My problem is. I cannot export a movie with Matrox DVCPro50 codec widescreen (1.458). it renders.... but it makes 4:3 | 1.094
someone can help me...?

Have you compared the files ORACLE_HOME\reports\printers\dflt.prt and ORACLE_HOME\reports\printers\wide.prt ?
Is there a line :
linefeed control(J)
in the file wide.prt ?

Photoshop CS4 layers palette too wide problem!

The Photoshop CS4 layers palette is too wide and distorts the layout of the default color swatches palette when docked on the same column. And I don't want to have to put the color swatches palette anywhere else but the same column. Can the layers palette be fixed so that it can be as narrow as the other palettes, so it won't cause a conflict with the swatches layout?

As for the rescalability of panels I think this is more of a Windows issue, but even on mac these are nowhere near as well designed as they were.
Panel and UI design issues are now unfortunately more complex than just to do with Photoshop. The whole Creative Suite is now unified to some extent in the way it handles panels. Part of these problems stem from the fact that Indesign and Illustrator's concerns are quite different to those of Photoshop. Partly because the designers of these two applications have introduced a great swaithe of additional panels, which now need to be accomodated. Hence the panel buttons, and poorly docking panels.
The design of The Creative Suite interface now seems much more influenced by Flash Web design, and Windows OS. Unfortunately with flashing buttons, icons, and distracting transparency whenever you move anything, Photoshop appears on the surface much more complex than it needs to. This surface complexity will lead to further misguided accusations of "bloat".
Photoshop CS and CS2 in my humble opinion, had much more "solid" and well designed panel (or palette) interfaces. Although here and there there have been one or two useful additions to the overall UI, including more readily accessible workspaces, tiling, and obvious clickable icons for people who can't deal with keyboard shortcuts.

Widi problem

I was quite sure I have widi in my laptop until started intstalling it... (code 31 and nothing works). Do you know if T430s has it? it comes with centrino ultimate-n 6300 AGN, i7 3520m and intel hd 4000/nvidia nvs 5200m?

I did some research on Code 31 and found this document from Microsoft. Per Microsoft:
Code 31
This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)
Recommended resolution
Update the driver
You may be prompted to provide the path of the driver. Windows may have the driver built-in, or may still have the driver files installed from the last time that you set up the device. However, sometimes, it will open the New Hardware Wizard which may ask for the driver. If you are asked for the driver and you do not have it, you can try to download the latest driver from the hardware vendor’s Web site.
In the device Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver to start the Hardware Update Wizard. Follow the instructions to update the driver.
You can find the latest version of the WiDi driver here, if you would prefer to install it manually.

Some Matrox Effects giving problem

Hi All,
I am running Adobe Premiere Pro CS 5.0.3 with Matrox MX02 LE and MtxUtils Tools 5.1.1. System has Win7 x64 and NVidia Quadro 4000 graphics card.
There are some effects such as mask or most filters except Black and White filter that do not apply when put on a clip. I want to confirm if it needs some further installation. This is my first setup of MX02 LE with CS5.
As I notice in my previous systems with RT.X2 old versions of MtxUtils 4 were over 2.5 GB which decreased to 450MB in ver. 5 of MtxUtils, while current 5.0 or 5.1 tools for MX02 LE is 211 MB, so possibly there is some separate installation package to support more Effects.

Site wide problems installing KB2878225 & KB982726

Dear All,
I wonder if you can help with this irritating problem. It is not a showstopper, just more of an irritation and an annoyance that I cannot solve this. Plus I guess the updates should really be installed.
The updates in question are KB2878225 & KB982726, a definition update and software update for Office 2010.
On all the machines on site, we cannot install these updates. I have checked the Web to see if this is a common issue and it is not. So looks like it is something to do with us here, which I find really odd.
The PCs they are failing to install on are a mixture of Vista and Windows 7 PCs.

Next, I tried downloading and installing KB982726 by downloading the patch as a standalone install. This didn't work either, not even when the machine is logged on with an administrator account.
I did some investigation and the suggestion was that a repair was required on Office. For me, this was a bit of a long shot as this would meant that ALL the Office 10 installs were corrupt. I ran the repair anyway.
Now it said that it could not write to the registry as it didn't have the required permissions:
So I looked this up too. There were some posts on this on various websites that described how to give permission to those registry keys. I followed those instructions but when I try to apply the new permissions, I keep getting 'Invalid handle' and that is
as far as it will go. It seemed from what people were saying that this point that that would point to a corrupt registry. That I could understand if this was just on one machine. But on all of them that have 2010 installed? Is that possible that all the registries
on those machines are corrupted?
So... now I am at a loss. This happens on machines that just have Access 2010 runtime installed too. I tried to uninstall the Access runtime and got the error above. I decided to risk ignoring the error. It popped up another key, which I again ignored and
then completed. But when I tried to reinstall, I once again got the above error. I ignored again and the runtime reinstalled.
So this is all a bit of a mystery as to why these updates won't install across the site, not just on one PC.
Any ideas anyone?! Any help gratefully received!

The Update Error Code 57E is related to permissions issues, missing system files or broken system registry structures.
Please refer to this article for the resolutions:

and try to set the permission for the specific registry and other methods listed in above article.
You might also need to check this thread which discussed the same issue, and "Soni Pradeep" provided a workaround with good steps in it. Please have a try to see if it helps on your case:

System-wide problems

ical, ichat and address book do not open.
mail (2.1.3) opens but individual messages do not load.
i rebooted 3 times but the problems do not go away.

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates.
May even need to do an Archive and Install if you have room on the HD...

Very serious system wide problem

I am having a very serious problem. It started today, after I installed the kernel extension for iStat, so I think that might be it. I have uninstalled that, but the problem persists. After about thirty minutes of uptime, everything will stop working properly. Disk images won't mount. When I open up Terminal it says "Command complete". Applications don't open at all. My account loses admin privileges, even though it says I have them in System Preferences. System Preferences doesn't work properly. My weather widget says "NaN" instead of a temperature. If I restart it works, but I can't do that every 30 minutes. Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this? It is rather urgent.

If you are on a Windows network and sharing your Mac with the Windows machines you run the risk of the samba demon running wild. If you aren't on a network go to System Prefs and turn off Windows and Printer sharing. If you are on a network and need to leave that function on, go to the Discussions home page and do a Search on "smbd"--you'll find lots of things to read.

Hi i want to use WiDi or Miracast on my Z50-70 but intel software needs an intel wifi adapter. This one has the Atheros. Which intel network adapter wil work in my lenovo?

     What "hdmi stick" are you talking about? Is that a stick, you have inserted into the HDMI port, on your TV? Is your Lumia phone a Windows Phone? What's the name/model number of the stick?
     Try going into Settings > PC and Devices > Devices > Add A Device, instead of "add wireless display" on your first attempt to connect the TV. If you already see your adapter (stick) in that screen under "other devices", delete this instance, then re-boot your laptop. Then, go back to the settings menu for Add A Device, and try it again. As I said, you should be connected to your Internet while doing this. It could take awhile to update, either your Windows software, or your adapter's firmware/software.
     You should have a Miracast Adapter plugged into the HDMI port on the TV, or a new TV that supports the new Miracast WiFi certification. Miracast is not a Lenovo controlled program. It is hardware independent, and software controlled. If you can't connect to your stick, more than likely, your stick, does not support the current, full range of certified Miracast specifications.

    On the left, put in the Manufacturer of your "stick". If it's certified for Miracast, it should be there. If it's there, you may need to update the sticks firmware. If not, you need to buy a new adapter.

Widi problems between Helix and Netgear PTV3000

Dear all,
I purchased a WiDi receiver to transmit movies from my Helix to my TV. The Netgear PTV3000 seemed the best option considering its features, compatibility and small size. However, there is no way I can use it.
I think I've tried ererything, but probably not in the right order or I may have missed something, because there are several records of it working with Windows 8 on the internet.
I've tried with updated drivers from Lenovo, from Intel, with Windows 8 and with Windows 8.1 Preview. No success. I do disconnect from WiFi to ensure my Helix can vie WiDi devices. In every cases, I could add the WiDi receiver to my peripherals, but then I'm always unable to connect to it to transmit data (it will try connecting for years and it will never end, or eventually fail).
Now that I upgraded to Windows 8.1 Preview, the WiDi application tells me that I have to update my drivers in order to make WiDi works, which I did, again either with Lenovo drivers or Intel drivers, but I still get this message when I run the WiDi application. Despite this message, I was able to add the PTV3000 to my peripherals, but it's still the connection that fails.
The PTV3000's firmware is up to date.
Could anybody successfully using their Helix with a WiDi receiver tell me what I am doing wrong, or even better, give me direct links to the drivers I'm supposed to install, in order to ensure I do install the right ones?
Many thanks in advance for you help. That device cost me 70€, not mentioning the Helix itself that I cannot even use with my HDMI wire, so it's really frustrating.

I've asked questions in the Helix for presenters thread a while ago, but got no answer, so I try here in a specific thread about the PTV3000.

a) go to desktop ( old school)
b) control panel > devices and printers
c) remove Push2TV from the list of devices
d) restart
e) GO to right side device add wireless display it should go to paring process.

Multi Camera Editing with Matrox CODEC ( VS4 ) Card

Hello All.
Setup
I am recording 4 inputs from the Matrox VS4 via Wirecast 4.2 and also tried 5.0
- 1080i @ 100Mbps
- All the video footage play perfectly with no problems what so ever
- I Have installed the Matrox VFW Software Codecs of a system which DOES NOT have the VS4 card
- I can edit 1 video with NO PROBLEM.
Problem
- Using Adobe Premiere 7.1 CC with multi camera editing, the footage is jittery after a few seconds.
- Using Adobe Premiere CS 6.0 with multi camera editing, the footage is jittery after a few seconds.
- I have tried with 2 cameras up to 4 cameras and I get the same problem.#
Other Test
- I have tried 12 x videos which are MP4 in multi camera editing with NO PROBLEMS!!!
- I am using 4 x 128GB SSD in RAID 0 ( 1450 MB/s) - Through put is not an issue.
- I have also reduced the MB/s on the ISO capture of 50MB/s

Matrox VFW Codecs

Hello All,
Matrox has recently released their codec package to the general public and no longer requires you to have a hardware card installed or USB key to use them. Depending on your workflow, they could serve as a nice intermediate codec. Possibly even an alternative to Cineform in some situations. The best part is they are free.
I have been testing the Mpeg2 I Frame codec at 100Mbs and been very pleased. Here is the link and the Press release.

I got a chance to install the new codecs, and you're right -- the crashing and memory problems have gone away! It still takes longer than I would lilke for Premiere Pro to launch when the Matrox codecs are installed, but the delay is more reasonable now. It's on the order of 10 - 15 seconds instead of minutes. VirtualDub's Compressor dialog is also slow to load, but again it takes a few seconds now instead of a few minutes.
I like the high bit-rate Matrox MPEG2 I-frame codec in an AVI wrapper as utilitarian intermediate codec. It's kind of like Lagarith in that it encodes a bit on the slow side, but it decodes much faster. It's better than Lagarith because it plays back smoother in Premiere Pro at HD resolutions.
Still, the very best performing intermediate codec is UT. Version 11.1 is lightning fast and very stable (as long as you never select the Assume Interlaced Video check box).

I am having problems opening pages in safari. the rotating wheel at the right end of the address window doesn't stop even after the page has filled up. then if i try to open other pages it gets stuck and won't open them.

I started having problems opening pages today. When first open a page it seems to download the page OK, but the rotating wheel on the right-hand end of the address field keeps rotating after the page is completely filled up. Then if I try to open other pages it becomes slower and eventually stops filling-in the pages, while the rotating wheel keeps rotating.
I wonder whether junk is being downloaded into my mac, or what is going on. Help will be geatly appreciated.

When was the last time you emptied the Safari cache?
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache
If that didn't make a difference, go back to the menu bar click Safari > Reset Safari. Select the top 5 boxes then click Reset.
And how much free space on the startup disk?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 15% free disk space. Freeing Up Hard Disk Space - Mac Guides
If emptying cache or resetting didn't help and there's enough free space on the startup disk, login to another user account, launch Safari. Same problems there indicates a system wide problem. Log back into your admin account so you can check the startup disk.
Launch Disk Utility. /Applications/Utilities
Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If the startup disk needs repairing, follow the instructions for Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks

Nothing should "download" to your Mac unless you initiate the download yourself. You can check the Downloads folder from the Safari > Window menu or your Downloads folder in the Finder.

Facebook and twitter sharing problem

I'm have trouble using Facebook and Twitter integration in Mountain Lion. When I click 'Click to Tweet', or 'Click to Post', nothing happens; I don't get the notecard looking thig, and it's like I never clicked the button. Same thing with sharing from an app, except for Twitter. I receive notifications from both just fine, but I'm unable to post. I can tweet something from the sharing menu (link to a webpage with Safari, for example), but Icannot send a tweet using the 'Click to Tweet' button in Notification Center. Also, I cannot post to Facebook by neither sharing nor the 'Click to Post' button. So far I have tried sharing with Safari, Finder, and Preview, all with the same results. (Facebook sharing with iPhoto does work, but I don't believe that is integrated with OS X.)
I have also tried the following, with no luck:
Checked my settings on the Facebook and Twitter sites.
Removed my acounts and re-added them.
Obviously, my internet connection is working.
Added my Facebook account to the 'Guest User' account, and another administrator account.
Had a friend add his Facebook account to his own (limited) account on my computer--he could not post to Facebook either.
I believe the last two things I tried indicate that this is a system-wide problem. A couple more things to note: 1) there is no kind of error message; it just sits there, like nothing happend, no 'spinning wheel' or anything. 2) It DID work before. Twitter worked when I first upgraded to Mountain Lion, and Facebook worked when I installed the 10.8.2 update. I don't use either often enough to know when exactly they stopped. I add that I raed about people who could solve it reapplying the update combo, i tried it but it doesn't work, basically because i can't do ant update.
any idea?

Pdf printing problem

I can not print a pdf file on MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard (10.6.8) installed. I have tried deleting and reinstalling printers (both Brother and Canon). I have tried both Adobe Reader and Preview. I get nothing but blank pages.

This coould be due to a damaged font, which would be a system-wide problem. Font Book might help if that is he case, or perhaps a font utility.
Other things to try:
Create a new user. Does the new user have the problem. If not, that narrows the issue down to your user account. If the new user can't print either, it's a system-wide problem, such as a bad font.

IWeb hanging at logging into MobileMe (Personal Domain Problem)

I've searched and searched for an answer to my problem all over the internet and these forums and keep coming up blank.
Apologies if the answer is somewhere and I've missed it.
It could be a wider problem with my MobileMe, but iWeb is where it first occurred.
I recently had my personal website forwarding to my MobileMe site, and was using the MobileMe webspace to host my site. I had set my personal domain (in MobileMe) to the personal website. Why I did this I'm not sure, as I wasn't actually using the external webspace, merely forwarding it to my MobileMe site.
However I then decided I wanted to create a new site and this is where the problems began to occur. When I tried to publish the new site, it seemingly tried to publish to personaldomain/new_website name/ which obviously didn't exist as there was no external webspace there.
I then decided to reset everything, get rid of the personal domain setting within MobileMe and just merely forward my external web addresses to my Me sites. Upon deleting my Personal Domain from the mobileme settings page and logging into iWeb, the website name next to my username was still my external website address, and iWeb seemed to think it was all still published (which it was, as when I went to my web.me.com/etc, my website was there) However I wanted to start from scratch and republish everything, so I deleted all the web/sites section from my idisk, and hoped I could republish everything (this could have been a mistake!)
Now when I try to publish, iWeb just hangs at logging into MobileMe and won't publish anything. iPhoto also won't upload new photo albums and neither will aperture. They just hang at syncing galleries.
I'm completely at a loss as to how to proceed. I've deleted preferences from iweb and also logged out of mobileme, put a fake name in and logged back in again (to clear the cache I think) and still iweb hangs. I've even tried creating a new user account and logging in there and still it hangs.
Apologies for the essay of a post, if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Just some suggestions as to where to go would be helpful. I'm wondering if it's something to do with Keychains? I had a brief look in there but it all went over my head. This is the first problem I've ever had with my new mac, and being from a PC background, don't really know where to look to fix things.

After waiting a day for the rolling restore to happen, I called AppleCare because Apple had sent an email saying my service was back, and it wasn't. I still could send and not receive using Mail.
Here is what fixed it. Go to MobileMe (terrible name) in System Preferences, log out. Then enter a garbage name and password and try to log in. This apparently clears the MobileMe preferences. Then enter your real UserName and PassWord. For me this was lights on.
I am left wondering how long ago I could have had email had I known this preference reset scheme.
Although for a different MMe issue it will clear out the MMe login info so you can enter everything anew and give it a fresh start.
