so I do not think its hardware related.
May give Yosemite another go at 10.0.3, but ive spent too much time troubleshooting to continue for now,

Well it came installed on my brand new Windows 8 pro w530 I received 4 weeks ago and has never worked. When you try to open power manager it just crashes. If you uninstall it the Lenovo software just keep reinstalling it. If you uninstall the Lenovo PM driver but do not reboot you can then open Power Manager. The minute you reboot the Lenovo software reinstallls the driver.
Why would Lenovo install software on a brand new Windows 8 laptop that is broken and useless? Tech support is absolutely no help they transfer you to the software department which wants to charge you to fix a problem that Lenovo created!!! It is crazy!! I was hoping someone here could solve this problem or maybe someone at Lenovo would see this and get the problem resolved. Tech support has been useless. I reported the problem to them at least 5 times.
